Hello Survivor, and welcome to the Project Zomboid Early Access launch!

We’re a game that’s in heavy active development, so when we were considering our appearance on Steam Early Access we thought it vital that we provide potential buyers with as much information as possible about the current state of our game.

Sometimes with alpha funded games people don’t know what they’re jumping into until they’ve bought the game, and annoying compatibility issues can spring from the woodwork after download.

To do our best to avoid this we’re launching with a playable demo you can try out first – in which a pre-made character’s fate is already sealed by a zombie bite. It’s our way of making sure that you’ll be satisfied with your purchase, and so you can be sure that a game in alpha (that’s due some extra optimization work in future) runs at an acceptable lick on your machine if it’s of a lower spec.

To double down on this over the coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday (8-10 November) we will be co-ordinating livestreams with many of our existing players and streamers. Our hope is that we’ll have as close to uninterrupted coverage of the game as possible, with hosts and (time permitting) developers available to answer your questions.

If there’s no available livestream, or if you’d prefer it, then you can also check out some of our regular YouTubers’ guides and opinions on the game. (We specifically asked this lot to cover both the pros and cons of our game and its development, but it goes without saying that they already enjoy playing it!)

We've added trading cards, emoticons, backgrounds and all that good stuff. Get collecting survivors!

We also have a version in testing that we hope we can release in the next day or two, that finally unifies Single and Multi, and has a whole ton of fixes, so keep your eyes open for that!

Project Zomboid Online Multiplayer public beta available!

Just a heads up to say that we have finally released the first version of PZ online, so far capable of 32 players on persistent player run servers.

Project Zomboid is an open-ended zombie-infested sandbox. It asks one simple question – how will you die?

In the towns of Muldraugh and West Point, survivors must loot houses, build defences and do their utmost to delay their inevitable death day by day. No help is coming – your continued survival relies on your own cunning, luck and ability to evade a relentless horde.

Current features:


  • Sandbox zombie survival game.
  • Full line of sight system and real-time lighting, sound and visibility mechanics. Hide in the shadows, keep quiet and keep the lights off at night, or at least hang sheets over the windows.
  • Vast and growing map (loosely based on a real world location) for you to explore, loot and set up your fortress. Check out Blindcoder’s map project: http://pzmap.crash-override.net/
  • Use tools and items to craft weapons, barricade and cook. You can even build zombie proof forts by chopping trees, sawing wood and scavenging supplies.
  • Deal with depression, boredom, hunger, thirst and illness while trying to survive.
  • Day turns to night. The electricity falters. Hordes migrate. Winter draws in. Society is in freefall.
  • Farming, carpentry, character customization, skills and perks that develop based on what you do in-game.
  • Hundreds of zombies with swarm mechanics and in-depth visual and hearing systems.
  • Proper zombies that don’t run. (Unless you tell them to in the sandbox menu).
  • A ton of amazing atmospheric music tracks by the prodigy that is Zach Beever.
  • Instant action ‘Last Stand’ mode, on top of our Sandbox and Survival
  • Full, open and powerful Lua modding support.
  • Online multiplayer survival with persistent player run servers. "This is the story of how you died"

Project Zomboid is one of the few Zombie survival games that actually tries to have everything loved from the genre. Crafting, cooking and farming. Barricade windows and doors, build a safe house and scavenge supplies to stay alive.

Using the skills to build and cook or fight will allow you to become better at them, so there is some character progression.

Also let's not forget the awesome music in this game. Highly reccomended!

If I had to compare it to any games I would say it is like the sims+ Don't starve+ night of the living dead.
Future plans are in place to add npc's other than zombies and polish to the engine and graphics.
It really is quite addicting and a great early access title to get your hands on. Especially if you liked state of decay and wanted a little more. Also word going around that a story campaign will be put in as well.

With amazing details like food degradation and injury/ illness/ exposure to cold and heat/ mood debuffs/ weapon durability/ character encumberance/ sound and light attraction of the zombies this game can be a nice challenge on the nice open maps.
It isn't an FPS but it plays great and has similar controls to an FPS.

Just remember this is Early Access and there are some bugs and such. As it stands the game is very much in a good playable state and well worth the money. Hearing about the coming changes to this title, I am even more stoked about this particular purchase.

Długo się zastanawiałem jak najlepiej określić tą produkcję niezależnego studia....

Długo, a może za długo, ale do rzeczy.

W ręce osób, które zakupią tą grę otrzymają wciąż (nadal jest ona usprawniana) aktualizowany produkt w dość starszej grafice, oryginalny RPG akcji pozwalający nam na własnej skórze przekonać się co zrobić, gdy wybuchnie epidemia zombie. Jako jeden z niewielu ocalałych z kataklizmu nasz bohater ma tylko jedno zadanie – przetrwać jak najdłużej.

Więc zbieramy wszystko co może nam pomóc w przetrwaniu: konserwy, książki, gazety, lekarstwa, ciuchy, torby itp.... I szukamy dobrego miescja na osiedlenie się....
Czy wybierzemy zaludnione miejsce czy bardziej ustronne miejsce??
Decyzja do gracza: ale jedno trzeba zapamiętać - wybierajcie miejsce dobrze zasłonięte oraz z dostępem do wody.

Umieram zazwyczaj pierwszego dnia, ale i tak jest najlepszym symulatorem przetrwania apokalipsy zombie :D (DayZ jest lepsze tylko dlatego że jest multiplayer)

Gra ma niesamowity potencjał. Osobiście uważam, że lepszego symulatoru apokalipsy zombie nie można znaleźć. Jedyne minusy to brak multiplayera (jeszcze) i strasznie wolny progress całego projektu. Gra warta swojej ceny.

Gra polega na przetrwaniu w dwuwymiarowym świecie, w którym panują nieumarli.
Na samym początku nasza postać rodzi się w losowym miejscu bez żadnego ekwipunku - żeby go zdobyć, musimy eksplorować świat.
Do zebrania dostępne są przeróżne przedmioty - od kartek papieru po strzelby.
