Explore a living tableau filled with references to the legendary tale and enjoy the moonlit serenity of a fatal night in the orient. Fatale offers an experimental play experience that stimulates the imagination and encourages multiple interpretations and personal associations.

Fatale is played through first person 3D navigation but its controls were designed to minimize the risk of motion sickness. As a result, it may appear somewhat unconventional to the seasoned gamer. ASWD + mouselook navigation can be enabled in the Options menu.

Salome is a first century Judean princess mentioned in the Christian Bible by Matthew and by Mark. But it is Oscar Wilde's 19th century play Salome that really inspired Fatale. In the Bible, Salome is a child who dances for King Herod and asks the head of John the Baptist as a reward. In Wilde's version, Salome falls in love with the prophet. He rejects her and she has him executed. The play ends with her kissing the lips of his decapitated head.

Most of Fatale takes place in the aftermath of this event, when all has turned quiet and the moon brings comfort to troubled hearts.

How to play Fatale:

  • The Cistern: Think of Fatale as a role playing game. We will leave it to your imagination who you are playing. You find yourself in a prison. And the distant sound of music plays overhead.
  • The Terrace: On the terrace your experience is disembodied.
  • FLY: Clicking with the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON you can move forward.
  • RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON: Lets you travel backwards. You will see things differently if you hold either of the mouse buttons down.
  • FLOAT: Use the MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON you float freely forward.
  • CONTROL: Hold down the SPACEBAR to bring up the aureola. This is your inventory of scenes you can revisit and interact with. Click the letters to return to a still scene. If a space is blank, clicking on it becomes a hint to where you should travel next.
  • EXAMINE: The lights on the terrace invite you to block them out. From scene to scene, you have various options for interaction. Your cursor keys pan the view, click & drag allows for camera rotation, and sometimes rolling over or clicking items in these scenes can lead to surprising results.
  • EXPLORE: Above all, since this experience makes few demands, take your time. Notice the small details. Listen to the whispers and echoes. Therein, lies the joy. Allow yourself to fall in love with Salome, now you have all the time in the world.
  • The Dance: An epilogue which appears on restart after each complete playthrough.
  • ESC: If you need help, the ESC key leads you to a summary of context and controls.

Афигенная игра от афигенной студии tale of tales , в этой игре прийдется думать , в ней много цитат из уальда. Игру не советую брать тем кто не знает про эту студию так как просто не поймет игру

Студия знаменита тем , что сделала такие игры как the path , fatale , graveyard
Мне нравится еще , что их игры всегда радуют глаз , музыкальным сопровождением и всегда доступной ценой , их игры напоминают о проблемах человечества в той или иной степени ..

When i think of the developers of this "game", a couple words come to mind: thieves, pickpockets, bums. If you are going to flush your money away, you will get more value wiping your ♥♥♥ with the money than buying this pile of crap. I suppose the game can be an example of what not to do in a game. Don't give us a character to play. Don't give us a challenge. And please don't give us a lot to do. In this busy world, anything more than 2 hours of game play is a waste. Right? Forget those games like Fallout 3 or Skyrim that give you hundreds of hours of things to do. No need to play challenging games like Darksouls. This game has only one challenge: finding the point. Fatale is nihilism encapsuled in a game: nothing to achieve, nothing to do, nothing to be.

Fatale - нельзя назвать игрой в обычном, привычном для геймеров понимании. Это набор образов взятый из мифов, цитать взятых из Уальда. Это точечное покалыание по вашему воображению стимулирующее мысли. Это пьеса. В нее можно не окунаться с голоой, но она заставит вас метаться призраком в прямом и переносном смысле. Это арт-хаус в чистом виде. И я люблю эту игру именно за ее долбящий по голове от начала и до конца символизм.

Summary: Explore a 3D diorama of the tale of Salome from the New Testament.

Pros:
- The scene in the cistern is oozing with atmosphere.

Cons:
- There is little instruction regarding the mechanic (orb gathering) that advances the plot, which itself is obtrusive and unintuitive.
- The 3D models are average.

Neutral Points:
- As the summary suggests, you do little but manipulate the camera to look at stuff. This isn't a game, so make sure you're informed before buying it.
- Biblical quotes that pop-up are less meaningful unless you are familiar with the tale of Salome (or religious).
- The motion-captured dance in the epilogue is rather generic. Some people may like it but I've seen too many similar high school performances to be impressed.

This is not a game. It doesn't play like a game. Do not buy this expecting a "progression", or puzzles, or a clear and obvious story. If you're wanting a vide-game, I don't recommend that you buy this at all.

This more like a small art exhibit. Like the description states, it is intended as a "living tableau". If you're willing to pay $7.00 to see an interactive art exhibit inspired by the story of John the Baptist, Salome and the Dance of the Seven Veils, then buy this and enjoy. If you're looking for a video game to play and win, I don't recommend purchasing this.

Fatale is still my favorite, I said it’s a powerful poem when I first played it years ago. And they updated it this year make it has another feeling, more emphasis on the text by Oscar Wilde, more understanding the story. I appreciate they updated those old artworks, it made me think they still keep their early ideas of making digital artworks, though I know they’re going to change under the big pressure of contemporary game circles (obviously they put themselves in a wrong place, even I feel the pressure writing this review, too many people rate down and give negative comments. )

Fatale is belongs to those “serious, deep and sad things” I always like. It’s nearly perfect, but yes it’s horrible.
(I played in off-line mode, so the play time should be 3hrs)

I love all of ToT's artworks (actually there is no favorite one), constanly searching for this kind of things, I find myself in a wrong place too.

Fatale это жаркий микс из Библии, Уайльда и Поп-культуры.
Вы примерите на себя роль Иоана Крестителя.До его трагической кончины(ожидая казни в мрачной темнице) и после, в состоянии эфимерном(наблюдая за красавицей Саломеей)
Интересная особенность игры в том, что здесь присутствуют элементы современного быта(вроде плееров, спичек или летних теннисных туфель)Можно догадаться, что авторы таким образом частично переносят историю мужчины, опьяненного любовью, и алчной, жестокой женщины в наше время, рассказывая историю удивительной человеческой природы.

Не назову это даже игрой.Вы должны увидеть это сами, чтобы понять, о чем я говорю.

Довольно-таки неплохая и необычная игра. Но сложно назвать ее игрой, ибо это больше похоже на какую-то пьесу, чем на игру. Да, в ней, безусловно, есть игровая часть, но эта не динамичная.
Чтобы лучше понять эту игру, нужно прочитать пьесу Оскара Уайльда "Саломея", реплики из которой игрок видит на протяжении всей первой сцены, причем, как и стоило ожидать от Tale of Tales, реплики эти поданы весьма необычно.

It's "art."

I have no problems, nay, I *love* artistic games.

Except this isn't a game. It's hardly even interactive art.

It's just..."art". The kind of art that needs quotations around it.

Not a game.

This isn't a game. This is some kind of pretentious interactive experience with obtuse narrative and no goal at all. It's just about 30 minutes of roaming around two places, reading a few texts and completing one minigame. It tries to tell a story, yes, but it's terrible at it.

Technically is also quite terrible, but that doesn''t even matter. It could have Crysis 3 graphics, and still would be terribly annoying.

If you wanna try it, bear in mind that this is not a game, and wait until it's on sale. Then it will still be a pretentious waste, but a cheap pretentious waste.

I got this exploration game because of "The Path" being an awesome game and the screenshots look gorgeous in "Fatale". Apparently, my high expectations for this was shut down with wonky controls and nothing much to explore within the landscape. Yes, the scenery was beautiful, yet that's just about it. This could have had more potential...but apparently this potential wasn't what this was going for. If you miss picking up this game on Steam, then don't worry about it. It's one of those games that would go in the garbage bin and no one would care for it.

I saw a link that said, "None of your friends have played this game. Tell them why they should". My answer to that is they shouldn't. I can think of better wastes of money, and seriously, if you wanna see the boobs in this game that badly, you can look at them for free on the FATALE Steam forum homepage because, ironically enough, every person who has played this game and claims it's "SOOO DEEP OMG YOU C4n'T UNDERsTAnD" have considerately taken it upon themselves to post pictures of said deep boobs from every single angle imaginable within the game.

While turning Wilde's "Salome" into a short art video game might seem like a strange undertaking, I think the play's thematic content could provide enough material to merit worthwhile exploration via the language of game mechanics. However, FATALE's message is ultimately muddled. Rather than grabbing onto the play's theme most suited to exploration in video game form (e.g. its obsession with the danger of "looking" and its positioning of the aesthetic gaze as, paradoxically, both creative/reverent and destructive/dehumanizing), FATALE instead spends most of its 20 minute running time on plot and a conceptually murky sequence where the player extinguishes candles on a static 3D tableau.

Thus, ultimately the game plays like a hollow bit of 3D diorama--with the candles just being an excuse to get the player to look at different parts of the scene. An interesting and often pretty experiment, but ultimately vague and underwhelming, both as a game and as a commentary on Wilde's play.

A very calming game that doesn't really have alot to it, its more of an account of history then a game. The simple puzzles are simple. The artwork in the game is interesting. The music is very nice to listen to and very Arabic. There are 3 levels to this game and each level has its own thing it does. The Exploring Salome is about the Daughter of Herodias who was queen of Chalcis and Armenia Minor. The name Salome means "peace" in Hebrew. Salome is a first century Judean princess mentioned in the Christian Bible by Matthew and by Mark. B. In the Bible, Salome is a child who dances for King Herod and asks the head of John the Baptist as a reward. Most of Fatale takes place in the aftermath of this event, when all has turned quiet and the moon brings comfort to troubled hearts. The overall game is wonderful and very tastefully creative.

Ehm, what the *%&# was this??! I've no idea what I just spent less than an hour with, but its not a puzzle game, nor is it an adventure or any normal kind of storytelling game. Maybe its just its own strange genre? It doesnt really matter because it was uberboring. It got a 1 for the music.

Tale of Tales, developer of masterpieces such as The Graveyard, Bientôt l’été, and The Path, has once again invented a simply ingenious, unique, and spiritualistic piece of art with FATALE. Their endless ambition and imagination can easily be seen with the amount of care they put into their projects. They are simply a once in a lifetime experience, and for all the effort that Tale of Tales puts into their work, the payoff is almost infinite.

For instance, as of this writing, Tale of Tales has priced The Graveyard at a fair $4.99, and it takes less than 20 minutes to complete the game in its entirety. I actually managed to beat Bientôt l’été in a whopping 80 minutes, and it's priced at only $9.99. With FATALE, at only $6.99 , it took me a very fulfilling half hour to reach the end. What amazing value!

Meanwhile there are developers who think they can hock games such as The Binding of Isaac for an exorbitant $4.99, of which I've only managed to squeeze over 50 hours of gameplay and I haven't even completed the game yet. What a joke.

Don't forget that Tale of Tales introduces highly intuitive controls with each iteration of magnificent gaming art. Thank god I can now only move my head while holding the left-mouse button, which also causes me to walk forward at the same time. I could never understand wanting to keep still while being able to freely look by solely moving the mouse around. Primitive WASD scheme is completely thrown out the door, and good riddance. Half-Life 2 has nothing on FATALE when it comes to traditional game mechanics.

If you haven't done so already, you simply owe it to yourself to play every single one of Tale of Tales' amazing artworks. It's like trying to suck your own ♥♥♥♥ and failing, but that small glimmer of hope is the only thing that motivates you to continue trying. Just once more inch.

Until you break your neck.

Then you definitely know it was all worth it.
