Disco Dodgeball Livestream Charity Battle Royale THIS WEEK!

For all of this week, I'm running an event to get more players into Disco Dodgeball and raise a bunch of money for charity.

My plan is to get livestreamers to battle each other live, and direct people to purchase the game from my website where it is 50% off. Half of these game sales will go to charity.

Disco Dodgeball .35 released! New level, new powerup, team autobalancing + more

.35 is now available for download. It's only been a week since the last update, but I was able to fit a good amount of new stuff in it!

- New level: Nexus. It's very wide-open with a small pit in the middle. It's kind of like how Cage used to be, but with much more distance between spawns and overall much larger, so it shouldn't be quite as chaotic. May require teamwork to distract enemies and get them from different angles.
- New powerup: Boomerang ball. This will cause a dodgeball to fly back to you after it hits any surface or enemy. Thanks Kalaster1 for the suggestion!
- Added team balance / shuffle / preserve game option
- Better Stats panel
- Added more ball railings in various arenas
- Made random level option more random (won't repeat last four arenas)
- Greatly improved homing ball algorithm
- Video options for vSync / AlienFX
- Increased Hot Potato timer from .5 seconds to 1 second
- 'Disconnect' changed to 'Exit Match'
- Fixed homing target not appearing if picked up duplicate homing powerup
- Ball throw distance now transmitted more consistently
- Hid network options while in-game
- Homing on a friendly target cancels if player picks up ball
- Fixed powerups always being on, even in challenge modes
- Host can now assign teams from the players panel
- Fixed bots sprinting while in match countdown
- Stopped cursor locking / disappearing if respawning as spectator and had menu open
- Fixed bot match / create match settings not always appearing correctly if swapping between them

Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball is a first-person sports shooter where you race around a dance club and nail each other with glow-in-the-dark dodgeballs. Combat is entirely focused on physics-based projectiles so you can bounce, deflect and catch enemy fire or perform 360 no-scope stunt shots.

It's kind of like having a throwing knife fight at a rave while riding go-karts.

Current Features

  • Free Online Multiplayer with one-click server setup and LAN support
  • Singleplayer Modes like challenge scenarios with unlockable upgrades, or play bot matches against devious AI
  • Nine different dance club combat arenas that pulse to the beat of an amazing electronic music soundtrack

Singleplayer Game Modes

- each with level-specific leaderboards
  • AIR RAID - You've got a jetpack and homing dodgeballs - fly around and rain down fire on an enemy team while teammates throw you alley-oop passes.
  • JUGGERNAUT - You must face a huge army of AI bots - but you are invincible and have a huge dodgeball. Go on a crazy rampage and rack up as high of a score as you can in two minutes.
  • FUGITIVE - Grab the golden Super Ball and race around the arena, dodging and blocking enemy fire for as long as you can.
  • HORDE - You've got one life and are facing increasingly difficult waves of enemy bots. Avoid fire while going for as many trick shots as you can pull off.

Multiplayer Game Modes

- most available in FFA and team variants
  • DEATHMATCH - Battle other bots in a race to get the most KOs.
  • SCORE BATTLE - Try to nail the most ridiculous trick shots on each other as you race to get a target score. Launch yourself high up off one of the many skate park ramps and land a high-difficulty (but high-point value) skill shot.
  • ELIMINATION - Just like classic Dodgeball rules - get hit once and you're out for the round! You can also catch a ball to resurrect a teammate. Matches are very tense and tactical.
  • SUPER BALL - Grab the Super Ball and hang onto it for points. All your enemies will be aiming for you, but if you have an open teammate you can pass it to them and keep racking up the score. It's incredibly dramatic when the timer is ticking down and you have one last shot on the Super Ball carrier to save the game for your team.
  • HOOPS (FFA/Team) - Grab the Super Ball and smash it through the enemy goal ring to score a point. Use teamwork to pass the ball around and dominate your opponents.
  • DEMOLITION DERBY - Race around checkpoints while dodging projectiles thrown by your enemy racers. Will require lots of power-sliding to keep your momentum high as you plot the best course through the dance club. Other teammates should focus on blocking the enemy team's race leader.
  • CAPTURE THE CUBE - Grab the enemy power cube and bring it back to your base. Use strategic teamwork to toss the cube across the arena for a quick score. Protect your teammates as they carry the cube, and save the day by nailing the enemy cube carrier and returning it safely to your base.

I've been following this game since it's beta, long before it got greenlit.

RRDDD (or just Disco Dodgeball) is an easy to learn, hard to master multiplayer game (or singleplayer, against bots) that I loved since the first time I've played it.
The game basically consist of silly robots playing deadly dodgeball in several arenas. Different game modes add a lot of variety. For instance: classic deathmatch, FFA modes, hoops (think dodgeball mixed with basketball), elimination, and more.
There are also different "skill shots", that depends on the way you kick an adversary's ♥♥♥, and rewards you with cool explosions, xp, an epic voice anouncing your shot, and the right to brag a little and feel great.

There's a lot of things I'm probably forgetting, but all in all, this game is insanely fun, highly playable for an early access, easy to learn, and the community is great.

Special mention to Erik, the Dev. Great guy and really invested in Disco Dodgeball. You'll probably find him kickin' some ♥♥♥ in the game from time to time!

The best multiplayer game I have ever played. Gameplay is really fun (like Unreal or Quake), soundtrack is AMAZING. Buy it. Play it with friends, friendly community, or just with bots. You will enjoy this game.

i have seen this game grow so much, its always been loads of fun! and its only gonna get more fun! smashing your freinds in the face with a dodge ball is extremely entertaining! with several different game modes to choose from, with a variety of maps, and player customization. this game is tottaly worth the price :D

Hands down the best investment I've made on Steam up to date.

Robot Roller Derby-Disco Dodgeball, (the name is awesome) is in the lines of something i would call "Competitive Fun" it's just get the ball and throw it at some one and it can't be more simple that this, and because of it's simplicity it's one of the most competitive games out there, plus the disco rooms and great music adds a more since of fun to the game and some simple customization (im a robot cat disco dodgeballer :3 ) and would recomnd this to anybody if they want to have "Competitive Fun"

It's unique, fun, and just plain perfect at what it is trying to accomplish. Easily worth the purchase.
The music simplistic design and core gameplay carry it and they do so well. I never though a game with robots on one wheel playing dodgeball would be one of the best shooters this year.

Being created by only one person is both impressive and surpring.

The developer deserves a Nobel Prize. Would buy again.

Disco Dodgeball is a game that grabs you by surprise. You first try it out and don't expect to like it all that much but then you look and it's been nearly 30 minutes of you throwing glowing balls at robots with moustaches. Seriously addicting and I cannot wait to see this game come out of early access.

I've been playing this game since January, and this game has come a long way from where it was a few months ago. The time, effort, and love put into this game is definitely noticeable! From free for all matches, Team modes, over 6 different game types and even a score attack Horde mode, this game has a lot to be proud of!

If you like multiplayer games that are fast paced, have lots of different game modes, and even lets you customize your character's looks, this game is for you!

I ♥♥♥♥ING LOVE THIS GAME. It is absoulutely AMAZING! Fast paced fun in a cool disco. It's easy to get into, but it's also very hard to master. The trick shots are satisfying and the other game modes and epic. I am SO looking forward to the new updates! I love this game so much! 1000000/10

I bought Disco Dodgeball on Erik's website back in February. I must say it is an amazing game made by an amazing developer. Any time I tweet out at Erik he responds 99.99% of the time. He is very active with the community. I've played this game way more than my Steam profile says so. It's a nice twist on the usual FPS. Very refreshing. I highly recommend this game.

Oh, and the robots have mustaches. 11/10.

Amazing soundtrack too. :)

This is a quick, fast-paced, hyper stimulating game of dodgeball. As a robot, you wheel around picking up the neon balls (pretty much everyhing is neon in this game) and throw them at people. Deathmatch and it's team based counterpart are not all this game has to offer however. Superball is a personal favorite of mine, where there is one yellow ball, and the holder gegts one point every second for his team, while his teamates protect him, and enemies try to hit him. The soundtrack is pretty good, and having played from early beta, the developement has come a long way, and I don't see it stopping any time soon. As for the price tag, mehhh. If you think the game looks great, go ahead and buy it, also if you have a couple extra bucks to throw around. But personally, for me, $10 is a little on the high side, I would wait for one of Steams fantastic sales. I got a key through my Humble Bundle page just for having the Beta. This isn't much of a sit down with your friends and play kinda game, so don't expect that either. Usually when I play this game I just log half an hour and then find something else, but it doesn't get boring in the log run, I just don't find it attention grabbing enough that I can sit through an hour long play session. And with 3-10 minute games (depends on the team stacking) I don't think thats too unreasonable. As of the writing of this review, I only have .8 hours on record, but don't be mislead, I got a key from the developer a couple months ago on reddit, so most of my hours are logged on there. Overall, yes it's good and I recommend it, but the price tag does seem a tad high.

Don't let my play time on steam fool you. I've been playing both this and the alpha for probably a good 30-40 hours and all I can say is wow! This game is one of the most addicting, competitive, and fun games I think I've ever played and it's still in early access! I've seen no bugs so far, no issues, just a well rounded game with great potential. And with 7 different gamemodes (Deathmatch, FFA, Hoops, Horde, Elimination, etc.) in it, you'll be wondering if you'll ever want to stop playing. Awesome game, awesome music, awesome everything!

Day #1:
Bought this new game called Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball. Looks like another line-up of poorly done indie-games that look like they could be fun if effort was put into it. Guess we'll see if this is any good tomorrow.

Day #2:
Oh my... I can't beleive this. This game is so freakin' awesome! It's so simple and yet so much fun! I'm having the time of my life. I'm beginning to think I've found a jewel here.

Day #3:
Disco Dodgeball is taking over my life. I thought Skyrim was bad. I'm playing it all the time during my waking hours. And when I go to bed I'm thinking about playing the next day. I'm dreaming about making helicopter and alley-oop game winning shots. I can't stop.

Day #4:
Not in my house. Denied. Dunk. Quick-draw. *twitch twitch*

Massive amounts of fun for a small pricetag. Very reminiscent of old school instagib in my opinion, just made much more accessible. Being a "unicycle" with very limited boost and jump abilities really helps slow the game down to a very fun manageable pace. I would imagine beginners would be able to scrap together a few kills and have a good time while veterans are busy slamming the ball off your face with style (mid-air 360s), and are rewarded for that.

Great soundtrack and super fun gameplay (even solo with bots, moreso with friends though).

The game is early access and beware, there are still some odd bugs like not actually picking up a ball when you may have thought you grabbed it. There are also issues matchmaking with friends, but I would imagine come release this game will take full advantage of Steam and being able to join/invite friends.

This game is freaking fantastic to jump into for a few minutes with your friends, and then just get lost in. I once intended to play for an hour or so and then found myself still playing after about six. The networking code is solid, the colors and glow effects are fantastic, the gameplay is fair, the pace is fast, the game is fun, the time is now! Buy the game!

This game is great. It takes the childhood fun of playing Dodgeball and brings it into the future era where you control robot players while listening to the thumping disco/techo soundtrack. The action is quick and frenetic. You can even grab a ball thats shot at you and then fire it back, just like in your grade school gymnasium!

I love this game! When I bought it on the 82apps website I was excited to learn I'd be getting two Steam keys for it (one to keep, one to gift) so I was so glad to gift it to my best gaming buddy. Late the other night I told him I'd free up 5 minutes to give it a try real quick...an hour later I didn't want to stop playing!! I normally don't like games I can't use a controller with but with this game I keep my middle finger on the W and my pinky on the Shift (for extra speed). Still getting used to the controls but man this game is addicting! I hope to see lots of improvements in the future, like more music! 9/10 dodgeballs
