Varför Early Access?

“Early Access allows us to involve the community during development and try out completely new things with a large community of players”

How long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until Q4 2014”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more content, less bugs, and will be free to play locally. Everyone who buys the game during Early Access will keep all functionality they have in the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We are currently experimenting with user created levels, improving network code, working on redesigning the UI, and more. There is a lot of work being done.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes and no. The local version of the game will be free, while online functionality will cost more or less similar. We intend to sell character skin packs which enable you to play online.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are losing sleep over every comment posted on the forum. Shall we make boxes lethal?”

r31 now in beta branch, help us test

Hey everyone

We just set the rolled-back r31 update live on the beta branch of SpeedRunners

You can help us test it by enabling the beta branch, like this:



Right click on SpeedRunners
Select "Properties"
Go to "Betas" tab
Out of the dropdown, select the r31 beta

For everyone wondering what happened - we had to rollback r31 due to some unexpected gameplay breaking bugs introduced with fixing lots of back-end stuff. And now that there is the Gfinity tournament going on (see PewDiePie's video), it's important that updates don't introduce game breaking bugs. Especially when it's the first SpeedRunners tournament with prizes.

We did our best to test internally, and now need your help!

Update r31! [rolled back]

We're all going to go to PAX PRIME in Seattle this weekend, where we'll have a HUGE booth where people can play SpeedRunners and where a very special and awesome thing is going to take place that we can't talk about yet, but definitely is going to be AWESOME!

Anyway, it's been a while since we did our last major update. Since then, we've released a lot of small updates, that we didn't feel were enough by themselves to mark it as a "new" update. For instance, we've changed the behaviour when landing on slopes a little bit. You now keep your momentum, resulting in high velocities if you do it right. Even though that's quite a game-changer, it was so small of a change that it was still considered as part of r30.

Seeing as we're leaving now for a week though, we thought it would be a good idea to try to make sure we did push an update for you all before we left. So, without further ado, here's UPDATE R31!

This update adds the first iteration of artwork for the ZOO level (formerly Prototype). We're going to animate some stuff later on, but this should already give you a good idea of what we're aiming for with this level. We've also updated some animations on Buckshot, Gil and 招き猫, most notably the latter's jump animation. We've also updated the Level Editor to be a bit more user-friendly and by popular request we've added a 'no items' option in custom games, amonst many other small things.

We had to rollback this update due to some unexpected issues, currently r31 is in the beta branch of SpeedRunners which can be activated here:

In a city filled with superheroes, getting to crimes becomes a competition on its own. Fortunately there are enough rockets, bombs, grappling hooks, spikes, and other goodies lying around -- to make the competition fun and fast. Welcome to SpeedRunners.

SpeedRunners is a 4 player competitive platformer with grappling hooks, power-ups, and interactive environments. Run, jump, swing around, fire rockets, grapple onto people to knock them off screen.

Early Access-recension
A very fun and addictive game that can lead to some really intense moments. If you've ever been a fan of games like Mario Kart then this is a worth try. My only problem with the game is that it can problems when playing online leading to you losing before you even started playing or bugs that affect the gameplay however this is too be expected since it's an early access game. Still for the most part it plays alright.

So i'd say if it sounds interesting definietly pick it up :D
