“When we started developing Heroes & Generals it was with the intention of creating a game for the gamers as much as for ourselves. The games we have been creating in the past (back in the IO Interactive days) have all been shrouded in secrecy until they were released and therefore always carried a number of things that players did not like but we were unable to change. Because it is the players that in the end plays the game we think they should have greater influence on the development.

Since the very early days of the project in 2011 (pre-alpha stage), we invited players in to play the game and have involved our community in the making of Heroes & Generals and listened to the feedback from them. So it's a natural extension of the way we develop Heroes & Generals, to also include the Steam Community, by going Early Access.”

'Timoshenko' update introducing the Soviet faction is now live!

This latest update brings the Soviet Union to the war as the third playable faction! 3 Factions fight for domination on 3000 battlefields (1000 new). The update is named Timoshenko (after the Soviet marshal and military commander Semyon Timoshenko) and here’s a quick overview of the new features we’ve added for you to enjoy!

New Features
Soviet Union as playable faction
The Soviets are here! And they bring light tanks, medium tanks, a tank destroyer, a heavy tank, as well as a giant Anti-tank rifle, lots of new weapons, planes, paratroopers and a lot more that we have shown you in the last announcenments!

Weapon Balancing and NEW Weapon Upgrades
We have rebalanced all weapons in game and now introduce an Improved Weapon Upgrade feature, with much easier to see effects. The old (and a bit confusing) weapon mod system has been retired and mods refunded. Read more here.

Resource Pooling, Supply Line Skirmish & Retreat
All units in a battle pool their resources, to make it easier to spawn and even out Assault Teams wins/losses. Read more here. Supply line skirmish missions are now started when two Assault teams meet on a supply line AND Assault teams can now retreat from battles by sacrificing some resources as a rear guard.

El juego es muy bueno, Real pero le noto un defecto y es que no están los principales protagonistas de la segunda guerra mundial; estoy hablando de los RUSOS, los heroes, los verdaderos vencedores. Se nota que este juego lo hicieron los gringuitos que quieren ser protagonistas de aquella guerra robando los triunfos de otros.

En fin, el juego me encanta!!!

Claramente venden un producto diferente dentro del mercado de los shooter de la ww2 pero no por ello a de caer en la igualdad, tiene grandes rasgos de muy buen agrado y por el contrario verdaderas chapuzas y meteduras gordas de pata. En si el juego no esta en absoluto valanceado, simprelemte las batallas se conforman segun el mapa general estrategico.
Esto puede verse como una desventaja, o en su contraposicion, una manera de incentivar la jugabilidad, ya que pocas batllas seran iguales.

el Principal problema a mi entender, es la total falta de rigor, por parte de los creadores del juego a la hora de adaptar la jugabilidad del juego, forzando a los jugadores a realizar siempre combates en distancias de 50-100m en campo abierto, si bien en cuanto intervienen los veiculos blindados, esto se ve truncado y se comvierte en una sangria. No es nada discutible. l.o que si que es discutible son sin lugar a dudas la falsedad, y exrema cutrez a la hora de ejecutar los upgrades de las armas, para aumntar sus prestaciones. ¿ para que quiero una mira que mejora mi estabilidad con una MG34 si ni tan siquiera puedo desplegar las patas, o dispararla tumbado con una cierta veracidad? Es simplemente un Quake maquillado con aspectos cusomizables y upgrades, pero sin dudarlo ni un segundo, me atrevo a decir q es simpelmte un matadero de newies, algo simplemente detestable, que ira en detrimento del propio juego.

Unos cambios sencillos de mejora, siemplemnte. retoques a fin de cuentas, pueden lavarle la cara a este juego, con una base excelente, pero ejecutado de una manera pobre, y mal. El juego rezuma realismo en algunos aspectos, y en otros por el contrario encuentro mas interesanre regresar a los tiempos del DOOM.

Es muy buen juego y muy adictivo. Lo único que me preocupa es si cuando salga el juego nos quitarán todo lo que hemos conseguido (rifles, vehículos...) como pasó con el World of Warplanes. Esperemos que los desarrolladores tenga esto en cuenta, ya que si no, sería un fastidio..

Un juego con muy buena ambientación y grandes ideas. Mi experiencia con los servidores ha sido buena, en el apartado gráfico es algo justo y se hace muy largo obtener mejoras mediante la moneda que obtienes en cada partida sin recurrir a las microtransacciones. Especialmente divertido en entornos cercanos ya que cuando superas las primeras partidas de acondicionamiento y pasas a las misiones más complejas con mapas muy grandes se puede llegar a sentir escaso de jugadores. Deberían mejorar el equilibrado de equipos.

Aun así y con todo, recomendado.

me mola al principio me parecia un poco raro pero despues va cojiendo fuerza en jugabilidad tiene algunos errores porque esta en beta todavia la fisica es mejorable y los garficos parecen un juego de cinco años atras hasta el level tres no ves todavia todo el potencial de esta juego porque se pega a abrir muchas opciones

bien nivelado tiene un modo en que no puedes desplegar tu tanque hasta que caiga otro de tu equipo para nivelar porque si no tod serian doce tanques contra otros doce y seria realista no habia tanques para todos

This game was really good, untill they NERFED how much XP and CREDITS you get. For me to level up one time, would take 2000 victories.
My main solider is a German at level 15. Xp required to next level = 1,000,000 xp. 1 win = about 500 xp, do the math.

You almost dont earn any credits anymore so you cant buy ammo, you cant buy new weapons, you cant repair your guns and vehicles unless you pay real money for it.

It has become pay to win... GG

This game has alot of potential... But the matchmaker is ridiculous.

You can start off this game, and begin your grind to become a Tanker, Pilot, even a Paratrooper... but it really blows when you're facing people who have already done that grind and played thousands of games, upgraded everything with mindblowing credit cost... and they just wipe the floor with you.

First 2 ranks were so much fun(you're facing other beginers), but once you hit the third rank, You literally face everyone else. No more getting to know the game and learn... my buddies and I hadn't even upgraded a gun and we were in a match vs a Tiger2 and planes swooping and bombing us...

It was funny but who wants to play that? we were just free kills... I guess that's how they get people to spend money? F that... I played World of Tanks for over a year without spending a penny because the matchmaker put you vs things you could at least kill...

And whats up with the starter US tank? you cant even pen the starter Axis tank... but it can one shot you ofcourse...

Some major work needs to be done here... And I hope it does cause the first 2 ranks were so much fun.

Games economy is in horrible state.
In a match where noone does anything but camp, i made 4-5k of credits and used below 10 shots of panzerschreck the first Anti-tank capability you can get. (yes you can find panzerfausts ingame but they are rare)

After the match resupply cost is RIDDICULOUS 6-7k.
basicly just by using few shots of a bazooka or panzerschreck you wont make any money you lose it and this is just ONE example of the games economy.

Another thing is this:

You unlock your first tank on say... germans okay.. then you go into a match just to encounter bunch of Stuarts with their uber cannons, 2 or 3 shots and you are gone with your petty machingun tank.
Sure you can encounter tanks like a tiger in your first tank, how great is that ?

moreover the items in this game cost a lot. 30 good matches and MAYBE just maybe you get your first new gun beside the IMO good price range Submachinegun.

conclusion: I dont recommend this game to ANYONE in its CURRENT STATE. unless they change the economy of the game i for one wont be playing the game.

If y'all have actually taken the time to read all that I suppose you deserve an actual review.
Overall a solid game with a ton a few bugs. But hey, It's an Early Access game so it's alright. Biggest problems are the wicked nerfed rifles which take about five hits from a good distance to kill. Of course the rifles can actually be pretty good when upgraded but will always fall short to the infamous SMGs. With a steady aim and a good sense of bullet drop you can pull off kills at long ranges with SMGs easier than with a rifle. And despite being a "tactical shooter" I've noticed that the stupidest and most suicidal plans actually succeed and often yield great rewards for your insanity. As per my studies, a bicycle ambush through forests very rarely fail. On higher level matches vehicles can play a pretty good role, but in simple skirmishes you'll find a poor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who bought the jeep running around with a full truck only to have the entire crew mowed down by yolo-rushing SMG troopers. Don't get me wrong, the game is no Anti-Christ; but rather a brilliant consortium of amazingly effective yet horrible strategies that are quite entertaining. If there was a middle ground for reviews I'd probably be dead in the center.

EDIT: So apparently they are sorting people by "Tier". These Tiers break the community between the Tier 1-Noobs and the Tier 2-Everyone Else. Given this sorting system, the second you hit Tier 2 you are thrown into matches with super high level players. I've been playing for three days and now I'm being put against people who have been playing for a year. This means that instead of having a close fight with someone with a similar weapon as yourself, you will be sniped by Thompsons, mowed down with upgraded BARs, blown up by tanks, and bombed by aeroplanes. Oh where have the good days gone?
Don't even get me started on weapon balancing.

Official rating: 5/10. Would be raised by fixing of major issues.

I decided to change my review for this game after the Timoshenko update.

I have been playing this game for quite a long time now, and it seemed to have just reached the point where it was getting fun and my skills and practice were paying off.

That was, until the Timoshenko update this week.

I thought "Oh wow, Soviet teams! That will be awesome!" I started playing a map and suddenly these brand new Soviet characters were charging down the field like an unstoppable beast, capturing all of the points and one-shotting all of my teammates. Map after map, it was the brand new Soviet characters winning.

If they were just added to the game, how are they outperforming players that have been playing for a year?!?!

The answer is that the newest update has really leveraged the pay to win, and most of the soviet teams' characters were bought with real money as an "Academy - Trained Character." Academy trained is basically a cheat code to bypass INSANE amounts of play time. I didn't mind the veteran accounts and the booster ribbons for boosting XP. Sure, that's p2w too, but this new advantage for payers is just ridiculous. It's not even fun to play anymore.

I'm not one of those anti-profit people, but there is a balance. The devs essentially are pushing away a huge portion of their fan base that has been playing for a long time because now they're getting their butts kicked by noobs with a credit card.

I gave this game my enthusastic recommendation and time, but now I'm going back to change it. Pay to win was always there to some degree, but now it's at the level where the game is ruined. It's too bad because they made a great game at first. What a shame.

As much as I'd like to like this game (and I do), I can't support it due to several glaring problems.

The first is how expensive everything is. It certainly strikes me as pay to win, it takes hours grinding up even individual mods, and to top it off, they depreceate and must be repaired, or special ammo types must be replenished. It's a game that has too many rewards for paid players, and as someone who really has no problem spending money on games, the fact that it was trying to force me to do it so much turned me off pretty quickly.

There also seems to be a lack of guns, and moreso because beyond 2 guns you can get initially (the semi-automatic rifle or the smg) the rest are trapped behind paywalls or level-ups that will take days if not weeks to obtain. Not enough choice beyond having a hamburger or a cheeseburger.

Finally, the matchmaking is very poor, and that's why I can't recommend the game. Several times tonight I was put on teams with people rank 1-3 against people ranked 7+. They clearly outgunned the teams, had access to things like tanks (when no one on my team even had access to anti-tank weapons), and could just camp objectives with tanks and we ended up losing very quickly. When I first came to the game, the Nazi's lost 9 games in a row, even when I played as Nazi's and had k/d ratios of 5:1 (and pushing objectives). The game isn't well balanced.

As far as positives, the combat itself is great. A minimal HUD lends well to the long distance combat. Shooting is difficult and takes patience, skill, and a steady hand. The maps are well done and many times I had a great time fighting big battles over objectives, with a constant back and forth attack/defend going on in the domination style skirmish mode. Even though you only get two weapons by default, both of them perform really well at their role, and seem well balanced.

All in all, this looked like such a great addition to the WW2 FPS style genre, but it really falls flat with balancing issues in matchmaker and pay to win access to skills and weapons. As much as I want to love it, it still needs work.

You see all those screenshoots of cool guns and tanks, you will get that after you pay like 50-100$ or if you play this game every day for the rest of your life.I switched to recon class today hopping that i will get started with sniping,but no you dont get cheap scoped rifle, you have to use your bolt-action rifle until your ♥♥♥ falls off. I mean seriously that rifle nearly costs as much as M26 Pershing.

Can run Battlefield 3 on high settings with 60 fps fine, but cant run this on the lowest settingsa and res on more than 5 fps?

Note: i played it before it was on steam for a long time, then it was all fine with the graphics and frames but now for some reason its not fine.i know its beta but its unplayable right now.

It is a great Game, but since last patch the balance in Matches is horrorble no chance to win. played min. 10 games with Germans, and enemy had more Tank spawns then the germans. so the enemys overrun germans after germans run out of tanks. and enemys had more then dubble number of tanks.

Anyway its an nice game, and its beta so i think they worked hard to fix problems.

I played with my friends several hours this game. While it remained quite promising as a world war II mass-fps game, the atmosphere was spoiled by all those botters and hack cheaters, using trainer programs and other "smartass" tools. This is DEFINITELY a game-spoiler tactic.

Secondly, the pay-to-win pestilence that enravages every mmo game is yet here present.. No matter how much you try to excel, there is always a limit, which can be surpassed only by paying real money.

This game is pretty decent for a beta, it has its pros and its cons, the ONE thing that i did not like at all is the exp system and the money system, they ar eboth complete crap, weapons cost WAY too much, and you get WAY too little exp for kills or completing an objective, other than that this game is excellent and I will be looking forward to the full game once it is released

Having played the game for quite some time now so I guess i will write a review.

Seems like alot of people complained and thinks this is a completely pay to win game. Well the most notable pay to win element in this game is the Badge and the extra equipment slot (which even Veteran players don't use since the 4th equipment slot is useless and is almost never used). If you are a good player you will have decent chance against a Veteran player to compensate with your skills.

second most pay to win element is the Strategic part of the game, the War is another different matter, it is about who has the most Generals/ active players = wins, but since winning the war or not has no advantage for those who have won so it doesn't really affect the gameplay at all (You gained nothing even if your faction won in the campaign). Please note since the game is free the developers of the game has to make money to feed their families, there has to be some way for them to generate revenue and to make a profit. Other than the badge and the strategic part of the game the game is not pay to win since all items in the game can be obtained without paying a coin but it will have to go through a grinding. The grinding does takes incredibly long so if grinding is not for you simply don't play this game. This is a MMOFPS game, MMO is suppose to take ages before you reach the max rank/ best gear, and paying it with real life money will skip this so it is pay to not grind. If you are expecting to win after you bought everything then you will probably regret it, simply because having everything the best you will still get killed and lose matches from time to time. How well you do will depends on how good you are in the game.

Then theres has been people complaing about getting banned without any reason and when they go to support it says they have been banned for cheating. The devs in this game takes this cheating business pretty serious, they have made it so when the game is running it will literally scans your computer to see if you are running any cheats on, so if you are running cheat engine to cheat on a flash game while Heroes and Generals is on, bam! Soon the next day when you log in your account will result in a permanent ban.

As for gameplay I still cannot understand why the devs rejects the idea of having voice chat in game, they could also implement a mute button so for those who don't like voice chat they can simply turn it off, with the voice chat it can make the game better especially when you are working with a tanker/ communicate with your team. The game is sure fun but it is 100% not fun when you are playing and joining a match that is already half-way through, what this means is that when you joined and the match ends you won't earn any credits at all (This needs serious fixing since this happened to 6/10 of my skirmish games).


Then theres people who complained about the low FPS while playing the game. Well you actually do need to have a decent PC to play this, do check this link to check if you are capable of running it. Before I bought a decent gaming PC I was constantly getting 10-30 fps in the lowest settings and it is pretty frustrating. In the future hopefully the dev will optimize the game to be on par with other AA+ titles out there.

Also to note the max player size currently for both teams is 36. Hopefully this will change in the future as it will definitely making the game more epic than the small battles we have now. Hopfully one day the British and the Japanese will be added to make this game alot better and it will become one of the very finest WW2 MMOFPS out there.

The only thing that bothers me is the balance for tanks, the balance is absolutely horrible in this game. I am one of the very few people who owned all the best available tanks from all factions so I can easilly tell which faction has the most powerful tanks. for those who are interested heres something to proof that I have played all three factions:

it covers very much all the best avilable tanks, how many penetrating shots is required to take out each other for each tank, the truth behind which faction has the most powerful tanks and which faction has the worst tanks. after discovering the truth Axis tanks remained the same in T-build and they are still the worst faction when it comes to tanks.

just an example to let you guys know how unbalanced it is for Medium Tanks in this game. For example since the T-build is out the Soviets has their T-34s to counter the US Easy8, while the Germans has the Ausf.H. The Ausf.H requires 3 sometimes 4 penetrating shots to take out the Easy8/ T-34s, but both Easy8/T-34s only requires 2 penetrating shots to destroy the Ausf.H. From what I heard from the devstream the devs said one day the panther will be implemented, but they added the Soviet T-34s without a counterpart for Axis. its making it clear which faction is being in favors in this game and i don't like where this is going.

All i can say is if you are really looking forward to play as a tanker in the Axis, don't bother, I do not think Axis tanks will ever be improved and will remained as is. All the forum warriors will tell you that Axis tanks are balanced when they are not. I would not recommend this game if you are planning to play on the Axis for tanks.

Well I gave it a good shot and played for 18 hours.

Damage:
You probably don't remember the days when Soldier of Fortune came out and you could literally blow the bad guys arms and legs off. Well I'm not looking for that, as there are kiddies present, but what I am looking for is some damage effect. Since when can a person get wounded by three or four bullets and still run, move and aim like a champion?

HUD:
So you've stealthfully walked, run, swam and crawled your way across half the map to capture a point and when you do a big circle appears over your head and tells every player on the map where you are. Almost as incoherent are the 'enemy spotted' tags which appear over your head if you ever dare fire your weapon. No matter how cleverly hidden you are, every enemy soldier on the map will see a nice red arrow pointing at you if you do. The only solution is to emulate the snipers who camp on top of a hill at the back of the action if you want to rack up the kills.

Tanks:
The tanks are seriously over powered which ruins it for anyone in the infantry. This could so easily be balanced with early access to anti-tank grenades.

Linear Warfare:
The main disappointment for me is the linear battles where you must take point A before point B before point C etc. This makes it far too easy for the enemy to park a tank at point B or just pound it endlessly with shells knowing that if we fail to take that one undefendable barn then the whole battle is over.

Conclusion:
What could well have been a great open world game is now a counter strike clone with tanks that take no damage from rocket launchers. Spawn, get sniped, spawn, get tanked, spawn and get shot by the guy hiding in the loft where you spawned. I almost gave in and was going to spend some money to buy a shovel but thought better of it. Play it for a while until the battle fatigue and shell shock sets in, even throw the devs a dollar or two, then go do something constructive.
