I'll admit, this game is O.K. Unfortunatlley, there are so many issues that are so easy to fix, but the dev couldn't bebothered. So I'm going to go over those first.
For one, every time you start up the game, it takes like 3 minutes to get through all the cutscenic crap, then when you die and restart, same thing.
That wouldn't be a complaint if you didn't die every 2 minutes.(Not joking or exagerating.) You get 5 HP that is quickly depleted from cheap enemies.
As far as I can tell, there is no level up or anything,(That's clear, there might be, but I've not noticed.) so you'll get much farther by avioding all enemies and getting the key.
It keeps showing me the same hints every playthrough, which is !@$%ing annoying.
You can't move and attack, making combat impossible. You can only attack the direction facing, which means turning and attacking or attacking and walking backward are impossible.
There is a difference between a game being difficult,(Risk of Rain, Vertical Drop Heroes, etc) and a game being unfair. This is not only unfair, but borderline ridicoulos. Risk Of Rain, gave you all the sufficient tools to have a good playthrough, this game says screw you. You can survive 4 attacks, and that's it. It is so extremly rare to find more health or extra slots, that it might as well not be there.
Then, on top of that, your rank drops from dying. But some attacks are simply inevideble. For example, sometimes if you open a crate, a giant spike comes out. There is no way to predict it, and no way to avoid it using melee attacks.ON TO THE GOOD!
Well, there is as much here, unfortunatlley
The game is fun, once you get past all those issues. It will take a while to master the gun, becuase god knows you can't fight a boss with the sword.
The graphics are kind of cool, and it feels satifying to break a crate.
The sounds aren't too bad, I think the player hurt noise is stolen from Zelda, but overall the sound is pretty good.
But, as the final bad note, don't expect the bad to ever be fixed. I tried this so many times and the dev kept avoiding the question, so I made a raicy post that ended up getting me banned from the forum.
Here was the post:After I went back and played Donkey Kong a while back, I realised that the game is very hard after stage 2...
And everyone who gave the game a down review has talked about the same issues that you seem to ignore. You can't honestly tell me that after playing 500+ builds of this game you didn't notice the issues everyone talks about.
I hear 'Ignore the haters.' alot now, but that is not something that you should do. And quite clearly you are. Alot of these 'haters' have valid reasons to hate, and smart devs listen to the haters and fix the problems. (Panic Arts for example)
So there are one of two things going on here.
You either know of these quite common problems, and ignore them,
or you have your head so far stuck up your ♥♥♥ that you can't see these problems.
The thing to consider is that I was arguing over these issues for a while previous. And then the dev said this to me before banning me.Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated and welcomed, personal insults are not. I never thought I'd have to ban someone from this forum.
It's debateble weather what I said was a personal insult or not, In my opinion, it wasn't. I said that he either couldn't see these rather daunting problems because he has his head up his ***, or he ignores them.
So don't expect these issues fixed, but the game itself is O.K.
