Om dette spil

Daedalic Entertainment, once called “Lucasarts from Germany“ by the GameStar magazine, invites the players into a fantastic comedy adventure that revolves around a crazy love story of Rufus and Goal.

In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a vast garbage dump, in which the crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence. He is part of the lowest social class, doomed to live his life in literal mountains of trash. He hopes for an opportunity to get into the world of the rich, who live in a floating city high above the clouds. Fate seems to smile on the snotty good-for-nothing when one day the attractive lady named Goal from the higher sector plummets into one of the trash heaps. Rufus decides to help the young woman out by taking her back to her husband. When he notices that Goal's husband is a dead ringer for himself, he hatches a diabolical scheme to gain access to the upper world. However, things don't work out quite as planned, since he has feelings for the beauty which limits his usual unscrupulousness.

Help Rufus, the poor boy from the junkyard, to win over the girl from heaven. Only with this rich girl from his dreams he might be able to escape Deponia and, unexpectedly, to save the planet.

deponia is a great game with stellar characters .

rufus
Rufus is the protagonist of deponia, he's a amazing character and a big part of what makes this game so stellar.
rufus is a idiot and he is always cooking up some hair brained scheme to get out of deponia and get in to elysium.
He plays off ever charter well or vise versa, he also cleverly responds to every item you pick up.

game play
The game play is your standard find this object rub it on other object fare, sometimes the puzzles can be smart other times they are just plain dumb, but you can always use the guide or press space to reveal all the items if you are having trouble.

art
the art in this game is amazing the backgrounds are vibrant and detailed and tend to focus on 2 or 3 colors thought this varies fro each one.The charter designs make good use of thick outlines and have a really unique art style.

voice acting
all the voice actors did a realy good job and expressed lots of personalty that really fit with the charters i personally like rufus's VA

level sturture
the frist half of the game put you in a big open world and the second half focused on 2 smaller levels. While to 2 smaller levels where better in the sense that they where more straight forward a downside of this second half is that it had less pepople to talk with

i would highly recomend you get this game and the others as this game ends on kind off a cliff hanger

I want to like this game, I really do. The art design is good, the sound design and voice acting is fine. Overall it's competently implemented and predictable from the perspective of a mid-age mouse-centric adventure, like say Monkey Island 3. But there are a couple of problems.

The easy one is the mechanics. I've been spoiled by more recent adventures like Broken Age that provide sensible shortcuts for getting around, such as running or warping across screens. None of those are present here, which means watching the protagonist Rufus amble infuriatingly slowly across the map. And you'll be doing a lot of that, because the puzzles are often of the logic-free, "lateral-thinking", try-everything-with-everything-else variety that have thankfully become less fashionable these days. The walking in particular annoyed me more than other older games I've been playing such as Broken Sword. How did they manage to be worse than adventure games from almost twenty years ago? Not sure. In any case, dealing with these irritations to push through the game would be easier if it weren't for the second problem, which is the writing.

It tries so hard! But the jokes are either flat or just mean. I recognize the jokes, I just don't really feel like laughing at them. None of the characters are really likeable, the protagonist least of all, so I don't at all feel invested in seeing the story through. As a result, I've done my few hours of play and have given up.

Sorry, Deponia. Close, but not good enough. Perhaps the later games are better, but I'm not willing to play through this one to find out.

A cartoon looking point and click adventure game that allows you to take control of Rufus, a dimwit jerk who uses everyone around him without care.

The story starts off slow and begins to pick up a little bit as you reach the middle of the game, but I still found it lacking even 5 hours in. You play as Rufus, a selfish and slightly empty minded tinkerer who wishes only to leave the junkyard he calls home. Well, the planet he lives on is a junkyard.

I found the characters hard to like and the protagonist even harder to enjoy. He acts like a childish pig and makes for really cringe dialogue when talking to his ex girlfriend.

The puzzles follow little logic, often being very hard to follow and require the use of a walkthrough if you don't want to go insane. I've found many other reviews complain about this problem too, and it really put me off.
I found trying to finish this game was a chore.

It does have neat graphics that are fun to look at, and silly humour that will give you a little giggle here and there.

I got it on sale, and I would recommend avoiding the full price as the game is too short (around 8-10 hours for first playthrough) and has little replayability.
