Om dette spil

Daedalic Entertainment, once called “Lucasarts from Germany“ by the GameStar magazine, invites the players into a fantastic comedy adventure that revolves around a crazy love story of Rufus and Goal.

In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a vast garbage dump, in which the crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence. He is part of the lowest social class, doomed to live his life in literal mountains of trash. He hopes for an opportunity to get into the world of the rich, who live in a floating city high above the clouds. Fate seems to smile on the snotty good-for-nothing when one day the attractive lady named Goal from the higher sector plummets into one of the trash heaps. Rufus decides to help the young woman out by taking her back to her husband. When he notices that Goal's husband is a dead ringer for himself, he hatches a diabolical scheme to gain access to the upper world. However, things don't work out quite as planned, since he has feelings for the beauty which limits his usual unscrupulousness.

Help Rufus, the poor boy from the junkyard, to win over the girl from heaven. Only with this rich girl from his dreams he might be able to escape Deponia and, unexpectedly, to save the planet.

Key Features:

  • Unique comic style with hand-drawn HD resolution 2D graphics

This is a fun game but not without flaws. I had a couple of game breaking bugs so remember to save often. The art style is fantastic and supports the humor of the game. If you are not a fan of the old style of point and click adventure games with rub every item against everything in order to progress it's going to be somewhat annoying. Overall I recommend this game for it's funny story and the art, but keep in mind to save often.

The epitome of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t adventure game logic, in a beautiful and inventive world where it feels right at home. The characters are well realized and entertaining and the puzzles are difficult at times but fair.

Lots of backtracking, same old environment the entire game, it gets tiresome pretty fast. The puzzles are of those that makes no sense either which i dont like. I dont want to rely on luck just to be able to advance, But if you dont mind that then i guess its an ok point n klick adventure!

I call it tedium. If you aren't the thinkin' type, you might call it a challenge. Just because a game is geared towards children doesn't mean it has to cater to dullards - at least, I think it's geared towards children. If it isn't, then, well, it's worse than I thought.

I LOVE games with stories like this, I really do. But I always get stuck for the silliest things. Like in order to progress you need certain items to unlock certain puzzles, even though in reality it's more then likely you could do without those items. But NO, the puzzle requires you to have it or you can't continue onwards... I dont know man, I've outgrown point & click games I think.

Just too many times it stops your progress for some arbitrary puzzle and just too many times I'm stuck for hours at it. You can consider this review as "Yes, I recommend this game" if you actually really enjoy point&click games, otherwise, skip it.

Aside from the fact that some puzzle solutions can be quite far fetched sometimes, Deponia is one of the most entertaining point & click titles we've seen in the last couple of years. It's very hard not to play this game with a big smile on your face because of Rufus and his idiotic actions.

REVIEW
Deponia is a highly entertaining point-and-click misadventure with lovable characters, an interesting world, and wacky humor. If you like adventure games and goofy narratives, then look no further. It should be a pretty easy game to enjoy for most fans of the genre.

The crazy characters and zany game-world combined with the pleasing art style and soundscape make Deponia charming and atmospheric. This alluring ambiance is definitely the backbone of the game. And as everything else falls into place, the overall presentation of the game just exudes an aura of “enjoyability” that is hard to defy.

Interestingly, the music and sound effects really play a much larger than usual role in the establishment of the ambiance. Relatedly, even the voice-acting in this game is not only well above the standard for the genre, but also objectively well performed. The end result shows how these elements can really help elevate the overall presentation of a game when they’re handled with care.

As far as gameplay goes: it is pretty standard for the genre. The puzzles are decently challenging and mostly fair; although some of the solutions don’t really make sense in terms of real-world thinking. You must remember to think in terms of the wacky logic of the game-world when solving puzzles. Sometimes it can be a little frustrating because it is hard to think like that. I suppose that if you get truly flabbergasted, you could always check a guide. Regardless of how you make it past the confusing parts, the rest of the presentation of the game is well worth experiencing.

So if you are a fan of point-and-click games, Deponia should be a good bet for you. You definitely should beware of the outside-the-box (inside-the-game) logic, but in my opinion, it is one of the features of the game that makes it unique and worth playing.

hahaha you want to have a good time with your friend? play this game while drinking.

most of all the artstyle is soo good, perfect for a point and click game and the theme of the game itself,Garbage land.
Voice over is also superb, dialogs are interesting and the story is CRAZY WEIRD hahaha But I love it.

the only thing I don't like, the Answers to the Puzzle are not logical(trial and error most of the time),and oh my gawdd! the things that you can interact with are soo hard to find(if you're not using the Thingy finder)

soo honestly, it's kinda hard to recomend :p but if you're just looking a crazy Point and Click game, try this one.(hahaha and enjoy the Voice over conversation)

I've played a great deal of point and click games in my life, and this series definitely is at the top of my list. The dialogue/monologue is well thought out, witty, and funny many times. The story is absolutely amazing in my opinion. Game mechanics are great. I also enjoyed the soundtracks of the game a great deal as well. Overall, the best point and click game you could possibly buy.

Coming from a background of Spy Fox games and other point and click adventures, Deponia is a great series with plenty of puzzles and excruciatingly interesting plot. If you like any of the Humongous Entertainment games from your childhood or coming in fresh to the genre or just yearning for a great story overall, I sincerely recommend the Deponia series.

Pros:

The art direction for the game is absoutely enjoyable and unique with everything retaining detail to backgrounds and foregrounds and character design. Simply eye candy.

Soundtrack is astonishingly marvelous, very catchy and not too repetitive like elevator music. Every scene is accompanied by amazing music making the atmosphere pop in any mood or situation.

Deponia is filled with unique and lovable characters, all of them serving a purpose to the game in some way. The main character is a lovable jerk that can be easily attatched to. Plenty of dialogue to compliment the characters as well as the very well done voice acting to top it all off to complete the characters.

The intriguing storyline and plot is probably the best selling point of this game (ofc its an adventure game) along with its great sense of humor. The univerese of the Deponia series was well crafted and it's obvious that the developers poured heart and soul into making Deponia make sense and rotating the cogs of this complicated universe. It serves as a motivation to finish puzzles to get to the end.

Cons:

The puzzles in this game can be either simple, difficult or just frustrating that you want to pull your hairs out. A good chunk of the puzzles are not built on logical reasoning and consists of clicking everywhere until something happens. I've spent a good few hours trying to figure out answers to puzzles that didn't make any sense. Without following a walkthrough or being the luckiest person in the world, you can be easily spending hours upon hours trying to figure out the solutions.

Overall this game is a must play

Had hoped this would be a modern Day of the Tentacle, but no. Main character is fundamentally unlikable. Puzzles solved by randomly clicking on objects. Gave up once I realised I wouldn't solve it without a telepathic link to the developer.

Gorgeous artwork, an ok story
However, absolutely no logic to the puzzles. A bunch of random clicking to try to solve them. I wouldn't have made it as far as I had with out using a tutorial.... Might just watch someone else play it to save time.

Daedalic is no LucasArts, not being backed by some insanely popular moneymaking franchises that rhyme with Mar Bars or Diana Clones. But the LucasArts we knew isn’t coming back, so I suspect it’s a good try it if you’ve got a hankering for that style of gameplay (with a similar amount of difficulty).

In contrast to its clear inspirations found in series such as Monkey Island, it suffers from production iffiness issues such as variable voice acting and animation quality (in the English version, there are some nasty translation-isms throughout, and multiple lines of that sort where they clearly stressed a word in a sentence that wasn’t the one that should have been stressed), as well as an indecisiveness as to what constitutes an appropriate style of fourth-wall breaking.

Much to the game’s credit, however, the setting is a unique junkyard world and the protagonist Rufus (at least at the start) is more the sort of guy you might expect a point-and-click adventure game kleptomaniac vandal to be: a near-irredeemable jerk. Unfortunately, people are all too willing to point this out to his face, which sometimes works in the story’s favor and sometimes doesn’t. Moreover, there are a lot of artistic details in the world that you simply can’t click on and have Rufus snark about, which is something of a must to get a real feel for an adventure game world’s presence.

One thing that is much nicer than typical old-school examples is that you don’t have to do the pixel-hunting if you don’t want to (hold space to see the interactive spots), and most of the time, you don’t have to watch a slow walk animation just to explore the map (double-click to fast forward through navigational arrows).

Finally, the game is kind of crashy in a few spots (at least the Mac version is), so you may want to do some saving on top of the auto-saving. Some achievements are skippable, but at least one achievement guide in the Steam community is relatively spoiler free.

For all its flaws, the game is usually about as funny as it thinks it is, so at least I can say I enjoyed it. Nonetheless, this game has some mature humor, so don’t get too fooled by the cutesy noseless art; it’s not really for kids.

Droggeljug.
