What the developers have to say:

Play for free, keep your stuff! No resets at the end of Beta!

All purchases and unlocks are permanent. We call it Beta because we're still adding some pretty big features, but so far we have:

- Training and Solo play - for learning how to play, or casual fun
- Coop and PvP Matchmaking - quickly get matched against others
- Custom games and rules - when you want total control
- Player driven economy - didn't need that drop? Sell it to other players!
- Quests with ingame rewards - like Achievements, but better
- Leveling, progression, unlocks - level yourself, your AirMechs, expand your army
- NOT "pay2win" at all - check our reviews or ask players ingame
- Global chat, Factions, parties - integrated directly into the core UI
- Crafting system - added due to player demands
- VIP/Premium for LIFE with any purchase - because we're cool like that

Update #215 - Shop, Market, Bugs and Balance

We are giving the Shop and Market a big overhaul to make it easier to browse and find what you want. We've gone back to a more traditional menu that you can expand and sort. There's a few things left to finish (some new filters needed) but in general it's going in the right direction.

Dan has spent a lot of time with the map editor fixing bugs and adding features. Still not what we would call beta, but in it's alpha state it can be fun to mess around with. We've also released a special Basecamp structure that gives you a shortcut into the editor, plus it's kind of a fun extra for your camp. Look for it in the Shop > Other > Basecamp.

There are new Daily Quests that are timed--keep an eye out for them! We'll be testing them out to see what a good balance is for always having something new to do. Besides that there's lots of bug fixes and balance changes you can read about in detail below.

As always, come discuss these changes in the forums! http://airme.ch/patch215

Steam Exclusive Offer

Two Portal themed items are now available to all Steam players:

Companion Cube - Found in the ruins of a long abandoned facility, there's something about this utilitarian cube that compels you to keep it at your side. It follows your AirMech in battle acting as a faithful companion Pet until the end! Can be equipped in a Flair slot on any AirMech.

Sentry Turret - Blueprints for this turret were found in a large underground facility in use before the War. They seem to have been designed for use against humans, so this version is equipped with armor piercing rounds to make it more viable against the robot armies used in battle today. They are light and cheap, only effective against weaker units, but you can build a lot quickly to make them useful.

Early Access Review
I have played this game for literally 8 hours, but I can already tell this game can go far.

The Good

Very friendly to low tier pc's.
This game can run smooth on almost any pc, lowering the settings doesn't really take that much away from the visual appearance, so you don't exactly need a hardcore gaming pc to play this game.
Very fun and fast paced.
Not really much I can say about this, only that it's super fast paced and the tide of the battle can change within seconds.
Not too heavy on purchasing items.
You don't feel too pressured to buy stuff or diamonds from the shop, all the classes and most of the items can be unlocked and purchased with points you get for playing the game, the only stuff you can purchase is cosmetic items that look cool, and "Ultimates" which have buffed up stats, but you can't actually use these ultimates in ranked matches, so it's not pay to win.
Balanced.
Each class of mech is different and comes with different abilities and stats, so there isn't that one class that's super buffed up like Chuck Norris on sterriods. The extra items you can buy to put on your mech come with downsides, one of the legendary weapon parts came with a huge debuff and made me think twice before wanting it.
MOBA? Maybe?
This feels nothing like your average MOBA, such as DotA or LoL, Carbon Games definetly took the average MOBA and added their own saucy twist.

The Bad
It can be a bit confusing at times to figure out how to buy and equip units or how to use skills, so they could have made the tutorial a bit more detailed in some areas.
You have to be online to play.
Now, I'm not sure if there's a setting to keep you logged into the game, but you have to log into your AirMech account every time you launch the game, so you basically require internet connection to play. I don't know if this affects too many people but I thought I should make note of it.
Matchmaking,
I live in America, US West, and I would be matched up with people that are extreme distances away, so if the devs can change it to Area Based, it would fix a lot of lag problems.

Anyway, that's really all I have.

Fun Game.

Very addictive and great fun for casual gamers and intense multiplayer combat vets. My son and I have both had a great time playing this game. We donated more than once and wish Carbon Games the best of luck kepping this title running.

I would say that this game is one of the best of it's type you can get for free.
Starter Pack is good to have, but even without it you can still level up and become pro.

No real need to get the cosmetic variants of the AirMechs because they don't provide any real game advantage. The only bad thing about this game is the lag caused by high network latency in the PVP battles.

A complete clone (right down to the graphics) of Herzog Zwei on the Sega MegaDrive, except, with online multiplayer and quicker gameplay.

I'd knock them down for ripping another game off directly, but seriously, they got it bang on with a game that's far more fun to play than the original. Can't go wrong with that!!

My only complaints are that you have to unlock all the basic modes, and the AI seems very very stupid and easy to defeat.
