Bug fixes and enhancements

The gamma9 build has been deployed, this includes the following changes:

  • Tidied up service calls for fetching leaderboards and the daily challenge, which means a slightly quicker UI.
  • Fixed uncommon case where the transition or engine sound would loop continuously.
  • Tapping the control key will play a quick red burst animation on top of the mouse cursor. Handy if you've lost it!
  • Fixed inconsistencies in the German translation.
  • Removed one-frame snap when continuing a scored game.
  • Screenshot and GIF save notification messages no longer persist past their useful lifetime.

Multi-monitor support

Quick release today. We've just pushed the gamma8 build from test to the default branch; the most significant change is the reintroduction of the Unity configuration dialog. On Windows you can use this to select which monitor to run Mini Metro on.

To bring up the dialog, hold down the shift key when you start the game. Please note all the other settings are ignored, so you still have to change resolution in-game!

게임에 대해

In Mini Metro, you take on the task of designing the subway layout for a rapidly expanding city. Your city starts with three stations. Draw routes between these stations to connect them with subway lines. Commuters travel along your lines to get around the city as fast as they can. Each station can only hold a handful of waiting commuters so your subway network will need to be well-designed to avoid delays.

The city is growing. More stations are opening, and commuters are appearing faster. The demands on your network are ever-increasing. You'll be constantly redesigning your lines to maximise efficiency. The new assets you earn every week will help immensely — as long as they're used wisely.

Eventually your network will fail. Stations will open too quickly. Commuters will crowd the platforms. How long the city keeps moving is up to you.

Key Features

  • Compelling, constructive, hectic, relaxed gameplay. If that makes sense. It doesn't though, aye? You just gotta play it.
  • Three game modes: Normal for quick scored games, Endless for stress-free sandbox play, and Extreme for the ultimate challenge.
  • Eleven real-world cities to design subways for (London, New York City, Paris, Berlin, Hong Kong, Osaka, Saint Petersburg, Montreal, São Paulo, Cairo, and Auckland). Each has a unique colour theme, set of obstacles, and pace.
  • Random city growth, so each game plays out differently. A strategy that proved successful last game may not help you in the next.
  • Each game's map is a work of art, built by you in the classic abstract subway style of Harry Beck. If you think it's a keeper, save it, tweet it, show it off or make it your desktop background!
  • Soundtrack by Disasterpeace
  • Colorblind and night modes.
  • Trains! Did we mention them yet?

Demo

You can check out Mini Metro for yourself and play a game on the London map in the demo. The demo uses the Unity webplayer, so you'll need the Unity plugin (Windows and OS X only unfortunately).

I'm not supposed to like this game, if there is a type of game I never play, I've never liked, I go out of my way not to own, it is THIS type of game.

Except I do own this game I have played this game, I never liked it though, I loved it! There is something about Mini Metro that keeps you playing, actually a few things, the different locations, the challenge, the wanting to do better, it is one of those 'Just one more game' type of games that you have just one more game then a few hours later realize just how long you've been playing.

The game-play is fairly easy to grasp, connect the train stations, keep the passengers from ammassing on the platforms, as you progress use new stuff to expand your operation and try to be as efficient as you can. The simplicity of the game-play is maybe what makes it so good, and so addictive.

I honestly can't recommend this game highly enough am really glad I bought it.

This game provides the chance to fail at making a train system, the system for getting train lines and trains can't keep up with your need of them later in the game.

This is a puzzle game, above all. It's not a building game. Yes, the maps you create can look cool - but they need to be efficient. It's all about keeping your stations unclogged and running smoothly. But you also need to make sure you're using your tunnels and trains well, because you have limited amount. Thankfully, you can rearrange your lines after they're complete. It took me a while to realize that, so that's why I'm mentioning it. As for the cities, thedifference is the shape of the rivers and shorelines. These will effect how you use your tunnels. After a few maps, it does get pretty difficult.

If you're looking for puzzle game with a unique theme, give this one a try.

What could easily have been a stressful, time-crunching puzzler instead became a semi-zen experience. The simple shapes and mechanics alongside a soothing soundscape makes for a relaxing time that also tickles the efficiency-maximizing side of my brain.

Mini Metro is a game of make-believe mass transit.

Hear me out.

Mini Metro allows you to build a subway system in imitation of the systems of major world cities. The stations you must link up appear randomly within an area, and each station has a different shape. "Passengers" are represented by smaller shapes. Triangles need to go to triangle stations, and so forth. You start with a few lines and you can connect your stations -your passengers can make transfers- and work around the waterways of the city. You have trains (needed to make your lines work), carriages (boosting the capacity of packed trains) and tunnels/bridges (to work around the water).

Mini Metro starts with London and Paris, and the other cities unlock, one by one, by transporting enough passengers on the city before it. New cities bring new challenges and new resources.

Mini Metro allows for brief play sessions. I'm not particularly good at this game, so it's usually Game Over after about 20 minutes of play, which allows me to get up and do other things, rather than getting sucked in. I'm getting better, I swear!

If you played SimCity and want a briefer experience, or played Roller Coaster Tycoon and wanted something more... grounded... you should play Mini Metro. I strongly recommend it, even at full price. It's fun, and pleasing, but it is not exciting. City planning rarely is.

I bought this game for full price, I became interested in it after seeing it mentioned in one of the "Games You May Not Have Tried" episodes of Extra Credits.

ESPRESSO SHOT REVIEW
Mini Metro is a wonderfully addictive game that involves strategy and quick planning to run a metro transit service on the fly. Deal with making tunnels, crowded connections, weird layouts, and of course keeping all the people going from one place to the next. In a seemingly endless combination of options, your goal is to move as many people as possible before your mass transit system overcrowds. Even for those who don’t like management games, this is a gem of game to play through.

PROS
- well thought mechanisms to create your metro
- re-playability with high scores
- a real metro look to the maps and layout, beautifully simple and modern

CONS
- slightly repetitive
- can be a game you enjoy, but end up leaving after awhile

FRENCH PRESSED FULL CUP REVIEW

I look down and all I see are triangles, circles, squares, and lines. Yep, just triangles, circles, squares, and lines. I’m looking at my breakfast. It looks like my Mini Metro transit map of Melbourne. Not that Mini Metro has gotten to me, naaaah. But look, the toast triangles are so far across my plate that if someone wanted to get to the orange juice glass, they’d have to go right through the eggs. That’s not going to work. Especially with my eggs making a river of yolk. And then, how is my coffee going to get around the bacon? I’d have to go across the butter dish with a …butter knife bridge, of course. Wait up, what if I just re-arrange my orange juice with some straws so that it goes through the eggs without messing them up? Boy, next time I’m just having a breakfast burrito.

Welcome to Mini Metro, the seriously competent micro-management strategy transit simulation. You start with three basic stops in a variety of geographic situations, including several international cities to unlock. London is one of the first maps and that is where I started. Your first three stops - circle, square, and triangle - are unfortunately expanding to locales on both sides of a river. Well, hurry to it, there are passengers waiting already. Connect the transit lines as efficiently as you can to keep the stations from overcrowding. People will line up, and they are represented by the shape of the station they are headed to. Easy enough, right? Except more connections keep popping up and you have to connect them as soon as possible or it will overcrowd on you. Then, trouble begins. Lots of people want to connect to the square location, but all the stations on that line are triangles or circles for several stops. Pretty soon it snowballs into a screen teaming with passengers wanting to go to a station is that is nowhere near the next several stops. So, then comes the strategy bit. How do you maintain these metro lines?

You have the following to work with: metro lines, tunnels, carriages, stations, and later some specialty trains like bullet trains for Osaka and trams for Melbourne. Unfortunately, you don’t get all of those at once and even what you have is a finite amount. It comes down to managing resources while you wait for the clock to pass in the hopes of another train to add to the map and relieve some overcrowding. Connect too many stations and you may make the metro line unnecessarily long, or don’t have enough connections on the wrong side of the map and you’ll be overcrowding quickly with no relief in sight.

The rivers can also be tricky. You get across one, only to run out of tunnels. Multiple tunnels can relieve a lot of stress on the lines, but at the expense of spreading your resources very thin. I’d find myself with a few lines across the river, only to have a station point pop on the wrong side of the river where I don’t have a good layout of my lines. Sometimes, you have extra metro lines to take care of those stations on the opposite side of the river, but only if you didn’t opt for more transit cars.

You can stop and redo the entire map, though. That’s the beauty of it. There are endless amounts of ways to correct the map midway. Just pause, and retract all the lines. You can then stop and stare at the screen a bit to see the best way to change it up. Next, put it all back together and see if it’s better off than before. I love this part. I’ve got total control to rethink my strategy.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I sit back and enjoy the screen once I have a good map in motion – it’s a bit like looking at a fish tank. The map is alive, moving to and fro in it’s busy, independent life of it’s own. And yet it’s got to be maintained, just like an encased ecosystem. My mini metro fish tank. The slightest stress on it, and you have a tank of overcrowded fish dying on you. It’s this quality that makes the game rather relaxing, despite the endless hordes of passengers.

I enjoyed the Osaka station the most, with the bullet trains involved. Hong Kong was also quite frantic as it tended to overcrowd very quickly. You may find one particular city appeals to you more than others. It’s an aesthetically pleasing, calming strategic game. I honestly, never play these type of games but I can see this being something I leave on my PC to calm my nerves after a frantic shooter game. Perhaps it will come out on a phone app so I can play this on my phone too. Wonderful game if you like high score games with an intelligent strategy design, feel no hesitation is grabbing it when you can. Rate 8.5/10.

Mini Metro is a small strategy game about making a subway map for growing city.

Normal mode: You start with 3 lines and 3 trains (Blue, Red and Yellow) you must connect at least 1 line with all 3 figures (Not counting rare ones) Every week you can choose what you want to have (Train, line, tunnels etc) so it will help you later. The aim is to don't let a lot people wait near the figures, if there will be too many "people" you lose the game and you can continue in Endless mode.

Endless mode: Is almost the same, but you decide when you lose (By quiting the game) because is Endless!

PROS

+ Relaxing
After hard work when you are finally at home, you can relax with Mini Metro, game is going slowly and is always fun

+ Random
Maps are the same but figures spawn randomly

+ Graphics
Colours are amazing! White, blue, green everything! I love this style!

+ Achievements
Mini Metro got something for Achievement's hunters, achievements aren't hard and you can get them easily

It's exactly what it looks like: A minimalist puzzle game with a creative concept.

That's what you think it is, and you're very correct. The visuals say it all, and convey it all, in a manner that is easy to comprehend instinctively before you purchase. But let me expand on that.

The design also conveys information INSIDE the game, not just the trailer. That's important. This type of minimalistic puzzler shouldn't sell you on simplicity and then be hard to understand. Mini Metro does what it promises so clean and so clear that you'll be surprised. It's graceful.

In essence, you are free to draw a selection of colored lines between designate points (stations) along a map. When lines are connected, they allow a train car to move automatically from station to station. At each station are a number of small shapes building in a queue. When the train stops at a station, it unloads any shapes (passengers) it is currently carrying provided they match the shape of the station, then grabs the passengers at the station and carries them along its line.

This plays automatically for a few turns until new stations appear. Then you need more lines.

Soon you have too little carrying capacity and need more trains.

As you carry more and more people to their destination, you unlock upgrades that complicate the problem at hand without attaching complications to the mechanics. The additions are fluid. It keeps the experience tight and meditative, albeit a bit stressful because it's (mostly) in real time.

As you unlock new cities, the geography and use of tunnels/bridges come into play. Some levels have a faster train car, or a crazier population growth. Keep at it and you'll find yourself organically creating your own tricks: breaking down lines and moving them back and forth between overflowing stations over and over to create shorter paths for your trains, or pausing just so you can flip a train in the opposite rotation for one cycle. Every little decision can change your success.

This game works. It is fun.

If you've watched the trailer and read even a brief description you'll already know whether or not you like this type of experience. If you DO like it, then this will NOT disappoint you.

Was a great game, til my CD key get revoked.
Fortunately the dev team has a great support, and they fixed the problem with me.

Really good game, even if the mid-game phase is a little bit frustrating : when the network and the amount of passangers expands really quick, which results often in a saturation of every line and of course the end of the game, because not enough carriages and locomotives are given.
But it's still a very cool game
