Vad utvecklarna har att säga:

Varför Early Access?

“Early Access allows us to involve the community from early on in the project, meaning the players very much help shape the game. This allows us to make decisions based on what the community wants. After all, we are making the game for them, not only for ourselves.”

Ungefär hur länge kommer det här spelet att vara i Early Access?

“The game is planned for release in the the second half of 2015.”

Hur är det tänkt att den fullständiga versionen ska skilja sig från versionen i Early Access?

“Until the game leaves Early Access, it's likely that it will feature some unpleasant bugs or confusing features. With final release, we aim to deliver a more streamlined experience, including tutorials and fixes for bugs and issues the community reports via our Feedback Tracker website."”

Hur är det nuvarande läget i versionen med Early Access?

“At present, Take On Mars is in the Beta development stage. It means that the game should not dramatically change in terms of gameplay possibilities, but we will keep adding new content and features during the Beta stage”

Kommer spelet att prissättas annorlunda under och efter Early Access?

“We intend to slightly increase the price upon the release.”

Hur planerar ni att involvera gemenskapen i er utvecklingsprocess?

“We listen to your feedback and we aim for very open communication. While we sometimes need to prioritize, we take the ideas and suggestions of our community very seriously. As an example, the entire robotic section of the Space Program mode was completely overhauled from a linear set of missions to sandbox style progression where technologies determine which missions are available.”

Take On Mars attains Power Update

Hello everyone!

To reinforce the Early Access astronauts on Mars, we just released the Power Update for Take On Mars. The highlight of the new Power Up update is the addition of power simulation (electricity) to the game. That means you can produce solar arrays to generate power, and build a functional electric grid to power up machinery and buildings.

Machinery, such as the drilling rig, and buildings can be connected to the electric grid via a newly added cable spool, which holds up to 50m worth of cables. These cables can be connected to special wall panels that contain power sockets and/or the power connection points on equipment. The cables are also physically simulated, meaning you can print a spool of 5 cables, and then unwind them from the spool, and physically drag them across the floor, connecting the ends.

Besides that, there have been many, many fixes and improvements. We sincerely hope you all enjoy the new content, and look forward to your feedback!

Kind and sincere regards,

Martin Melicharek
Project Lead

The new power simulation feature is further demonstrated in a brand new Take On Mars teaser trailer:

Look, I like this game so much, I played it a lot with friends we built a huge base, never ended up really finishing it. It's a great game but it really hasn't taken off, the community isn't very large and its pretty much dead the state its in.

IMO, I got quite a bit out of it, however, it was supposed to be in 1.0 in june. Which is understandable, because Bohemia are working on 2 other games which are Arma 3 (which is going to launch a DLC in about april or something) and DayZ. But bohemia's system of working on games makes progress really slow. If they were going to work on 3 games at once they are probably going to need a bigger crew.

But really, I'd recommend the game if progress was a lot faster, in which in this case it's not then I can't recommend Take on mars with the state it's in. If it was not in this type of state then i'd probably recommend it. But that's not the scenario.

I found this game very enjoyable. Although it can be slow in progress, the scenarios and actual gameplay is incredibly realistic.

If you want to feel like "The Martian" then this is the game for it.

PROS:

SO, Their i was..

I Don't even know how to charectorize this game, simply incredible, and im surprised its not being shown to NASA or Space-x as a sim for space exploration and psychological study of our prime canadites we are sending on the MSL project (Mars Science Lab). This sim is so realistic in every way, from the rad counts and how solar flaires happen, all the way to airlock seals and intricate grid systems, i mean, even the solar panels get more dusty in storms.. This doesn't seem sci-fi at all, but more sim realistic..

the single player campain has a full training system, vehicles, and what not to teach you about the controls of all the diffrent vehicles and what have you. The construction lab where you build your own rover, the tech tree of diffrent teirs to unlock depending on how much funding you got with successful missions, and even the wiki information thats ACCURATE on current findings as you explore the missions.watching the sky crane or landing sequences, or even the total destruction or even partial one that can happen if you really mess something up..You can sample the dirt, drill, take atmospheric readings, its just nothing short of content rich filled exploration.. thats just chapter one...

The multiplayer works as well, and building with friends? theirs nothing like it. They GIVE YOU the engine tools to build models or import them from other graphic programs, the workshop community is vast, and even the scenarios, the scenarios are fun, never the same no matter how you play.

those pictures posted? IS ACTUAL GAMEPLAY. Its that pretty.

CONS:
Being in early access, the lack of dedicated server support, and sometimes the infintile lag on certain maps is horrible, but happens rarely, when I find this happens, you will need to start a new map to get rid of it, but again, this is early access. Their are some random crashes, however those are related to engine problems that are activley being worked on at the time of this writting. The game could use an auto save feature option in it that the user can toggle.

Good job developers, coming from a guy that swore off of early access games, i gave you a shot, and so far your not disappointing. please don't with the official build :)

Great game, a little bit tedius but still good fun and relaxing. The tediuness is because is in early access and all the bugs, problems and item are not be fixed or implemented completely yet! But still is a very good game.
The Primary Campain (Exploration) is complete but is a bit tedius for some players... Nearly everyone I spoke is waiting for the Manned Campain, and that means living on the Moon, Asteroids, in Orbit and Mars! The Tutorial is just ok, but is not fully clear how to do things, so for some players it may be a steap curve learning,

I will raccomend this game for 2 reasons: First the beauty of living in space, orbit or planets, the second is the stunning effect you can see and ability to construct nearly everything you want!

I will not raccomend this game for everyone, because it has no real continuous action, unless it is an scripted event. Let me explain in ditails: You can do almost everything, but the are moments where you cannot do nothing until the resources or event finish or trigger, like if you have set up your base and started the resources, sometimes the only thing you can do is do something that you really not need for the next mission or the one you are doing, like looking for more drops, that you cannot use at the end of a scenario to the next (Unless the devs change that in the final release).

Still is great to see Bohemia Interactive have great ideas for games and have the guts to takle a game like this brilliantly!
