Kerbal Space Program patch 1.1.1 is now available!

Hello everyone!

The 1.1.1 patch is now available! This patch will bring high priority fixes to the game. Although last week’s release of 1.1 went smoothly, there were still a few bugs left to fix. Considering we updated the game’s engine we’re all very pleased with the overall state of the game. Those of you who were around for the switch from Unity 3 to Unity 4 in version 0.18.4 will certainly remember how much impact changing the game engine can have on the game’s stability.

Check out the full changelog on our forums. The update should start downloading through your steam client automatically soon™.

Acerca de este juego

In KSP you must build a space-worthy craft, capable of flying its crew out into space without killing them. At your disposal is a collection of parts, which must be assembled to create a functional ship. Each part has its own function and will affect the way a ship flies (or doesn't). So strap yourself in, and get ready to try some Rocket Science!

The game offers three gameplay modes: Sandbox, in which you are free to build anything you can think of; Science Mode, which lets you perform Scientific experiments to advance the knowledge of Kerbalkind and further the available technology; and Career Mode, in which you must manage every aspect of your Space Program, including administration strategies, Crew Management, Reputation, as well as taking up Contracts to earn Funds and upgrade your Space Center Facilities (or repair them).

Add to this the ability to capture asteroids (a feature done in collaboration with NASA), Mining for resources out across the furthest reaches of the Solar System, Constructing Bases and Space Stations in and around other worlds; plus literally thousands of mods from a huge active modding community, all add up into the award-winning game that has taken the space sim genre by storm.

Key Features

  • The Vehicle Assembly Building and the Space Plane Hangar allows players to build spacecraft out of any imaginable combination of parts.
  • Fully-fledged, Physics-based Space Flight Simulation ensures everything will fly (and crash) as it should.
  • Take your Kerbal crew out of the ship and do Extra Vehicular Activities.
  • Fly out to Moons and other Planets.
  • Procedural Terrain delivers detailed terrain at a vast scale. The Kerbal Planet is 600km in radius!
  • Mod-enabled, allows players to create new content and modify the game.
  • Ship systems. Keep an eye out for engine temperatures and fuel levels, and try not to explode.
  • Build ships with multiple stages, and jettison parts away as they burn out.
  • Full control over the ship’s setup allows for complex ships and advanced functionality.
  • Dock spacecraft together to build Space Stations, Massive Starships, or even surface bases on other worlds.
  • Manage your crewmembers, hire them, and send them out into space and make them into heroes.
  • Research and Develop new technologies to advance your Space Program.
  • Take on Missions to attract interest in your Space Program.
  • Discover new worlds and expand the scientific knowledge of Kerbalkind.
  • Extract valuable resources from all over the solar system.
  • And a whole lot more!

Amazing fun game. Watch the many, many youtube videos on it to see what its all about and what you can do.

Its a great sandbox game with a little carrier mode attached to it. Personally, I mostly play sandbox, but its really fun.

Just as a pur flightgame simuator btw, its a great game, since the planes do handle like planes. So even on Kerbin alone (which is basically earth), you can play for hours and hours, by designing and flighing airplanes and jets.

And thats only the start. The main mode is the rockets and flying to ver different planets and moonds. And a lot of them. Oh and commets.

Lastly but certainly not leastly (:D), the fact that they ported the game to a whole new engine and release that as a free patch, after over 2 years of it being released shoudl speak volumes to the dedication of the deleopers for this game.

One of the best games released in the last decade and I mean it. Mostly because of how different it is. It is a truly fresh expirience and I love it.

Great game.

One year ago, sentences like "The space craft would stay in low earth orbit then go to moon" made no sense to me. I couldn't tell the difference between a single stage to orbit ship and a space station if my life depended on it. I would not believe someone who said you do not need to get escape velocity to go to the moon. I never really understood what it meant when people said apollo 11 had a orbiter and a lander separated and landed on the moon. I had no idea why space ships needed multiple stages or why it is a big deal to land the first stage back on earth.

Thanks to Kerbal Space Program (and Scott Manley (see his youtube videos if you haven't)) I now know how ignorant I was. Space always fascinated me, but I don't think short of studying orbital mechanics at a university, I would have ever learned about the awesome world of space travel if it wasn't for this game. Highly recommended for people who want to learn and do some hands on experiments. Also recommended for people who want to make crazy space ships and try (and fail) to get them to "space".

If you are willing to learn a lot about how rockets work with lots of failures and explosions, you are in the right place.

It might not be easy at first, but after a while you will be able to put things into orbit, rendezvous and dock spaceship. And if it ever becomes too easy, you can install mods that make it even more interesting, like setting up communication satellites to other planets to be able to explore them (RemoteTech) or even Realism Overall, where you will be even closer to how real rocketry works and have even more explosions.

I used to love this game and poored hours into building bases on the mun. But bugs have started to increase after 1.0 and ever every update, mods become useless and you have to wait until the creators update their mods. And that can cause you to restart you entire game. I cant even count the times i had to redo my playthrough because my lunar base was suddenly unplayable.

Personaly i have a bug where the terrain textures stretch out and makes the planets look like absolute crap. I had this bug with both AMD and Nvidia cards and different windows versions and processors. Did not have this problems before 1.0.

Issues like this get very little to no attention and Squad seems to be focusing their updates on the wrong things and with every update the game gets a little bit more worse.

It used to be the best game on Steam but there are issues and bugs here that would even make Bethesda think twice of releasing the game.

Have had a lot off fun playing Kerbal Space Program more than what I had anticipated. A clever little game, with charming graphics, a easy to grasp tutorial, clean rocket/ship building and the choice of sandbox and career is a huge plus. Also the community is fantastic by far the most supportive and informative on steam in my opinion. May be hard to grasp for young kids but I know I would of loved this game even tho I'm sure I would of not understood half of it. Which also makes it a great basic learning tool to!

Only thing I can think of which is a pain is in the career mode if you run out of money, reputation it's almost impossible to recover making me start a career mode again.

Overall brilliant buy bit will say it's abit steep for £30 maybe wait for a reduction. However I wouldn't of minded paying the extra for the fun I have had playing

I bought Kerbal when it went on sale right before they got to version 0.23 for the grand price of $7. Getting through the bugs to the 0.90 beta release to full release was worth it, and I've put a ton of time into it. With the 1.1 update, the save game files are able to transfer from update to update, so no restarting from the beginning for me anymore. Squad has hired some of the modders to implement their ideas to the game as well. I highly recommend the game if you're on the fence.

I played this game with my son, now he wants to be an austronaunt.
10/10

Seriously, once upon a time if my son would have asked me "Dad, how did people land on the moon" I wouldn't know what to tell him. But today, when my son asked me that question (awww yis!), I simply said -- "I'll show you how", and we fired up the game. I was able, with the help of KSP, to show my son the beauty of trial and error, the difficulty of space travel and just how vast and empty space is, and how small we are. I let him built it himself, parachutes on a moon lander, backwards engines and everything. I remember his look of disbeleif and surprise as our first rocket exploded, the look of awe as we made orbit, his wide eyed gaze as we made our trajectory to the moon and he could actually see just how small earth is and how far we are from the moon. I remember his enthusiasm as we were about to touch down on the moon and we deployed his parachutes. Which didn't work. We crashed. Hard. After the inital shock was over, my son asked in surprise: "Dad why don't parachutes work on the moon?".

Oh man, thank you KSP. Thank you for making science fun!

This game is fantastic, that is all I can say, it can be a little bit glitchy sometimes but it isn't unbearable. Sandbox mode is great and lets you build whatever you want. I've always liked sandbox games, especially this space game!

Bit of a learning curve, I now am going to try and build things in orbit. Haven't got to the moon yet, but put a satellite and a big space station core into orbit.

95/100

Nice job Squad, great devs, just make it run smoother and smoother in future updates!!!

This game is very unique and extremely fun. It is very challenging, but also extremely satisfying when you accomplish something. In addition, it quite expands your knowledge about physics.

There is no other game like this, but in some ways it bears similarities to Dwarf Fortress - both games have sharp learning curve, are extremely difficult beyond the very basics (albeit KSP is pretty forgiving) and the lesson you learn from them is that losing is fun.

KSP simulates physics very well, it includes objects burning when reentering atmosphere, different gravity on various bodies, and the whole solar system is actually simulated (planets and asteroids orbiting Sun, moons orbiting planets), while the game is a sandbox allowing you to do whatever you want. Do you want to fly to the Moon? Sure. Do you want to do research on an asteroid? Sure. Do you want to take that asteroid down to Earth? Sure! (But it's not gonna be easy!)

Oh, and you do actually learn some physics in the game. You have to. This, however, lets you understand space exploration and why is it so difficult and takes so much time. After all, in KSP you get to do a lot of stuff yourself!

The game doesn't have any drawbacks either. Perhaps some rare bugs or crashes, but very few. Other than that, the game is flawless.

It's not just the best space game. It's actually one of the best games ever made. I recommend it to literally everyone. Download a demo to try it out first and fly to the Moon.

This is a great game. It does have a steep learning curve, but it is enjoyable at every step, even with failures you encounter. Those failures make it so much more satisfying when you do succeed in constructing your first successful craft. It is definitely worth the price(and even better if you can get it on discount like I did at 40% off!). It will definitely make you think more creatively(which is has for me at least). Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

There's just something special about getting a rocket to a far off planet and having it return safely home.

Simply floating in the vast emptiness of space on your way TOO a planet, or even just safely oribiting around the Mun is also extremely satisfying, it makes you really understand just how small we are in the seemingly eternal vast landscape of outer space.

Pick this one up if you like building things, failure, rockets, spaaaace, and exploration.
