Od twórców:

Czemu Wczesny Dostęp?

“Nuclear Throne was originally created during MOJAM 2013 as a tiny, two day prototype called 'Wasteland Kings'. We never stopped adding little things to the game, even as we moved on to other projects. We had livestreamed development during MOJAM, and decided to continue doing that while we worked on a full version of the game.”

Ile czasu trwa faza Wczesnego dostępu?

“The game will be in Early Access until it is done, at which point it'll launch on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Until that point, we release weekly updates (each weekend) and livestream every Tuesday and Thursday frmo 1PM CET to 5PM CET on http://twitch.tv/Vlambeer.”

Czym różni się zaplanowana pełna wersja od tej z Wczesnego Dostępu?

“Nuclear Throne will feature seven full worlds of procedural action, four main bosses, tons of secrets, more than 75 weapons, 10 mutants, dozens of powerful mutations and local multiplayer.”

Jaki jest obecny stan wersji z Wczesnego Dostępu?

“The game is fully stable and playable, and has new additions made to it every weekend.”

Czy cena gry ulegnie zmianie podczas i po Wczesnym Dostępie?

“If you want to wait until the game is done, it'll be available for $11,99 after development is complete. We're not doing any sales or bundles until the game is out of Early Access - we want people that really care about the game to buy and play it now. If you're curious as to how a game like this evolves or grows, now is the time to jump in.”

Jak zamierzacie włączyć społeczność w wasz proces tworzenia?

“We livestream development every Tuesday and Thursday from 1PM CET to 5PM CET, are very active in our forums and upload a new build every single weekend.”

Update #44 - Small Grenades - Week of September 19th

We missed the update last week because things got too busy. A lot of work has been going on behind the screens this week, and will sadly have to stay there for a bit.

We're working on a new secret area, but it just isn't ready to implement yet. Of course, we can't just give you an empty update, so here's a pile of updates, three new explosive weapons based around tiny grenades, and some proper bug fixes!

Two thirds of the team spent our week at Fantastic Arcade, and the next week might be super busy too. After that however, we're going back to full blast. We've got some good stuff cooking.

    Features
  • Three new explosive weapons, first of which is the Cluster Launcher.
  • A GRENADE SHOTGUN. Caps intended.
  • And obviously, a Grenade Rifle.

    Balancing
  • Gamma Guts now even more damage!
  • The Hyper Launcher rate of fire has been slightly decreased.
  • The Lightning Rifle now has a higher rate of fire, but slightly less range.
  • Laser Pistol rate of fire has been decreased a tiny bit more. More changes to these coming soon probably.
  • I'm also pretty sure we fixed some weapon spawn positions, but forgot to write it down. Exciting!

    Fixes
  • Lil Hunter now drops 20 rads instead of 2.
  • Chests should no longer freak out when spawning on top of eachother, digging infinitely long tunnels.
  • Hopefully the Lightning Rifle no longer makes the game crash on Mac. Please let us know!
  • Finally squashed the bug that caused Rhino Freaks to disappear when touching a wall.

    Misc
  • Recycle Gland no longer spawns a million +1 bullet popups. This is a temporary fix untill we add a better effect.
  • Work in progress light beams can be found in the Crown Vaults now!

Enjoy!

Update #43 - Bugs and Balancing and all the beautiful stuff games are made from - Week of September 5th

Nothing major this week because of PAX-induced jetlags, but still a bit of pretty good changes and fixes! Most notably, a lot of bugs surrounding the Loop Boss have been fixed, you'll now find ammo and a weapon in 7_3, Rebel's Allies now have smaller hitboxes, making them more survivable and a bit better at pathfinding, and Plant no longer destroys its snare by walking over it! Next week we'll get a few new weapons in before we fly off again, to Fantastic Arcade, after which work on the game should speed up again!

Balancing

  • You'll now find a weapon and ammo chest in 7_3.
  • Rebel's Allies now have a smaller hitmask, making them harder to hit and slightly better at pathfinding!
  • Plant can now walk over its own snare without it getting removed.
  • The Wave Gun spawns earlier.
  • The Pop Rifle spawns slightly later.
  • Eagle Eyes now gives you even better accuracy.
  • Proto Statues have more HP.
  • The Super Flak Cannon now uses less ammo.

    Fixes
  • The game over screen now shows ??? instead of the area number when you die in a secret area.
  • Ally corpses can no longer be used to trigger portals during boss appear animations.
  • Blue squares and invisible frames should be gone, hopefully.
  • Killing the Loop Boss should no longer let you walk outside of the level.
  • Fixed some crashes/errors caused by IDPD draw code.

    Misc
  • Patience icon no longer look like a potato.
  • Gator corpses are now darker.
  • The B music for Palace is exported differently now.
  • Removed the random offsets chests got at spawn.
  • Attacking with the Golden Sledgehammer now creates sparks!

Enjoy, hope to see y'all again next week!

Polecam, w szczególności do coopa. Jest jeszcze bardziej (o ile to w ogóle możliwe) chaotycznie i szybko. Kwintesencja dobrej zabawy w rozsądnej cenie. Mocne 8+.

Do you know crunch? I mean, do you truly know the incredibly visceral, powerful and satisfying feedback that is crunch? Now go into Nuclear Throne and smack a maggots nest with a sledgehammer. Go on, I don't mind. Being inanimate text that a person typed and then abandoned, I have no sense of time. It'll be like kicking good vibes across a punch bowl (I'm also hit-and-miss with simile).

Okay, you're back! How was it-- Ohhh, I know that look! Your eyes have the enlightened glint of one who has tried the good stuff, the real deal, the prime reserve. You can't go back, now. Now, you know crunch. The real crunch. This is Nuclear Throne, and it's appeal cannot be simply summed up in a few words. It's referred to as an "action roguelike-like(-like)" because it is difficult to put into a genre. Because it is its own genre. If I were to call it anything, it would probably be "Randomly-Generated Action Crunch with Permadeath", which I am predicting will be a cereal by 2019 (sans permadeath, unless we don't have randomly-generated cereals by then, in which case I WANT to die).

Everything about this game is crunchy. There's a power-up based leveling system (further referred to as they are in game, "mutations"), a charming and variant cast of playable characters, tons of weapons (about 73 as of this writing, but I was just in on a stream where they rather liked my suggestion of adding nunchuks), crazy enemies, b-skins, rule-altering pickups and even local 2-player! And the art and music-- Ohhh, the art and music! The beautiful and detailed pixel art, the energizing (sometimes haunting) tracks and impeccable sound design frankly shocked me. Such character and atmosphere I found myself immersed in!

The game is so easy to pick up, and yet the way you develop your character is incredibly deep. The developers waste none of their time (and consequently, your time) on anything that doesn't feel just awesome. Sure, "Mutation A" doesn't seem very good, at first. But once you learn more about "Characters D and E" and how they synergize splendidly with "Mutation A" when paired with "Mutation G", you get an "Aha" moment! Like a challenging, yet ultimately rewarding puzzle, Nuclear Throne holds a plethora of "Aha" moments for those willing to scratch past the surface and experiment with the MASSIVE number of possible character builds. And you need no mutation to love a samurai chicken! C'mon.

The developers are two guys, who comprise Vlambeer, and four others who handle the art, music and sound. They're the most down-to-earth, approachable and generally cool guys to ever make a game, probably (permission to put that on the back cover = granted). They generally update the game every Saturday with new characters, baddies, weapons, difficulty balancing and bug fixes. They even stream themselves developing said changes every Tuesday and Thursday on their Twitch channel (http://www.twitch.tv/vlambeer)! And they take feedback like pros! None of this "bleuuu, you don't like my game, banned and deleted" business. They're good people.

Oh, and you'll be dying a lot. I didn't "beat" the game until I had already logged around 100 hours (there's an end-boss, but you loop back to the beginning with higher difficulty upon defeating it), but that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying every minute up until that point and after! This is a fantasticly addictive game, with a fantastic community and fantastic developers that is already easy to recommend. The fact that it promises to only get better is just gravy!

And yes, I did a "let's play":

I love Vlambear, so this was definitely on my radar.

PROS
- Range of characters.
- Easy to get into.
- Regular updates.
- Fantastic developers.

CONS
- The perk system could use some work.

Other than the one con, which can easily be fixed, this game is a full recommendation from me.
(If you buy it off the humble store Vlambear get a cut off the sale and it supports the humble staff!)

Update (8/8/14): Seems the perk system has been improved so that complaint can be removed.

Update (29/8/14): After further addiction to this game, I can confirm it is a solid 10/10. It is by far in my top 10 games ever made.

Incredibly addictive, action packed and fun game! Great job from developers who know how early access should look like. Game feels like it is finished already (at least for me). Constant patches (at the moment patch 39) add a lot of stuff which improves the game, from simple fixes to new bosses, secret levels and skins. Definitely a game that will keep you occupied with step by step progress and feeling of achievement after completing levels and beating our nemesis. I fully support and recommend this game.

Pros:
-Addictive
-genuinely fun
-tons of multiple character build options
-fun characters
-constant challenge with looping and patches
-heaps of weapons to try out!
-great music!
-helpful community which can also provide custom challenges

Cons:
-some people don't like early access
-kind of hard but it depends on player
-wouldn't recommend for epileptic players

Other than that i can just tell you: "GO PLAY IT NOW!"
