In the coming Walker update we are moving some ribbons around and adding a bunch of new ones.
We are rolling the rifle ribbons into a new “Infantry Assault” ribbon and the tank ribbons into one “Armor Assault” ribbon.
But what about my progress on the removed ribbons? We’ll take your progress from the individual ribbons and ADD them together, so a lot of you might start the new ribbon at a very high level, we thought this is the most fair thing to do.
ARMOR & INFANTRY ASSAULT
The two new ribbons introduced are the main ribbons for Infantry and Tankers and progress in these ribbons are unlocks weapons and vehicles in the different categories.
Here is an example of the Infantry Assault ribbon as it looks for a German infantry soldier.
This soldier has JUST unlocked the MG34 and the ribbon only has one last weapon category left. And most of you will be able to guess which weapon that is
If he wants to get an MG34, using that will progress the MG34 Specialist ribbon that unlocks the upgrades for the MG34. Read on for more info on Specialist Ribbons.
Here is a screenshot of how the Armor Assault ribbon looks. This time it is a Soviet Tanker that ALMOST has rank 10, that unlocks the SU-85.
Rank completion for credits/gold
You might also notice two additional new buttons above the rank. Have you been in the situation where you JUST need 23 experience points to gain a new rank in a ribbon that will unlock something awesome? Now you can complete ribbons using gold (and currently also credits), please note that the price depends on how close you are to unlocking the next level. In this update we will make more things available BOTH for gold and for credits. And yes, for now, that does include Veteran Memberships! If you for example look at the Soviet tanker above, if he wants to unlock the next rank and the SU-85 NOW! Instead of playing for it, he can spend 176 gold or 15666 credits to get to the next rank.
Another feature we’re adding in the Walker update is the introduction of ‘Specialist’ ribbons.
Each weapon and vehicle now have their own ‘Specialist’ ribbon that unlocks individual upgrades for that weapon/vehicle. We have removed the weapon upgrade categories and added the individual upgrades to the specialist ribbons. This way we can make the first unlocks faster to get, and move the higher ranked ones (and thus more expensive to repair) further up the ribbon. Acquiring the higher rank on a specialist ribbon is something that for most players will happen alongside the increasing rank, and increasing soldier salary.
Since the existing unlocks of upgrade categories, new vehicles, etc. has changed a lot – all players will start from rank 0 on the new ribbons, but upgrades and vehicles that you own will be converted
. So IF you, for example, bought a trigger for a rifle you’ll still have it, but if you had unlocked the category “scoped rifle internals” but had not acquired any of them you will have to rank up in the ribbon again. We think this is the most fair solution AND on a quick note: We’ve made sure the progression on the new specialist ribbons is quite fast in this update.
Here is an example of one of these, showing the Kar98k specialist ribbon as it looks for a German recon.
For a normal infantry the high tier scopes will not be available, as discussed in the previous post on scopes.
NB: If you have Ribbon Boosters for the removed ribbons, these will be refunded so you can decide for yourself how you want to spend the gold.
