O que os desenvolvedores têm a dizer:

Porquê Acesso Antecipado?

“As a small team, Early Access is a great way for us to... well... get the game into your hands early! We'll be able to get important gameplay feedback to make sure it's as fun as it can be, and at the same time polish any rough edges, add much more content, and get the game ready for final launch!”

Aproximadamente durante quanto tempo vai este jogo estar em Acesso Antecipado?

“It will be in Early Access until we're ready to release it. We're anticipating at least a few months.”

Qual vai ser a diferença entre a versão final e a versão de Acesso Antecipado?

“The full version will have much more content, more skills, additional missions, new monsters, etc. We also expect to get further feedback during Early Access that will help us determine what you want to see in the final game.”

Qual é o estado atual da versão de Acesso Antecipado?

“Intel HD Graphics - NOT SUPPORTED
Single-player mode is not yet available in Early Access, but will be added for the final launch.

Stability and bugs: There are some rough edges and the game may crash on occasion. However, it's already very playable thanks to early alpha testing, and we're absolutely looking for your feedback to make sure it's as good as it can be. We're very passionate and will be online pretty much 24/7 to gather any concerns or bug reports you have, in order to fix the problems and update the game as quickly as possible.

Gameplay content: There are several different game modes available already to keep you entertained. Most of the skills are done, and we're working on adding more throughout Early Access. You can advance through the full 25 ranks in each of the 8 playable classes, though there's still more work to be done on each class. If story is your thing, there are two primary mission storylines with four missions each, along with numerous bosses and lots of enemies. Most of the weapons and powerups have also been implemented. Needless to say, we feel there's already a lot of content to enjoy!

We really love this game and are/will do anything that's necessary for our Early Access and -- eventually -- the full launch to be a success.

If you have any questions, suggestions on bugs, please do report. :)

Currently in early access you can advance your character, play multiplayer game in sessions with all 8 classes and try to survive for 1h in random encounters.”

O jogo vai ter preços diferentes durante e depois do Acesso Antecipado?

“We are offering some great discounts and bundles during Early Access, so by purchasing early you're definitely getting a great deal. The price will be higher at launch.”

Como estão a planear incluir a comunidade durante o desenvolvimento?

“We're looking for YOU to provide as much feedback and bug reports as you can! We want The Red Solstice to be one of the best co-op/multiplayer games on Steam, and we'll need YOUR help to get it there. Feel free to ask us any questions on the Steam forums, our Facebook page, Twitter or wherever else you want. We'll also schedule frequent play sessions and special events with the development team, so keep your eye out!”

The Red Solstice 3.50 update. New sectors, new skills, UI updates

new UI sketch

The Red Solstice is nearing the end of it's Early Access phase and is nearing a full release. After spending a week at the Reboot Develop conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where we gathered feedback from some of the veterans of the industry, and making final arrangements with our publisher Nkidu games, we are confident we can do it (if we put off nonessential tasks such as sleeping for a few months).

Work on the singleplayer campaign is continuing at full speed with most of the essential systems already in place and mission design itself being revised and polished based on internal testers feedback. In the upcoming weeks we expect that more of you who have supported us so far will get the opportunity run through at least parts of the singleplayer experience and help us make it even better with your insights and feedback.

Part of the game that has always been a bit painful for us is the UI. It has gone through multiple revisions, but we were never quite satisfied with how easy it was for new players to grasp. Now finally we are in the middle of a new revision we are confident is going to perform well both in regards to usability, esthetics and intuitiveness. Some of the new UI's elements have already been implemented with this version, while others will be introduced as they are finished. A rough sketch of the new UI has been included in this announcement.

Among other improvements provided with this update are three new components, marksman neutralizer, hellfire guardian and marksman marauder component. Work is being done on the skills that remain to be finished, and we expect to have a full set soon, ready for final balancing and polishing pass.

Work continues on the tactical mode, a special multiplayer mode that enables a player to drop with up to three AI followers and control them in a bullet time mode. Based on community input, a lot of problems have been addressed, with few, including one quite nasty random crash, still preventing us from making it part of the official release version. It can be tested in the testers branch though.

Since new systems are being introduced, some of which require their own keybinds, we had to do some beneath the hood changes to the way settings files are loaded. We apologize about custom keybinds that might have been lost in the process.

Three new sectors are in late development, including military, a large chaotic sector featuring a new mechanic concerning supply crates, and docks, a smaller sector, also featuring supply crates. All of them can already be tested on the testers version.

PS. there is a new powerful legendary item in the game. Good luck finding a way to get it.

Easter is here, so are the updates!

Hello everyone!

It's been quite a while since we did an official update post, so we'd like to use this opportunity to sum up some of the things we did in the past month or so and talk a bit about future plans.

It's been quite a frantic experience working for the deadlines we have set up for the singleplayer, and I must admit I was a bit worried work on further polishing and improving the multiplayer experience might stagnate. To my relief, just the oposite turned out to be true. Creating the singleplayer often forces us to think from a quite a different perspective, and very often the result is a "hey, that could be made to work in multiplayer also" moment.

Thanks to such moments we have the new gunship skill, native skills, and almost compleetly reworked insurgents that now have different classes of their own, each with it's unique set of skills and different strengths and weaknesses player needs to exploit in order to deal with them.

Implementing some singleplayer fearures also made us aware of quite a few user interface elements that can at times either not be visible enough, or clutter the screen too much, so they are at the moment being overhuled. You'll be seing new item interaction icons, new player marine markers, new item icons, monster hit chance and other information being displayed through symbols instead of numbers, new options regarding what information is being displayed and much more.

Some work was done on the netcode for monsters, specially the burrowing monsters, who in part used some of the very old and network resource heavy system, and are now having their own brand new small and elegant packets for each action. The way multiplayer game handles game ending has been greatly overhauled. Game will now keep players connected through the game over menu, allowing host to freely synchronize scores with the clients. As a result, players should no longer see unacurate endgame scores. We'll continue looking for problematic areas in our network system and makng them work propperly.

Players can now see their and community best statistics from the in game menu. Players can also see different community scores as a leaderboard from from the Steam page. It has recently been found that some kill scores have not been propperly calculated, so these have been fixed, but some users might still have those scores saved. For understandable reasons we are unable to test every one of those scores in every situation, so if you ever notice any of them being off, please report it through the forums. Also, please note that some or all of those stats could be reset prior to release.

There have been quite a few complaints about game crashes on end screen, soecially during longer play sessions. We have been trying to figure those out for a while, and have finally found the root cause. Few issues regardin the freing of allocated working memory have been found which led to game no longer being able to allocate new memory after a while. Unfortunately it is not a single issue so we are unable to provide a singular easy fix, but we have managed to seal some major leaks, and users are reporting noticeably improved stability. We will continue working on this issue further.

While digging through the core of our engine, we also managed to stumble on few systems that were unnecesarely draining system resources. Some querries to object lists were greatly optimized, so users, specially those with CPU bottlenecks should feel an emprovement.

Game's graphics engine has been upgraded with two new features, antialiasing and soft particles. Combined with new HDR system implemented some time ago, we are very happy with the visual aspect of the game.

Some updates ago, we introduced a preloading system as an experimental system. We have been collecting user experiences with it and are mostly happy with how it works, but have noticed some issues. Namely, preloading objects, although it can reduce cpu drain at times and increase game fluidity, can also easily overwhelm either computers working memory or GPU memory, leading to reduced performance. At this moment we recomend using this option with care.

Ironward team wishes you all a happy Easter!

Rating Clarification
Casual Player (someone willing to invest less than 100 hours just to learn the game) DO NOT BUY
Normal player (someone willing to invest less than 500 hours to play the game) buy if on sale.
Insano nerd (someone willing to play 500+ hours while working intensely with other players) buy this game.
It takes about 500 hours to get to an xp level where you can reliably do the hardest difficulty if you’re working well with an experienced group.

The Red Solstice is a top down CO-OP game. It has 8 different classes with different ways to inflict pain upon the enemy. Of those, roughly 4 of them have support abilities that make it easier for your teammates to kill the enemy, and 2 are about trying to keep teammates alive longer. Most classes have an option to take 2-6 different primary weapons and 5 different secondary weapons. You only get one primary and one secondary.

You will run around different (brilliantly designed) maps . There are four difficulties and 7 different game mode sub options, making for a variety of different challenges. Some being more challenging than others. In addition to this you get a squad rating based on the overall experience of the squad, making the game harder and unlocking new missions and bosses.

You generally run around the map looting items from lockers and the ground, killing mobs, and leveling up your character (MOBA style without PVP) while heading to mission locations. A game going to competition takes about 1 hour with fast mode option on, 1:15 without fast mode on.

The sound track on the game is interesting for the first 50 or so hours, but with a non AAA game they cant afford to spend the time developing a full soundtrack for the amount of hours you will invest in the game. Expect to play on mute or with the volume down unless you love repetitve sounds.

Completed – This game is still constantly changing, I’ve been around the entire steam release, and never once has a patch made the game anything but HARDER across all difficulty levels, so expect it to get more difficult.

Stable – Crashes have plagued this game throughout its lifespan, although its current state is better than it has been. Its usually really bad right after a patch is released for the game with new content. The developers don’t spend a lot of time playtesting the game on normal rigs to see if it will run properly. That’s what kickstart backers and alpha players are for, if you buy an alpha game you should expect this.

Multiplayer- its CO-OP. You can’t do whatever you want because your entire team relies on every individual in the squad. One person not doing their job properly will cause someone to die. On higher difficulties, two mistakes mean you lost the game.
Easy- If you don’t believe Loosing Is Fun, and enjoy pushing and developing your skills as a player, you will not enjoy this game.

If you want to buy this game, join us in the unofficial TeamSpeak, and ask us some questions to find out if its right for you. You can find the address on the forums. I’ll even start streaming for you to watch if you wish and I’m on, so you can see what gameplay is like.

If you liked or know of NOTD from war3 or SC2, then this game is for you.

If you don't know what those are, then continue to read.

A team based survival game with objectives that can vary as does the difficulty. The game never feels the exact same on each playthrough, with different items and everything each time. Very fun, and a great way to spend some time.

The playerbase has fallen below the critical level needed to sustain the 8-man game lobbies, and little seems to bring them back.

There's also no single player mode, leaving players nothing to do if they cannot find a lobby.

Game had promise. Player base tanked. Few remaining are highly toxic game backers that kick you or demand you to be on team speak which is modded by a kid that bans you for your name. Every patch takes one step foward two steps back. The Dev spends most of his time playing X-Com according to his profile instead of working on the game. Game feels like forever beta. Best to play starcraft 2 customer maps (as this game is based on) or other games if you are interested in zombie survival games. Unless you have 7 other friends to bring with you, stear clear of this game.

** Early Acess Review as of 12-20-2014**

8 Player Co-OP. If your a fan of the War3 mod or the SC2 where teamwork is key to survive the game then look no futher. The game is fun and addictive but has a moderate learning curve. The grind for skills isn't that bad since most of the major skill a player would use in any classes could be attain in 5-6 games depending on ability to play the game.

*Playing mode* There are as 2 maps playable and a 3rd one in testing. This is all for CO-OP.
There is no single player at this moment but should be added but no time table for it.
To me this game primary focus is the CO-OP aspect to create a growing community and hope for an editor to come out to provide user created content soon!!

You can ask your questions here and I will try to answer them correctly to the best of my ability.

The developers are active and particpate with the community on daily bases and patches come frequent enough with fixes and new content.

The community with is still growing but are open to new people to joining everyday. You will meet people all over the world with one goal in common to kill zombies and spray lead till they stop moving.

Pro-- Good game, Growing community, Responsive Developers, CO-OP fun.

Con-- Growing community, Lack of Single Player for some people atm, Moderate learning curve

I play this game for about 700hrs so my POV is over the progress from the start of the game till now.

Ask questions if you like.

I found this game by searching for the multi-player co-op tags on steam. If you're looking for that kind of experience, and like challenging games, then this game is for you. They are reportedly working on a single player mode, but cooperative-multiplayer is where the heart of this game is.

The game IS challenging. If you are playing at the correct difficulty for your team, you will lose more often then you will win.

Even though it's early access, the game is very playable. They've had some buggy patches but they tend to fix them pretty quick. The devs are on a fast-release cycle and they listen to the community as to what is and isn't working, what's fun and isn't fun, and they participate in the forums.

Now that the game is more stable, the dev's have been focusing on adding more content (maps, bosses, missions, skills, etc) which is keeping the game fresh and challenging.

If you can get this game on sale, or money isn't a big deal, I'd definitely recommend the early access version. If you are on a tight budget, you may want to wait for release. I have ~500hours on record so far for a $20 game. So I'm very happy with the value I'm getting.

Don't buy it now.

The community is very small. It has been down to 20-30 players average for 8+ month, and the player number, or whatever left from is, is steadily going downhill. Chances are, if you are unlucky with timezone, that you never see more then one lobby going. Community was driven away by numerous patches making game unplayable, now player count is steadily going downhill. It's EA, but even then disregard for the players is outstanding. Here are recent player numbers:

Patches, most of them, completely ruin the game, so the ones who persist play the role of testers because developers don't bother with testing themself. Some patches bring back the bugs that were "fixed" ages ago. One day you might find that the game crashes just before victory screen, or sometimes in the game's final and most incentive moments. Or that some weapons are broken. Or skills. Or something else. After players enjoy some time those patches, they roll out hotfixes and prepare for the next patch. There is "testers" beta-branch but it is often more outdated then stable one. Those patches driven away a huge chunk of community.

Game engine is a complete mess. Because of hand-made engine this game has poor networking: lags, teleports, everything that could desync WILL desync, skills not working, weapons not dealing damage, ....

The other problem is lack of collision. I bet you didn't see that in promo videos, but if you play this game once you would see that monsters are moving one through other. So fat bosses (big and slow monsters similar to wc3 abominations) could be kited to form one mega-boss with dozens of hands just because it's easier to kill them all at once. Same with any other monster type. It's not just monsters, marines walk one through another too, rockets and bullets fly through walls, but they collide with lamp posts, trees and ,sometimes, empty space above the road. It requires tons of work to fix, so devs aren't going to bother with it until after release.

Graphics is also very bad. I don't care much for it, but still bad textures+no lights+red clouds make awful appearance. That's not going to change so think about it too.

If this game is so bad, why did I play it that lot? Long time before, game was well balanced and there were more players. Some of them are still playing now, but most people that play now have ranks of "Elite commander of force commanders that command elite space marines". This game has 25 ranks, with the 25th requiring 2.222.222 exp, while per game you get, 2.000exp (average game)-6.000exp(perfect game, very rare). And if you think this is grindy, know that they are going to add 10 more "prestige" ranks. Yep, the ones resetting your exp counter to zero. With 24 million exp to go, this game could be an infinite grindmill.

Anyway, i have played with most of them so we are able to overcome whatever buggy ♥♥♥♥ developers introduce. Also, it was quite fun back then, noone knew a thing about the game so the only way to find out was to try it. And there is some special kind of fun in doing complex missions together and pulling out extremally tight situations! It could be achieved in any other coop shooter though.

And of course you could look for positive things in other reviews. It could have been a decent tactical coop shooter, was the developing process not screwed that much.

Now, for every new player wandering in lobby, there are 6-7 super force commanders, who know everything in game. Sometimes they kick you for having wrong layouts, but no wonders there, if you take any layout different from the "canonical" one you die, and fast, even on easy. If you have any doubts about it, new players have rank 0 which says "ready to die". And the gap between ranks is really huge, those who achieved rank 25 are 2 times more durable, inflict 40% more damage, have much more speed and health\armor regen.

That is, loadout variety is very limited. For 4 out of 8 classes there is only one good weapon. Since every mission spawns Upgrades items, which boost specific weapons, there is even less choice what to take. Well you could take whatever you want, but if you don't use those, you die. 1 upgrade for every weapon and 2 upgrades for generic assault rifle(GAR), so with those 4 heavy classes taking all the cool upgrades, medic, demolition and recon have a choice of GARs. Every class has skills that are overpowered and skills that are ♥♥♥♥. So people tend to get kicked if they dont take OP skills and take ♥♥♥♥ skills. Mind that OP skilled are unlocked only after you play some games (up to 20) with that specific class.

Current game session lasts ~60min, the survival mode. You have a map with supplies scattered around and should do your best to loot items and complete missions while waves of monsters try to kill you. There are 3 maps now but people play hardly 2 of them ,most stick to the default one. 3 more are coming. They are going to have some mad unlock conditions so i doubt that they are going to get played much.

If you re still with me, and still have faith in this game, wait for release, the moment developers stop ♥♥♥♥ing around with untested patches, the moment when all content is added and working, the moment more people play this game, the moment there is more then one game going.

Oh jeez where to start? At first this game was very difficult for myself and others to play before steam. The Devs are actually not just active, but even play along with players! Amazing that they do their own testing and are actually willing to listen to players when they have something to say about certain things.

1 - This game has completely topped my list.
2 - I've quit nearly every other game because of this one being so addicting.
3 - If you're looking for a game that gives you reason to come home to play something, THIS IS YOUR GAME.

Best way to get in a group even for newer players - wait around, keep in mind that it is a smaller player base, but there will be a game popping up, or even hop in the Teamspeak 3 server with us! - We're always looking to help out newer players and to get the number of people higher!

Wanting to see more people in this game, would be great! Community is awesome!

Steep learning curve, but it can be done!

Keep up the good work guys! :]

The Red Solstice is brutal and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's rare to have a game that gives a real sense of accomplishment for completion these days. For the most part, you will fail and fail often. But having those games where everyone works together to pull it off is supremely rewarding.

Excellent game.

One of the best squad/co-op, isometric shooters I've played. In it's current early access form, it offers several large maps with randomized mission pools and initial spawn locations; there's a huge amount of replayability. Players are offered an array of different marine classes to choose from--ranging from heavy weapons and armor, medics, squad support and demolition specializations--each class type has a very distinct play style and role. Higher difficulties in-game absolutely stress teamwork and good communication, along with requiring a healthy range of different marine classes.

The intensity, atmosphere and sound design of the game create an unforgiving environment that only a marine of the future would deserve. A simple mistake can take a great game session from "winning" to KIA in the blink of an eye--this is something I don't see often in other games--and The Red Solstice does it beautifully.

If you enjoyed games like Fallout Tactics, the Dawn of War II series or any of the other isometric/tactical classics--I would highly recommend checking out The Red Solstice!

This game is epic, and only in early access.

Ignore the really bad voice acting at the start, and jump in. At first you'll be thinking what the hecks going on, not enough ammo, getting swarmed by the creeps and dying fast, but stick with it for a couple of rounds multiplayer, and buddy up to a vet and a whole world will open up to you.

It has good progression after the initial steep learning start, and enough different builds of skills, classes and gear to keep you going.

This game is true co-op, you go it alone you die, you need your team mates, and they need you.

As with all multiplayer games there are a group of jerks out there who aren't worth playing with, but just avoid them and find a good squad to run with.

Mechanics are a sci-fi diablo esq, but with much more options in build and pick-upable equipment, including changing fire modes on rifle (single, burst, full auto)

All i can say is that this game kicked my ♥♥♥! :) though thats what i hear is its "thing" its meant to be hard.. and they did a good job at that.. I wouldnt play it online with people i dont know, or with a buddy, but if you have 4-8 buddies online you can coordinate with, it would be a great tactical top-down shooter..

Im going to not put it on recommendation for the fact that you do need a pre-set group.. not because its a bad game, but just because it will be hard for a casual player to hop in and out

I want to like this game. I DO like this game. Its a good game. At least, the little bit of the single player prologue that I was able to play (which was all about 20 minutes). The rest of the game right now, is online only, and well, THERE IS NO ONE TO PLAY IT WITH.

Ive sat in the lobby for hours with only 1-2 other afk people. NO ONE PLAYS THIS GAME. I WANT to play this game, but since its 100% reliant on having other people, Im unable to play it.

I regret buying it not because its a bad game, but because I cant actually PLAY the game. Sigh.

A very good tactical action coop game, set in a hardcore world where you won't survive without a leader who knows what he's doing (or if you throw grenades on a nuclear warhead).
The early access already features a lot of content, and they're constantly adding more while balancing the game, plus it will feature a solo campaign.
If you liked maps like Night of the Dead in Warcraft 3, get it !

Really good game. Get a couple of buds together and have a blast. It is difficult though. Ammo becomes scarce.

This game is indescribably fun. It actually has players cooperate instead of run off and screw about on their own. The updates are frequent and always bringing in new content and fixes, showing that the developers actually care, unlike some games -cough- DayZ -cough-

Game IS Like a more Polished Starcraft Survive Mod and If you enjoy thoese you would be well pleased with the game. The Largest draw back is FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THERES NEVER ANYONE ON!!! Thus making it unplayable. Also the learning curve is rathar brutal but that while intimadating that can be overcome with preservernce but one questions if it is worth the effort not to mention 20$ to do so.

The Red Solstice
Is a new up and comeing team beased shooter game
so far enjoyed the classes sytem as well as the upgreads and a great size map with emenys poping up every keeping plays on there toes.

The only problem i find is the respawn time is a bit too long.

few things id like added would be more weapons and maps and some customization of your trooper i.e logo or colour and maybe armor changes as you rank you.

Also so i hope the workshop cummunity will get on this game too.

this will review will be changed as the game is complet

10.1.2015 Early Access. As a friend of this genre, and a huge fan of NOTD. This is the game, also nice that the devs play with us, its mostly stable. Patches seem to be rolling in atleast once a week. Starting a game takes a bit patience, like 15minutes or so. Extremely challenging even for high rank players. hard difficulty is already totally insane. And there is Nightmare difficulty after that.

Its starter friendly in every way, until you hit Rank8. There is some bugs and undeveloped systems, but not any gamebreakers. Mostly you get used to them and stop noticing them. 80% of the players i have played with are helpful and friendly. Learning not to die, playing as a team, micromanage your every move is the key to victory.

There is two methods you can play and switch any time. Automove (or follow) + autofire, will cause you sometimes miss, reducing total DPS, but your instincts and reactions are sharp as a bot, Then there is manual mode. Swapping primary to secondary weapon you run 25% faster, switching from autofire mode to burstfire will enable you move fast between high damage shots. and Manually aiming your gun completely will give you +40% damage, but its up to your own instincts to react to targets approaching you.

All the classes provide very good variety, if you got bored in one class you will find completely diffirent playstyle from another class. I love the RPG system. There are weapons & class specific skills to unlock for the first 50hours of the game (and its still a very, very long way to maximum rank). Playing a certain class gives statistical bonus to that class via Specialization rank. There is three diffirent maps you can play, and every game you can choose from 7 diffirent game modes ( popular are "Fast Mode" and "Bunker Mode"). I would give 2 recommendations to this game if I could.
