Right now I am 50/50 on my review. I have been playing the game with no mob AI and have actually been loving it. It's a nice change from playing Minecraft all day long.
What I enjoy most about the game, is the fact that you need machines to gather resources, mainly your ores, and that you can use conveyor belts to move all your materials around. I've worked a warehouse job where it was conveyor belt city almost, and one conveyor belt at this job, took 10 minutes to get the product from the machine to me, where I had to sort it with other packages. So the game in it's current state is pretty wild. So I recommend it based on how it's different from Minecraft, you can build and destroy blocks from almost any range, and how its got all this factory stuff. I believe there are mods for Minecraft for factory, but I enjoy playing this game as it offers a much different feeling and gives a different look.
Recent changes however will be approaching, and this is where I am undecided on a full recommendation. Changes will be coming that will give the mobs an AI, meaning they can drain power or screw with your machines functioning unless you plop down turrets. To begin, alot of items to build are very expensive, and that problem needs addressed. Another recent change to the game was how generators work. Before, you could use generators anywhere for power. Now, generators will only work so far underground, then you are forced to use lasers. My laser system is getting to be pretty crazy, trying to drag down as much power as I can, and it feels like a never ending battle to even be able to keep power running. There have been recent game code fixes to the lasers in how they operate. I personally dislike the lasers altogether, but I'm really trying to give them a chance.
The other problem that I have, is that, I would love to just be able to operate a factory, with no interruptions, but that isn't going to be added as a seperate option. A simple option to start a new game with no mobs, cannot or will not be included. A few people have asked for this, but all have been given a "no this is not an option" answer. The way indie games are made today, community input is helpful, and when that input is actually used in the game, that's even better, and I believe that indie developers should always keep an open mind about different things they can and cannot include. What I'm saying is, if the game Minecraft can have a no mob option, come on, it really shouldn't be that hard for you to include it as well. But I'm not saying that it needs to be included right away. I'm just saying, it is an option, and it shouldn't be ruled out so quickly. Once the game gets more closer to completion, then add in the option to turn off the mobs. Personally, I'm not looking forward to the mobs in the game, because I was hoping to just run a factory.
The more you cater to your players and fans of the game, the more they will see you in a better light. Then, mix it up a bit and change something that players wouldn't feel is too game breaking, or that on a forum, you have ideas and can go over those ideas with your playerbase. This happens already, but that transparency is what people want nowadays, and the developers have 100% transparency with their playerbase.
It's really just the no mob thing. Never entirely rule something out if it can be a possible option added in later on. I play Minecraft so much, that I'm getting tired of mobs. Which is why I have so much play time with this game. It's pretty much you building and running a factory, but then here come the mobs.
It's a good game, and if you like having to use machines to get things done, then you should get it.
It is still in its early stages so it will be going through many changes I'm sure.
