To Do for late Oct/Early Nov

Here's our todo list for October and into November listed in order of priority:

  • Soundtrack as FREE DLC
  • Controls and Quick Guide in game
  • Challenge Levels - 30 in total by Oct 31
  • Story - implementation worked out by Oct 31 but we want more story than we have so this will take us into November
  • More Bosses - This is really in our November list but we'll be thinking about it as we go along ^_^

We'll update the todo list the first week of November but that's what is coming soon ^_^

What's Next :D

Why hello! :D

We are back from LA and feeling renewed and energized - except the jet lag :P

Wanted to quick update you on where we are going now. Chris and I have a ToDo list set and we have a meeting to prioritize after each build. Today is all about bug fixes (thanks soooo much for posting them!!). Tonight we'll have the meeting and tomorrow I'll post the list along with a time frame for the next build.

Right now I could deffo use your feedback on the last build. What did you like? What do you wish was different? Are the bosses too easy to be considered easy? Was the art for the bosses okay? etc

ALSO: A community member had this AWESOME idea for unlockable skins for Robbe using the retro versions of Robbe you see in the Trading Cards - purely cosmetic. I *love* this idea, but it would take quite a bit of time to recreate all the animations. We are definitely not opposed to it, but thought it would be worth throwing the idea out there to the whole community to see if you were interested in the idea or not. :)

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. I got it by buying bundle and still i regret. Its like '90 dos games but without story or anything just go and finish level. 9$ IS TOO MUCH this game should worth like 99 cents or less. If you want another perfect game i fully recommend coz it can be done 100% in 15 minutes.

One of the worst games I've ever played. I like trying to get 100% achievements in games and this game only has 7 achievements but the game's so bad that I don't even want to get an "easy" perfect game by spending an hour killing myself by falling a THOUSAND TIMES.. Just not worth it.

Anyway I should get to the reasons WHY this game is so terrible.

First, the sound. It has some pretty nice music in the main menu but once you start the game there's nothing except the unbelievably annoying sound that comes from your character each time you jump.There's not even any sound that comes from the trampoline when you jump on it.

Everything that has a strike through has been fixed.

Secondly, the gameplay. Just barely coming NEAR a spike (not even touching it) kills you and restarts the level. On challenge levels your character's movement is just insanely slow.

2/10 This game is just a drag to play. Thankfully I got this for free which it really should be.. I was appalled to see that this was 10 dollars. At the very MOST it should be 3 dollars.

Only redeeming qualities are the really nice looking cards, Store page picture (which, I should add doesn't even match how the game looks) and main menu music.

To the developers, I suggest trying to remake the game in the artstyle of the cards (obviously not talking about the "Robbe: Final Iteration c. 2014" card) and Store page picture. If the game was in that artstyle it might actually be playable. Of course fix the gameplay as well. Then replace the barely audible horror-like soundtrack that plays in the background during gameplay with something similar to the main menu song.

After playing the alpha build, the game seems terrible with the physics and limitaions (specifially running too fast and collision detection as well as controller mapping on d-pad for xbox) which are big issues for this genre (platforming).

After reading the feedback as well and seeing a beta build availabe, the beta fixes some of the major issues for campaign mode, specifically the running physics. However, the challenge mode still suffers from the alpha build issues.

I still don't recommend the game in its current state. However I feel it is far from complete and may update the review in later builds.

Note: Currently, easy to 100% achievement the game for easy stats.

무료로 받은 게임입니다. 구석에 놓고 거들떠도 안봤는데, 트레이딩 카드가 있길래 농사 지으려고 실행해 봤어요.
위의 Woodle~~ 과 똑같은 Config 창이 등장해서 좀 불안했지만, 편견일거라고 믿고 실행했습니다.


[그래픽]
메인메뉴까진 볼만 하더라구요. 깔끔하고. 그래서 게임의 컨셉도 메인 이미지나 메뉴와 같은 몽환적이면서 깔끔하고 심플한 느낌일 줄 알았는데, 왠 8bit 플랫포머를 어설픈 벡터 그래픽으로 바꾼 듯 한 모습의 타일에, 캐릭터는 (정말로)오직 5개 색을 Paint Bucket으로 부어버린 듯한 모습에다가, 제가 기대하던 모습은 폰트에서밖에 없더군요.
분명 컨셉은 '기억'과 관련된 이야기인 것같은데 왜 타일들이나 오브젝트(열쇠 같은)들은 평범한 던전인지도 의문이에요.

사실 이건 상점의 다른 사진을 안 본 제가 잘못한걸지도 모르지만요.

제게 있어서 위의 불만보다 더 짜증나는 건 고해상도에서 로딩 이미지나 죽었을 때의 이미지 픽셀이 깨진다는 겁니다. 지나치게 작게 작업한 로딩/다잉 이미지를 모니터 해상도에 강제로 맞추려 하다보니 발생하는 문제인 것 같은데, 왜 이 개발자들은 초고해상도도 아니고 일반적인 1920*1080 와이드에 맞춰 작업할 생각을 못한 걸까요?
그러면서 게임 타일(+캐릭터)은 웃길 정도로 깔끔하니까 괴리감이 들더라구요. 차라리 도트 그래픽이었으면 말을 안하지.


[사운드]
메인화면에서 각 메뉴(도전과제, 스탯 등)에 들어갈 때 마다 음악이 리셋돼서 거슬려요. 이런걸 신경을 쓰지 않다니.

죽을 때 아무 소리도 안나서 정말 '웃겨요'. 소리도 나지 않고 위에서 말한 그 깨지는 픽셀의 이미지만 덜렁.


[조작]
진짜 최악. Woodle~~이 훨씬 수작.
캠페인 첫 탄 첫 번째 용수철에서 짜증나서 게임 팽개침.
대부분의 플랫포머들이 플레이어의 편의성과 원활한 플레이를 위해 공중에서의 방향전환과 이동을 허용하고 있는데 반해, 이 게임은 그런게 없거나 거의 없어요.
일반적인 이동속도도 다른 대부분의 플랫포머가 '빠른 가속도로 높은 최고속력에 도달'한다면 이 게임은 '깝깝한 가속도로 형편없는 최고속력에 도달'한다는 느낌이라서, 캐릭터도 둔하고, 가시 넘기도 힘들고.


[결론]
그런데 가격은 또 9.99달러네요. 저를 포함해서 이걸 하는 사람들의 대부분이 어떤 경로(번들 포함)를 통해서든 무료로 받은 사람들이 대부분이겠지만. 얼리 액세스인데 무료로 풀리는 게임이면서 트레이딩 카드가 있다면 앞으로는 실행만 시키고 밥이나 먹고 오기로 했습니다.

I've played a few different early access titles, and this so far is probably the worst. The game is as simple as they come. It is a platformer, where you run left and right, and jump. That is the entirety of your move set. The levels consist of 10 "tutorial" stages, and randomly generated stages. The stages are all the size of a single screen. The graphics are pretty simple, with mostly different shades of green being represented, and some decent but not impressive lighting effects in some of the tutorial stages.

I have a couple of gripes. First, the randomly generated stages. I tried and tried and tried to figure out some of them, but it appears that the way the stages are generated, roughly 75% of them are not improbable to beat, but no, they are impossible to beat. How so? The placement of the exit doors. And it seems this section of the level is recycle through a good deal of the randomly generated levels. There are about 3 variations where it is impossible to navigate the pitfalls and spikes, since you can only jump once before you land again. I am not sure how the developers did not notice this when testing.

Secondly, this seems to be a very small project. I can understand the pacing of development for more ambitious projects, like Starbound, Starforge, Paranormal, etc.. These games are more complex. They will take time. What I am seeing here looks like a game that could be completed over a short period of time. This game has been out nearly a month and a half on Steam, and yet we have a broken level generating system, and only 10 extremely small levels? 10 levels which can be completed in about 10-20 seconds each also, taking your time. That is not even an exaggeration.

Third gripe. The price. Granted, I was lucky to get this game via a bundle. I can not fathom actually paying the asking price of $9.99 for this. I know fully well that this is an early access game. But there should still be some standards. At this point, I can not fully recommend this to anyone at the current asking price. There are far better early access games out there worth your attention. This is just another case of something slipping through the cracks that Valve really needs to put a seal on.

UPDATE:

Adding random generated dungeon did not saved this game.

The controls are still a pain in the ♥♥♥, and most of the time, the maps are ridiculous. And since most of the time you will die for stupid reason, the absence of checkpoints makes the game even more frustrating then it was before.

This game is just a mess. I don't see how can somebody save it.

EARLY ACCESS REVIEW:

I wish I could Imagine a better game..

Imagine me is just one simple platformer. The concept looks nice I guess, but there aren't any interesting new gameplay elements. This makes the game flat.

The art style probably is the only good thing from this game. It's not new or mind-blowing, but looks neat at least.

Everything else is a huge mess: the controls are super weird, you never understand when you're gonna jump high or when you're gonna jump IN THE HEIGHT YOU WANT.
The levels are super easy. Really, no effort. Looks like a flash game from the early 2000s.

9€ for this is a scam. I only have it 'cause I got a free steam key for it. And I beat all the levels in less than 20 minutes.
For now, don't bother spending on it even on a big sale. Wait to see if the game gets any better with the time.

Final Rating: 3/10

It has nothing to offer. Literally nothing. Except tons of achievement for just opening the game.

I highly recommend avoiding this game. I got it for free from Alienware Arena and 100%-ed it in about 15 minutes or so. I spent another 5 minutes recording a video about why you shouldn't buy it. I'm actually a little annoyed that it will now show up forever in my game library. The ONLY reason I can see buying this game is at 95% off to get an easy 100% completed game. That's it.

I got this game through a bundle, otherwise I don't recommend spending money on it, yet.
What you see is what you get. Looks and feels like programmed in an 48h programming contest.
The music is nice, true... and a nice story.

But from the game mechanics perspective it's just a copy of a copy ... With a level design like this you can browse steam and will find lots of quality platformer much more worth the dime.
So far no fun :(

According to Steam, I have only played the game for 15 minutes. That sounds about right. During that 15 minutes I have played through the entirety of the game. I then quit, while scratching my head and asking myself "What am I missing? There has to be something I'm overlooking here." After a little investigating it is clear that I did not miss anything, I really did 100% the game in 15 minutes. About 5 minutes of that time was spent pressing every button and key on my controller and keyboard trying to find hidden options or abilities that will help me beat the 75% of the "generated" levels that are literally unbeatable.

The game consists of 8 "tutorial" levels that slowly introduce game mechanics of springs, keys, doors, and spikes. You will beat these levels in about 5 minutes if you take your time. After you are done with those, all you are left with is the "generated" levels. 75% of these "generated" levels (which are not actually generated, you will run into the same few levels over and over) are unbeatable due to the positioning of the exit door, and the lack of an actual game mechanic or player ability other than running and jumping. If you are lucky enough to end up in one of the winnable levels, then after you reach the exit door you will be kicked back out to the hub world where you can once again choose to play the tutorials again or another generated level. I have cycled through the generated levels several times, and I only counted 2 of them that are actually winnable.

The game has no replayability, no interesting mechanics, and no redeeming factors. The sound is fine.

Something important to note is that despite the Steam Store page for the game saying "Full Controller Support", the game does not use xInput (important to anyone using an Xbox controller or x360ce) and does not allow you to rebind keys. So you'll likely have the jump button be something ridiculous like a shoulder button on your controller.

Don't buy this game for any price in its current state.

This isn't a game. It's a game engine test at best and the game engine is not good. The 'physics' are horrible making the very basic controls feel really off. The level design is absolutely generic with nothing that holds your attention. Same goes for the graphical presentation. This is what gives early access a bad name. Exactly this. Please do yourself a favour and avoid this 'game'.

I sincerely hope the creators of this game are at 10% completion, because that was really REALLY underwhelming. This is basically an easy-mode platformer with spikes and trampolines. That's basically it. I was excited to see portals and crates... but they didn't add any mechanic to the game worth mentioning. The boxes are pushable. Woohoo. I beat the entire game in about 10 minutes, and spent another 10 trying to figure out if there were any secrets or achievements hidden somehow, somewhere. Nope.

Be sure to read the memories, they add a "story" to the game. [SPOILERS: You were a kid, playing in the park, at a birthday party, and you were hit by a car. So sad. I guess this is a coma dream?] This feels like something built as a class project from a high school progamming class. No, I take it back, a community college class. It IS fairly polished and smooth, I suppose, just ... really too simple.

This is one Early Access game you should avoid, at least for the time being. The content in the game currently lasts all of 15 minutes, and none of it is any good. There are far better platformers out there with far fewer flaws.

First of all, one of my pet peeves surfaces in this game: it doesn't recognize the d-pad. For a platformer that specifically tells you to use a controller every time the game loads, this is borderline unforgivable. The platforming itself feels boring and uninspired, consisting of short levels with not much to do in them. Sometimes the jump decides it isn't going to jump today. The timing on getting a boosted jump from springs feels similarly capricious. The random level generator usually spits out unplayable garbage, and the actually developer-designed levels are so sparse as to barely be worth mentioning. The level select resets to the first level every time instead of automatically moving to the newly unlocked level, which is a minor annoyance.

In its current state, there is nothing that should compel you to spend $10 on this game. In fact, if you wait you'll actually get a better price, unlike most Early Access games which offer you a discount to encourage you to buy an incomplete product:
"The price will be lower outside of Early Access. The game is currently priced higher. This is so no one buys the game without reading a little bit about it."

Don't spend money on this game right now, it will be cheaper and hopefully better later.

It's bad enough to come off as a lame way for someone to trick people into giving them money for something that is very broken. How hard it is to screw up basic platformer controls? I can't make games but I've managed to get righter controls from doing a tutorial for Game Maker that I never finished becuase I got lost from version differences.

I'll add some reasons why this is bad.

I've played a lot of platformers since the NES days. I love platformers. I'm not sure what this qualifies as. It seems extremely broken. Slightly touch the Right direction and you slide extremely fast to the right...right into a block...which kills you because there is a spike above it. Yes, above it. The hit boxes are so off. You die from spikes when you haven't even come into contact with them. You touch a block that has a spike above it, dead.

Something seems terribly wrong with the friction settings too. You completely stop moving when you come into contact with a wall. One might try to hide this problem by calling it a wall grab or something similar. A feature? LIsten, I know wall grabs from the many games that pull it off. This is not a wall grab.

Dev, if you used Game Maker for this, at least finish the tutorials on how to make a simple platformer.

I really hate to use such harsh judgements on a game, especially early access. But This game does not even seem to have the basic foundational mechanics working enough to be fun. That would seem to me to be much more important that getting a random level generator working, or spooky sound design, or story. Get the dang game working at least up to par with some oldschool Atari titles before passing it along to public.

I will gladly change my opinion of this game if the changes between now and completion are drastic enough in a good way. RIght now they would need to be extremely drastic at best.

I would never discourage one from getting into game dev and creating something fun to play. By all means make it fun. Have fun doing it. But when you get it released on Steam as Early Access for $9.99 in the currect state it is in it kind of feels like a slap in the face. I cannot recommend this unless I was trying to prank someone out of $10. (which I would never do)

P.S. It's really late and I haven't slept in ages. It's possible I'm over reacting and lacking in my ability to filter the harshness. But please put some effort into making this game actually playable and fun.

P.S.S. At least this game has a pretty title screen.

Twelve minutes of playtime on this game and I've finished the ridiculously easy 'challenge' levels, played with the random dungeon feature which needs a lot of work, and created a 'memory' which isn't explained in the game but could be built into something interesting in the future.

As of right now, even for an early-access game, this isn't worth anyone's time.
