New and free CONSORTIUM level and a contest!

Greetings Seekers,

We have just over one week remaining for our crowdfunding effort for Consortium: The Tower!

As part of our pre-production process for The Tower, we have developed a new virtual trainer level for CONSORTIUM. The map itself is designed as an internal tool for us to use moving forward as we develop levels for Consortium: The Tower. It makes great use of super jumping and vertical/open spaces, which the Churchill Tower will be full of.

It will be included, completely free, as part of the next patch for CONSORTIUM (v1.26). However, it is available right now for users who either opt into the beta here on Steam or download the free patch HERE for the DRM free version.

A contest of skill...

So, as an incentive to grab the map and play right now, we have come up with a rather simple but fun contest:

Who in the world can achieve the highest score in the Civilian Gauntlet?

To participate, simply grab the map (see instructions below) and start playing. When you feel like you have achieved a score that you want to enter into the contest:
  1. Take a screenshot that clearly shows your final score on screen.
  2. Post the raw screenshot to Twitter, Facebook or your social network of choice along with the hashtag #TheTowerContest and a link directly to the Consortium: The Tower Fig campaign.
  3. That’s it!
The contest ends the moment that the Fig campaign ends.

Whoever achieves the highest score will receive a huge poster for Consortium: The Tower, signed by The Tower team.

Instructions for how to play Civilian Gauntlet
  1. Opt into the beta: Right click on CONSORTIUM in your library. Click “Properties”. Click the BETAS tab. Click the drop down, and select “vt_civdefense_gauntlet”.
  2. Wait for the game to update, then run CONSORTIUM. The version of the game should show as “V1.25_CGB Master Edition”.
  3. In the main menu, bring up the developer console (default key is ~). If it doesn’t work, make sure the developer console is enabled first: click OPTIONS - Keyboard/Mouse - set Allow Developer Console to “Enabled”.
  4. In the developer console, simply type “map vt_civdefense_gauntlet” (no quotes) and hit ENTER.

To read more about the latest stuff happening (including upcoming Twitch streams!), check out our full update on Fig!.

Consortium: The Tower has been fully funded on Fig!

Hello Seekers,

We wanted to drop in and let you all in on some good news: Our Fig Campaign for Consortium: The Tower has hit its funding goal with 28 days left on the clock! We're still coming to terms with the speed at which this campaign is moving thus far, but we have plenty of things planned over the next few weeks as we strive to tear into some stretch goals.

We’d like to take a moment and thank all the players of CONSORTIUM, and those who continue to follow our announcements and forum here on Steam. Your support over the years means a great deal to us, and we’d love it if you’d continue this journey towards The Tower with us. Hitting our funding means The Tower is a certainty, but we still need some help on reaching our stretch goals. We invite you to come take a look at our campaign, and if it’s up your alley, help us reach those goals!

For all those who have already supported us on Kickstarter or Fig, a massive thank you for putting your trust in us.

Here is some new press for you guys to help us share today's awesome milestone with the world:

Rock, Paper, Shotgun

GameSpot

WCCFtech

VentureBeat

GameRant

OnlySP - includes link to an extensive interview!

Also a brief note about CONSORTIUM Game One: Once the campaign is over and we're settling into production of The Tower, we will also be spending some time finishing up some things with CONSORTIUM - a Mac build remains a priority for us to finally get done. CONSORTIUM V1.26 will also be completed and will include various bug fixes.

That's about it for now!

Sincerely,

-- iDGi and the Consortium team

Acerca de este juego

The direct sequel to CONSORTIUM is now crowdfunding on Fig! https://www.fig.co/campaigns/consortium-the-tower We need YOUR help to make this project a reality!

Game One of the iDGi-1 Trilogy.

Purchase includes 70 min original orchestral soundtrack by Jeremy Soule and the comprehensive "iDGi-1 Discoveries" lore compendium.

Taking place entirely aboard a massive futuristic aircraft, CONSORTIUM is a first person science-fiction role-playing experience unlike any other. The story begins in our world - the "real world" - where we here at Interdimensional Games have developed a satellite (iDGi-1) capable of opening a digital rift through time and space...

Anyone with an internet connection can travel through this rift and awaken within an alternate dimension from our own - the "game world" - in the year 2042.

  • The first of a planned trilogy, Consortium contains a fully resolvable arc entirely aboard Zenlil, but links to further games by a much larger story and its countless mysteries. Each subsequent title will act in this way, with both an internal story and a serialization that continues to build the alternate universe.
  • Immerse yourself in an interactive story taking place entirely aboard the C-3800-D "ZENLIL" Consortium Command vessel on December 21st, 2042...
  • Built with a modified version of the SOURCE engine, explore ZENLIL, a living and highly interactive environment with complete freedom and agency. Includes turbulence and non-scripted decompression events!
  • Engage with a cast of over 20 people in innovative and life like conversation. Over 4,000 lines of fully voiced dialogue, each choice changes how they think about you. Or choose not to engage with them at all and never speak a word!
  • Experience an all original orchestral score by award winning composer Jeremy Soule
  • Act as detective investigating an on-board murder, while simultaneously playing peacemaker to a large band of mercenaries who seem to want YOU dead. Or play diplomacy with a smoking barrel, and let the tragedies continue to mount.
  • Dive into a world with well over 150,000 words of back-story and lore, where everything you read, see, speak, or hear relates to the story and characters, and everything is there for a reason.
  • A highly original energy based inventory system with original sci-fi weapons, gadgets and armor.
  • The story unfolds based largely on your actions. You may use diplomacy and talk your way through the entire game - never shooting anyone! OR, decide to use deadly or non-lethal force.
  • Forge lasting relationships with the crew of ZENLIL, and alter the course of the story through your actions. Your choices will change your play experience, and subsequent playthroughs offer the chance to make different decisions and see all new outcomes.
  • Regardless of what you choose to do or not, the experience always moves forward, adapting seamlessly to YOU.

Requisitos del sistema

    Mínimo:
    • SO: Windows Vista/7/8 32bit (NO XP SUPPORT)
    • Procesador: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.7GHz
    • Memoria: 4 GB de RAM
    • Gráficos: NVIDIA GTX 260 | AMD Radeon HD 4890 series
    • DirectX: Versión 9.0c
    • Almacenamiento: 7 GB de espacio disponible
    • Notas adicionales: Of the maximum 4GB of addressable memory space on a 32-bit system (2 ^ 32 = 4,294,967,296 bytes = 4GB), Windows reserves 2GB. This leaves any application (such as Consortium) with a maximum of 2GB to play with. During loading, Consortium can allocate up to 1.8GB worth of memory. If you are running Consortium with a 32 bit machine, be sure to close as many other simultaneously running programs as you can, otherwise "out of memory" crashes may occur.
    Recomendado:
    • SO: Windows 7/8 x64
    • Procesador: Intel i3 2100T | AMD Phenom II x4 or higher
    • Memoria: 4 GB de RAM
    • Gráficos: NVIDIA GTX 460 | AMD Radeon HD 5830 series or higher

Definitely a reccomendation from me. The whole game world consists of maybe 100-200 square meters (except for the ending, but that doesn't really count) but the game would absolutely require several playthroughs to see everything the game has to offer. The game's story has a lot more to offer than it might appear, in fact, there's more to discover even if you beat the game. There's several secrets, and they're well done. I'd absolutely say you should get this game. It's only ten dollars, and usually the rule for me is one dollar per hour, and i've got 22.7 hours as of now in this game.

Interesting take on non-linear adventure game combined with murder-room mystery elements. I didn't expect it but it was really fun talking with all the crew and finding out whodunit. I really liked the freedom of choice in dialogues and compelling branching strory set in interesting future world.

Sometimes it was very hard to differentiate between all those numbered chess-like nicknames as whole hiearachy definitely needs some time to get used to (I would appreciate showing normal names anytime). Browsing through main terminal was mainly boring because most of the texts were written as interviews with too much beating around the bush (I would prefer shorter news-like summaries). But overall it is surprising hidden gem. and I'm glad I found it.

I recommend this game to anyone who prefers talking their way out instead of fighting in other RPGs.

Ever wanted to play a Star Trek episode, where you're serving as the security officer?

That's pretty much Consortium - a weird mixture of Deus Ex, a Star Trek episode, Chess, and the metanarrative of Assassin's Creed.

Connect to the mind of Bishop 6 and live a day in the life of a Consortium Bishop. It's pretty damned cool.

Consortium is a very story and dialog driven game. To sum up briefly...
Dialogs: lots and branching
Duration: relatively short (a few hours depending on what you do) but replaying highly recommended
Story: excellent
Combat: completely avoidable but if you do it is passable (great if coupled with an AutoHotKey script to overcome some binding quirks)
Characters: lots of variety and about 20 of them. They're memorable enough you'll remember most of their names.
Environment: small (stuck on a large aircraft) but detailed.
Graphics: the style is minimalist. Judge for yourself from the screenshots.

I love this game so much, I invested big bucks into the Fig campaign for the sequel. It's not for everyone but it is at least worth playing once to decide if it is for you.

Saves will carry over to The Tower!

Really interesting game. The look of this is quite realistic and has some really interesting futuristic technology going on. So far, this game has shown that there is quite a bit of replay value in the way you act with your main character. After showing you around briefly, it has given you a mystery and a problem that you need to then solve. There are many characters to interact with, things to do, and technology to interact with. It is a solid game.

Despite the FPS/RPG trappings its more like an adventure game than anything else; aside from some virtual reality training levels there are only two real firefights in the entire game. Thankfully the adventure game stuff is pretty interesting, with the entire game playing out on a single sci-fi aircraft that's like a cross between Star Trek and Thunderbirds where everyone has goofy uniforms and chess-based rankings and you do everything from solve a murder mystery to negotiate with terrorists to man the ship's defenses and do repairs after a battle. It's only towards the end when it tries to introduce a metanarrative involving terrorists and AIs and characters speaking to the player directly that the story starts to fall apart.

Was an interesting game. Many replays if you just wanna get all teh achievos or just wanna play for fun.

You control this character codenamed Bishop 6 who is on Consortium which seems to be the plane/space plane(as apparently it can travel outa space too). So you run around the plane doing missions and meeting these new crewmembers of yours, bla bla bla, then you get attacked, and then sent on a *real* mission which promptly ends the game with that cliffhanger.....

Game appears to be run on Source engine and it looks alright. Audio seems to be stereo only, sound and music are fine, IMO of course.

This game can be described in one word: Simulator.

Overal I enjoyed the game, so thumbs up from me.

If you are looking for something similar to System Shock... then don't look for it here ;). Which is not bad because this game is something new and something good.

It's not a shooter game, it is not RPG-by-stats game. But it is truly roleplaying adventure game where you talk to others, solve criminal case by looking for clues and asking questions. There are shooting sections, there is inventory management but te core of the game is playing your role and expressing it by actions, inactions, words spoken and unspoken. Great experience that changes rules how NPC interactions can be implemented in the game.

I played this game twice, and even though i tought i do everything the same i got different choices to pick just because i rushed some conversation straight to the point or didnt click one thing. You can play your style, you can break 4th wall, you can try playing role of character you play - short game with replay value and some achievements on the list makes me wonder 'how is that even possible? ive checked everything' :P.

Dont be fooled by, maybe bad, screenshots - game looks really good when you play it and simplistic graphics serves it's purpose - you can clearly distinguish one NPC from another by simple features of face and haircut so when you are given task or clue to talk to somebody you can recognize them from afar.
And even though game offers really limited space for your actions this space is used to its full extend. Scenery will change, rules will change, game will ofer new things within the same corridors.

Story is solid and characters are well fleshed out. Some pieces of world lore or propaganda could be annoying as game obviously uses cliches, national stereotypes and puts real world politics or religious issues inside the game. Setting is parallel universes in future so why the game is full of nowadays topics? Feeling of being indoctrinated is so strong that everytime i see piece of this makes me roll my eyes and think 'omg, rly?'.

As i wrote earlier - it is not a shooter game so shooting is really basic and quite simple. Enemies are just dolls to be shoot at and only difficulty is their endurance. You can't use covers and all focuses on taking enemy down without much tactics on how to do it - just keep their silhouettes within your crosshair and keep button pressed down.
You can collect new gear, manage ammo and use energy to heal during battle but these features are not much used within this game.

And why battle is in the game when there is not much action? Because it is just a first episode of upcoming action game where you enter the brawl in The Tower. It is like introductory sequence, shareware-alike kind of old games used to have where you had first episode to have fun and then you could buy full version. But for this one you have to pay full price in advance and episode will end up with a cliffhanger.
Of course it is just information for the reader, not a flaw, i don't see a reason not to pay the devs for such a good piece of work. Game looks great, sounds great [full voiceover], is replayable and costs 10e. It is like going to the cinema but here you can change the outcome of the story if you like so :)

Play this game. It's not a massive game, but it is well made and if your graphics card can handle the slightly curious render then it will be a satisfying way to pass a few hours.

You can actually have conversations with the AI in this game, the talking flows naturally and the interactions are mostly really connective -as in- I care about the crew (well, Rook 9, who still owes me a drink!) far more than their colleagues in Skyrim (who insist on telling me their lifestories without request before I firestorm their arses).

But yes, A fun smallish but well crafted detective game right here.....

When I saw this game being free for a weekend I thought to myself "Probably another mediocre, sci-fi Shooter". After finishing this game in one session, I realized that I couldn't have been more wrong.

CONSORTIUM is best compaired with story-rich First Person games like the original Deus Ex or the Mass Effect series. First, I'll get to the games strongest points. The Story is kinda weird, but in an awesome way. You make up your own background story, your seekings and how your attitude. Since you are in an to you unknown world, this leads to some comical missunderstanding, both showing a great humor and sometimes breaking the 4th wall. There are also no cutscenes in this game, never robbing you of its control and always being able to decide whether you want to be nice to someone, ♥♥♥♥ them off, just walk away from a conversation or simply staying silent. There are a lot of choices and interessting stuff to explore that you will miss in your first playthrough. In addition, most characters are enough fleshed out to be interessting and have an own personality.

If you are searching for a good shooter, CONSORTIUM might not be the right choice as I found the combat system and ammo managment to be kinda confusion. It works for the time being but has much room for improvements. If you want a great story, great characters, many choices and an awesome time, get it.

An amazing masterpiece that only Indiedevelopers can bring forth.

This game randomly showed up in my library a while ago and I don't know why. I installed it so It wouldn't disapear, and it's just been sitting in my library ever since. I was bored and decided to play it today, and in my time playing I've found it to be a very in depth story driven game, and it seems like a lot of hard work and effort was put into it such that each and every action actually does have an effect of somesort. (except turning on every sink and blowdrier and then flushing the toilet as fast as it'll let you). Also, I accidently blew myself through a wall with a grenade, so don't shoot straight down or you may wind up outside the map. Lots of fun so far though.

CONSORTIUM is an odd beast. I can honestly say I had a great time with it, and can tell that the developers put a lot of time, effort, and heart into getting this indie creation to function like it does. I'd compare it favorably to the sections in MASS EFFECT where you just chat it up with your crew on the Normandy, learn a little bit about every one, affect their lives in little ways.

In CONSORTIUM, the crew is a lot less diverse (sometimes, I had trouble telling them apart), but the reactivity is absolutely fantastic. Going through the achievements, I can see so many different outcomes to choices that I made half-heartedly at the time. There's a lot of opportunity for replayablilty here. That is if you're on-board with the game's premise of spending 4-5ish hours getting to know its cast of characters in a confined flying command center.

If you love the dialog/choice-heavy sections of modern RPGs, here's a great little game that's built entirely around that. As someone who always puts points into charisma in RPGs (I know, I know), CONSORTIUM was right up my alley.

It's definitely not perfect. There are entire systems (inventory and ammo management) built around its very clunky combat mechanics, but I can only think of a few times when you have occasion to use your gun. You'll probably see more combat in the combat training scenario than in the rest of the game combined. It gives the impression of a game that's trying to "check a box" rather than make it a key part of the experience. It is a-okay to not have combat in a game like this. When CONSORTIUM was at its best, it reminded me of TITANIC: ADVENTURE OUT OF TIME. No combat, intriguing story, interesting characters, worthwhile investigation sections. An all-around great game.

There was also a bit of story-bending to an ARG that I didn't know existed, but apparently does. In the moment, I felt a little lost, like there was a crucial part of the story I was missing.

Overall, really enjoyed my experience. Confined and relatively brief, though it was, the game is also very dense. I can easily see myself playing through this a couple more times to see different outcomes. Eager to see how Part II of the trilogy eventually plays out!

An amazing game with a great story.

Cons:
- Shooter (shooting) elements seem somewhat poor. The ideas are ok, their execution... not so much.
- Part 2 again needs crowdfundning and boy we need that game out already. This story needs conclusion!
- Performance problems?

Pros:
- Everything else, really. As in...
- ...really, REALLY great plot, characters, interactions between them, their agendas;
- Amazing atmosphere. I mean it: it's one of the most immersive games I've played;
- Did I mention how great are the atmosphere and the plane crew? You care for characters, you feel for them.
- Very good pacing.
- Great character visual design, very good plane design.
- Nice "cartoon-ish" graphics.
- Even though the game ends pretty much with "To be continued", it's really good even as a standalone story.
- Very promising sequel.

Recommendation(s): Play a Source Engine game, be able to handle the art style.

Bought at Price: F2P – Source Engine Mod (Demo)

I’m confused where to actually start with this review. Consortium isn’t your typical game.

Sure it’s a murder mystery game, but that doesn’t really do it justice. The way I’d describe it is take the depth of choices from The Witcher 3, throw it in a blender with the board game Clue, add in an odd art style, and blend it all up.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=602261217
There are a lot of good unique things about this game, like the choices and consequences and gameplay mechanics – but overall – I found myself confused and my eyes straining from semi-realistic art style. The UI felt like duct tape being used on a fancy pair of jeans, which really hurt the title even more.

Ignoring the UI, the story/plot left me very confused. I felt as if it needs a professional rewrite. By halfway through, I was still trying to piece together the beginning, which an understanding of the beginning is required to play the rest of the game properly.

I know, I know. It’s an indie title, but I was just disappointed that this could have turned out to be a much better game than it was. A lot of other people enjoyed the game, but I just don’t see myself wanting for the next game to come along.

La verdad esque no me esperaba un juego asi de decente, es cierto que tiene algun bug y que es corto pero la cantidad de posibilidades lo hace un juego con rejugabilidad.

I didn't expect this game to be so good, there are some bugs and is a bit short but the amount of posibilities make it a replayable game.

Recomiendo probarlo en este finde gratuito.
I reccomend to try it in this free weekend.
