Catching Up :)

The double jump from the springs fixed the problem!! :D It was such an easy fix, but the delay caused bigger issues. We'll continue to work on the Feb content update and fixes :) but have a wonderful evening for now!!

Hello everyone!

I'm so sorry for the delayed responses to questions and reviews.

I just wanted to post a quick message saying I'll be catching up on everything starting tomorrow :) I've been taken down by multiple viruses so far in 2015 can't wait to be 100% healthy again :D

I couldn't help but check the messages tonight. I see there is a definite issue with the springs since we altered their "bounce" height. I'll chat it over with Chris, but I think our best option is to allow double jumps from a spring. We'll make sure that is a 100% fix for the levels. So sorry for the delay everyone!!

Animations, Tweaks, and Fixes

Hey everyone!!
Hope you are having a wonderful January!! We've absolutely loved the awesome feedback everyone is giving :) It really does make a difference, please keep it coming!!

The BIGGEST news is we've added a few animations. Please let us know what you think :)

There are a TON of tweaks and fixes:

  • Pink spike cannon hitbox fixed
  • Spike cannon shots should die/disappear now
  • 2-6 Challenge Level pits now kill you - community submitted
  • Purple Entrance now an Entrance not an Exit Script
  • Shaddow Boxes (bouncy things) have better hitboxes - community submitted
  • Nightmare Boss level tiles adjusted - community submitted
  • Depths Boss not dying/completing fixed - community submitted
  • Spring bounce height tweaked - community submitted
  • Very slight reduction in Robbe's gravity when falling - PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK - community submitted
  • Controls Splash at end of every game removed - community submitted

Imagine Me was originally released to Steam Early Access in March 2014. The development team worked closely with the Steam community to grow and shape the game into what it is today. The Imagine Me team includes all of the Early Access community members who devoted time and effort to the development of Imagine Me.

Honestly, not much to see here. Run of the mill graphics, one weapon, 2 enemies. Random level generation, which in this case was a bad idea. PIts that lead to no where, locked doors leading to dead ends, and areas where suicide is the only way out.

Not worth it at full price. If you see it at 75% or 90% off however, its an easy game to 100%.

Its a shame too, as the dev seems cheery, responsive, and they do fix the bugs. Problem is, the game just isnt that good.

The moment I started playing this game, I knew something was wrong. I went to look at the controls, and the screen came up behind the level I was on. THIS GAME IS CANCER. DO NOT BUY/PLAY.

Everything about this game screams 'baby's first programming attempt'. The game relies solely on randomly generated levels, which often contain impossible jumps and walled-off spikes, and offers little more gameplay than jumping (of which you can double-jump, but ONLY if you jump first - no fall-jumping) and shooting blocks to get to the end of a map. Enemies are little more than moving dangers - one hit of which will send you back to the beginning. Becareful of projectiles too, as hitting one (which kills you) will cause it to remain floating in the air, making some maps impossible to complete (as the stationary object will still kill you on touch).

I say this not out of spite - I know everybody has to start somewhere - but you can find better games for free on flash sites. Paying for this game would be a waste of any money. I can't remember how this came to be in my library - possibly by a Humble Bundle - but be assured that after this single sitting, I have no reason to ever come back to this poor excuse of a game.

EDIT 1: I finally made it to a level that was literally impossible to reach the end of. Luckily the developer foresaw this and gives you a 'regenerate' button on the menu. Known your generation system is that flaw to put a failsafe in is quite something. Oh, and I hope you like the first three bosses, because you'll be seeing them again.

EDIT 2: Having played two hours and 8 bosses worth of levels, the story (a scentence between levels) just loops, with no ending or purpose. They might as well be blank loading screens, as there is no payoff, no cohesive story, and NO END TO THE GAME. This is nothing but a worseless, waste of time. Yes there are challenge levels, they're nearly impossible to do.

This game is randomly generated. Infinitely long. Handles like ♥♥♥♥. Campaign is too easy. Challenges are too hard. There are three enemy-types, which all might as well just be moving spikes. I have seen better games for free on Newgrounds, so do yourself a favour and give this a wide berth.

Imagine Me would be considered plain even if it had came out back in the early 90´s, and yet, its astonishing how such a simple game manages to do so many things wrong.
Every level looks the same, you just go from point A to point B, avoiding spikes and enemies that barely move, by the end of each level you get a memory, that grants you further passage to the next one.
Developers like to show theyre still working on this game, but:
-The exit is always located either on the bottom right or bottom left corner.
-Every time you die you get the same dead screen, it gets really annoying.
-controls aren't tight.
- i wouldn't mind the art-style but there's a severe lack of animations.
- the game is too repetitive and has a very poor level design, it would be more interesting if there were some Non randomly generated levels.
- the hit boxes are bigger than the objects that are supposed to kill you, its an easy game and i could adjust to that, but it just shows how little work was put in this game.
- The Broken level generator more often than not leads to impossible levels, i've played for 10 min until i came across an impossible level. Levels don't even change when you die, the only option is to start the game all over again.
-the options menu is pretty lousy and cannot even be accessed while in game, instead you just get this really annoying screen that appears every time you start a new game showing you the pre mapped controls and some instructions on how to play, there's even a special key just to open the instructions again. I dont get it, of all things that are missing, why do the developers want to force this on players, the game couldn't be simpler, children games are harder to understand than this, it serves no purpose.

If devs were ever involved in Imagine Me they would have fixed some of this problems by now, they seem to take into account everyone's bad feedback and yet no changes have been made. How difficult could it be to generate new levels every time you die just so it was at least possible to continue playing without having to start from the beginning every time you get stuck.

As is, Imagine Me is not even worth its current price. Its one of the worst games ive played and deserves every negative review it got. At Least most indie developers try something different and creative even if they happen to fail

They say "derp" at some point
There are two type of base blocks
There are two types of instakill blocks
There are two enemies
There's one weapon
It looks like it was made with a basic level developer
Hitboxes are buggy
Lots of bugs
I got this game in a "beautiful games" bundle, but the only way to describe it is lame.

The game is not well made in any way shape or form.

-Jump sound is a panting dog;
-Levels looks aesthetically unpleasing;
-Depressing music;
-Game not in a challenging puzzle way. Rather it is due to poor design of enemies/obstacles.
-Camera is sluggish.

0/10 don't even bother.

It's not good, but it's a bunch of free acheivements.

Anything that resembles a challenge or difficultly is down to the game being broken and nothing else. Hit detection is completely goofed.

So...I wanted to go through my Steam library to play games I had yet to play.
Well, I'm glad I went to this game first because I'm no longer going to play this game again.

I've made a few games for fun back in the days, self-taught. They were far better than this game. My games were simple, yet was fun. This game is boring.

There's not much of a reason to play this game. This game is too repetitive. The levels are randomized but practically all the same. There's no variety in this game really. Even my first platforming game I had ever made had more than two enemies and they had different qualities. The enemies here poses no threat. If you die, you restart the level. $2.99 is too much to ask. Bad Rats is a much better deal. I actually did have fun with that game. I would had actually spent money on Bad Rats, I would never spend money on this game. I got it for free from...somewhere. I have regrets of getting this for free, but I could sell the card I just got from this game. Yay!

Things I liked:
-I can make a little profit from that card (you won't get profit if you buy this game. According to Enhanced Steam extension, this game lowest price has been $2.24. Get it only if you can sell the cards for more than you've spent.)
-One boss somewhat made me startled I guess...
-The text after every level were somewhat interesting I suppose.

Things I disliked:
-There's a dedicated button for showing the controls which looks ugly because it goes behinds the platforms and such. You can't even see it. The controls however, are easy to learn, but not precise at all. I found my character still running even without pressing any buttons. Not too sure what the look button was for either...
-Two enemies, boring, no threat.
-Bosses were pretty boring too. Much more improved than the regular enemies, but these bosses can easily become regular enemies.
-The boxes...I'm not too sure why I can move them when I jump on them.
-Sometimes I can't double jump. I'm not entirely sure why I can't do it at certain moments but I'm not playing more to figure it out.
-Repetitive. All levels are basically the same just randomly arranged. (Have yet to see an impossible level.)
-Nothing really to look at.

Oh, I can provide another positive. I can cross this off my "Steam Games in my Library I haven't Yet Played" list.

honestly, I went into this game expecting a cerebral, thought-provoking story with some, at least decent, platforming. what I got, instead, was this... thing, that tried to tell the story of the protagonist, Robbe, through little snippets after every dungeon. and once I got to the end of the Bully chapter, the game actually looped back and started me from the beginning of the game. I tried again, thinking maybe I didn't kill a specific boss to progress, only to find out that one of the bosses is unbeatable. I had slain the Winged Guardians (which there were only two of, from what I saw), and went for the Depths Monster. I had loosed 100+ arrows into it, and it didn't die. I thought I missed a guardian, so I looked around and found no more. just... invulnerable spheres that shot the same projectiles as the Guardians.

all in all, I'd have to give it...
C- on the story
F on level design
F on balancing

overall, this game failed to produce any feeling other than confusion and exasperation.

I want to recommend that game but I just can't. The only 3 good things I can tell about it are that it was made with love (but love =/= quality), random generated levels are cool idea and its short soundtrack is really really good.

The story is confusing, when you finish it it just starts from the beginning with no explaintion and no conclusion. Also very very very boring with horribe horrible pace.
Some of the random levels are unbeatable because you simply cannot get the exit or due to other bugs the path is blocked by standing-still projectiles from earlier failures that were not cleared out.
The programmer has no idea of how to work with Unity and it's horrible. For a game that the number of animations and assets can be counted on 3 hands it's stupidly weights 1.3GB. If it was done right it should be 100MB tops if you compare it to Thomas Was Alone. I have no idea how the ♥♥♥♥s it weights so much when there's so little content in this game.
The documentation is just super bad. You see the instructions of how to play at the beginning of every level and not even once it tells you you can dounle jump (which is bugged when intercating with springs) or sometimes you can head stump enemies and won't die (probably a bug).

If you can get it for like 20 cents or less go for it for card farming and the soundtrack. The game doesn't worth any spare second or cent beyond this. Too bad you have to install this ♥♥♥♥ to get the soundtrack. I recommend the developers to learn how to do a properly 2D game in Unity or just to move to Media Fusion Studio or GameMaker.

I have 0 clue why I purchased this game, obviously came with a HumbleBundle but why did I even claim it, I wish I traded this for Bad Rats

The game is bad, there is no doubt about it, however i got every single achievement and i think this game could have been a good game if it had better levels / challenges.

Sure the controls are not perfect, the hitboxes are off and the game looks and sounds bad, but the mechanics are solid although basic. The biggest problem with the game is that it doesn't have any good levels, the random generated levels are really boring, the arrows and keys you collect are meaningless and the 2 different Bosses i encountered died pretty much instantly. The challenge levels are not very challenging, dodging a couple of spikes to reach the exit door isn't interesting enough.

The game feels more like a proof of concept than an actual game, it isn't the worst game on steam but it sure as hell isn't a good game.

Обычно мы вдохновляемся от положительного, а тут в точности да наоборот. Я просто не могу не написать сейчас этот обзор, ибо крайне не рад произошедшему. Да, игра жуткий треш и все дела... *подписывается под всеми отрицательными обзорами и предлагает читателям почитать их, дабы не писать всё это тут*. Так вот, я мучился с ней, я погибал эти 1000 раз и делал кучу иных бестолковых заданий, чтобы получить тупо, но честно, заветные 100% достижений. Сейчас же все достижения этого рода убрали, на некоторых убралось время получения, а ещё добавились новые. А-а-а, то есть всё это было бесполезно? Нет, всё же нет... Я наслаждался музычкой в главном меню, ведь это единственное, что мне понравилось, а потом нашёл её в контакте, чему радуюсь до сих пор. Ранний доступ - это зло и теперь я просто не буду играть в игры с ранним доступом, вот такой вот урок.

Некий человечек в детской меховой шапке оказывается в неизвестном месте, находит фото автомобиля и попадает в пещеру. Там его ждут шипы, стреляющие шипы и духи огня и дыма, а также повсюду расставленные пружины, луки чтобы он мог стрелять и ключи открывающие пустые сундуки-ящики, ещё в игре есть простые ящики которые навалили и поставили не понятно зачем. Одно касание шипа или духа и уровень придётся начинать заново. Смысла нет, дойти до выхода в виде двери чтобы выйти на поверхность, а затем попасть ещё одну пещеру и так далее до бесконечности. Все пещеры рандомно генерируется, но интереса никакого нет потому то примитивно всё окружение, текстуры. Графика настолько незатейлива что отсылает в конец девяностых, это недо-платформер с плохим управлением уступает даже Squishy the Suicidal Pig. Музыка не плоха, она нейтральна, не вызывает ни восхищения, ни недовольства. Всё бы ничего поиграл и забыл, но разработчик с упорством уже во второй раз добавляет в игру достижения, чтобы игрок в очередной раз мог насладиться этим убожеством.

Если у Вас проблемы в жизни или просто плохое настроение, то зайдите в эту игру и она Вас сразу же воодушевит на большее. Будете умирать очень часто, ну либо у меня просто руки кривые. Начинать придется каждый раз с начала, что бы пройти до конца нужно посчитать несколько раз до 10, что бы успокоиться. После Вы узнаете, для того что бы получить все ачивки нужно умереть 1.000 раз, я проходил ее постепенно, часа два, так как нажимать на уровень и дохнуть очень муторно и надоедает.

Вообщем игра 10/10, хорошо, что я получил ее бесплатно.

I have one question - how is it appeared at the library? The game is ugly from the design to the soundtrack. Inconvenient control, lack of plot, continuous jammings. The meaning of early access is also not clear. Probably, collection cards are added in order that someone bought it. I don't recommend it to do. Unless for a gift to especially hated people.
