Most horror game developers think that jumpscares are the key feature for horror. It's just jumpscare after jumpscare. You may be worrying/nervous throughout those games but only because you know you're going to get jumpscared. Jumpscares AREN'T scary. They make you p!ss a little bit but that's a natural human reaction. Everything can jumpscare you in real life from a creaky floor to someone just saying something in a quiet place. That's not horror. True horror is this game.
Amnesia: The Dark Decent, although quite outdated, is defenitly the scariest game I have ever played. I've watched loads of horror films and played many scary games but non of them have left me scared sh!tless throughout and after. I only grab a cushion and conseal my face because I'm always expecting a jumpscare. This game, like no others, truely terrified me, during and after. I even got so scared I rushed to the bathroom and nearly threw up. Luckily I didn't. This game left me sick and shaken throughout it and slightly disturbed me with its well written story. Since there are no other humans (that aren't dead or deformed) apart from you, you feel alone and forgotten.
I haven't been this scared since the time I went to the London Dungeons when I was an infant ten years ago. Bravo Frictional Games, bravo.
