Od twórców:

Dlaczego wczesny dostęp?

“Nuclear Throne was originally created during MOJAM 2013 as a tiny, two day prototype called 'Wasteland Kings'. We never stopped adding little things to the game, even as we moved on to other projects. We had livestreamed development during MOJAM, and decided to continue doing that while we worked on a full version of the game.”

Ile mniej więcej czasu trwa faza Wczesnego dostępu?

“The game will be in Early Access until it is done, at which point it'll launch on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Until that point, we release weekly updates (each weekend) and livestream every Tuesday and Thursday frmo 1PM CET to 5PM CET on http://twitch.tv/Vlambeer.”

Czym różni się zaplanowana pełna wersja od tej z Wczesnego Dostępu?

“Nuclear Throne will feature seven full worlds of procedural action, four main bosses, tons of secrets, more than 75 weapons, 10 mutants, dozens of powerful mutations and local multiplayer.”

Jaki jest obecny stan wersji z Wczesnego Dostępu?

“The game is fully stable and playable, and has new additions made to it every weekend.”

Czy cena gry ulegnie zmianie podczas i po Wczesnym Dostępie?

“If you want to wait until the game is done, it'll be available for $11,99 after development is complete. We're not doing any sales or bundles until the game is out of Early Access - we want people that really care about the game to buy and play it now. If you're curious as to how a game like this evolves or grows, now is the time to jump in.”

Update #60 - The Gun Update - Weekend of January 23rd

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BVUqfO55mY

Brace yourselves, this is a big one! Our short break helped re-energize us a bit, and that has resulted in this ridiculously feature-filled monster of an update.

Let's just dig into things: First of all, we've broken the 100-gun barrier, putting us at a grand total of 101 weapons! Celebrate this landmark moment by trying out some of the new Golden Weapons, or the incredibly powerful Devastator!

We've also managed to include the final Ultra Mutations, with brand new abilities for Fish, Plant, Eyes (we replaced the homing projectiles with something way more fun), and Yung Venuz. This doesn't mean we're done with the Ultras, as some of them might still be changed around and most of them still need some love, but it does mean you can safely take the Crown of Destiny without ending up with empty hands!

Besides all that, all the weapon sound effects have been redone and we've added a bunch more sounds to weapons that didn't have their own voice yet. There's also two new ambiences for the 0_1 level, an updated Crown Guardian track and a unique little jingle for when you beat those! And all that is just the main features, we haven't even gotten to the fixes (hammerhead and strong spirit have been given a boost), the new ultra icons, or any of the millions of other things we've done!

Please dig in, and let us know what you think!

    Features
  • A new load of Golden Weapons! Say hello to the Golden Slugger, Assault Rifle, Plasma Gun, Screwdriver, Splinter Gun and Bazooka! These won't be nearly as easy to get as the normal Golden Weapons.
  • The Devastator.
  • New Ultra Mutations for Eyes, Fish, Plant and Yung Venuz!
  • Icons for all Ultra Mutations, Hammerhead and Strong Spirit.
  • Remastered and brand new weapon and swap sounds!
  • Updated Crown Vault tracks, and new ambience tracks for 0_1.

    Balancing
  • The Heavy Slugger now has a way higher rate of fire, but less range.
  • Hammerhead now requires you to really push against a wall.
  • Strong Spirit now saves your live once, and recharges by returning to full HP. Really needs visual some effects for communication purposes, but we haven't gotten to that yet.
  • No more Crown Portals in the Palace!
  • Robot gets slightly less drops from eating Golden Weapons now.
  • You'll no longer find the Golden Revolver on loops!

    Fixes
  • Robot's Regurgitate should now work as intended.
  • Fixed a problem with the ambience track in the menu.
  • Steroids doesn't have Stress by default on their secondary weapon anymore.
  • Weapon Chests on the same level should've stopped dropping the same weapon.
  • Fixed a problem with the Ultra Shovel HUD icon.
  • Fixed the sprite origin of the Hyper Rifle and Plasma Minigun.
  • Fixed a crash related to the Sewers loop boss.
  • Hopefully fixed the early portal bug Big Dog has.
  • Fixed the description for Plant's Throne Butt.

    Misc
  • Tweaked the way mutations look on the HUD.
  • Ultra weapons now have green outlines on the HUD.

It's good to be back!

Nuclear Throne is the best of Borderlands and The Binding of Issac boiled down to an art in the form of a turbocharged SNES game that feels so good to play it has to be illegal in some states. You can choose to play as a hard boiled mutant fish police officer, living crystal with the ability to reflect bullets on cue, a multi-eyed alien with no mouth with the power of telekinesis, a living corpse with the ability to detonate the dead, a living plant that can speed around and throw vines to ensnare enemies and expand your visibility to its location on cue, an alien “gun god” who can fire guns up to four times in one click on cue, a lone surviving human scientist who became a ball of muscle through insane steroid injection able to use two guns AT THE SAME TIME, a robot able to eat guns for health and ammo, a chicken able to die and come back to life from a headless state with just one small med kit, a rebel bandit able to summon more rebels at the cost of health to build a temporary army, living plutonium able to fire beams of energy to dissolve incoming enemy fire on cue, and a rogue cop (from an interdimensional police department) on the run with explosive armor that causes no damage to them and ENERGIZED MORTAR FIRE on cue. If those character summaries don't show you what we're dealing with, let me tell you this:

NONSTOP EDGE OF SEAT ACTION.

You lower your guard and go into a room, you are more than likely dead in seconds unless you are some bullet dodging master. What else?

VOLUNTARY MUTATIONS.

You are going to want to mutate your body, it is the equivalent of leveling up in this game and gives you unique abilities from a random assortment of four option given every time you level up, some exclusive to certain characters for their specific abilities. What else?

UNENDING SATISFACTION.

You are going to love everything. This game has no saves and you won't care, it is jump in, die, jump in material that's so fast and frantic you will embrace it all from moments of epic bullet dodging from every angle, to beefy impact screen shake (with the option to change the power of it in the options), to powerful weaponry that can edge on insanity, to that final boss fight that took you 50-100 hours of training to destroy and made you double fist pump and roar out like a barbarian warlord.

The game is far from/close to being released as the full game, but any time to come in and play this is the best time as long as you can accept and anticipate changes.

Why are you reading this review? You could have already bought this game and have been playing it.

Nuclear Throne is just by far one of the best games I've played in a long time. It's replayable as heck, rage inducing(while still getting me to come back for more), and the community is one of the best I've found myself in in a while.

If you haven't caught on yet, I'm not really good at describing why I like things; but Nuclear Throne and why I like it is just hard to describe in particular. The game as a whole just has a satisfying feel that I haven't gotten anywhere else in a long time.

The Devs are great guys; I've met them at PAX, and chatted for a while about the game and such. It was a good experience.

If nothing else I'm going to say is going to convince you to buy it, just look at my hours played. That doesn't even include like, the other 300 hours I've played offline at places like the library.

This might be the best top-down shooter I have played for a long time. The controls are so tight it's practically claustrophobic. Death - and thus the end of your run - is a constant nemesis, but it is always fair. You get a bit greedy for that XP or ammo or health, push out a bit too far and you are toast; your fault, pal.

It boasts a huge variety of playable characters and "mutations" (bonuses that affect your character) so that each run feels suitably different and rewarding. Combine this with a fantastic soundtrack and appealingly chunky pixel art style and you have a real winner.

Even though it is still in Early Access, it's basically finished now, so dip in! Hugely recommeded.

This is one of the few good early access games , you can believe that : ).

Nuclear throne is a Roguelike shooter that you might enjoy if you like binding of isaac.

Note that nuclear throne is more pixelated , and the game is MUCH faster and crazier and extremely hard...
I really like this game , clocked 8 hours so far and MAN I am having so much fun with this game.

but to bring to a serious points.

Don't buy this game if you want a fully finished game with customize-able resolution and scaling and what not, Because this game does not have all that (yet ) , they are all there in options but they are not done yet, and they are working on the game frequently adding new stuff every now and then so dont threat on that : ).

You choose between 12 character, each with its own special passive and active ability and they are all fun to use, and as you level up you choose mutations which are upgrades ( Perks ), such as hp up , speed up and much more ( And they are adding more with updates), but the game is a rogue-like so yeah once you die you start over.
And the jolly fun of a (Daily Challenge) to see how much is your rank every day

Enemies are pretty tough and moves good so the ai is not bad.
A big selection of weapons , Swords, Guns, Rifles, Shotguns, and crazier things : ).
Trying to reach the nuclear throne ( I haven't reached it yet its really difficult ).
Level design is quite good , gives you the chance to attack and hide and strategies your movements.
The soundtrack is crazy, it fits this game's style, and the special effects are also pretty sweet.

I don't think its fair to anyone to write my Pros and Cons for this game yet , because honestly the only Cons I have are the ones in the game's menu options but they are working on it so it wouldn't be fair to the devs , and wouldn't be fair to a possible buyer to scare him off with it without explaining how it really is.
The game runs on a capped 30Fps, doesn't feel (Stuttery) at all , and i am not sure if they are planning to make it a 60fps later on but it doesn't matter to me anyway, the screen is not fitting on my 1366x768 resolution but LIKE I SAID they are still working on different resolution options also with scaling, so i dont worry about it.

I like what I'm seeing so far, good game , good updates, high replay value, so yes i am sure this is a good early access game for you if you'd like to enjoy this wonderful piece and support the devs on their journey with it.

TL:DR.
This is one of the good Early Access games out there , if you enjoy games such as binding of isaac or crimisonland you might wanna get it , it is similar and focusing much more on speed and action, the game is good and I recommend it to everyone who loves a good rogue-like shooter and doesn't mind the early access tag

I don't usually support Early Access games, but HOLY ♥♥♥♥, IS NUCLEAR THRONE WORTH IT!? YOU ♥♥♥♥ING BET IT.

Nuclear Throne it's the perfect blend between a Shoot 'em Up Bullet Hell, a Roguelike Top Down Shooter with some spice of RPG and an amazing soundtrack that will follow along with you and your journey of becoming the most badass ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the block.

The game it self it's fast paced, but easy AND FUN to master, you have plenty of characters (mutants) with their own skills, from a blindfolded chiken with slowmo and an anabolics-abuser macho that can dual wield any two weapons to a piranha plant that can snare enemies. You can level up by getting Radiation that is dropped from enemies and sometimes found in canisters around the levels, everytime you level up, you will be able to choose a power up when you finish a level. You start with a single weapon but can have 2 at any given time from over the 100 that the game has, they are found in the levels and can be switched anytime, find your favourite combinations and kill everytihng. Have fun.

I'm only about 2 hours in at the time of this review, and this is probably the hardest I've ever raged at a video game.

Nuclear Throne is incredibly fast-paced and frantic. It takes time getting used to the sheer amount of chaos happening at once. The game throws you right into the action with no tutorial or simplistic stages. When it comes to figuring out the game, you are pretty much left to your own devices.

This game is also INCREDIBLY HARD. Some enemies shoot out a ruthless spray of bullets, and it only takes a couple of them to kill you. With no recovery time, your character can die within seconds. Fortunately, each stage has a plethora of different weapons lying around, and each one of them has various pros and cons.

Each character has a special move specific to them, from deflecting bullets, to slow motion, to summoning allies for help and so on. This makes each character play very differently, adding to the replayability. Your character also levels up, and can pick from random mutations in order to receive various perks.

With randomly generated levels and level up bonuses the game is endlessly replayable. Which is a good thing, because you will die A LOT. And every death sends you back to the start of the game. And there's no bonuses to make the game any easier when you restart. Nuclear Throne expects you to beat the game all at once, by only using your skills.

The game is still a little rough around the edges, but it has a lot more polish than most other early access games. And it looks like Vlambeer is doing a great job at constantly working on the game.

If you have the money, get this game. It's one of the best (if not the best) twin-stick shooters that I've ever played, even at this stage. Just keep in mind that getting to the Nuclear Throne is far from easy.

Have you ever wanted to play as the illuminaughty dorito spamming airhorns while shooting through hordes of bandits, a-hole scorpions, rats, sniper robots, crows with smgs, a giant robotic cerberus, cyborg wolves, necromancers, beings made of pure solidified radiation, interdimensional police, the teenage mutant ninja turtles, then overthrow a giant throne that kills all your friends before attaning it's final form, proceed to loop and do everything for an eternal cycle until you get shot too much and decide to warp back to your space mansion? then you'll love this game, even in it's unfinished form. tough but exciting, this game is truly a bullet hell masterpiece.

boring version of what I said:

Basically you play as an outlaw in a post-apocolyptic world looking for the Nuclear Throne, an almighty source of radioactive power. the journey is not safe however, and is frought with much danger, which is why you collect "rads" to level up and gain amazing mutations to make the quest an accomplishable task.

The game plays as a top-down rogue-like action game, and is basically what happens when you mix binding of isaac and borderlands together, slap on some retro-ish graphics, then cover it in bullet hell smegma. I thoroughly enjoy this game and hope you do too. ( hopefully featuring Dante from Devil May Cry & Knuckles).

Nuclear Throne is a neat, twin-stick-shooting rogue-like, it's super fast paced, challenging, and a ton of fun to play. I'd mostly relate the gameplay to that of a randomized Hotline Miami, but with a variety of characters and run-based upgrades. The art style is great and the sound/music design is even better.

Vlambeer is a wonderful development company and seem to be handling Early Access incredibly well, they definitely deserve your time. Check out their other stuff too, specifically LUFTRAUSERS and Ridiculous Fishing, all of their games are filled with charm and relatively unique, enjoy.

This is one of the best shooters I've played.
Even though its really not too forgiving, (You start from the begining every death) I still have fun when I come back to it.
The controlls are perfect for this type of shooter.
Later levels get intense and are insanely crazy as you try to survive in all of this fun to look at places.
Its a tad bit like a Namco arcade game called Dragon Spirit.
There are lots of characters to choose from, and Im sure you'll find one that you'll stick with 90% of the time.
I was gifted this game by one of my friends, and Im very greatful for it.
