Game Update May 20th

Membership benefit improvements:

  • Removing the Copper, Silver and Gold tiers and everyone who is a member is treated like they have max-level-Auraxium membership going forward, with all the benefits that entails.
Intra-Facility Missions:
  • Intra-facility missions are dynamically created missions that point you towards the important objectives inside a mission facility based on distance. So, if you're near Cap Point A, your mission will say "Capture A". If you're an Engineer and you're near a destroyed generator, your mission will be "Repair Generator". This system is intended to give new players a better sense of a facility's objectives and some direction on how to find them.
MBT and Harraser Weapon Tuning:
  • Enforcer ML85/Enforcer ML65-H: The Enforcer now has a different reload mechanic, ammo will be reloaded one round at a time and the weapon can be fired at anytime during the reload process.
  • C85 Canister: The C85 Canister now has a different reload mechanic, ammo will be reloaded one round at a time and the weapon can be fired at anytime during the reload process.
  • C85 Canister-H: The C85 Canister-H now has a different reload mechanic, ammo will be reloaded one round at a time and the weapon can be fired at anytime during the reload process. Additionally, the clip size reduced to 8
  • Proton II PPA: PPA COF Recoil reduced to .3 and max COF reduced to 2.25
  • Proton II PPA-H: PPA COF Recoil reduced to .45 and max COF reduced to 2.25
  • Prowler G30 Vulcan: COF reduced to 0.9
  • Saron can aim lower than previously
New Galaxy Defensive Slot Items
  • Vehicle Ammo Dispenser: Resupply ammunition of nearby vehicles
  • Nanite Proximity Repair System: Repair nearby damaged vehicles
Battle Rank Certs Until 15
  • We felt the cert gain rate at low levels was too restrictive for new players trying to grow their characters. With this change, each battle rank achieved through BR 15 now provides 100 free certs to help new players get their characters rolling.
Depot Pricing Changes
  • We’ve made some pretty significant changes to our cert and DBC pricing across the Depot. The vast majority of DBC prices will be dropping, some only slightly, but in many cases pretty significantly. There is one noteworthy exception, and that’s NS weapons that are available to all factions on purchase – those are going up slightly to account for the extra value they bring to the table. We also updated many of our cert prices to account for the two years we've let them go unattended – and this meant that in addition to many prices going down, or staying the same, cert prices increased for a number of weapons as well. To give some context and hopefully alleviate some fears, our updated weapon cert prices range from 200-1000 certs, so there’s no drastic departure on that front.
Vehicle Optics
  • Zoom optics can now be purchased independently
  • Vehicle optics can now also be purchased with DBC
  • Vehicle optics will be removed from loadouts and the certs spent to unlock refunded. You will need to repurchase them .
Spawning Adjustments
  • [FONT=Arial] You can no longer spawn at a base that is not connected to your warp gate via lattice unless you die in that base’s region; the idea here is to add more strategic importance to territory and logistics
Misc
  • Changes have been made to how we track awareness in an effort to fix issues where you can take damage from a player you cannot see.
  • The tank mine now has a unique trigger sound
  • [FONT=Arial] Pass on all of the icons and text in the HUD, Map, and Minimap to make them more readable and well, iconic. We've also changed the settings for things like when HUD icons get pinned to the side of your screen and the distance at which the opacity changes.

  • Speculative fix for the vehicle ejection seat bug
  • Updated Interceptor Windshield and Bumper for Harasser
  • Added grime overlay to Harrasser
  • Fixed Neutron armor to LOD farther out

Coming Soon in the May Update...

Hey everyone! We've got an update brewing for next week that we wanted to tell you guys about. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Intra-Facility Missions
Intra-facility missions are dynamically created missions that point you towards the important objectives inside a facility based on distance. The current membership system with Copper, Silver, Gold, etc, tiers of membership is pretty clunky and unintuitive. With how complicated it was to explain and surface all the information needed for it to make sense, it ended up feeling counterproductive. With that said, we’re taking out all those extra tiers – everyone who is a member is treated like they have max-level-Auraxium membership going forward, with all the benefits that entails.

Pricing Changes
We’re making some pretty significant changes to our cert and DBC pricing across the Depot. The vast majority of DBC prices will be dropping, some only slightly, but in many cases pretty significantly. There is one noteworthy exception, and that’s NS weapons that are available to all factions on purchase – those are going up slightly to account for the extra value they bring to the table.

We also updated many of our cert prices to account for the two years we've let them go unattended – and this meant that in addition to many prices going down, or staying the same, cert prices increased for a number of weapons as well. To give some context and hopefully alleviate some fears, our updated weapon cert prices range from 200-1000 certs, so there’s no drastic departure on that front.

We understand there might be some concern at the notion of any prices going up, but we hope that once everyone gets to see the entirety of the pricing changes first hand, the net reaction will be a positive one.

Battle Rank Certs Until 15

We are doing this on PC and PS4 for a couple reasons:

  • A lot of the overhead text was pretty unreadable in certain lighting
  • The brackets around many of the icons on the minimap used up precious pixels
  • Most of the outlines and glows on text means you really have to squint to read it

High Profile Bug Fixes
  • The Vehicle Ejection Bug: One day we will be able to finally eradicate this bug in a cleansing flame… and hopefully that day is the day of this update. We have a speculative fix for the infamous vehicle ejection bug that sends you flying into the stratosphere.Please cross your fingers and continue to report this if you see it.
  • Awareness changes: It is now less likely that you are rendered by/visible to players that aren’t being rendered for you.
Other Changes

Galaxy Repair and Ammo: The Galaxy has new defense slot options, Vehicle Ammo Dispenser and Nanite Proximity Repair System.
  • Vehicle Ammo Dispenser: Resupply ammunition of nearby vehicles
  • Nanite Proximity Repair System: Repair nearby damaged vehicles
MBT Updates
  • New Conglomerate
    • Enforcer ML85/Enforcer ML65-H: The Enforcer now has a continuous reload mechanic, ammo will be reloaded one round at a time and the weapon can be fired at anytime during the reload process.
    • C85 Canister: The C85 Canister now has a continuous reload mechanic, ammo will be reloaded one round at a time and the weapon can be fired at anytime during the reload process.

  • Vanu Sovereignty
    • Proton II PPA: PPA max COF has been reduced from 0.6 to 0.3 and COF Recoil has been reduced from 0.6 to 0.3
    • Proton II PPA-H: PPA max COF has been reduced from 3 to 2.25 and COF Recoil has been reduced from 0.6 to 0.45
    • Saron HRB down pitch angle limit has been improved by 10 degrees
  • Terran Republic
    • Prowler G30 Vulcan: The Prowler version of the Vulcan COF reduced from 1.1 to 0.9
  • The visual effect of Vehicle night vision has been improved
  • Aegis shield should now block AOE damage more accurately
  • Vehicle zoom optics can now be purchased individually, optics have been reset and their certs refunded
  • Due to a lack of being awesome, the Decoy grenade is being removed from game and certs spent on it refunded. If we can find a way to make it awesome, we’ll look at adding it back in.
That’s it for now! We understand we may not have hit every issue/bug you've brought up recently, but we’ll continue to hammer away at these while working on new content. We look forward to your thoughts!

Hossin is a massive new map that will introduce an entirely new type of battle experience to PlanetSide 2.     - Combat Medic – Keep your fellow soldiers healed- it’s your job to revive fallen comrades.
    - Infiltrator – Stealthy and silent, you are death from the shadows. Whether you choose a knife from behind or a single shot from sniper’s nest, you are the enemy’s greatest fear.
    - Engineer – A crucial support class with the ability to repair important gear including vehicles, terminals, and turrets. Engineers can drop their own shielded turret and mow down advancing troops.
    - MAX – Heavily armored, cannons for hands, and a disposition to match, you are the ruler of the battlefield and a walking mass of armored death.

  • OUTFIT TEAMWORK: Outfits play a very important role in each and every battle. From a small group of specialized soldiers or rapid response team, to a huge clan that can field multiple platoons of hundreds of players, outfits have access to unique customizations– allowing them to create their own identity and manage their reputation and overall role in the ongoing war.
  • VEHICLES & WEAPONS: Players are able to access a huge array of weapons and vehicles which can be extensively customized for player preference or purposed with unique attachments and add-ons earned in game to fit each player’s style.

Got a new PC just to play this.

Loggin in, spawing at warpgate- OMG this is awsome. Transport ships, Galaxy gunships, tanks, bunch of people. Get in to a transport ship. Take of. This feels almost like the beginning of "Black Hawk Down". Enjoying the beatutiful sceenery of snow and gigant black icicles when BAM. Rank 8 pilot just rammed a cliff and killed us all....

Get to the respawn screen and see a "Join squad". Press it and then "Squad spawn". Get transported to Indar. But I loved the snow :(. Spawed under a house thing next to a big globe thing. Looks important. Everywhere explosions, screams of suffering and gore. Take a wallless lift to the platform on the globe. Its like the D-Day all over. Everyone pinned down behind steel walls and trying to get throu narrow gap in the globe. See "Monty Pyhton" laying dead next to me. Ohh right, Im a medic. Revive him just to die with him the next moment.

Half an hour and 200 deaths later I conclude- running blindly inside the gap of the important looking globe thing isnt a good idea.

SPOILER ALERT














Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups milk, at room temperature
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more as needed


Now to make it
1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
2. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the milk and vanilla.
3. Melt the butter in a large cast iron skillet or griddle over medium heat.
4. Whisk the butter into the milk mixture. Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture, and whisk until a thick batter is just formed
5. Keeping the skillet at medium heat, ladle about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet, to make a pancake. Make 1 or 2 more pancakes, taking care to keep them evenly spaced apart. Cook, until bubbles break the surface of the pancakes, and the undersides are golden brown, about 2 minutes. Flip with a spatula and cook about 1 minute more on the second side. Serve immediately or transfer to a platter and cover loosely with foil to keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
6. Procedure for adding fruit to pancakes: Once the bubbles break the surface of the pancakes, scatter the surface with sliced or diced fruit, or chocolate chips, nuts, etc. Flip with a spatula and cook for 1 minute more, being careful not to burn toppings

i'm a 2xBR100 with 5k~ hours spent ingame from Cobalt (EU server).

pros:

- has massive potential of being the biggest & best TDM game ever (dynamic TDM with strategy elements, where hexes/bases are basically arenas).

- nothing like it out there.

- surprisingly fun infantry gunplay and deep class builds.

- easy to use yet thrilling vehicular play (when not just farming infantry like a ♥♥♥).

- 25-48 vs. 25-48s are some of the best gaming moments you'll experience. so are wins against the odds with your outfit mates.

- game looks suprisingly beautiful considering what it's trying to accomplish.

cons:

- p2w elements introduced lately in the form of Implants that drain energy rapidly, and energy chargers rarely dropping to maintain energy. widens the gap between the new player or the average non-paying customer and the old player (with a lot of certs laying around) or paying customer, and gives a nice small advantage on the tier 4s.

- client performance has been on a decline since performance update 01. it's been pretty terrible as of late, after code merge with ps4 version.

- server performance has been terrible/unplayable the past year. especially for EU players (having better connectivity, hit detection to NA servers, instead of home server on EU). the devs know about it, but just can't get their ♥♥♥♥ together, either because they stopped caring about the PC version, or they just don't have the experience to solve this.

- content/experience is player driven and since the community is lazy/stupid & there are no rules/restrictions to ensure quality, the fights are mostly unbalanced/one-sided/boring. a majority of the community either farms base captures (96+ vs. 2 guys in a spawn room, yey) or farms kills (mostly in vehicles/maxes or heavy assault) while not playing for any objective.

- new player experience is still one of the worst in gaming history. tutorial is very slim and doesn't really cover some important stuff. you drop to the biggest fights on the continent ang get slaughtered over and over again. all your support tools are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ly slow, and your can't get attachments for your weapons for a very long time. after all that, you end up in a platoon ran by a bad/lazy leader who teaches you the wonders of zerging like a stupid sheep, and than end up in a bad outfit that does it on a daily basis with an array of bad/lazy leaders. you also use a shotgun or a max suit everytime you can, cause why not.. and get used to completely playing the game on easy mode. and that's a the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ community expands and kills any competitiveness or fun you could have in this game.

- dev team size has been cut hard or shifted to ps4/xbox1, and as a result new content is rarely released, or released in a broken "phase 1" state, and left like that for a LONG period. (we still didn't get any phase 2 to any of the phase 1s that currently ruin the game [like the resource system phase 1]).

- weapon/class balance is terrible and the devs are generally out of touch/base their tweaks on spreadsheets, micro sales or forum/reddit outcries.

- bugs, bugs, bugs, some still existing ever since beta. every patch creates more bugs.

- game's netcode is clientside based, making the game pretty iffy for competitive play, where you die behind walls or can exploit packet loss to your advantage (therum style). the devs support the community with a competitive server you can scrim on (jaeger) doe.

- base design is bad and boring for the most part. recycled assets everywhere makes for a very repeatitive feel to the game.

- the game's engine can't handle big 96/+ v 96/+ fights. infantry starts to not render at normal ranges. mainly a problem for vehicle players.

Well I did like this game, i loved it. I bought station cash and got some bling and unlocked some nice items. Played for 900 odd hours unlocking many cool weapons etc.
Then out of the blue I get a permanent ban for "cheating".
I have never ever cheated, I fought hard never minding if I lost as long as I made a good show. So to be accused of cheating and banned was upsetting to say the least.
They refused to reveal "what happened" in case I might use that to avoid detection next time.
They did not review this decision, all my gear is now lost and I would could not in good faith ever recommend anyone invest money in to this company if that is how they treat customers.
A real shame, it was fun until this

Planetside 2 is a game with aquired taste. If you like large scale war and fiece fps battles, youll enjoy it. The problem with planetside is that it is, technically a huge piece of ♥♥♥♥. For over 2 years this game has sat without optimization. It runs pretty smoothly but i must stay, if you do not have a moderatly powerful machine, you wont be able to enjoy planetside. The game is so taxing on CPU's its almost criminal! XD But overall the game is solid and worth your time if you have the tech :)

Planetside 2. Where to start... There is absolutely no game on the market that allows for massive battles of attrition.

I once looked at games such as Battlefield 3/4 for the PC as massive. They can support up to 64 players total, that's amazing, right?!

As soon as I stumbled upon Planetside 2, I was absolutely mesmerized. Participating in battles that have over 100 soldiers on each side is quite the sight to behold, it is quite an experience unlike none other.

The feeling of the success of a well-coordinated attack, or a well-coordinated defense against an enemy that outnumbers you, is pure ecstasy.

After playing for over 1,700 hours, I can safely say that this is one of the absolute best first-person shooters that takes warfare to a monumental scale.

I definitely recommend this game to the FPS enthusiast, or simply anyone in search of an unforgettable experience.
