Mini Metro is a strategy simulation game about designing a subway map for a growing city. Draw lines between stations and start your trains running. Keep your lines efficient by redrawing them as new stations open. Decide where to use your limited resources. How long can you keep the city moving?

Zpráva od vývojářů:

Proč předběžný přístup?

“Mini Metro has been in open development since September 2013. We've had such a positive experience throughout the alpha that we decided to continue development in Early Access.”

Přibližně jak dlouho bude tato hra v předběžném přístupu?

“We expect to release the full version in mid 2015.”

Jak se bude plná verze lišit od předběžného přístupu?

“We would like to add the following features and content throughout the Early Access period:

  • procedural audio by Disasterpeace
  • the unlockable Rush Hour mode, for the ultimate challenge
  • achievements
  • trading cards

You can see the full list of tasks, including plans for possible post-release features, on our Trello board.”

V jaké fázi vývoje se hra nachází?

“Both the classic scored game and endless zen mode is fully playable in ten cities, with leaderboards for each.

We'll be adding the remaining functionality and content, tweaking game balance, and fixing bugs (not that we plan on adding any, but ... you know) every week or two.”

Změní se cena hry po skončení předběžného přístupu?

“Mini Metro will be available at a reduced price while it remains in Early Access. The base price after release will be $8.99.”

Jak plánujete zapojit komunitu do vývoje této hry?

“We have an active community that we stay in touch with through Twitter, Facebook, and our own discussion forums. The community has already helped us shape the design of Mini Metro through the alpha, and we plan on continuing that through Early Access and post-release.”

Beta 29a: hotfix

An issue was found when resuming a game in a fully-zoomed out city in beta29. This has been fixed in beta29a. Changes to the colourblind palette along with more performance enhancements snuck in as well.

Beta 29

The major addition is the ability to resume the last game you left. If you exit any game though the pause menu, a 'Resume' button will be available in the main menu. Hit that and you're away! Note that only the last game you abandoned is stored.

A number of graphical glitches that were introduced with beta28's performance improvements have been tidied up. The asset panel should no longer get in the way of gameplay (finally!). We've added the option to replay the tutorial if required—you can find the button in the lower-right corner of the options screen.

Audio is ... well, err, it's close. Same thing we said last update. :| "Close". It's closer than it was!

Informace o hře

In Mini Metro, you take on the task of designing the subway layout for a rapidly expanding city. Your city starts with three stations. Draw routes between these stations to connect them with subway lines. Commuters travel along your lines to get around the city as fast as they can. Each station can only hold a handful of waiting commuters so your subway network will need to be well-designed to avoid delays.

The city is growing. More stations are opening, and commuters are appearing faster. The demands on your network are ever-increasing. You'll be constantly redesigning your lines to maximise efficiency. The new assets you earn every week will help immensely — as long as they're used wisely.

Eventually your network will fail. Stations will open too quickly. Commuters will crowd the platforms. How long the city keeps moving is up to you.

Key Features

  • Compelling, constructive, hectic, relaxed gameplay. If that makes sense. It doesn't though, aye? You just gotta play it.
  • Three game modes: Normal for quick scored games, Endless for stress-free sandbox play, and Extreme for the ultimate challenge.
  • Eleven real-world cities to design subways for (London, New York City, Paris, Berlin, Hong Kong, Osaka, Saint Petersburg, Montreal, São Paulo, Cairo, and Auckland). Each has a unique colour theme, set of obstacles, and pace.
  • Random city growth, so each game plays out differently. A strategy that proved successful last game may not help you in the next.
  • Each game's map is a work of art, built by you in the classic abstract subway style of Harry Beck. If you think it's a keeper, save it, tweet it, show it off or make it your desktop background!
  • Soundtrack by Disasterpeace (well, not quite yet ... but he's working on it right now!)
  • Colorblind and night modes.
  • Trains! Did we mention them yet?

You can check out Mini Metro for yourself and play a game on the London map in the demo. The demo uses the Unity webplayer, so you'll need the Unity plugin (Windows and OS X only unfortunately).

Our object of interest is Mini Metro, a charming Simulation game in which you take control of a metro and oversee how the lines connect, making tracks with the click and drag of a cursor. The game starts you off in London, a simple town with one obstacle in the middle. If everything goes smoothly, by the end of the week, you gain access to more supplies in the forms of a new locomotive and the choice between another line besides your existing yellow, red and blue ones, or a carriage to add on to an existing locomotive. It’s simple, but charming.
The gameplay is enamorating and captivating, albeit simple. People (I assume they’re people) arrive at one station, and their shape determines where they go. If a triangle person arrives at a circle station, the train picks it up and brings it to a triangle station. The fact that is uses shape-people instead of real people is a good choice. The game never tells you where the people need to go, but you can figure it out on your own. The only thing it tells you is that you click and drag to create a line from station to station. I’m drawn to the minimalist graphics and the fluid look, but what takes the cake is how the game balances your situation. There is never a moment you feel that this is too easy, nor do you feel pressured that your metro will shut down. Oh yeah, if you leave too many people at a station, your metro gets shut down. That’s how you lose.
When the game starts, you are given three separate lines and three stations you need to connect. You might feel drawn to use all three lines, but wait it out and just use one at the beginning. The things you need to worry about most are that you have to have every station covered well, and you have to be efficient. That’s why it is a good idea to never have too sharp of a turn in your line, it slows the locomotives down. I like to have fluid lines that never make a rapid stop. If a new station appears, either use another line that you have been saving, or completely redesign your track as you can delete all of it at once, or take tracks off the edges of a line. That’s the only thing that has annoyed me about this game so far- you can’t take away a track in the middle. If you don’t want your line to stop at that track, but it isn’t on the edge, you have to delete the whole thing.
Overall, I really enjoy Mini Metro. A charming, bright, minimal indie game with just enough challenge to keep me coming back, and just enough variety to keep me playing. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes a game that can relax you, but also offers a challenge. If I were to give it a score, I’d say an 8.5/10. I would like more features implemented as the game improves throughout early-access. It’s a great game for a good price, but I wish there was a little more to do. The only gameplay drawback is it is a little awkward to re-route or get rid of metro railways without deleting your entire rail.

So all in all, it's a great game for a great price. I implore you to pick it up and I can't wait to see new content added.
