User Generated Content Sales Update

Greetings Noble Lords and Ladies!

The Polycount Arms & Armor contest may be over, but fear not! We are preparing our anvils to start equipping our warriors with an entirely new arsenal of weapons and helmets!.

In the spirit of openness, we are trying to provide content creators with as much information as we can about the sales of items in the UGC store, so that you can make data-driven decisions based on what our players are interested in.

As you can see, there is a large disparity between the highest and lowest selling items, and you can see from the graph that stylistic differences had an influence on this.

We’ve settled on the next group of items to be incorporated, and will be looking to the workshop in the coming weeks to choose items beyond that. This will be an ongoing process. Stay tuned for updates coming very soon on the next round. While there is definitely a backlog of quality items that didn’t quite make the cut for the contest, there are still plenty of opportunities to get new items into the game.

Lastly, we would like to know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the whole process of content creation through implementation in game. This is a new process for us, and will be evolving as we continue to learn more.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Patch #35 (Mac and Linux Integration)

Brand New Features!


Chivalry is now Available on Linux and OS X!

You've all been asking for it for quite some time, and Torn Banner is happy now deliver! Chivalry can now be played on Mac and Linux machines!


Improving your head-chopping experience is important to us. While we are constantly improving the game, we rely heavily on our players to help us with bug reports. If you notice any issues or have suggestions on how to improve the game, please post on the steam forums or join in on the discussions on the official Torn Banner Forums.




Big list of Fixes!


  • Attempt at mitigating Stoneshill second objective crash
  • invite-accept crash fix; not sure whether reproducible on PC
  • don't do anything with HUD markers etc. until level has finished loading. Fix for issue where icons may not appear on some levels when loading slowly (particularly, Stoneshill)
  • don't let King try to Forward Spawn or switch to Observer (may unintentionally end objective early)
  • when a client loses connection to the host without warning (e.g., because the client's LAN cable was pulled), could call DisableSprint() every frame until it crashed
  • fix issues with throwing fire pots into lava
  • Fix non-alt direction combo feint to parry to riposte to combo issue, wherein that last combo would play Release in non-combo direction despite the riposte coming from non-combo direction as well.
  • Fix flag not being put down correctly when it was just picked up and the previous weapon is still being put down
  • kill the pot if the FX is done. The FX is pooled and if we shutdown _after_ this, we might shut down when someone else has taken that pooled object. The shutdown turns the FX off -> we might turn someone else's FX off
  • stop client pawns from spawning weather emitters on listen server host
  • stop people from using items (E) if they're throwing a throwable
  • If someone joins while a server is paused, unpause for 1 tick (unpause is necessary as part of the player joining process), immediately repause.
  • AdminTournamentMode fixed
  • Fix for server browser "Server Details" query crash
  • Fix buckler phys asset, added a sphere body to cover the boss (the player's hand was slightly sticking through the existing collision body)
  • Slightly realigned shortbow and crossbow skins due to valid complaints lodged here: http://forums.tornbanner.com/showthread.php/22911-New-crossbow-skin-annoying-problem
  • Also temujin and hound swords were slightly misaligned
  • Corrected vertex paint on some spartan foliages (used in various UGC maps)
  • Fix buckler phys asset, added a sphere body to cover the boss (the player's hand was slightly sticking through the existing collision body)
  • Stop player names getting set to "Player123" or such

Other changes

  • Loadout change volume now has a 15 second cooldown
  • Admin login events are now light red (#FF5555 ) in chat. The system PM color is now pale blue (#B2C4E1) instead of cyan (#33FFFF)
  • Added phys asset for workhammer mesh
  • Removed several instances of log spam
  • Reduced amount of data replicated or considered for replication, reducing CPU and bandwidth use for servers
  • Script optimization, reducing (game thread) CPU use for servers and clients
  • Skeletal mesh / animation rendering optimizations
  • DetailMode affects more Pawn effects. Decap distance repurposed as "high detail distance"; this distance is further on High Detail than Medium Detail, etc.
    • don't do blood masks at all in Low detail, or beyond high detail distance - 1 step
    • don't do blood splatter effect unless on High or within high detail distance + 1 step
    • don't do blood decal if MaxActiveDecals setting is 0, or DetailMode is DM_Low, or DetailMode is DM_Medium and we're beyond high detail distance + 1 step
  • modified dummies (console command adddummies / admin adddummies) to constantly attack but not move. Good for parry/riposte testing.
  • Pass over all levels' sound sublevels to move as much into Client-side Kismet as possible. A few were playing ambient sounds continuously off the server, which is kind of expensive. Fixed now with no actual effect on the audible sounds.
  • Animation framerate LODding added. New video config setting to modify this. Server always plays anims at 1/5 rate unless they include root motion

跟疯狗一样的冲进人群,大喊吾去脱他衣,使劲的挥刀不管看到什么都不要放过。事后你发现满地的关节和尸体,才发现,咦,这不是我的队友吗?
*对的,这破游戏居然有队友伤害这设定,就不能像cs一样射了自己人跟没事一样吗!!好吧,我只能说这是作者检测玩家实力的一种方法,但是谁管这么多啊!不是你屎就是我汪!
*其实我打到后面才发现,没有菜虐了,只有在新手保护服务器才能给你杀人的机会,去到那种普通玩家的服务器,算了吧,你就当陀肉吧,没有娴熟的技巧是不可能赢那些老玩家的。所以在有限的虐菜时间里要多享受虐菜的滋味。(我有点怀疑里面掺有机器人)
*我也不知道怎么说这游戏的远程单位,拉弓,放箭,和其他游戏的远程没什么不一样。但是就是好难射中啊!!还要担心射到自己队友菊花的危险!(你要知道这游戏的打斗基本都是一群人厮杀,一不小心干掉了自己人,人家就立马问你wtf you doing!)
懒得写这么多了,这游戏经常减价的顺带一提,按原价入手的家伙绝对是机智的,我也推荐小伙伴去这么做(求不打脸)。要是能玩到这游戏的话,就去大干一场吧。

完了这么久太好玩了!尤其是喜欢那些类似骑马与砍杀的朋友!虽然不能骑马但是砍杀绝对到位!!!!游戏有2个阵营PK的!4个职业,弓箭手难上手其他都很好啊!如果想体验杀人的快感推荐你来这里,不过这里的游戏打法没有魔法只有冷兵器,太刺激了!不过韩国服务器不太友好- -今天去玩的时候第一局我都不知道怎么回事就T我= =也是醉,有国内的服务器,感兴趣的朋友在这次降价的时候一定要速度入啊!!!!
就像是最原始的冲动,杀戮的快感混合着战场里的嘶吼声刺激着大脑,这就是中世纪所给人的感觉,血腥却又让玩家知道了什么是战争。(死亡后复活看见自己上次死亡的尸体做的很棒!)
然后Duang的一下我不小心打死了友军
好吧- -这个有友军伤害的设定,贴切实际。

骑士中世纪战争.steam上我喜欢的为数不多的游戏之一。没有花哨的招式,没有绚丽的场景。游戏带领你领略真实而又残酷的中世纪,刀光剑影,血肉横飞。劈,砍,刺,聊聊几招,更能体现出技巧。推荐各位汽油试试这游戏,其中有一张地图是烧村,杀农民的,烧村狂魔们千万不要错过。

The Good
☺Deep melee combat mechanics allow different playstyles
☺A lot of weapons for 4 different classes
☺Nice variety of maps and gamemodes
☺Great soundtrack and silly voice acting
☺Pretty good graphics for an indie game

The Bad
☹Technical issues (false hit detections, bugs, crashes and framerate stuttering problems)
☹Less depth on ranged weapon gameplay
☹Somewhat unfair and unbalanced votekick system

Worth Noting
  • Tough for new players. One of those "easy to play, hard to master" -games. If you're going to get the game, you should be prepared to invest a lot of time and effort into this one. Even after +400 hours, I still feel like I learn something new every playtime.

  • Just a small warning, the game doesn't have the 'friendliest' community out there. I've been teamkilled and votekicked from the game many times without any good reason. Try to play nice and fair, apologize for your accidental teamkills, otherwise ignore the chat firefights and you should be doing fine.

  • I highly recommend having a decent internet connection, just to make sure that you will not get kicked from every server and that you would have overall the best possible multiplayer experience.

这款游戏根本就是骑马与砍杀的独立版游戏!继承的很好,但也有些元素没有的。是一款非常解恨的游戏,你可以把敌人想象成仇人。这是个不错的主意!

只有PVP,而且居然还内置服装收费。
美术上历史学的差看不出什么纰漏,玩法类似第一人称的骑砍(没有马。
能够切实的感到武器的重量和体力的消耗。虽然这玩法简单,没啥扩展玩法,但这砍砍砍能够研究很久了。
细节很到位,连转身和武器的速度也考虑进去了,弓箭可以把头盔射掉,而且角色死亡后物理效果也会持续一会儿,受伤的箭矢也会保留插在身上。武器长度和攻击范围能够实际体会到,而且打到障碍物还会有阻碍。

当年在游民上看到的一个小游戏,居然买的正版。正好敢上打折。游戏简单粗暴,把对面打死就可以了。虽然打击感看上去跟老滚5差不多,但是技巧满满,但中国服务器的玩家略少啊。不过制作组也是满良心的,会不定时的推出新地图,新模式什么的。希望中国服务器玩家能多点。而且一些新人不懂规矩,不看服务器规则进来乱砍人,但马上就T出去了,这点没什么人情味啊。反正是推荐这个游戏的,也挺便宜的,希望中国的服务器有更多的中国人加进来。

Ever wanted an FPS without guns?! No? Cease lying to thine self, knave! If so- get Chivalry: Medieval Warfare!

HOURS of fast paced, your teammate's sword-in face action with a whole variety of classes such as the slow-♥♥♥ shield guy knight in shining armor, exclusive spear user well-rounded vanguard, coward fast-moving man at arms and ANNOYING LITTLE FU archer, everyone can find a place on the battlefield!

Pros:
  • Melee battles that aren't just "mash left mouse button and maybe right click sometimes"
  • Lots of weapons to unlock that genuinely feel different from eachother.
  • Doesn't get repetitive too easily
  • Classes all have distinctive playstyles screw archers though
  • The character lines can be really funny. Also, there are lots of Shakespeare quotes. How could you pass that up?
  • Plenty of strategical variety in battle. While there are only three ways to swing (6 if you count different directions), tactics like dragging, matrixing and feinting really makes battles interesting, not to mention class mechanics like dodging and charging.

Cons:
  • Teamkilling is common, especially among lower rank servers. Taking it out would suck, though.
  • In a melee dependent game, lag is a HUGE problem. You pretty much need decent internet.
  • Learning curve can be a bit daunting.
  • THE ARCHERS ARE CUTTING US DOWN

Best teamkilling simulator on the market!

总的来说是款好游戏,但目前不建议入手:官方的汉化很不到位,延迟可接受的联机房间也很少——单人战役?那是啥?

PLEASE DO NOT ADD ME BECAUSE OF THIS REVIEW

Great game, terrible, terrible, community. There are three... let's say 'breeds' of players:
(NOTE: These are the people I've come across in my experience, you might have seen different or a slight variation of players)

Breed 1: The Noob. They've just started playing, and are still learning the ropes. If you see them playing, it's most likely their first game. They will either be playing with friends who persuaded them to buy the game, or solo because they came across the game and thought it looked interesting.

Breed 2: The Average Player: These guys just play for fun and don't get bothered that much by TKing or losing. Most of these people just like to mess around with their friends. This is the kind of player you should be. This is, unfortunately, the least common type of player.

Breed 3: The "Pro": These guys are arrogant ♥♥♥♥♥ who think they are the best at the game because they googled "how 2 good at chivalry". They take everything dead serious. They will NEVER forgive a TK, even if it was an obvious accident. Heck, even if you accidentally hit them once, they'll start a vote to kick you off. Most of these guys play solo because "nobody else is good enough to play with them" (by that I mean nobody wants to play with them because nobody likes them.)

Unfortunately, the "pro" is the majoraty of Chivalry players. Which is a shame, because this game is great, and I really, really, want a good community along with it. Sadly, that is not the case. Please, if you buy this game, try to be what I described as an Average. Never, ever, be a "Pro". And don't get me wrong, this is an amazing game and I highly recommend it.

This Review
(TL;DR at bottom)
So, I'm beginning this review to help potential buyers decide whether they want this game. This review will track my progress as I log more and more hours into the game as it stands (as per this edit) I'm at 23 hours, that's just under one full day of gaming. At the end of this review, I'll try to break down pro's and con's of the game and look a little more in-depth at what the game has to offer.

Level 1
Starting the game, you'll notice the lack of single-player options - and right you are. This game is based around purely multiplayer midieval combat. So lets start our first game. Picking a server is easy at a lower level, those highlighted in green are low-rank servers, that means players level 0 to 15. These servers generally have a high population, and cycle through the game modes.
When you (or I, in this case) pick a server, you'll be able to see the current gamemode as well as current/limit players. I started with a low-pop Team Deathmatch game with 16 total players. When I hopped into the game, it was about halfway through, and as the teams were even, I got to pick a side (Agatha Knights or Mason Order). Now, these teams don't really matter all that much later on, no one will shun you for picking one over the other, but in my case I chose the Mason Order (Favorite color is Red). From there, there are four different classes.
Classes
  • Archer - Light, ranged troops. Beginner weapons are Longbow, Dagger, Crossbow, and Javelin (with optional sheild)
  • Man at Arms - Light, fast troops with low armor. Beginner weapons are Sword, Axe, Mace, and Quarter Staff. (Can also dodge)
  • Vanguard - Heavy armored troops with increadable damage and reach, beginner weapons are Greatsword, Poleaxe, Spear, and Hammer. (Can perform a charge attack)
  • Knight - Tank character with increadable armor, but slow moving. Beginner weapons are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sword, Greataxe, Hammer, and Flail.

So I hopped in as an archer, and immediately regretted my decision. Team deathmatch is almost squadbased, with groups of 3 or 4 charging at once, and everyone seems to have a general hatred towards archers. So, I died. A lot. Eventually I switched to a Man at Arms with the beginner shortsword. The speed was amazing, and I managed my first kill before dying. The game appeared ruthless to me, with wave after wave of enemies ready to stab me in the back - or throw something into my lower-♥♥♥♥ area. But it was fun, decapitating the few I could. By the end game, I had 5 kills and 13 deaths - but the five I killed were well worth it.

Levels 1-15

Game after game, I was killed. Repetitavely. But, I got better. Learned how to be more aware of my situation. Learned the different swings, and when to block/kick. By the time I was level ten, I could hold my own - and had even won a few 1v4 fights. My friends then got the game on sale - and let me tell you, when your friends are playing, the fun increases exponentially. Between level ten and fifteen I had my best games, including my very best being 43 kills and 3 deaths (Holy ♥♥♥♥). And the best part, I was progressing. I unlocked equipment, weapons. I learned when to use specific classes. I memorized the maps and knew my strategy. I went from absolutely terrible to a force to be reckoned with.

Levels 15 and on
I just reached level 16. But it's far from over. I have many more weapons I want to unlock, and many more kills I wish to obtain. I do like this game, a lot. Even the deadliest warrior portion - though it is significantly more buggy.

Pros and Cons
Cons
  • Price - At $21.99 CAD, the price is a little steep. I'm glad my buddies got it on sale for $8.00
  • Hit boxes - They are getting better, but they're not great. Sometimes you get clipped for seemingly no reason at all.
  • Game stuttering - even surpassing the recommended requirements by a mile, I still get stuttering.
Pros
  • Hours of Fun - The game is awesome. A great community and many different playstyles
  • Visuals - It's very pretty to look at, and ALMOST feels like real battle
  • Gamemodes - Versitile game modes, including TDM, FFA, Team objective, and Duel
