"Oozing style, with some lovely Twin Peaks inspiration and a smart story that doesn't take itself too seriously. Some really awesome setpieces, too."

Análises

“Remedy's done a great job of mixing elements of written work, television, and video games to create an experience full of scares, laughs, and thrills that's just as fun to play as it is to watch.”

Acerca deste jogo

Another good Remedy game, fits along side their previous good games of Death Rally - Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.

Not only was the game play fun with quite interesting mechanics of Light VS. Dark, the story line got me interested to the very end.

And the end of the story is where the entire presentation falters.
Slight cliffhanger, no solid end.
According to numerous websites, there were plans on an Alan Wake sequel, but that didn't due to 'not enough sales' says Mr. Microsoft Games. Which is a pity.

Otherwise, a good ride till the sudden stop.
A good buy indeed.

In Alan Wake you take up the role as a writer named...Alan Wake. After his wife goes missing you set out to find her while a Dark Presence haunts the town of Bright Falls.

In Alan Wake you fight against darkness, and I really love that. Armed with a flashlight and a revolver you make your way through Bright Falls and it's surrounding mountains and forests.

The eviroments and the scenery is outstanding and it really improves the light vs darkness theme the game has. The story is fantastic. Really now, it's really good and doesn't give everything away directly, so you might have to reflect on what happened. It will still leave you very satisfied.

The combat is pretty cool but it can become very tedious after a while as it can feel like you're doing the same thing over and over again. But the supplies are limited so it really gives it this somewhat survival feeling.

Alan Wake is not a perfect game, It's close but not perfect.

Pros
- Fantastic story and theme
- Great enviroments and scenery

Cons
- The combat, it can become repetitious but I wouldn't abastain from playing the game because of this.

A fantastic (but short) atmospheric game relying on its strongpoints of storytelling to make up for what can be seen as shortcomings in the action sequences. A great deal of effort is put into engrossing the player in its world, setting up th e game as an episodic miniseries, complete with intros, recaps, and outros, as well as plenty of collectibles and side tihngs to find that expand on what's happening. The game plays well, but unfortunately combat can fall short and become repetitive, since the tools at your disposal are few and mostly upgrade in pure numbers. It's tense enough to keep you on your toes, but playing on normal/hard, i never felt truly stretched for resources except once during the game. There are only a few enemy types so combat becomes fairly formulaic after a time.

That said, the presentation of the game, and the story it tells make up for the difference in spades, and it's a shame the game only got two small DLC episodes instead of the true "second season" it deserved.

Would definitely recommend to fans of the thriller/mystery genre, as long as you're OK with never really finding out what happens after the end.

Alan Wake shows off some nice dark grizzly graphics and a new gameplay feature where your flashlight is your best friend to ward off monsters. While Alan Wake is an action horror game, I found the action to not be the most fluid action in these types of 3rd person games. The storyline was good, though not fantastic by any means. While I'd recommend playing this game, I wouldn't place it in my top list of games you should play. Play this if you enjoy the horror/action genre, or else move on.

I've beaten this game and the DLC multiple times before despite my hours as of (Nov 18th, 2014) saying otherwise. This game has one of the best storylines I've ever played in a game. It is a true "Mind ♥♥♥♥" to say the least and will keep you entertained from start to finish. The games graphics are still good when compared to next gen graphics and the game itself can be quite challenging at times. The gameplay is a bit clunky at times but is good enough.

Graphics: At the time of release: 10/10, Currently: 8.5/10
Story line: 9.5/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Game length: 11-15 hours
Overall: 9/10

This game is wonderful. It plays like a Stephen King or Lovecraft story, and feels like an episode of The Twilight Zone. Combat mechanis are solid and varried enough that they never get boring. Enemies are interesting and the difficulty deffinitely ramps up as you progress through the game and get better at it. If you take the time to get invested in the story it is well worth it. My only qualm is that the facial motion capture is jaring and lackluster in cutscenes. Other than that, the voice acting is top-notch and the music selection is fantastic. Over all a very enjoyable experience.

Flashlight. Blam. Repeat.

Gets old, but it's decent fun in suspense and gameplay. 6.8/10. That's above average for me. It's usually REALLY cheap, so pick it up, and if you really like it, the sequel.

What can I say about Alan Wake? Its an interesting game by the guys who did Max Payne, and it shows; Alan Wake is a story focused action thriller, much like Max Payne, but instead of being a neo-noir crime thriller set in New York City, Alan Wake is a supernatural thriller (though some people might call it horror, i'm a little hesitant to call it such, since it's not really scary) set in the fictional town of Bright Falls, Washington. Though it does have some shortcomings, ultimately, Alan Wake is a engrossing piece of fiction which does it's best to recapture the cinematic storytelling of Max Payne, and for the most part, it delivers.

The game is visually impressive, with lighting being both stunning and a key part of the gameplay, and models being fairly well detailed. The shadowy particle effects when the enemies show up is neat, and overall the game exudes atmostphere. The musical score is decent, though utimately forgettable.

Gameplay is probably the weakest aspect of Alan Wake, but it's still suprisingly solid. It has your standard set of third person controls, but what it adds is it's light mechanic. Enemies in the game cannot be killed unless they are weakened by light first. This can be from your torch (flashlight), a flare gun, or really any light source lying around. Enemies won't attack you under street lamps for instance, though often, to continue, you have to go out into the darkness and fight the enemies. there are some puzzley section in the game, but they aren't too difficult to figure out, but it's worth mentioning.

Where Alan Wake really shines is in it's narrative, but moreso how it tells this narrative. While at first narrration by a Stephen King-esque character seems like it wouldn't be quite so interesting, the delivery is great. When things start to go wrong in Bright Falls, the atmosphere compliments the narratation. It works quite well, and in additon, splitting up the game into segmented chapters also adds to the Twin Peaks feel to the game. The story has plenty of twists and turns, and the dialogue is written well enough to keep you engaged. While the ending is somewhat dissapointing, Alan Wake's story (moreso it's storytelling) is excellent and will keep you engrossed until the end.

If you like narrative driven games, or you like supernatural thrillers reminiscent of Stephen King or Twin Peaks, Alan Wake is definitely a recommendation.

Alan Wake is the personification of the B horror game. Awful acting? Check. Laughable plot? Check. Low production values? At times (though the final quarter of the game is pretty impressive.) If you can look past it's low points it's a very solid, entertaining action-suspense game with a sprinkling of survival-horror on top.

My only complaint with the game is how the designers chose to constantly revoke your stockpile of weapons at every turn, instead of taking the time to balance progression properly. At each act, and sometimes more often that that, you're stripped of all the weapons, ammo, and upgrades you've acquired and have to start fresh. Not a deal breaker, but lazy from a design standpoint, and annoying after 6 episodes. All in all though this isn't a big deal, and doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the game.

I enjoyed this game and it's story a lot, gameplay was a tad bit clunky at first but once you get the hang of it, its a great game. It's challenging too, pretty original story. I think I purchased this on a whim but was definitely glad I did.

I really enjoyed this game, the action is balanced with the atmosphere. I like titles with horror elements in it and this hit the spot. I wasn't sure if I was going to dig the 3rd person perspective or not but it fits extremely well with the dynamics of the game. I enjoyed how the story unfolds, I like the episodic feel of the narrative. I would recommend this to anyone.

Laying it out there; the game has many frustrating moments. The story is great, the scenery and map layouts are good, and I like the sound. The gameplay is good too, but has some really frustrating times. When you need relaxation, play something else.... but if you want a game that will both annoy and awe you, then give it a try.

Good game that holds itself high enough through polished visual style and an interesting, albeit straightforward gameplay mechanic.

Story is an OK script that baits you on.

I would remove the horror tag though, and replace it with 'mildly startling'.

Alan Wake is a survival horror game. In it you play as Alan Wake, who has just arvived in the town of Bright Falls. After a while strange things start to happen and Alan's wife is kidnapped and Alan has to fight people that have been taken over by darkness called Taken with a flashlight and a gun to save his love. as the story progresses poeple will tell you things (not saying what due to spoliers) that will make you wonder whats true and whats not. Anyway Alan Wake is a great game with a great story and I highly recommend it.

An unforgettable adventure with great characters, scares, story, and combat. Never did I think a flashlight could be so deadly. Buy it when it goes on sale, definitely worth it. The only bad thing is that once you beat the game, you'll be sad because the sequel hasn't come out yet. Seriously, I still have so many questions that need to be answered.
