“It's not the fact that The Stanley Parable makes you think about the nature of choice in games that makes it extraordinary. It's the fact that it does so while simultaneously managing to be a wildly entertaining, hilarious, and surprising experience.”
9/10 - Gamespot

“It's this bouncing between serious tone and irreverence that makes The Stanley Parable so special. You never know what to expect."
10/10 - Joystiq

“Where so many games that aspire to be more than games end up less than any form of art, Stanley Parable strives, and then succeeds.”
10/10 - Destructoid

“Astoundingly labyrinthine onion-like layers of narrative tangents the player can embark on in what feels like the unholy interactive offspring of Inception, Being John Malkovich and Portal.”

關於此遊戲

The Stanley Parable is a first person exploration game. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will follow a story, you will not follow a story. You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. This world was not made for you to understand.

But as you explore, slowly, zippity zop begins to arise, the paradoxes might start to make sense, perhaps you are powerful after all. The game is not here to fight you; it is inviting you to dance.

Based on the award-winning 2011 Source mod of the same name, The Stanley Parable returns with new content, new ideas, a fresh coat of visual paint, and the stunning voicework of Kevan Brighting. I can't believe a game as simple as this could be so deep, so intriguing, so entertaining. I have been so caught up in it. Without spoilers, I can say that there is some smart commentary on society today, and the choices we make. Beautifully written, and not pushy in their agenda.

I recommend this.

I love the humor of this game. Its very short but also very long depending on how many outcome you'd like to see. A lot of fun and an interesting game to bring in new people to try. I'd buy it again.

Great Game. Too Short. Not worth 15$. Maybe 5-10. Only got 2 hours of gameplay out of it.

It's a cool new aspect and it's very interesting, though I believe it should be a bit cheaper for how much it brings to the table. It's very entertaining, has cool references, and is over all fun, but I'd say only pick it up during sales.

Have you ever wondered what a choose your own adventure about a choose your own adventure was? That is pretty much what this game is. It is hard to convey what this game is, so I reccomend downloading the demo, even if you already own it, as it is a demo about playing a demo about the Stanley Parable.

BEST GAME OF 2015
I love this game with a passion, its funny Narrator, amazing replayability and absence of the fourth wall make it awesome.
First off, the dialouge is hilarious, the Narrator has personality and is really funny.
Secondly, the replayability make what would be a simple game into a real adventure.
Thirdly, the break the fourth wall ALL THE TIME to make i even finnier.
And lastly, the game holds a mystery the first time you play through it, making you want to play it again and again and find out what's REALLY going on in Stanley's office building. I suggest this gamre SO VERY MUCH.

One of the most brilliant commentaries on artistic expression and consumption ever executed.

'The Stanley Parable' explores the full spectrum of autorial intent pitted against the audience's experience.
It's hilarious, tragic, morose, ponderous, abstract, condescending, liberating, and (despite the claim of having "multiple endings") has the disturbing attribute of contuining on and on for all eternity.

The end is never the end is never the end is never the end

I was recently talking with a friend about how we hate games that call themselves "games" but are really just stories with no true interaction. "Games" where the designer just wanted to tell a story and occasionally has the player click something to move the story along but the player's actions never actually mean anything. The Stanley Parable is very much NOT that sort of game. It has some legitimately profound things to say about narration and choice in games and storytelling, but it never comes off as pretentious. But I can't really say much else, because I don't want to spoil it. I normally hate vague reviews that tell you "just play it, I don't want to spoil it!" but... it's true. Trust me. Or don't trust me, since I'm an idiot that unironically enjoys Goat Simulator. Whatever.

The Stanley Parable:

This game is a fantastic adventure which will make you think, question and laugh. It follows a character named Stanley, who sits in his office pushing buttons at the command of a computer program. One day he realises that the orders have stopped coming. Consequently, he ventures outside his office to find out why. He notices all his co-workers have mysteriously disappeared, which seems suspicious. What unfolds after this point is entirely up to you and your choices.

Positives:

+ Funny, witty and entertaining narrator who explains the "story" in third person. I really enjoyed this. I use story in quotes because there are multiple plotlines which contradict themselves depending on the decisions you make. It's up to you to decide what's real, what isn't and what exactly is happening in the Stanley Parable. That's part of the charm and uniqueness the Stanley Parable offers. It's thought provoking and maintains your interest.

Negatives:

- Basic graphics.
- Short game, probably around 6-8 hours for all endings and most achievements.

Overall Score: 8/10

I purchased the Stanley Parable for around $2.50 on sale and it was definitely worth it. Wait for a price slash and buy, you won't be disappointed.

Clever and witty. Play time is anywhere from 3 minutes to hours. It is a thin story with numerous branches to follow on subsequent playthroughs.

The basic theme comes across like Hitchicker's Guide to the Galaxy, with a fun narrator and amusing circumstances. I can see a few of the references getting dated, before too long, but overall it is a very good little game.

This is a review of a story about Stanley.

The story has a simple start: Stanley finds himself in Room 427 and at the desk for Employee #427. But then, something feels amiss when no orders arrive on his monitor. While Stanley could very well close the door and meekly continue waiting, he also felt a compelling force directing him outside. Out through the door of Room 427 and out into the unknown, that is where the exciting story can begin.

When it does, the writing will leave you breathless. Oh, the twists and the turns of the plot, how they'll dazzle you. And let us not forget the witty commentary, the emotion-packed drama, the suspenseful sequences, and the mind-blowing revelations! A perfect example of everything thus described can be seen when...

Oh dear, I can't just tell you what happens. That would ruin the surprise of the story, and the story is the best part of The Stanley Parable. I can't just spill all the juicy details in a review like an ill-thought-out movie trailer. Why, it'd be like telling you about how Sasuke kills Dumbledore in that upcoming secret Harry Potter/Naruto crossover movie, or showing you that scene where Donald Duck is turned to the dark side by Sith Lord Deadpool in Kingdom Hearts VII. It would completely ruin the emotional impact when you finally experience the plot yourself, so it's a good thing I didn't spoil anything.

However, the question remains... how to convince you of the excellence inherent in The Stanley Parable when describing any part of its plot would ruin the experience for you. After all, it's not like you haven't already prowled around for trailers of the Stanley Parable, possibly located in a convenient central area where a collection of highly insightful and deeply moving trailers are gathered for perusal at one's leisure. Certainly, you wouldn't be here at all if you had listened to The Stanley Parable's inspirational and masterfully orchestrated music, or wisely sought out the opinions of professional reviewers. Of course not, witnessing any of the things I had just described would have instantly led you to the logical decision of buying The Stanley Parable and playing it to your heart's content like a sensible human being.

Unless... ah, I see what you're doing. You're being savvy. "Not so fast game developers," You doubtless say to yourself every morning. "I don't buy based on irrational impulses. Much like the wise tortoises of yore, I too slowly and carefully consider various criteria before choosing which game I want to purchase."

Well, there's not much else I can say, now is there? No, not with your stony aloof countenance, like a lonely game-avoiding statue upon a cliff, looking down upon a roiling decadent sea of electronic entertainment. Will nothing sway your cold soul? Will no entreaty convince you to let The Stanley Parable past your defenses and into your heart? Surely there must be one last thing that could tip the scales. Informative pamphlets? Videos of baby animals pretending to be Stanley? A comprehensive demonstration model of The Stanley Parable that accurately and effectively conveys The Stanley Parable experience? If only there was just one last thing!

But then again, ifs are for the Stanleys of this world; "If I only did this" or "Perhaps I should have done that". Minds perpetually rewinding themselves over the most minor branching paths, wondering and hypothesizing over what could have been and how it could have been. Not trapped like rats in a maze because at least rats can still choose and move to some degree, but trapped like slinkies falling down the stairs. Always moving downwards and never in control, only capable of waiting for that last step and that final abrupt stop.

Thank goodness we're not like that, hm? We choose where we go and what we do. In The Stanley Parable and in life, We are in control. We are not trapped.

Are we?

Fun indie game. Don't expect to play this game for hours long. Although it's fun to replay because there are a lot of different choices to make. Love the narrator voice and has good achievements (Except 'Commitment'). I'd give it a 7/10.
