Early Access Update 8.6

8月15日

A minor maintenance update, it mostly fixes a couple of small issues and adds expanded credits.

Features/changes
  • Smoothed the player character movement across frames - addresses camera judder when framerate and physics rate are close but drift slightly out of sync, causing the game to look like it was struggling when it was not. Should also offer a visual improvement to anyone running the game at high (eg. 120htz) refresh rates.
  • Expanded Credits

Fixes
  • Fixed an issue that was sometimes causing mines to spawn with shutdown applied
  • Mines now immediately detonate when falling down holes while shutdown
  • Mines don't leave their shutdown ring behind when they fall down holes
  • Boss Rush - fixed powerups and battery incorrectly displaying their icons when Justice's stage appears
  • Vespula - destroying a wasp on the same frame as destroying Vespula is no long able to increment chain counter

Known Issues
  • When starting the game with "-popupwindow" in order to play in full screen windowed mode (in Windows) you will not be able to set the game to fullscreen mode, but the options menu does not reflect this
  • Native Dual Shock 3 support in OSX is busted. It is possible to work around it using a control remapper that makes the DS3 to emulate an xbox pad or similar, and we are working on a proper fix
  • Shadows are missing on certain integrated videocards under Linux
  • Native Steam Controller support still coming soon
  • Aubergine's singularity effect looks different on Linux. Functionality is fine, it's just distorting the screen in the wrong direction. Been tricky to figure out...

Early Access Update 8.5!

Infinity Drive has been extremely well received, so much so I decided to prioritise the art pass so people can play a more finished version of it. Normally I wouldn't consider a weeks work a .5 update, but what a week! I'm about ready to collapse...

There have been some tuning changes at the higher levels and Jeff has reworked the Infinity Drive soundtrack, so please enjoy the new and improved mode!

Features/changes
  • Art Dressing for Infinity Drive
  • Tuning adjustments to higher levels of Infinity Drive, as we anticipate this will allow higher scores going forwards, we haven't reset the leaderboard
  • Shiitake's railgun and Starch's laser have had their range extended

Fixes
  • Fixed Aubergine's Singularity Launcher firing through certain walls
  • Took another attempt at fixing wasps getting stuck on top of blocks. Apologies for this lingering, it's a strangely complex problem!
  • Fixed a couple of Character Select animations that weren't looping
  • Fixed formatting on Infinity Drive's end screen so it supports a 5:4 ratio, y'know, for anyone playing Cactus on a square...

Known Issues

Assault Android Cactus is a manic twin stick shooter for one to four players combining arcade style action with hordes of enemies and transforming stages.

Junior Constable Cactus is outside her pay grade when she responds to a distress call only to be left stranded on a crippled space freighter under attack by its own robot workers. But using her wits, unlimited ammunition and the fellow androids she is able to conscript along the way, she will save the ship or run down her battery trying!





  • Multiple Playable Characters - Each android has a unique weapon set and play style, experiment to find which android suits you best.
  • Dynamic Levels - From lights out to shifting walls to giant flamethrowers, there are surprises on board the Genki Star that will keep you on your toes.
  • Overwhelming Odds - Push back against hordes of robots with quick reactions and clever weapon tactics.
  • Giant Robot Bosses - Challenge the guardian of each deck as they unleash bullet hell and stage covering special attacks.
  • Local Co-Op Play - Join in with two, three or four players and experience escalating chaos. Supports Keyboard/Mouse and Gamepad configurations.





Assault Android Cactus is not a finished game but it's still a lot of fun to play! Here's what's in the game right now and what's left to come :

  • 15 Finished stages including the first 3 Boss stages
  • 7 Whitebox levels (functional gameplay, unfinished graphics)
  • 20 enemy types not counting Bosses, covering a vast range of behaviour
  • Infinity Drive survive as long as you can against escalating waves in an adapting environment
  • Boss Rush currently contains our first three bosses, fight them back to back
  • Online Leaderboards for all stages and modes

  • Full Campaign - A 25 level Campaign including 5 bosses and intro/outro cutscenes
  • Unlockable Character - We are putting the finishing touches on our last playable character and look forwards to her appearing in the game soon!
  • Rewards System & Bonus Content - Earn rewards points for clearing levels and unlock concept art and EX Options like Retro Camera mode and see the game in a whole new way!
  • Steam Integration - support for cloud saves, achievements and trading cards
  • Custom Controls - remapping for control pads & Keyboard/Mouse, Steam Controller support
  • Polish - more animations, finished stage art, finished enemy textures and improved effects

良いゲームです。シューティング、スコアアタックなどにピンと来る方は是非。

ゲームシステム自体は左スティックで移動、右スティックで照準といったわりとオーソドックスな全方位シューティングです。
このタイプのゲームはGeometry Warsなどが有名ですが、このゲームは敵弾に当たっても一発アウトではなくライフ制なのである程度は敵弾にあたっても大丈夫で、ダメージを受けずに入れば自動回復します。PVでは弾幕シューティングのように見えなくもないですが弾幕要素は薄めです。
そのため敵からひたすら逃げ回りつつ攻撃すれば結構簡単にノーミスノーダメージでステージクリアすることができるため、クリアをするだけなら比較的難易度は高くありません。

しかしこのゲームの面白いところはチェインによるスコアシステムにあります。複数の敵を短時間で倒すとチェインがつながって、より大きいスコアをスコアを手に入れる事ができます。よくある普通のシステムではあるのですが、このゲームは敵の硬さや数、敵の出現タイミングなどが絶妙で、必ず1つのステージ内の敵はすべてチェインすることができるようになっています(多分)。もう少しでチェインが切れそう…と思ったちょうどよいタイミングで敵が出現しチェインがギリギリつながったり、強い敵の懐に飛び込んで密着して攻撃し捨て身の覚悟で強引にチェインをつなげたりといったギリギリ感が非常に面白いです。単にクリアするだけなら簡単(ボス戦を除く)なのですが、すべてのステージでS+ランクをとろうとすると途端に難易度が上がり敵の出現タイミングや攻撃の順番などを考えながら攻略する必要があります。かと言って難しくなりすぎるわけではなく、ちゃんとクリアの仕方がわかっていれば難易度は大幅に下がります。

キャラクターは少し芋臭いですが、ゲームをしていれば徐々に愛着が湧いてきます。キャラクターごとの性能もバランスが良く、バリエーションがあって楽しいです(隠しキャラもいます)。いわゆるバランスブレイカーな強キャラが存在せず、どのキャラクターにも一長一短あり、ステージの構成に合わせたキャラクターを選んでクリアしていくことになるかと思います。もちろん自分の好きなキャラクターだけで全ステージを攻略するのも一考ですし、あるステージでは全く役に立たないキャラでも別のステージでは大活躍したりと、どのキャラを使うか、考えるのも楽しいです。

全体的にバランスがとても良いゲームだなという印象を受けました。全ステージをクリアするまでなら数時間で終わりますが、全ステージS+ランクを取るには何時間かかるかわかりません。S+を取るには一度もチェインを途切れさせずにつなげる必要があるので結構難しいかもしれないです。

見た目で少し損をしているかもしれないゲームですが、多くの人に触れてほしいと思えるゲームでした。今後が楽しみです。

Very fun score attack game made by some of the nicest people you will ever meet. It is very faced paced and the battery mechanic that slowly drains the entirety of the maps that requires a recharge to stay alive adds on a fun mechanic and a bit of stress to the game since you simply cannot just take your time and sneak through the levels easy. Get ready to go down a ton, but with a bunch of practice you can start S+'ing levels like crazy and find yourself becoming quickly addicted. Awesome characters to select from, each character has a unique weapon set to make the game a different experience each time you play through it with someone else. This game rocks.. you'll be glad when you play it.. and tell your friends about it too!

Normally, I wouldn't encourage the buying of an early access. This one is TOTALLY worth it.. in it's current state. I freaking LOVE THIS GAME! :) Awesome amounts of fun... FAST Game Play all and all a good time!
