The Bridge is a wonderful little puzzle game which can be a real challenge. It will take all your patience to try to get to grips with how the puzzles work and sometime you will need to take a fresh stance but when those doors eventually open it feels great. There's plenty of chapters to the game for the games usual sale price to be an absolute steal.

Even when you play the mirrored chapters it brings in new mechanics making sure the game never becomes stale. The game looks great and has simple yet effective controls. As said, the game can be tricky in places and gives very little away, yet The Bridge is my favourite puzzle game so far and is well worth any time you put in.

I'm a huge fan of Escher's work and it should not surpise you that "The Bridge" resonated with my inner mathematician. The puzzle scale nicely from easy to ... not so very doable (I must admit I haven't gotten through the mirrored worlds yet, they're damned difficult).

My frustrations:
In a few levels I knew exactly what to do but the little guy walks so slow it took ages to get it done. This only happened in a few levels, so it's not too bad.

P.S. If you like computers, Escher and paradoxes you should try some Douglas Hofstadter books, they're amazing!

This is a good game for when you're very low on energy. It's still a puzzle game requiring some thought, but it's slow. You can do like me and just lay back, grab a game controller and do some trial&error, and the often slow rotation won't even bother you when you're not in any hurry. I usually didn't really get a eureka moment about how to solve a puzzle, just an idea about doing something different, and because the puzzles aren't that complex, that usually leads to success.
So when I'm in that state of mind, this is probably the only game in my library that I feel like playing.

I tried playing this intoxicated and I did not have any fun at all.

I have come back to this several times. It is boring, bland and you end up nowhere... when you get stuck.

Most of the time I am marvelling at the different perspectives and devices. You need to think creatively. Sadly this is an Indie cliche now though, so I wound up getting bored and sore fingered from all the spinning and holding in of buttons.

I thoroughly enjoy the small piece of collective depressing philosophy at the end of every chapter.

Get this game on sale. Play it. Get stuck or push on. Come back to it or delve deeper. Have fun. Get frustrated. Make some headway. Get stuck again. The first puzzles of a chapter tend to be thirty seconds fillers and the last puzzle tends to be more challenging. Sometimes you find yourself blindly trying things repeatedly until you get the right combo.

I enjoy the anticipation of how deep this rabbit hole is...

An interesting game with an obvious M.C. Escher theme that suffers from three main problems, in my opinion. First, each level consists of one puzzle to solve and there aren't that many levels. Second, some of the achievements seem to be bugged or are very nit-picky to achieve (being silent on the library level especially). And third, the game tries to double its length by making "mirror" levels, which are the same levels as the first half of the game, but flipped and with a bit of added difficulty. Only worth it if it's on sale.

Interesting concept and art-style but also a little on the short side. The reward for beating some of the tougher puzzles never really seems worth it and the more difficult levels can be borderline frustrating. There are a lot of different mechanics on display, all of which executed solidly and the controls are simple yet effective. It's good, it's just not £10 good imho. Worth getting on offer if its about.

In short, The Bridge is a puzzle game where the developer couldn't find their own style. While it's a puzzle game, rather than a platformer, it takes so much from the style of Braid while bringing nothing truly unique to the table that even though everything in it is functional, I can't possibly recommend this game.

Surprisingly dark puzzler.

The levels in the game are split into 2 sets. First, you play through all the levels, then you play the "mirrored" levels which have extra things added to them which makes the puzzles much harder. It's a cool concept and gives the game some length by bringing the total number of levels ~40-50.

In the puzzles, you can control which way the world is tilting and which direction your character walks in. By doing this, you have to get your character through a door which is the exit. All the levels follow an MC Escher type theme with impossible structures everywhere. Trying to wrap your head around the fact that the levels arent flat is one of the hardest things in the entire game. The levels starts out simple enough but then you move on to adding death balls, inversions to different colors, and veils which allow you to control the balls. The additional feature is the space bar which reverses time (Braid style) so you can fine tune your movements.

The levels have a natural challenge to them as more levels get introduced. However, the last level in the main campaign has a ridiculous difficulty spike and the last two levels of the mirrored levels are insanely complex. The difficulty jumps but for someone who is really into puzzlers, you will love it. It's only 2-3 hours with me being terrible but it’s a good length for a puzzler

There isn’t much of a story. You meet a dude and he goes through the doors. But if you read the plaques at the end of each set of rooms, you will get a sense of a scientist exploring a hypercube sort of deal (which is the mirrored). It's quite dark as each time you die, you get a message which depresses you. The music is creepy and adds to the atmosphere quite well. At the end of both the normal and mirrored edge, you try and cross a bridge... and stuff happens. I'm not sure what. But something happens. Overall, there is a story but I can’t make sense of it. However, it creates a wonderfully creepy atmosphere

Overall, if you like difficult puzzlers, have fun. Otherwise, it’s not really worth your time for 10 dollars.

TL;DR - A beautiful puzzle game revolving around a simple mechanic, with lots of content. A must-have for puzzle game connoisseurs.

A great puzzle game with a simple but interesting mechanic. The art style looks absolutely amazing, and the puzzles themselves are well-designed. The impossible architectures that are in the levels are intriguing. It reminded me a bit of Braid, mostly because of the art style, but The Bridge's main mechanic, the rotation is original, as far as I know. There is also a time-rewinding mechanic in the game, so you can undo your mistakes if yu happen to mess up, which is a nice addition, since you don't have to restart the entire level in case you fail.

There are many levels to play and collectibles to find, and after your first playthrough an alternative world is unlocked, in which you can play through more difficult versions of the original levels. I only had problems with 1-2 levels, the others can be figured out easily, or with a bit of thinking and planning.

To sum this review up, The Bridge is a very ambitious puzzle game with puzzles revolving around a simple mechanic, and with an amazing art style. I'd highly recommend it.
