In each world, you have a different power to affect the way time behaves, and it is time's strangeness that creates the puzzles. The time behaviors include: the ability to rewind, objects that are immune to being rewound, time that is tied to space, parallel realities, time dilation, and perhaps more.
Braid treats your time and attention as precious; there is no filler in this game. Every puzzle shows you something new and interesting about the game world.

パズル要素のある似たような類のゲームを悉く積んでいたのですが、このゲームは何とかクリアできました。難しいかと言えば難しいのですが、粘れば誰でもノーヒントでクリアできるであろう良い仕組みのゲームでした。あと、こういった仕組みなだけあって、仕掛けが解けた時の達成感が本当に気持ちいいです。自分は天才かもしれないとすら思えるので天狗になりやすい方は要注意です。最後の最後で誘惑に負けて「ヒントだけでも」と思い検索エンジンを利用してしまったのですが、何故かヒントではなく「脳筋でもクリアできたので攻略動画とか見る奴は間違いなくオカマ」と書かれたブログが出てきたおかげでなんとか頑張れました。本当にありがとうございます。(決してオカマを馬鹿にしているわけではないです。)

特徴をまず一つ挙げるのならばパズルに用いられている仕掛けが非常に多彩です。基本的な操作技術として時間を巻き戻して失敗をやり直すことも出来れば、巻き戻しの影響を受けないものを利用したり、時間を巻き戻してやり直す以前の自分の行動を利用したり、一ヶ所だけ時間の流れを遅くしたりなど、様々な仕組みが楽しめます。また、同じ理屈で解ける仕掛けが二つとないらしいので飽きることなく楽しめますね。個人的には第4面の「時間と場所が連動する仕掛け」をお勧めしたいです。言葉ではハッキリとしたイメージが湧かないと思うので、自身の手でその仕掛けを味わって貰えると、その「ヤバさ」、分かって頂けると思います!!

何よりも、人に勧めるにあたって一番強調したいのがストーリー性です。一見すると前述のような特殊な仕掛けばかりが特徴でストーリーもへったくれもなさそうに見えますが、最後まで遊んでみるとストーリーの強烈さが一番印象に残ります。最初の時点では、さらわれたプリンセスを助けに行くという、勇者を主人公とするかのようなストーリーみたく見えますが、それにしては主人公の見た目がそれっぽくなかったり(しかも若干ながら野々村真に似ている)、最初に通過するステージがよく見ると何故か「ワールド2」だったり、気付くと不思議な点が多いです。そのような中でいまいちハッキリとしないストーリーが最後になって段々と鮮明な形を映し出していき、主人公が助け出そうとしていた「プリンセス」の正体も我々をハッとさせるような形で見えてきます。最後のステージである「ワールド1」、ここの展開が何よりも衝撃的なので、どうか見て驚いて頂きたいです。ゲーム全体を通して時間の流れが関わってくる特殊な仕掛けも、実はストーリーと密接な繋がりを持っている、この点は特に凄いと思います。また、レビューのトップに某考察記事から多大な影響を受けていると思われるものがあるのですが、出典も含めて、こういったものは全てクリアしてから読むと色々気付かされるものがあります。

自分が正しいと思ってやってきたことが、時に大きな間違いとなってしまうこと。時を戻すかのように試行錯誤することはあっても、そういった大きな間違いは一度犯すと絶対に取り返しがつかないということ。そして、そういった大きな間違いを犯してしまった時、どうすればいいのか。そういった事々を暗に示してくれているゲームだと思います。年越しにクリアしてしまったので、このゲームに教えてもらったことを新年の抱負にしていこうと思っています。

名実ともに絶対的な名作だと思うのですが、50人以上いるフレンドの中でこれを遊んだ人が誰一人といません。どうかみんなにはこういったゲームの面白さに気付いて頂きたい!!純、気付いてくれ!!

Sometimes, when watching a film or reading a novel, you feel a burn of emotion deep inside your chest. Something that affects you so profoundly that it moves beyond being just a form of media. It is internalized and remembered forever.

Braid is one of those things. But it isn't just an example of art in gaming, it's a game full of pure genius as well.

The game, at first, comes off as a platformer. There are relatively little instances of hardcore platforming in the game, and they usually only serve as a medium to allow you to interact with the puzzle that you're dealing with. Make no mistake, this is a puzzle game at heart.

The puzzles here are incredibly good, and very well scaled from level to level. The first two levels are relatively easy and will only take you a few minutes, the third is a bit harder, and the last puzzles will make you feel like your brain is deflated. The amount of time that you'll have to put into each puzzle may be debilitating for some, but the sheer joy and pleasure of solving one overcomes any sense of stress that staring at your screen racking your brain may cause. These aren't just run of the mill puzzles, either. There are a number that are, in my mind, some of the best puzzles that I've ever seen in a game.

The art direction is beautiful. The backgrounds are watercolor constructed, they're vibrant and bright, and dark and brooding. The soundtrack is perfectly placed and flooded with beautiful violin work. Each are augmented by an incredibly written preface that comes prior to starting each level. The story is written so broadly and so metaphorically that it can literally be translated to represent whatever the player would like it to. The ending represents one of the epic twists in video game history, and does so in game -- a puzzle in itself.

I literally cannot think of one thing that I dislike about this game. It could be longer, but length can't really be expected from a game that costs so little.

There is so much value stuffed into the 10ish hours that you'll spend playing this game, it's hard to put it into words any other way than just to spout off the cliche of "buy it and experience it yourself". It's an experience to be had, and it's one of the most artistically beautiful exhibits in gaming history that is guaranteed to affect you in a most profound way.

One of the most acclaimed puzzle-platformers, Braid led the first generation of mainstream indie games. Its level and puzzle design are nearly flawless as they instruct the player in each world's time altering mechanics while also providing compelling challenge. Most of Braid can be played non linearly, so if you get stuck you can try another level and maybe later come back with new ideas to the one you left. It's still beatiful though it has aged a bit. I'd appreciate a hint system but I respect Jonathan Blow not wanting to compromise his design vision. The story has multiple layers of meaning though you'll have to finish the game to see the whole picture understand it in restropect.

What if you could go back in time and undo a mistake?

What if you are the mistake?



Braid belongs on a list of top games of all time. It is a work of art.

If you have not played Braid yet, I would ask you to stop what you are doing right now and buy it.

Being a puzzle platformer, Braid has excellent and unique art, music, concept, and story. The simple platformer type works well on both PC and consoles.

My one critique is that the ending is somewhat unfulfiling in that the designer got all artsy-fartsy and left the meaning open to wild interpretation. Either he just didn't have a moral to tell at the end, or he went with the "bluster them with bulls**t" strategy, and I'm thinking it was the latter.

But, even if you don't care about the background story and getting all deep into the meaning of it all, the puzzles should entertain.

Braid is an interesting platformer which seems to be both homage to and parody of earlier platformers, and adds the extra dimension of being able to manipulate time in several different ways (not just rewind). The art is pretty and its story is a fairly raw exposure of the thoughts and feelings of the developer as you (and every other person) grapple with both wanting to move forward and turn back the clock in your life and in your relationships. Instead of distracting, this enhances the gameplay and gives you a rare connection with the developer beyond the mechanics of playing the game.

Braid is another one of those great mixed genres platform/puzzle. The puzzles are most based on timing or time. Sometimes you can clone yourself, sometimes you can slow time down and other times you can make time go in reverse or forward. This is very well implemented in the puzzle solving portion of this game and this makes it one of the best of its kind. A memorable game that will go down in history.

Braid is a puzzle-platformer with a twist: the ability to manipulate time, which is used in various ways to advance through the nicely designed levels. I suppose the best way to describe it is „Super Mario meets Prince Of Persia“, which is a great concept.

Excellent puzzle platformer with plenty of "ah-ha!" moments, wrapped in a pleasant but curious environment which plays with one's visual and auditory senses. Coupled with this is an interesting "undo" mechanic, ensuring one never stays dead for long and inevitably discovers that (gladly) the princess is in another castle.

Its hard to describe this game without overusing the word "beautiful"; Braid is in my top 10 favourite games of all times and its definitely my favourite indie game.

Everything in the game seem to be an artwork: the music, the background, the puzzles, the storyline, sound effects, mechanics... its involving, gets you deep in the story if you try to follow it. Its challenging enough to get you thinking, but once you think, you get it. The puzzles are not long, everything you need to know is *there* (well, except for one single specific puzzle but that ain't a dealbreaker I assure you) and rarely rely on dexterity (unless you're interested in speed runs).

The story is fantastic and got me thinking a while, but there is a "k00l secret ending l33t for science" which I didn't find cool at all. Basically, the first immediate one is a love story and the second one... its more about work and science (no spoilers shall be given), really, and it ain't all that beautiful. That's my only complaint about the game: the regular ending leaves some things in the air that only make sense in the pr0-tröö-g4m3r secret one, but the regular ending sounded way more appealing to me, and I wish the developer would have exploited more the vanilla one.

If you like achievement hunting there isn't much challenge in this one here, except for the speed run achievement, which might need some practice but its not overfrustrating.

Braid is a fun game that is fairly quick, but not too short that it's a blur. I had a lot of fun with it. The puzzles are pretty difficult, but I managed to figure most of them out! I'd recommend it if you like Puzzle platformers!

This game is beautiful and the puzzles are amazingly complex. They oftentimes require a very advanced move that may not even be viewed as possible at first. The art style keeps you going, and the level design makes it so that you can skip the hard puzzles and not get puzzle pieces but it will allow you to move on to the next area easily. This allows a hard puzzle not to ruin the game for you. However, if you're not ready for the challenge then the game may be a frustrating showcase of puzzles you are too unintelligent to solve.

Overall a Decent game, Especially for the price, however the game does have it's flaws.

Pros:
-Interesting Art Style
-Smooth Controls
-Interesting Puzzle Concepts
Cons:
-To complete the story requires you to get all the puzzle peices,
some of which are best left to a guide to explain how you get them.
-Vsync was bugged the second time I loaded the game, It made the game play at ~24 fps

Regardless of flaws it is definitely a game worth playing, just Expect to look at a guide to actually
finish the game.

Braid is best described as a few hours of the best puzzles I have ever encountered in a video game, expressed in a gorgeous hand-drawn 2D world, with an instrumental soundtrack that sounds wonderful both forwards and backwards.

The game was designed, coded, and funded by one person, Jonathan Blow, who seems determined to uproot every cliché in the game industry.

If you like quick common-sense puzzles in video games (e.g., Half-Life 2, God of War, Uncharted, Metroid Prime, Shadow of the Colossus, The Legend of Zelda), you must purchase and play through all of Braid. Every puzzle you solve requires you to question our day-to-day view of time and space, without the painful formality of a high-school physics class.

The only two weaknesses of the game are its short length and difficult story. Given the extraordinary density of inventive design in the game, its relative brevity is easily forgiven. As for the story, if you enjoyed games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and BioShock: Infinite, you will find Braid's plot rewarding, though it might take some thinking to earn the rewards. Just don't expect to like the plot without effort.

If Braid is the start of Jonathan Blow's visionary quest to enrich game design, I can't wait to see what's next!
