Hva utviklerne sier:

Hvorfor Early Access?

“Nuclear Throne was originally created during MOJAM 2013 as a tiny, two day prototype called 'Wasteland Kings'. We never stopped adding little things to the game, even as we moved on to other projects. We had livestreamed development during MOJAM, and decided to continue doing that while we worked on a full version of the game.”

Hvor lenge antas det at dette spillet vil være i Early Access?

“The game will be in Early Access until it is done, at which point it'll launch on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Until that point, we release weekly updates (each weekend) and livestream every Tuesday and Thursday frmo 1PM CET to 5PM CET on”

Hvordan er det planlagt at fullversjonen vil være forskjellig fra Early Access-versjonen?

“Nuclear Throne will feature seven full worlds of procedural action, four main bosses, tons of secrets, more than 75 weapons, 10 mutants, dozens of powerful mutations and local multiplayer.”

Hva er nåværende tilstand på Early Access-versjonen?

“The game is fully stable and playable, and has new additions made to it every weekend.”

Vil spillet være priset annerledes under og etter Early Access?

“If you want to wait until the game is done, it'll be available for $11,99 after development is complete. We're not doing any sales or bundles until the game is out of Early Access - we want people that really care about the game to buy and play it now. If you're curious as to how a game like this evolves or grows, now is the time to jump in.”

Hvordan planlegger dere å involvere samfunnet i utviklingsprosessen?

“We livestream development every Tuesday and Thursday from 1PM CET to 5PM CET, are very active in our forums and upload a new build every single weekend.”

Update #56 - Portals and bolts - Weekend of December 19th

Whoa, it seems like we only yesterday added those daily runs! We'll release public leaderboards soon, but for now: an average of 1,500 entries per day, a top score of 10,500 kills (loop 8!) and ster only won one of the dailies thus far. We've been enjoying the results, and we're happy you all seem to be liking the dailies.

This week's update focusses on some of the more pressing bugs we've been facing for the while, has some of the usual tinkering, and manages to squeeze in two cool bits of end-game content as well! First of all, there's now an Ultra Crossbow! This thing has a high rate of fire, great piercing, high damage, and shoots through walls! Well, 3 of em per shot. Those poor bandits won't know what hit 'm. Secondly, there's now a third Ultra Mutation for Horror, allowing it to basically become any build you've ever dreamt of!

Anyway, enjoy this smooth, new, closer-to-bugless Nuclear Throne, and keep telling us what you think! We'll soon be looking at some of the longer-standing issues such as Fish's Throne Butt and, ahem, Lil Hunter...

P.S. something huge for the community is happening soon, and you probably won't be able to guess what. :-)

  • Ultra Crossbow
  • Horror's third Ultra Mutation. Let's see how this works out! Basically we want to get all the Ultra's in before we start fixing and redesigning the ones that don't work as well!

  • Hostile Horror now gives you 15 more rads on death!
  • More Big Bandit spawn tweaking!
  • Snowbot hitbox has been made sliiightly larger.
  • Changed Hyper Crystal wall destruction and movement code a bit. This one still needs a ton of work though!

  • Portal on 3_3 won't spawn anymore when Big Dog's still sleeping.
  • Portals now appear again when killing the Crown Guardians on loop.
  • Daily Runs now always give you that character's default starting weapon. This will mess up your golden weapons for now, but we're changing the way those are handled soonish.
  • Hopefully fixed the bug where Labs could have a portal open from the start.
  • Fixed the Ultra Shovel icon.
  • Airhorn should no longer cause crashes.
  • Fixed Daily Run data being updated by normal runs.

  • Airhorn volume has been increased again, sorry for this one.
  • IDPD should no longer spawn in Crown Vaults, 7_3 and 0_1.
  • Crabs no longer destroy props.
  • You can now find streams and report bugs through

Good luck y'all! Stay tuned for some nice news later this week, and don't forget to tune in to the livestreams on Tuesday and Thursday!

Nuclear throne (Early Access)

+ Fun, random gameplay: every run is different
+ Great weapons!
+ Interesting characters, each with a unique playstyle
+ Each mutation (i.e. perks or upgrades) makes a significant impact on your run
+ Intersting mechanics (crowns, short-cuts, randomly generated everything)
+ This game is, clearly, a labour of love. The amount of lore and detail is stunning.
+ So many more cool features to come! Every update has brought exciting new features/characters/weapons/mutations so far.
+ Probably the best fan-made wiki-page ever.

= Early access, not everything is fully implemented yet

- Far too addicting

Never written a review before. But this game is one of my all time favorites.
I've played games for a long time, and never before has one given me more frustration; driven me to insanity, and made me feel more accomplishment than this game.
if you like,
-arcade style games
-lots of guns and explosions
-high replayability
-insane boss fights
nuclear throne is for you. trust me.

I recently got this game (thanks to Star_ and his streamers) and I already have 25 hours on it. It is an amazing time killer though the game isn't complete so you may want to wait it out. Plus, I suck at these games (though I truly enjoy it) so it may not be for you for it can be unforgiving in places (which is only to be expected). If you like rouge-likes (something like Binding of Issac) then I'd say this may be for you

I first saw the game when they were developing Wasteland Kings for Mojam, needless to say, I fell in love with it. The game has come a long way since then, being far more stable and a lot of content has been added.
The game itself is a fast paced roguelike with great art and a soundtrack that matches it perfectly.

I have only clocked in about 5.1 hours of this game and so far, I'm really impressed. It's a great game that doesn't get all the recognition it deserves. It's a fast paced shooter that can put a player on the edged of his/her seat.
Anyhow here's my Pros/Cons

Players can easily adapt to game changes.
The game is exciting and fast paced.
Although hard at first it gets better with play time/experience with the game
Characters to pick through with different abilities to change up the game.
No two rooms are the same
With the "Mutations" your game will always be more diverse and interesting
A butt load of guns to discover and use
Nice music :D
Easy controls

Screen shake (You can turn it off though if you dislike it, so it's all good)
Graphics. (This one depends on the player. If you're like me you enjoy the pixel-like graphics it is, if you're a new ager((Or whatever)) then you probably wont enjoy the pixels as much.)
I honestly can't really think of anything else.

There you have it. This game is highly recommended by me. 10/10 Lovely game.

Do you know crunch? I mean, do you truly know the incredibly visceral, powerful and satisfying feedback that is crunch? Now go into Nuclear Throne and smack a maggots nest with a sledgehammer. Go on, I don't mind. Being inanimate text that a person typed and then abandoned, I have no sense of time. It'll be like kicking good vibes across a punch bowl (I'm also hit-and-miss with simile).

Okay, you're back! How was it-- Ohhh, I know that look! Your eyes have the enlightened glint of one who has tried the good stuff, the real deal, the prime reserve. You can't go back, now. Now, you know crunch. The real crunch. This is Nuclear Throne, and it's appeal cannot be simply summed up in a few words. It's referred to as an "action roguelike-like(-like)" because it is difficult to put into a genre. Because it is its own genre. If I were to call it anything, it would probably be "Randomly-Generated Action Crunch with Permadeath", which I am predicting will be a cereal by 2019 (sans permadeath, unless we don't have randomly-generated cereals by then, in which case I WANT to die).

Everything about this game is crunchy. There's a power-up based leveling system (further referred to as they are in game, "mutations"), a charming and variant cast of playable characters, tons of weapons (about 73 as of this writing, but I was just in on a stream where they rather liked my suggestion of adding nunchuks), crazy enemies, b-skins, rule-altering pickups and even local 2-player! And the art and music-- Ohhh, the art and music! The beautiful and detailed pixel art, the energizing (sometimes haunting) tracks and impeccable sound design frankly shocked me. Such character and atmosphere I found myself immersed in!

The game is so easy to pick up, and yet the way you develop your character is incredibly deep. The developers waste none of their time (and consequently, your time) on anything that doesn't feel just awesome. Sure, "Mutation A" doesn't seem very good, at first. But once you learn more about "Characters D and E" and how they synergize splendidly with "Mutation A" when paired with "Mutation G", you get an "Aha" moment! Like a challenging, yet ultimately rewarding puzzle, Nuclear Throne holds a plethora of "Aha" moments for those willing to scratch past the surface and experiment with the MASSIVE number of possible character builds. And you need no mutation to love a samurai chicken! C'mon.

The developers are two guys, who comprise Vlambeer, and four others who handle the art, music and sound. They're the most down-to-earth, approachable and generally cool guys to ever make a game, probably (permission to put that on the back cover = granted). They generally update the game every Saturday with new characters, baddies, weapons, difficulty balancing and bug fixes. They even stream themselves developing said changes every Tuesday and Thursday on their Twitch channel (! And they take feedback like pros! None of this "bleuuu, you don't like my game, banned and deleted" business. They're good people.

Oh, and you'll be dying a lot. I didn't "beat" the game until I had already logged around 100 hours (there's an end-boss, but you loop back to the beginning with higher difficulty upon defeating it), but that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying every minute up until that point and after! This is a fantasticly addictive game, with a fantastic community and fantastic developers that is already easy to recommend. The fact that it promises to only get better is just gravy!

And yes, I did a "let's play":

Yes, yes, yes, AH!
It's the
Dead body lootin', mutant shootin' Venus youthin',
Rootin' tootin', Luger totin' Ruger loadin',
Bullet throwin', way too long grenade holdin',
Triangle, I might mangle your weapon to rap,
Flash color coded clips and an RPG hat,
Baby baby blue ammo, turn red when it clap,
Shoot your face in the fat, give your cadaver a slap,
Where the level boss at?
I wanna click-click-clack cha-pow, click-click-click-clack that.
I see him, shoot him, skin him, wear him, mount him on the wall,
If completely armor plated, I'ma shoot it in the
maw, like a black hole, a vulture flock,
You violently challenge, your thangs don't ♥♥♥♥,
Your things get shot, your party stop,
When I roll up Teen Wolfin' on the ambulance top,
This ain't no game, ain't never been no show,
And I'll gladly gun down the oldest lady you know.

I don't need no friends, I don't need no phone,
Just a bag of severed heads and my Nuclear Throne,
I don't need no bread, I don't need no home,
Just everybody dead and my Nuclear Throne.

If you take a look at my ever interested growing hours of a procedurally generated replay-value based shoot em up SNES graphic adventure game filled with randomly generated secrets and guns and textures.

Would you look at the underrated game that gets updates every week? That will keep on getting updates every week until early 2016?

This game is a lot of fun. A real Vlambeer gem, with weekly updates and randomly generated levels, weapons and such its one of them indies that basically never ends. In this masterpiece you play one of many 'mutants' with hope in their eyes, looking to reach the Nuclear Throne! Out of my 135 or so friends only 3 of them play it, I highly recommend you pick it up!

After playing a bit more of this, I can honestly say that this game is fun. It's a run-and-gun rpg bullet hell roguelike shoot-em-up from my own backyard (because Holland is about the size of a typical backyard). There are many aspects to making a game, and all of those (or at least most) have to be met in order for a game to be truly good. This game does just that. It takes every single one of my conditions for a good game and fills them in. Twice. Actually, I have two sets of conditions for the only two types of games that can ever be truly amazing: story-driven open world and hard-core skill & reflex fest. And it must also not be Call of Duty because that game ♥♥♥♥ing sucks balls. Anyway, this game falls into the second category, and let me explain what my criteria are and how it completely shreks the hell outta them. Unlike Call of Duty.

Enemies. Any self-respecting game needs tons of varied enemies to keep things interesting and to make a natural transition to more difficult gameplay. Don't just add lvl. 44 to your opponent and give him more health and damage, make a new one! With different attack plans, weapons, health and speed. That's how you justify harder enemies, not by giving him a higer number. This game gets that, and every stage has it's own set of mortifying enemies that are designed especially to work on every nerve in your body. It's annoying to have to get to learn every opponent by dying from them first, but that's how it works. Nothing in life ever goes well on the first try. Except Call of Duty that stupid half-♥♥♥♥♥ piece of ♥♥♥♥! Ah that game is really getting on my nerves hrrrrrgghhh...

Difficulty. In order for a game to actually be satisfying it has to be hard. Have you ever felt proud after you have eaten a banana? No? Wanna know why not? Because even a monkey could do it. It's not hard, it's not special, anyone could do it. Just like beating Call of Duty. It's not rewarding to do something anyone could do, it's only rewarding when you put time and effort into it. When you have thought about that glorious moment of opening a banana every second for the past 4 months of pure struggling. When you have longed for the taste of a banana for all that time. That's when eating a banana feels good, and that's what REAL men go for. And that struggle is exactly what makes Nuclear Throne rewarding to loop. That's right, Nuclear Throne is in fact unbeatable, for it has no end.

Weapons. Preferrably of varied rarerity. A good selection of guns, of which at least a few hard to get, makes any game more enjoyable. It is necessary in games that are intended for replay, since playing the same game over and over again requires at least some aspect of variety. Hence the perks, random levels and tons of weapons. It's all there to keep you, the paying consumer, indulged in the game so that you'll tell your friends how cool it is and they would buy it too. Variety is the spice of life, they say, and I think the best example of that is having lots of guns in a run-and-gun rpg bullet hell roguelike shoot-em-up type of game.

A good game also requires some type of milestones to help players remember that they ARE making progress! In this game that is done with levels and bosses. Anytime you beat one, you will know again that you have become better, encouraging you to play some more (and tell your friends about it)!

Furthermore, under no circumstance should a good game ever be Call of Duty. Fortunately, this game is in fact NOT Call of Duty, and therefore meets this condition.

I would have a few more criteria, but I think those speak for themselves. Anyway, there you have it, a great game and the reasons why! I do encourage you to go out and buy this game, even though it is not finished yet. It is already immense fun and more than worth your while and money.

Incredibly addictive, action packed and fun game! Great job from developers who know how early access should look like. Game feels like it is finished already (at least for me). Constant patches (at the moment patch 39) add a lot of stuff which improves the game, from simple fixes to new bosses, secret levels and skins. Definitely a game that will keep you occupied with step by step progress and feeling of achievement after completing levels and beating our nemesis. I fully support and recommend this game.

-genuinely fun
-tons of multiple character build options
-fun characters
-constant challenge with looping and patches
-heaps of weapons to try out!
-great music!
-helpful community which can also provide custom challenges

-some people don't like early access
-kind of hard but it depends on player
-wouldn't recommend for epileptic players

Other than that i can just tell you: "GO PLAY IT NOW!"
