Workaround Blocker Listening Post

Hi all,

as some of you have already reported there is a mean blocker in Deponia. Some of you are trapped at the listening post because the game doesn’t allow you to leave the scene although it should. This means that the arrow is missing that would guide you to the next screen. This problems appears if you used the waiting number ticket with Lotti at the post office before. This action brings up the blocker at the listening post.

[In some rare cases this action leads to another blocker where the guide bold isn’t activated, too.]

What to do now?

A: Reload an old savegame and play again until you meet Lotti and then don’t use the waiting number ticket with Lotti. Instead you can use the dialogue option “Is it my turn now?” and get the same answer as for the ticket.

B: If you don’t want to play again or don’t have an old savegame just send us an email via support@daedalic.de to get a new savegame.

What we do next?

We are working on a patch and we’ll let you know asap when this one is going live. Until then we ask for your patience.

Thank you!

Best,
Your Daedalic Team

A fantastic adventure game, featuring some extremely intelligent riddles that require deep thinking. At the same time, it narrates a beautiful story, one that takes place in a setting very different than those of most games.

Highly recommended for those who are achievement ♥♥♥♥♥s. You can get every single one of them through the game, just remind yourself to check the game's guide to make sure how to get some secret ones.

If you like point-and-click game, be sure to play Deponia, you won't be disappointed. Since I normally don't get the feeling of 'adventure' from some point-and-click games other than 'boring'; I did get it from Deponia. The art, the voice acting and the animation are fascinated, making the game more enjoyable. I didn't skip the cut scenes even once. The story and the characters are well designed. I enjoyed the story so much that I played them right away after I bought the game, non-stop through the end. The main character is a complete jerk, but also an opposite somehow, and that's why he's the most interesting one. There are also mini games which are fun to solve. And how you can combine items you find through the story is freakin' cool. Of how cool it is, I just can't spoil you unless you play it yourself.

Plus, you will be surprised how Deponia, the planet covered in trashes, can create such an environment you'll grow to love.

So, I bought this game durring a sale and thought to myself: "Oh, this will just be a fun little game to pass the time with, I don't need all three." I WAS WRONG! This game is truly fabulous and has many briliant puzzles to solve. It trains your mind to observe your surroundings to make the most of what you have and to think outside the box. Along with cleverly writen diolouge and an amazing story line, all I can say is: buy this game! It is worth it.

Deponia sets new standards for the genre, some bad and some good.

Pros: Graphics, Sound, Controls
Cons: Gameplay, Characters, Performance

Deponia's hand-drawn graphics suit the colorful, cluttered setting perfectly and the voice acting is excellent. The simple controls work well, but perfect controls should be mandatory for any point-and-click game.

However, the gameplay is unfortunately rather standard for the genre with goofy puzzles (wasabi pea on mousetrap to catch toothbrush, duh!). The main protagonist is completely insufferable and there is some lightly disguised sexism (don't agree? let me switch your brainchip). Lastly, there are performance and gameplay bugs that shouldn't exist in as simple a game as this.

Perhaps a no-brainer for point-and-click fans but a cluttered mess for most everyone else.

Daedalic is no LucasArts, not being backed by some insanely popular moneymaking franchises that rhyme with Mar Bars or Diana Clones. But the LucasArts we knew isn’t coming back, so I suspect it’s a good try it if you’ve got a hankering for that style of gameplay (with a similar amount of difficulty).

In contrast to its clear inspirations found in series such as Monkey Island, it suffers from production iffiness issues such as variable voice acting and animation quality (in the English version, there are some nasty translation-isms throughout, and multiple lines of that sort where they clearly stressed a word in a sentence that wasn’t the one that should have been stressed), as well as an indecisiveness as to what constitutes an appropriate style of fourth-wall breaking.

Much to the game’s credit, however, the setting is a unique junkyard world and the protagonist Rufus (at least at the start) is more the sort of guy you might expect a point-and-click adventure game kleptomaniac vandal to be: a near-irredeemable jerk. Unfortunately, people are all too willing to point this out to his face, which sometimes works in the story’s favor and sometimes doesn’t. Moreover, there are a lot of artistic details in the world that you simply can’t click on and have Rufus snark about, which is something of a must to get a real feel for an adventure game world’s presence.

One thing that is much nicer than typical old-school examples is that you don’t have to do the pixel-hunting if you don’t want to (hold space to see the interactive spots), and most of the time, you don’t have to watch a slow walk animation just to explore the map (double-click to fast forward through navigational arrows).

Finally, the game is kind of crashy in a few spots (at least the Mac version is), so you may want to do some saving on top of the auto-saving. Some achievements are skippable, but at least one achievement guide in the Steam community is relatively spoiler free.

For all its flaws, the game is usually about as funny as it thinks it is, so at least I can say I enjoyed it. Nonetheless, this game has some mature humor, so don’t get too fooled by the cutesy noseless art; it’s not really for kids.
