Update 01.136 - Bug Fixes and Improvements

In this week's update, we're bringing you lots of bug fixes and improvements. The biggest fix is for ship toolbars - they're now synchronized between the server and the clients, so you'll no longer lose your configurations when you rejoin a server. Also, you will correctly see any modifications made to a toolbar by other players.
We've also improved the 3rd person camera, which now acts differently based on whether you are in a ship or station control seat. Because of these changes, the 3rd person camera should now be much easier to control. It's also easier to merge stations when using copy and paste. A number of issues that caused crashes have been resolved, and we fixed character animations being out of sync on multiplayer servers.

Update 01.135 - Bug Fixes and Improvements

This week's update brings you several improvements for modders that we've merged from our community on GitHub, plus more bugfixes. From Tyrsis we have production API changes and terminal changes, so modders can now create their own terminal interfaces such as buttons, sliders, etc. Another addition is Malware's Ship Data update and remote control fixes that makes Coop mode work when a conveyor block (or any block that doesn't have an owner) is between the master and slave assemblers. And last but not least, we have Rexxar's projector ModAPI changes which have added more ModAPI interface to the projection API.
Our GitHub source code has also been updated.
Many thanks to our entire community for helping us develop the game and raise the bar for modding possibilities. We're simply in awe of all the mods and creations you guys publish on the Workshop :)

Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses (civil and military), pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive. Featuring both creative and survival modes, there is no limit to what can be built, utilized and explored.

Space Engineers features a realistic, volumetric-based physics engine: everything in the game can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed. The game can be played either in single or multiplayer modes.

Volumetric objects are structures composed from block-like modules interlocked in a grid. Volumetric objects behave like real physical objects with mass, inertia and velocity. Individual modules have real volume and storage capacity.

Space Engineers is inspired by reality and by how things work. Think about modern-day NASA technology extrapolated 60 years into the future. Space Engineers strives to follow the laws of physics and doesn't use technologies that wouldn't be feasible in the near future.

Space Engineers concentrates on construction and exploration aspects, but can be played as a survival shooter as well. We expect players will avoid engaging in direct man-to-man combat and instead use their creativity and engineering skills to build war machines and fortifications to survive in space and on planets. Space Engineers shouldn’t be about troops; it should be about the machinery you build.

Early Access

  • Planets and moons – inspired by real celestial objects (Earth, Mars, Alien, Moon, Europa, Titan), fully destructible & persistent, volumetric, atmosphere, gravity, climate zones
  • Game modes
    - Creative – unlimited resources, instant building, no death
    - Survival – realistic management of resources and inventory capacity; manual building; death and respawn
  • Single-player – you are the sole space engineer
  • Multiplayer - alpha version (not a final version)
    - Creative and survival mode with your friends
    - Cooperative and competitive
    - Privacy customization: offline, private, friends only, public
    - Max 16 players (this may increase in the future)
    - Weapons on/off
    - Copy-paste on/off
  • Starting Worlds
    - Earth Easy Start - start on a habitable planet with a set of basic vehicles. Your survival is threatened by attacking pirates who set up shop within range of their drones.
    - Mars Easy Start - become a colonist on a barren, inhospitable planet. Make sure you secure a source of water soon. Also beware of local pirates.
    - Alien Easy Start – the alien planet is a place with very sparse oxygen, not enough to breath freely. There is hostile fauna and pirates who want to claim the riches of this mysterious world and are not willing to share.
    - Moon Easy Start – You start on a moon orbiting a habitable planet. Your base is under attack by pirates.
    - Empty Star System - It is a star system with 3 distinctive planets and their 3 moons. Except for local fauna, planets are uninhabited.
    - Easy Start 1 – start on an asteroid platform with one large ship and two small ships
    - Easy Start 2 – start in a green asteroid station with several large and small ships (this is a large scene!)
    - Lone Survivor – start on an abandoned asteroid platform with no ships
    - Crashed Red Ship – your mother ship just crashed...
    - Two Platforms – competitive two-team multi-player world
    - Asteroids – start in a rescue ship with very limited resources
    - Empty World – no asteroids, no ships; suitable for creative mode
  • Enemy NPCs
    - sabiroids (spiders): can be found on alien planets and on Titan moons. They can destroy metal blocks and attack players. Their favorite hunting strategy is hiding in the ground and un-burrow to surprise their prey. When players kill a spider, new spiders won’t appear in the area for some time. They also store some components inside their bodies from objects and blocks that they consumed.
    - pirate bases: can be found either in space or occupying planetary surface. They have bounty hidden inside their containers that players can loot if they get over the drone attacks.
    - enemy drones: they spawn automatically from pirate bases and attack the players when they venture into pirate territory
  • Ships (small and large ships – build them, pilot them and crush them
  • Space stations
  • First-person & Third-person
  • Planetary bases, outposts, cities!
  • Dedicated servers - allow players to connect to a third party host, rather than using a player-host, in a peer-to-peer set-up. The result is a faster connection and a more fluent multiplayer performance with less lag
  • Super-large worlds – the size of the world to 1,000,000,000 km in diameter (almost infinite)
  • Procedural asteroids - adds an infinite number of asteroids to the game world
  • Exploration - adds an infinite number of ships and stations to the game world; discover, explore, acquire and conquer!
  • Drilling / harvesting
  • Manual building in survival mode – use welder to assemble blocks from components; use grinder to disassemble and reuse components
  • Deformable and destructible objects – real proportions, mass, storage capacity, integrity
  • Scenario editor - players can create missions and game modes which can be played by other players. Capture the flag, deathmatch, racing or campaign driven missions - all can be done by using the scenario editor, with your own rules and designs
  • Building blocks - light armor (cube, slope, corner), heavy armor, interior wall, interior light, small cockpit, large cockpit, cargo container(s), drill (character, large/small ship), ore detector, gravity generator, nuclear reactor, thruster, gyroscope, assembler, medical room, magnetic landing gears, spotlight, catwalk, cover wall, stairs, ramp, window(s), pillar, decoy, wheels, automated turrets, weapons, artificial mass, conveyor, collector, connector, merge block, camera, sensor, timer, text panel
  • Magnetic landing gears – attach your ship to a surface (another ship or asteroid)
  • Electricity - all blocks in a grid are wired in an electrical and computer network; electricity is generated by nuclear reactors
  • Gravity – produced by planets and gravity generators. Spherical gravity generator also available.
  • Rotors – create rotating objects
  • Advanced rotors – able to function as a conveyor system
  • Refinery - process harvested ore to ingots
  • Assembler - manufacture components from ingots
  • Oxygen - take off character's helmet, generate oxygen out of ice by using the oxygen generator
  • Symmetry/Mirroring Mode - useful in creative mode when building structures that require symmetry
  • Weapons - automatic rifle, small and large explosive warheads, small ship gatling gun, small ship missile launcher
  • Large weapons - missile launcher (for large ships)
  • Jump drive – a traveling mechanism that allows players to travel big distances in a short period of time
  • Solar panels - produce energy depending on the amount of light that they catch from the sun
  • World management – generate new worlds, “save as” to multiple copies, auto-save every 5 minutes (can be turned on/off), edit world settings
  • 32-bit & 64-bit - 64-bit version expands the amount of objects, ships and asteroids (almost unlimited)
  • Steam Workshop - Share your creations with the Community (upload and download worlds)
  • Modding - world files, shaders, textures, 3D models
  • Source code access – modders can get complete access to the game’s source code that can be found on Github (https://github.com/KeenSoftwareHouse/SpaceEngineers). This offers the opportunity for more and better modified content.
  • Localized interface (WIP) - Czech, Danish, Dutch, German, Icelandic, Polish, Spanish-Spain, Spanish-Latin America, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese-Brazil, Estonian, Norwegian, Swedish, Slovak, Ukrainian, Russian
  • Custom colors for blocks – Customize your creations by using any color you like
  • Cargo ships - auto-piloted vessels (miners, freighters and military) that carry ore, ingots, constructions components and other materials from sector to sector. They can be looted but beware, they often contain booby traps!
  • Environmental hazards – protect your character and your creations from meteor storms (Safe, Normal, Cataclysm, Armageddon)
  • Conveyor, Collector, Connector (IMPORTANT: this is a first work-in-progress version and a realistic version will be added later) - Conveyors move items from inventory to inventory. Collectors can collect small objects (ore, ingots, components, tools) into inventory. Connectors can throw items from inventory to space (in future update could be used to connect two ships/stations and transfer items)
  • Artificial mass – can be used to add gravity-affected mass to ships, useful in machine ships or cars
  • Wheels - use them with rotors and artificial mass to build vehicles
  • Automated turrets – gatling, missile and interior. Turrets are used mostly as defense mechanism rather than shooting other players. They aim on decoys (automatically by default), meteorites, missiles or all moving objects (eg. small/large ships) - targeting can be changed in the control panel
  • Large weapons - missile launcher (for large ships)
  • Large and small ship grinder and welder – assemble and disassemble blocks faster and in larger amount
  • Batteries - enables players to store the energy generated by solar panels or reactors at an efficiency rate of 80%
  • Pistons - offers the option to build more advanced machinery
  • Ion thrusters – suitable for environments without atmosphere (space or moons) / not recommended to be used on planets with atmosphere
  • Hydrogen - hydrogen thrusters, hydrogen tanks and hydrogen bottles
  • Atmospheric thrusters - powered by electricity, working only on planets with atmosphere
  • Factions - create and join factions, determine ownership of blocks and manage the relations between them (hostile/ally). NOTE: Factions are currently Work-in-Progress. There are still many things to be added (eg. chat and communication) and some bugs/issues are yet to be fixed.
  • Remote ship control – control ships without being inside the ship’s cockpit (drones)
  • Remote turret control - control turrets directly
  • 3D printing - export (CTRL+ALT+E) and 3D print the creations that you design in the game (http://www.SpaceEngineersGame.com/3d-printing.html)
  • Modding API - brings a lot of new possibilities to modders and allows them to alter the game by writing C# scripts which have access to in-game objects (WIP - more features will be added in the future)
  • Blueprints - save your ship or station on a blueprint and paste it into your game
  • Projector block – project blueprints and weld the projection
  • Sensor – detects ships, palyers, asteroids, stations, floating objects and their state (friendly, neutral or enemy) and ownership
  • Sound block - reproduce predefined sounds such as alarm or siren for announcements
  • Programmable block – players can write small programs executed by the block
  • Communication – chat between players and factions
  • GPS - create, send, receive and manage GPS coordinates in the game
  • Voxel hands - shape and form the asteroids and change their material (creative mode only)
  • Xbox controller support

The performance depends on the complexity of your world and the configuration of your computer. Simple worlds run smoothly even on low-end computers, but a more complex world with rich object interactions could overload even high-end computers.

Симулятор: "Что это, б**дь, было!?" и "какого **я!?"

Начнем сразу с минуcов:
1) почти 3 года ранний доступ (но раз в неделю что-то там шевелют разрабы, вроде не забросили)
2) оптимизация OVER 0%, в рот шатал твое железо!
3) к управлению нужно привыкнуть

А в остальном, отличная песочница где сам себя развлекаешь.

Wow this game started so good, but NOW it has become broken, crashing, glitchy piece of S***! HOW?! How can you f**k it up this badly in early access??? Even after 270 hours into this game I can't recommend this game anymore, you did the same mistake over and over and over, LACK OF UPDATES THAT WOULD FIX THE MAIN ISSUES such as before mentioned CRASHING, GLITCHING, FREEZING... So instead of adding new content, FIX THE ISSUES WITH CRASHING AND PERFORMANCE. No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wonder this game lost it's interest. Sorry KSH but seems like not even SPACE ENGINEER would be able to fix this broken piece of alien turd. Simply put: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY TO THIS BROKEN GAME, NOT UNTIL ITS PERFORMANCE ISSUES AND CRASHING HAS BEEN FIXED.

This game makes me cry sometimes cuz of the music. The whole game is good. You do need a beefy af computer to run it though. Other than that, buy the game.

Space Engineers is currently in bata mode, and the team at KSH are working hard, providing weekly updates. I highly recommend this game for players who enjoy building virtual worlds. Since there are so many little peices, an upper end computer is required (X64).

The physics engine that drives this game is amazing, and the developers are smart about encouraging community development, including a strong Steam workshop MOD system. I've yet to play multiplayer, currently content with working im my evil scientist lab.

Issues: They promised better netcode ages ago, and because they've failed to live up to it, their once THRIVING online multiplayer servers are turning into ghost towns. Rubber banding, server desync, and a very unfriendly chat interface (Seriously, no Chat logs or ability to scroll up).

When these issues are resolved, I will change my score. But as of currently, I cannot play the game as I once was able to and it has negatively affected my user experience.

The game is very good but there´s a lot to fix for the developers and even more to do.I´ve got this game for one month now and it´s almost being updatet daily which shows that the developers are still working on this game.

Was in a vicious circle of spawning and being killed by what i can only describe as wolves for 15 minutes.
Once out of the circle i was then stuck inside the wall of my ship whilst it took off, i then died again.
10/10 for realism

The game is amazing! Beautiful graphics, amazing depth and endless possibilitys. There are some bugs still, especially in the dedicated server mode, but the weekly patches make the game better everytime.

I played this game a long time ago when it was in earlier access, it was pretty damn cool! Mining asteroids, attempting to build ships (but failing dramatically) and fly around with a little jetpack. Now I can't even WALK on the game anymore, at least on the preset built areas, also the multiplayer is strange for throwing someone who just joined halfway across the world, me and my friend played for about half an hour before giving up even attempting to play, too many bugs.

For the real review i love this game, i love playing it and it has so many posibilities that theres an endless amount of fun youll have playing this game,now time for a funny review, step 1 of having a great time, crash landing my landing pod on my first world result is a facepalm,step 2 build your first ship and brag about it,step 3 cri after seeing your ship is terrible,step 4 spend 8 hours building a new one,step 5 be happy that you are good now,step 6 want to go to space,step 7 fail at your first attemt and have your ship crash into your house,step 8 cri,step 9 watch 9,000 youtube vidios to help you,step 10 sucseed,step 11 realize you caint get back down,step 12 forever alone in space,step 879 make a star wars pun,step 9975 finish the death star,step 78352 think you defeated the jedeye,step 925426846583.......

Захватывающая и требующая точности игра.
+ Ошибся на несколько кП? - Потерял корабль! Ошибся на пару метров? - Потерял корабль! Выкинул кобальт, думая, что он бесполезен? - Потерял корабль! Забыл добыть немного льда?- Смерть! Не поставил гироскопы? - Потерял корабль!
+ Игра требует высокой точности, внимательности, ну и хотя бы базовых знаний физики.
+ Мастерская - качественные моды.
+ Огромные планеты и звёзды!
+ Мультиплеер!
+ Продвинутый геймплей!
- Нужны мощные процессоры и графические карты (Но игра в стадии разработки - надеюсь это исправят).

Ну что сказать.... В этой игре есть полная свобода творчества.
Можно строить всё! От маленьких истребителей и машин до гигантских линкоров и т.д., а steam workshop пополнит ваш набор деталей и инструментов. Ещё можно просто взять и разрушать всё (великолепная разрушаемость).
Правда оптимизация не очень (хотя у меня обычно лагает некоторое время и проходит всё).

Игру не разрабатывают, а ломают.
Решил поиграть спустя год или уже даже больше и что я вижу. На планетах фпс в 10-13 раз меньше чем в космосе, если в режиме астероидов поставить огранчение карты для удаления всякого шлака - будете умирать при респавне, после того как я наконец создал мир в котором можно прожить больше милисекунды - нельзя заспавнится с кораблем, например, начальным, спавнит в скафандре и не дает лететь куда либо, просто нет скорости.

День второй
Решил дать этой игре еще один шанс.. Зашел на паблик, полетел на планету, каким-то чудом посадил корабль который для этого не задуман.. Через 10 секунд налетело 7 собак и начали разбирать корабль, в панике я нашел 1200 патрон на автомат и начал отбиваться.
Представьте как я не был удивлен когда собака впитала все 1200 патрон и ей было вообще похрену. Пораскинув мозгами, я решил бороться с ними не логичными методами, ибо логичные не работают. Сев в корабль и станцевав при помощи него брейкданс я убил всех собак.
Следующим шагом была постройка базы, начав разбирать корабль (то что осталось после "сражения" с собаками) я приступил к постройке. Когда переместил реактор, хранилище и кабину (для энергии в скафандре) - меня ждало очевидное, прибежали еще 7 неубиваемых собак, которым по каким-то причинам вкуснее мой реактор чем я сам.

Никакой оптимизации, летающие деревья на планетах, баги баги баги....
Если у вас видеокарта слабее GTX 980 -можете не брать, в 60 фпс не поиграете.

Дорогие друзья, данная игра очень увлекательна чем то похожа на майнкрафт, НО отличная проработка физики объектов, неограниченные возможности по постройке любой техники, а так же космических станций, особенно играть в мультиплеере, единственное жаль что не смог пока что найти сервера с постоянным онлайн и большим количеством игроков, поэтому пока что играем с другом вдвоем и с ботами...

Поиграв в игру всего 2 часа она мне дико понравилась. Это же симулятор космонавта!

- строй космические корабли на свой вкус (от маленьких до больших, от больших до огромных)
- построй свою собственную базу на астероиде или целой планете!
- тут есть джетпак :D

Одно примечание - игра очень требовательна к ресурсам вашего ПК (хотя на моем, слабом для последних релизов железе, игра выдает 40-60 FPS стабильно, при системках в 2 раза ниже требований самой игры)

Если Вам интересна тема космоса и Вы любитель поковыряться в незамысловатых инструментах и создать что-то, что существует лишь в Вашем воображении- эта игра для Вас!
Отличная графика, потрясающий мир, который может затянуть не на один час. Вполне играбельная версия игры в раннем доступе, с мультиплеером и с постоянными обновлениями, которые безусловно делают игру более стабильной.

Ребята. Эта игра имеет ОГРОМНЫЙ потенциал. Причём можно не только играть в выживание, как многие, но и выкладывать корабли в стим. Это очень интересно.

Я наиграл более 1000 часов и НИ РАЗУ не играл в выживание. Однако и в творческом я играл не как все. Эта игра(при должном уровне мастерства) поможет вам создавать целые истории в сценариях. Это действительно можно делать. Я смог.

Однако всё может убить оптимизация. Помимо лагов, которые почти не ощущаются на мощных компах, есть ещё следующая проблема - обновы!

Да, разработчики вносят периодически стоящие вещи, однако их работа может погубить вашу...

Мы с товарищем хотели сделать карту для ПВЕ сервера. Работа была уже закончена, оставалась проверка. И тут обнова. Я захожу в мир, а там ни одной постройки. Всё, что показано в видео пропало(а это, поверьте лишь часть всего, что там было).

Отсюда следует мой совет: НЕ ПЛАНИРУЙТЕ ДОЛГОСРОЧНЫХ ПОСТРОЕК В ЭТОЙ ИГРЕ.
и ещё: СЦЕНРИИ В ЭТОЙ ИГРЕ - ВЕЩЬ НЕБЛАГОДАРНАЯ.

I never write reviews but I feel like KSH has lost their way again and are gonna drive this almost perfect game concept into the ground like they did to Miner Wars. It's a shame that after over 1500 hours in game, I have to shelf my favorite game due to bugs. The devs seem totally clueless as to how to fix the game too as every patch makes it worse and less playable. I've built bases, ships of all sizes, mechs, wheeled vehicles, satellite arrays etc, etc but none of it ever gets used cuz there is nothing to really do in the game. The "pirates" are a joke and the cyber hounds was Keen's way of trolling us for all the harsh criticism, I guess. I really miss the days when I could actually do things with my creations. Now mp is broken af and sp is a glitchy mess. Some optimization is noticeable but after almost three years of development the game looks further from completion than ever. Kudos to the dude that made the Trump ship with the caption "make space engineers great again" lmao...

I realized my comment above is not a review and more of a rant so here's a review from a veteran space engineer. Warning: I could write a book about this game lol.

Alone on a desolate planet or out in space, the player assumes the role of some kind of demi God or android able to mine and refine raw materials to use in the building of evermore elaborate machines for the purpose of exploring the cosmos and surviving it's dangers.
Features like terrain deformation, a robust building mechanic and a fun physics engine are the highlights of this gem. However, if you're hoping to get out there as a novice and conquer the universe, I'd better warn you: IT'S NOT EASY MAN. The learning curve is steep as can be since the tutorials are garbage and the UI is a nightmare. But after graduating from the school of hardknocks, a masters from YouTube university and some trial and error, things can be built.
Time to get creative because it's up to you to figure out from where or how the fun is extracted from this title. It MUST be mentioned that the awesome player community by itself almost makes the game worth buying and is a huge source of fun. With that said, the workshop is your friend, just stay away from mp for now. Trust me.
Build a miner ship to dig up ore but it's more trouble than its worth since you can just spawn everything you need for free and there is no persistent story world to make you care about it so unless you're really into drilling for the fun of it... Build a fleet but you're the only one around so...
Build a base but you're the only one around so...
Build a massive interplanetary communication satellite array to talk to yourself... (although cameras on satellites is a joy like no other)
Build wheeled vehicles that would never pass a road test on earth much less on rough alien terrain. To be fair though, I do have some wheeled vehicles that are quite usable and I even tow trailers loaded with stuff with very mixed results. But you're the only one around so...
Spend hours building a murder ship only to get murdered by your own base defences during its first test flight.
Build a mech that really works till the next update wrecks everything you thought you knew about gravity and turns your mech into another check in the fail column.
The most actual fun I've had here is being a pirate. I raid any bases or ships passing by in space and the in game pirate drones act like the police in my case and try to stop me. They in turn get rekt and looted (a gatling gun, a camera, some skill and you're a killing machine). I usually make it home in one piece but since survival mode isn't very good atm, looting is just for fun.
The universe is procedurally generated and rendered beautifully but the game is clearly geared toward building since there is no map, radar, story, npcs or end goals although there is stuff to find out there like ships, bases and hostile drones but they are far and few in between. Also, there is a very crude fps element to the game that is better left unspoken. It's an early access title after all.
My advice is wait til this game gains some weight and focuses on what's important or play it in creative mode, learn the ropes, build your heart out and blueprint everything. Some must have mods make the game a lot more enjoyable but any update can break their functionality so keep that in mind.
Get familiar with some of the dev tools provided like space master, voxel hands and spectator mode and the game will open up to you. Otherwise, save up for some of the more approachable space sim/ builder games out there.
If this review seemed too long or complicated then this game is definitely not for you.
It's heart breaking to see that the super complex options and block functions get blamed for the poor performance and dev difficulty but this is why Space Engineers is so great. I fear that future devs will seek to "improve" this concept by simplifying and that's sad indeed. In a perfect world, a full space sim would be a blend of SE and other, more story rich titles like Star Citizen. You gotta at least give Keen credit for trying to tackle this giant by developing a whole engine for it. But that's just my opinion. I state it to point out that the lack of "meat and potatoes" could be this title's undoing, not complexity. I can't imagine any casual gamer bearing through the grind for so little reward though.
I usually play in survival with very few mods, cyber mutts off and space master on for fun and sometimes play creative mode to build freely. The possibilities are endless but the twisted, explosive will of clang always looms just a connector coupling away...

7/10 Although I wouldn't recommend, I would be disappointed by dizzy devs again and again and again

Been putting this off for a while now, but due to recent spates of negative reviews i think it would be a good idea to make one, if only to make people more aware.

First off before the actual review i will write a warning to newer players.

This game is unfinished, do not judge it based on its current bugs as they are being fixed.

People who claim that development is taking too long need to realize that this was being developed by a very small dev team for quite some time until relatively recently (and a good portion of the current dev team is fairly new to game development), that they are working on two games at once (medieval engineers), and that they used better part of a year developing planets at the demands of the community (which a few members of the long term community think was a mistake. That is open to speculation). In other words, cut them some slack.

This game is EXTREMELY GPU and RAM intensive, i do not suggest running it with less than 8gbs, (16 recommended). Also bear in mind that some planets will refuse to load on low end GPUs and that others will run badly. For example you will run Mars at 30 odd fps on a GTX 750ti, 50-60 on a 980. Earth and the alien planet will run at 50-60 fps on a GTX 980ti (basically a titan x with less vram). I also hear that AMD cards and CPUs run worse than their Intel and Nvidia counterparts, though this is inconsitant.

As such i STRONGLY suggest you stay away from planets if you have a weaker GPU, i can manage 40fps on intel integrated graphics in space.

Multiplayer is currently broken, though new netcode is on the way and indications are that it is nearly complete. Stay away from dedicated servers until it drops, private games with 2-6 people run perfectly fine for the most part, though i do not recommend using pistons and rotors, they will invoke to wrath of Clang (the patron god of Space engineers and utter ruin).

That just about covers it for the warning, i will add more as i either remember things or otherwise find out more.

Now, for the actual review.

Space engineers is a semi realistic sci-fact voxel based building and exploration game (emphasis on the building part).
In this game you will build, mine and fight pirates (single player) and other players (multiplayer) in the hope of creating massive battleships to oppress the peasants, and defend what you own.

You can build basically any ship from movies, other games and TV series, or something original (but mostly you will end up building flying bricks due to your lack of aesthetic skill), the only limits are your imagination, and your computer.

Mining for resources is actually very fun in this game due to deformable terrain.

The fighting part could use a little work, but it does the job fine for the moment.

The exploration element is similar (if not somewhat superior) to that found in Elite: Dangerous, difference being the main reasons are to find a nice looking place for a base, look for resources, or if you have both, look for the community made ships that are placed extremely infrequently across the galaxy. Rather than just to have your name on a planet, though you can do that too if you really want.

The UI is, to be honest a little daunting at first, but it does the job.

The graphics are some of the best in the genre, and the models and effects are currantly being improved.

The music is decent (love the title screen song), but after a while you get a little tired of it.

The modding community is absolutely fantastic, on par if not better than the Skyrim one.

Infact the community in general is superb for the most part. Probably the best i have found yet.

The game is updated every week on thursday, and hotfixes released as soon as they are finished.

Youtubers for this game in general are great, i suggest VideoSage, XP gamers and W4stedspace.

That about covers it for the review.

TL;DR To me this game is fantastic and has the potential to be even better, and it looks like the devs are going to deliver.

I miss the times where servers weren't speed capped at 50 m/s.

The times where you could actually move around normally without your character taking off into the sky when you move your mouse around with high sensitivity..

Something went wrong, really, really wrong. I don't know how or what it has been caused by but damn, do I miss the old game.. It makes me cry deep inside of me whenever I try to play on a server, it's like trying to get into something again but then it just scrubs you in the face with a metal brush.

And the times where multiplayer.. ughh nevermind, I bet most of you guys weren't playing the game from the start, so you don't know how I feel like about Space Engineers right now, the optimizations destroy the game rather than make it better, I remember a few patches back multiplayer was actually stable, but now it's A LOT worse.

New ships sounds don't really fit in, and they're skimmed off Elite: Dangerous, doesn't really feel as fast as it sounds like with only 50 m/s speed caps on the servers..

Only get this game if it's on ULTRA discount, unless you don't care about multiplayer.

Singleplayer runs pretty well, multiplayer is hell and WILL make you MAD many, many times.

Graphics are very nice, it's just the optimization part, playing on dedicated servers makes you rather want to walk on a contraband in real life than watch it happen in-game.

Space Engineers is a very promising, inspiring and creative game. If you like playing alone in an empty universe, then you must definitely try this game. You won't regret it. It is one of the best single-player sandbox games I have ever played.

Everything is great until you try the multiplayer.
Extremely unstable, insanely laggy, frustratingly buggy.

No, it's not my internet connection (I have a very fast connection) and no, it's not my pc (I have a very high end pc).
It's just that the game is severely unoptimized. Whenever I join an online server, the game switches to s**t mode.

There are so many things not working in multiplayer that I can't possibly list them here, some of which are:

- Lag gets so extreme that you must wait for 30 seconds for even the most simple action
- Game freezes for 10 - 20 seconds for no apparent reason
- Player jumping all over the place, without any chance of controlling it
- Lag stuttering gets so intense that can give you a seizure
- On planets, player suddenly starts sinking into the ground, free falling to the center of the planet and ultimately dying
- Sudden death for completely inexplicable reasons
- Parked vehicles explode for no reason
- Stationed ships explode for no reason
- Drills and rotors explode for no reason
- Merge blocks explode for no reason
- Parked vehicles jumping all over the place for no reason
- Stationed ships jumping all over the place for no reason

You get the idea.

Overall, great for single-player, unplayable in multiplayer.
Yes, it is in early access but there are serious bugs that remain unsolved for 2 years and I don't think they will be ever solved.

Looks like this game suffers from the eternal-early-access syndrome, which is very common these days.
