Beat Your Music mode features a set of tools allowing players to use their own music to create custom KickBeat tracks. Experiment with different types of music to create different types of fights!

We got rid of the bars, arrows, button icons, etc. that other music games rely on as action cues and replaced them with fully 3D animated characters. Instead of just seeing characters in the background moving to a preset script as eye candy while the actual gameplay takes place in an abstract 2D interface, you actually control and react to those 3D characters. That means you actually get to focus your attention on what those characters are doing! As you play the game, you're creating your own fight sequence with your button presses. We also let you get rid of all the other interface parts (such as score) if you like, so that there are no distractions from the action.

KickBeat features a full length single player campaign with beautifully hand drawn animations and a unique art style.

Whatever you do, do NOT get this game! If you do, expect frequent crashes and freezes. I have played Kickbeat on a PS Vita with no flaws or problems whatsoever. If you want to play this game, get it on a version other than PC.

Overly simplistic QTE gameplay, 4 buttons, push the one that lights up, that's all the gameplay there is. The enviroment the gameplay is implemented in is what makes it interesting, because each succesful button hit equals to kicking a bad guy's ♥♥♥ in a cool way, or missing it causes them to hit you. The rythim changes based on the music playing, much like a Audiosurft of Guitar Hero titles work, and they have some really action pumping great stuff there to give your heart the bump-bump tempo while awesome (cartoonish) action is played on the screen.

However, being a low budget game, sadly it has some downsides. The campign is exactly the same levels twice from half of it, with the same music, just with a different character (=skin, nothing else), and I think I counted 2 max 3 bands playing all the music in the game, and that's a huge negative for a game that is based on music. The lacking variety of artists really makes the whole thing feel like you are listening to Blue Stahli's Kill Me Every Time, and then 20 times the slightly different remixes.

It's a pick it up once or twice and be done with it game, definitly worth picking up on a nice discount if you are looking for a relaxing yet at the same time adrenaline pumping simple game.

It's subpar compared to the other bigger titles that made this genre popular (Audisurf, whatever guitar controller game you can think of etc.), mostly due to the very-very low number of artists and tracks (24) that mostly all sound the same with one or two exceptionally good one. You can add your own songs however, but I got bored of it before I reached that point that I'd want to try. Doesn't means it's bad, it's just this long these type of games last for me.

This seems like it would be a fun game... if I could get it to run without crashing. For context, I have: 6 gb RAM, nVidia GeForce GT 525m, intel core i7 processor. I have to bring the game's resolution all the way down to 800x600 (or whatever equivalent the game uses) to keep it from crashing less than 30 seconds into the first song; but even on 800x600 it has about a 50% change of crashing at some point during a song. I've googled around about the issue and haven't found anything that works, and I don't have the patience to keep trying. There are plenty of rhythm games for different platforms that don't have this issue; I'll be looking for one of those and I'd advise all other prospective buyers to do the same.

Cool graphics, cool songs, but not even good computers can stand the FPS... If somebody on steam messages you, your PC/Desktop tends to force quit the game... Quite sad, might be fun in multiplayer.

Finally got 100% of the achievements on this game. It was so satisfying when I completed the 18th song on survival.
The choice of songs were pretty good, the story was generic but I didn't mind it too much as this wasn't the core of the game, just a side peice. The leaderboards were fun and enticed me to get better scores. Master difficulty is where you really feel like a badass, especially on the longer levels when you comlete them flawlessly.
Definitely worth your time and money, preferrably during a sale.

If you're looking for a rhythm game like audiosurf that can use your own music library (but also has a pretty decent set track for story mode) but is a little more mentally and physically demanding then KickBeat is for you.

To everyone in the reviews saying this game doesn't sync well, they probably didn't calibrate the music lag setting correctly or they're just not very musically talented as the custom track mode allows you to fully customize the enemy generators BPM to your music up to 200.

The story mode is decent and the small cutscenes have a few pretty funny jokes. There are a couple of characters and costumes you can unlock as well as stages which also change the enemies outfits. The game also comes with a "visualizer mode" where you can just play music and watch the AI fight the enemies for you, kinda cool but not very exciting considering the limited kung-fu animations there are (maybe like 10 different movesish?).

Don't know what to think about this game
its style is usually not something i enjoy the guitar hero type timing coordination games.,
if you enjoy those type of games you would more than likely enjoy this.

I really love this game. I played it extensively on the PS3 version. So a few months back when I got a new computer, I decided to get a copy of it for the PC. It has one fatal flaw in that it had an extreme amount of slowdown even on the lowest settings, and my PC has decent enough specs. After fiddling around with it I got it to work fine. Fast forward to today however, the game crashed and when I boot it back up again, IT WIPED ALL OF MY PROGRESS. For that reason alone I cannot reccomend this version of the game. If you want this game, I'd highly suggest getting any other version of this game. Sure, they may not look as good on the consoles, but atleast you won't have your progress wiped.

Just played Lee's Story at Normal - Mei's story at Hard
If only would there be more story, maybe get that grandpa make some kung fu moves.

I would recommend everyone who likes atleast little bit guitar hero kinda games.
or who likes to tap arrow keys ( or keys which you ever decide to bind them ) in rhytm

满心欢喜下载了这个游戏以为是功夫格斗游戏,结果打开就感觉有点不对劲,进入故事模式,漫画式的过场还是不错的,描绘的中国也勉强贴切,六分,进入游戏,辣光怪陆离的舞台是什么鬼?怎么一股歌手演唱会的感觉?只有两边大大的汉字功夫提醒我这是格斗场,好吧,看着我们瘦高却一身疙瘩肉的男主,我就不说什么了,游戏开始,从天而降一圈八尺兄贵,把男主围在中间!QAQ男主这是要干嘛?GAME START!激情音乐响起!然后。。。然后那群兄贵开始绕着男主转圈。。。好吧,继续玩,玩了一会特么才发现!这特么是一个音乐游戏啊!整个游戏似乎都是QTE!
总结起来,这个游戏是披着功夫格斗皮的音乐游戏,作为一个功夫游戏来看,打击感薄弱,人物重复,似乎只看眼疾手快。。。作为一个音乐游戏来看呢,音乐尚可QTE也不算太变态,总的来说,六分吧

剧情虽然看不太懂但觉得很厉害的样子
过场动画做得蛮不错、但游戏时人物动作比较单调、翻来覆去就那几招、
游戏因为是在舞(武)台上的、旁边一圈一圈的光效、太炫了好吗··影响视觉好吗··
也可以自定义BGM来进行游戏
按节奏走还不如按特效走
一个音乐游戏你节奏点对的还没隔壁melody's escape好··

作为一个音乐游戏,音乐部分非常OK,各种电子、RAP和摇滚,完全符合我的口味!至于游戏方式,感觉操作并不是很难,但是画面实在太炫,各种光影效果晃眼严重扰乱你的动作…
可以用自己电脑里的音乐玩,不过貌似只支持MP3格式。
感觉总体上是个很有潜力的音乐游戏

剧情:扫地僧拯救音乐界

本作画面动感酷炫,同时将音乐游戏与beat 'em up类相结合的创意也让人眼前一亮,可惜其他方面的表现不尽如人意。

本作为了提升难度,note会在旋律与歌词间切换,导致有些时候很难跟上note的节奏,难度较高时容易产生“我在踩着毛打啊”的感觉。于是某些没有歌词的曲目,比如电子超快感的几首BGM则给人比较顺畅的感觉。同时游戏本身note踩得就很微妙,导致很多时候啪啪啪一顿打却完全感受不到与旋律的配合。

同时,本作收录曲目偏少,为了补充曲目的稀少制作组添加了自动生成曲目功能,结果不支持FLAC,简直逼死强迫症。虽然Steam版追加电子超快感BGM还是绝赞好评的。

Steam上的音乐游戏比较少,这个还算可以一玩的程度吧。6/10,给个及格。

Zen studios 这个休闲游戏小作坊从来都不曾名声大噪,却也总是在你即将遗忘它时带来些不错的小品级游戏保持它在休闲游戏市场的那一亩三分地.

与那一大堆五花八门的Pinball不同,这次的 KickBeat 显然还是花费了Zen studios更多的心思和创意,KungFu+Music 的确是令人兴奋的组合,说真的,作为一个铁杆音乐游戏Fan,我第一次看到这个游戏的介绍时就已打定主意要入手了.



画面 >

游戏画面表现很不错,场景从最初给人的“丑陋”印象,会随着剧情的推进而一路进步到“炫酷”. 看上去有些奇怪的人设也会随着各种Avata的解锁而变得越来越好看.

上手开玩之后会发现其实炫酷的场景和光影会对玩家的判断和反应造成困扰,罪魁祸首是糟糕的视角.
而让我不得不吐槽的是,由于制作组想要更加叼的视觉效果,所以不但不允许玩家自由控制视角,反而还变本加厉的让视角不停 远近摆动 和 时不时的震动抽搐,这简直闪瞎LZ的24k钛合金狗眼~

这样糟糕的视角设定酷是酷了,但事实上相当影响玩家的游戏体验.


手感 >

游戏的操作中规中矩,没有什么惊喜,甚至手感比O2Jam之类的游戏要差十条街,但也还不至于太糟糕,至少在鼓点节奏比较强的音乐上表现还是不错的,对其它类型的音乐则适应性比较差,毕竟操作方式限制了它的表现力(大量的2连按).


音乐 >

音乐方面没啥可说的,自带的还不错,你也可以随心所欲的添加任何你喜欢的 mp3 文件到游戏中去一试身手.


游戏性 >

音乐类游戏,尤其是自带音乐导入和编译系统的,往往都具备极佳的重复可玩性:比如早年的 O2Jam 至今不乏拥趸,近日的 AudioSurf 虽然有些另类,却也以其极佳的节奏感获得了成功.

然而 KickBeat 显然不在此列.

是的,本作也自带导入和编译系统,但事实上这个编译系统纯粹就是个空标签,里面什么都没有~

也就是说,不管你导入的是MJ的神作还是郭德纲的相声,这个编译系统都能给你糊弄出一套跟音乐节奏毫无关联的、不紧不慢的步点出来,这简直就是欺骗玩家的感情.

有意思的是,制作组其实十分清楚这个问题(废话,这玩意儿他们自己压根就等于没做能不清楚吗),于是在游戏的Tips中,你会看到如下字样:“导入音乐编成的关卡可能步点与音乐节奏无关” ......

"我们都说清楚了啊,我们可没欺骗消费者!"—— 呵呵!

很好玩的音乐系游戏~
起初HJB3追加这款游戏时还没什么感觉,但是玩过之后,发现这款游戏还是不错的
这个游戏用了比较新颖的方式来表达音乐系游戏
用武术来表现节奏感
此外,还支持自己建立关卡,自己挑选音乐,然后自己选择节拍
比较可惜的是,人物的武术动作比较单调
而且和dustforce一样,不支持联机

怎么说呢。。。。这个游戏的创意挺好的,但是还是有诸多问题。。。。。
作为一个音乐节奏类游戏,节奏点把握得还不错。。。。但是,作为一个带有动作性质的音乐节奏类游戏,这个人物的打击感很是不足。。。。打上去轻飘飘的。。。。。
再有,我很能理解制作公司想把这个游戏做得很酷炫,特别是效果方面。。。。他们也的确做到了,画面效果的确挺不错,炫目的灯光还有人物。。。。。但是这也是问题所在,这导致画面显得不干净。。。。。我的意思是影响玩家判断按键。。。。。特别是有些地方为了体现那种强烈的鼓点,屏幕会晃动,会拉近拉远。。。。。。这其实都很不错,很带感。。。。但是这样就会影响玩家对按键的判断,难度一高更是如此。。。。。。
但是,这个游戏还是挺值得一玩的。。。。。原声音乐不错,还有我上面所说的画面效果。。。。

KickBeat is a rhythm game that's almost good, but doesn't quite hit the mark.

For starters there are only 24 tracks, and they're pretty much all either what wikipedia defines as 'Industrial Rock'/'NuMetal' or the 6 electronica/dance tracks from Electronic Super Joy. This ultimately leads to a pretty low amount of genres. There is an option to make custom tracks out of your own songs, and while you can set the BPM, you cannot add true custom tracking as far as I can tell, leading to a sub-par experience there.

As many other reviews have noted, the notes don't really match up with the rhythm that much, so you will primarily be relying on the visuals to know when to press buttons. This leads into another large flaw of the game - the visuals are incredibly noisy, often making it a strain to know when the 'enemies' are coming.

Another mechanical quirk of the game are the 'power up' orbs. These primarily just give you bonus points or multipliers. There's also a shockwave (clears nearby enemies) and a shield, but using those actually grants less points than not using them. The quirk is that you have to doubletap the button in order to pickup the orb. On the higher difficulties, missing an orb counts as getting hit. This is problematic because it can quickly grow incredibly tiresome to doubletap orb wielding enemies in succession.

The game was initially designed for consoles - as such I used a controller for it, but that brought its own slew of problems. On expert/master difficulty, there are often enemies coming from three directions. As almost anyone who plays on a controller is aware of, pressing an opposing pair of buttons (example: A+Y or X+B) on a controller is incredibly awkward. Combine this with needing to doubletap, and getting punished for hitting extra buttons, leads to a frustrating setup. I imagine this is much easier with a keyboard, but it does raise the question of why the game was designed this way to begin with since it initially launched on console.

Finally, I just wanted to point out the silly unlock system the game uses. You're stuck with playing as the male character until you complete the game's story as him - then you can use the female. Despite being given seperate 'stories' they both play the exact same songs, and have the same gameplay.

Oh - right, this game actually has a story. It's, as to be expected, absurdly terrible. This isn't a problem in itself, except for the fact that there are a couple brief unskippable cutscene parts associated with the 'boss battles' which are painful to sit through.


Anyway, despite all my whining, I did finish the game - which is saying something in itself. There is potential here, and if you picked this up in a bundle, it's worth giving a whirl. Ultimately however, I cannot recommend actually buying this game by itself.

It's an interesting idea that feels incomplete. This is a standard push the buttons with the music rhythm game. instead of the note highway or scrolling indicators this title uses a radial format combined with a fighting game aesthetic. Fighters enter the combat zone and rotate around you until moving to strike from one of the four cardinal directions and you press the corisponding button to stop them. There are 3 enemy types, denoted by color, which indicate on or off beat and multi button attacks. That's all there is though, just press buttons with the beat. It can get quite challenging at the higher settings, but not in a enjoyable way, the complexity never evolves. You are able to import your own music into the game allowing for some customizable fun. The core soundtrack is a bit 10 years ago, and the story is a bit of goofy fun. For the asking price of $10 I feel like it's not a bad deal if you are looking for a simple rhythm game with a fun aesthetic. It does not stack up to the greats in this genre, so buyer beware.
