The Bridge is a somewhat pretentious but great puzzle game about surreal perspectives and geometry. The difficulty rating will surely make it memorable for those who manage to somehow reach its end.

Long version:
Many things have been said about the Bridge. About the innovation of using puzzles based on impossible geometry (like the Penrose triangle). About the creativity of the hand-drawn black and white visual style. About the eerie, surreal story.

All of it is true. And all of it is (geatly) exaggerated.

First and foremost: the Bridge is nothing more than a set of rotation puzzles with good friction and momentum physics. Some levels are good. Some require a lot of tiresome fidgeting around to find that roughly 0.01° window to pull off the solution.
Don’t get me wrong: the puzzle design is great. It is also a little sadistic, especially in the second half of the game. This makes you to stop and think about the core of the problem instead of sheer trial and error, so it achieves that many other puzzle games could not.

Next to the difficulty, the most memorable feature of the Bridge is the visual style, which reminds us to the black & white underground obscure graphic novels from the late seventies. Strange as it may sound, but this surreal imagery really fits a logic-based puzzle game.
This warped mindset carries itself through the story, or more precisely the very conscious choice of not having any form of story whatsoever. It is just a collection of surrealistic monologues that try to make the player think deeper things into the levels than what they really are: a set of good rotational puzzles with really high difficulty.

Good Not Great In A Crowded Field
Over the past 5 years there may not be a more over-worked genre than "indie puzzle". There are a few stars and The Bridge is trying hard to be one of those. Unfortunately it's simply noticeable and not remarkable. The non-reality space that makes up the core of the puzzles is relatively unique and challenging but not impossible. The art style is very striking, sort of a pencil sketch in motion, but outside of that it's pretty standard fair. You rotate your view, jump and navigate hazards, move giant boulders using physics, switch between dimensions, and get the story in pieces outside of the actual gameplay.
At the end of the day its definitely a cut above average but not in the upper echelon. Unless the screenshots and trailer get you really exited you can safely wait for a sale to pick this up, although the base price is by no means excessive.

Its been a while I don't play such a great puzzle game!

It is short, but the puzzles are really worthy. The art is great, and the "collector" achievement is quite of a challenge too!
The only downside are the controls: sometimes you wish The Professor would walk faster, and the world spin faster. There should be an option to speed up the gameplay.

The story is also lacking, which is a pitty. It is too vague and easilly missed. All in all, this is a puzzle game, play it for the puzzles and you shall not be disappointed!

Great and challenging puzzle game that plays with physics of our nature with a good combination of art and concept of the game.

Finished 100% achievements in about 12hours (it can be donde faster, I got stucked sometimes in the hardest puzzles).

The bridge is a very impressive game with amazing art direction, an incredibly abstract and artful level design, and a mind-bending concept overall. The art style is definitely what will grab your attention the most; every single character model and backdrop is very carefully crafted in a greyscale, architecture like style, and every bit of the scenery has something interesting to look at. The gameplay is also very impressive for what it has presented, and each level has its own unique concept... that is until you get to the mirrored world, which is just the same design as the previous levels only in reverse and with a few extra obstacles thrown in. To be honest if there were no more ideas for levels then the game should have ended after the first 4 worlds. But that's really my only complaint and no where near hindered my enjoyment.

Overall this is a fantastic game that any puzzle enthusiast and art lover will enjoy.
