Magic system in the bioshock games were better and more badass. This game makes mages un-badass. If you want to do some epic magic combo stuff, try Magicka or Bioshock Infinite. Both have better magic. In this game, you can't combine spells or anything to make a cooler effect. In Magicka, you constantly invent your own spells with elements, like Water, Lightning and Fire. Oh, and theres something called Magicks, too. Like Meteor Storm, Lightning Storm, Phoenix, Conflagration, etc. etc. So yeah, this game is the first game where the mage is a total weakling. Oh, and Bioshock Infinite, A FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER, has some ♥♥♥♥ing EPIC spell combinations, like lifting people into the air and then charging into them and slamming them 99999999 kilometres away, or making a ghost possess them, then throw a fireball at the possessed guy to make him shoot firebullets. How awesome is that? Oh, and Dishonored. You can teleport, slow down time around you (stop time if Bend Time is at level 2), summon a rat swarm, slam people into walls with wind blast (thats pretty disgusting tho, they kinda fall appart xD), see people through walls, and, if you get the DLCs, you can lift people into the air and stab them, and you can summon assassins. Oh, and the new bonecharms become available in the main storyline, too. And now, what can you do in Lichdom: Battle"mage"? You can throw fire at some overpowered enemies, and guess what? You also have Ice, Lightning, Kinesis, Delirium, and Corruption! BUT WAIT! The good thing is, that you cant combine any of it, and it all is basically the same: 1 targetted spell, 1 AoE, and 1 Shield spell. For EVERY element in the game.

So yeah, it should be: "Play the first game where the mage is a total weakling!" instead of: "Play the first game where the mage is a total badass!"

Great Concept, with some small flaws. (SPOILER ALERT (MAYBE))
The game makes you fell so invincible, but in a way that makes you fell it is because of you. You get pushed back all the tim by monsters, and have to think about how it would be smartest to kill them ex. Freezing them all and then taking them out with a full fireball. It fells so good. The graphics are amazing thinking about this is a very young pre-alpha.

The Flaws (that need to be fixed before the full game.)
The meeting with the first friendly NPC (The catching scene) is very buggy. She keeps disapeering, and it is SO laggy. It is almost imposible to play after this.
The crafting and "i" menu (I think it's the inventory) is very weird and doesn't make any sense to me. A tutorial would be nice and an explanation to what the different spells' abilities are. An idea could be to show a video of every spell when you want to craft it.
Those are the only major bugs I've faced so far, and I really look forward to the full game.
(And one last thing: MULTIPLAYER OR COOP. That would be SSSSSOOOOOOO EPIC) :-D
