Version 2 now available on all platforms!

21 short days after leaving Early Access, I'm pleased to announce the version 2 patch.

The focus for this patch has been a lot of the feedback from the new player base, as well as taking advantage of the 3-week period to move to a much newer version of Unity, and get that tested. The newer Unity version adds a raft of fixes for Linux, as well as improved performance across the board.

What else to mention? I'm aware that multiplayer is in need of more love, sales are good... time for me to fix up all the forum posts and start on version 3. Version 3 should make charging the OET much easier, with much better power generators, another tier of weaponry, and access to the Tier-4 ores.

Major Features
  • This is Unity 4.6.9 - about 18 months newer than the last version of Unity we were using!
  • Improved corrupted world recovery (doing what I can to overcome Windows' awful file system)
  • Fixed a bunch of achievements!
  • Major improvments to wasp route finding
  • Added Organic Solar Panels!

  • Added brand new Advanced Conveyor Filters, allowing SPECIFIC filtering of items!

  • Added Tunnelling mobs - still using placeholder graphics, but this is to get better feedback from players, as opposed to not knowing what's going on.

  • Added Threat Generators and Calmers, allowing you to control your threat better (Still using placeholder graphics)
  • Rebalanced wasp attacks

  • SpiderBot improvements
  • Added detail setting "bloom" to the console
  • Segment pop-in has been substantially improved
  • DAPPER DLC OWNERS! You can now colourise torches with the paintgun!
  • Conveyor Slopes!
  • High-tier batteries now correctly level charge between them.
  • Improved initial tutorial experience. Hopefully it's a lot less subtle now.
  • Much improved Conveyor and Storage Hopper interactions; should lead to a much more even split of resources.

  • Missiles have substantially boosted damage and reduced construction costs

Full Patch notes available here :

Thank you to everyone who's supported FortressCraft so far! ːpcraceː

Sobre este jogo

FortressCraft Evolved’s Survival Mode is a unique-blend of Voxel Landscapes, Tower Defense, Crafting, Logistics, Exploration, Combat and Assembly lines. Players begin by crash-landing on a strange alien world, left with only a small handful of starting machines. Using hand-held scanners they must locate ore resources, place down Ore Extractors and Conveyors to automate the raw material back to the Smelter; take the fresh ingots through multi-machine assembly lines, followed by researching new technologies that help them explore thousands of meters below the planet's surface.

An advanced HoloBase allows players to keep an eye on their factory which they must defend against waves of alien attacks with multiple tiers of missile and energy turrets. To survive they must continue to develop new and unique power systems, from solar energy to Jet Turbines, culminating in crafting an Orbital Energy Transmitter thousands of cubic meters in size, to beam power off-planet, and start the next phase of the game.

And all this with an enormous draw-distance, scalable gameplay engine that is equally at home on high-end or low-end computers, and full multiplayer support! This does not even factor in all that you can do in the Creative Mode whose only limits are your time and imagination. With an array of Super Build Tools and a high-resolution Custom Detail Block Workshop players can build anything and on a massive scale unseen in other games.

  • Experience the largest worlds ever seen in any computer game - ever!
  • Create a futuristic mining operation consisting of thousands of huge machines.
  • Full Tower-Defense style combat in a voxel universe.
  • Use hi-tech machinery to locate and process resources from thousands of meters away.
  • Explore thousands of metres vertically, overcoming ever-more difficult challenges.
  • Official Texture Pack and Mod Pack support
  • State of the art lighting and shadowing, utilising high resolution maps for machinery and environment
  • Innovative“Build to Me” Feature to facilitate rapid, accurate building
  • Shareable Creative Schematics
  • Super Build Tools allowing instant creation of primitive shapes

I don't normally write reviews, but this game deserves a review. I absolutly adore this game and has tons of wonderfull ideas and features with literally constant updates. So lets get into the game. What is it? You could say its minecraft but in all kind of isnt. It is its own unique game with tons of unique blocks and features that I would love to have in minecraft, that not even modded minecraft can offer. So lets get the good and the bad in the game listed in a nice little list. This is a little lengthy so if you dont want to read all of this and want to know the short version

SHORT Version: Its a good game lots of features and updates, little bugs, if there are it gets fixed pretty quickly, dev streams and listens to his watchers. Also they look at feedback and love to get feedback on the game.

LONG: If you want more depth here you go.

-It is constantly updated on a daily baises. There are new features almost weekly and when they did a poll on their twitter, literallythe next day there was a solution and was implemented within a pretty short amount of time. A day or two before it was in the game.

-Bugs are quickly addressed when reported and usually will have a patch in a decent amount of time, depending on how game breaking it is of course.

-Multiple tiers that you work your way through as you go deeper into the world.
-Researching those tiers. The deeper you get the more Research points you get (RP) The more blocks and flora you scan the more you unlock.

-Replayability. Theres a lot of replayability in this game and with constant updates and a lot of features being planned it is always a new experience. (Especially if they add the planned features like space)

-ARTHER. An amazing little robot that you can dress in a top hat, eye monocle and an good looking moustache. Love it! Though hes really useful ingame with status updates and back up power if you run low.

-Much more to list that would just make this ungodly long.

-Multiple game modes that are pretty fun ranging from hardcore and rush mode one or two others that I cant think of atm.

-Not everything is implemented yet. Some stuff is in there but it hasnt been properly fleshed out. (Though this isnt in early access, it still technically is because of a lot of reasons that you need to game developers point of view to understand. (Which the dev actually explained to us in a stream in depth which gives you a big understanding of the gaming industry. Like the top games make 90% of the money. Even though fortress craft is in the top 500 for steam games they still struggle, so even though this is the con section, I highly suggest if you buy the game you buy the DLC with it to help support them))

-Things can be a little difficult to piece together, even with the handbook, so it may take a little bit of time to figure things out or do a little research (Again its being fleshed out and the handbook is still unfinished so its understable)

-Your kind of stuck in spot defending the same area. Now Im sure they have plans to change that especially when they plan to implement space, so for right now your kind of defending your castle.

Honestly Im just prying cons out of anything I can just to make this seem fair, but there really arent to many cons. If you cant launch the game then talk to the dev. They'll try to help you. Trust me, they want to help you and expand their player base. You can listen into one of their streams and their ideas and viewpoints are really nice to listen into and really put time into their game. It is a bit of a tedious game so it takes time to make things but once you get the hang of it you will surely have fun. This is truly a fantastic game and you should give it a chance. I would honestly even say that this game should be valued way more then 10-15$ for the amount of work they put in, so its a pretty good deal for a game like this.

I don't do many reviews but this quirky gem of a game has grabbed my attention.

A great voxel builder. Lots of interesting systems to figure out and problem solve with.

At only 30 hours in I can't speak much about the end game tower defense game.
The fact that it even exists adds spice to the early game...

The early game tower defense game is only required if you choose to
pay attention to it. You can play hardest core where it is absolutely required
to win every battle. Or you can play easy ignore it and let the mobs "kill" you
central core - which reboots in about 2 minutes and your are back
to another hours of building...

Unlike some voxel/pixel builder games, this one is about setting up a system to do the work,
not grinding through the building process yourself.
We build new structures, we explore, while we explore - the machines mine, refine, shape and build parts from the ore.

PRO: Big world, Interesting systems, Interesting tech tree
Tech growth comes from an interesting combination of exploring and crafting.

CON: Small team, very active development (which are pros) means that
community resources like wiki's stuggle to keep up.
While there is in-game help, you can only find out about topics as
you run into them, and the explanations are not complete.
If you like to plan ahead you will need to scour forum posts
and the guide seciton. The FAQ in the guide section is essential to understanding
some key concepts. Other steam forum posts contain key tidbits.

The lack of documentation combined with all the things you can get the
system to do make for a steep learning curve (at 36 hours I am just getting
out of the "early" game.) But puzzling out how to get what you want to happen
with all the games systems is a LOT of fun. You have to work for your tech
upgrades, but they are all the more enjoyable that way.

Love it.

A bit of a lerning curve but with the help of a streamer ( and the developer, made it quite a bit easier.

But learning curve aside its a fun game with alot of potential, so i can warmly recommend it.

Honestly I'm not a great reviewer.. BUT This game is insanely addicting and would suggest trying it out. It does tend to be a bit difficult and sinks a bunch of time, What else do you need though? It's fun slowly progressing and feels great making those leaps. You definitely get your $'s worth.
