Mars, 2044. The UN establishes MARSCORP (Martian Security and Economics Committee) under the leadership of Samuel Longwood. In the years that follow, the UN gradually loses control of MARSCORP, mainly due to the non-transparent licence policy of its director. Longwood uses his autonomous status to create vassal relations between the corporations and MARSCORP. The unshakable power position of MARSCORP is supported by the companies and thus they acquire additional rights and licenses. Longwood and his consortium become extremely wealthy from this arrangement. However, dissenting voices in MARSCORP begin to challenge Samuel Longwood's authoritarian policy. They demand his dismissal as director and a complete redistribution of the mining rights.

But Samuel Longwood keeps an ace up his sleeve for occasions like this…

Chaser awakens on board the spaceship H.M.S. Majestic. He doesn't know who he is, what he's doing here, why he is being sought by men in black uniforms and what they will do to him when they find him…

The player's goal is to find out who Chaser really is and why he is being hunted. The story leads the player from the H.M.S. Majestic to Montack City on Earth, then on to Siberia and finally to Mars, where the trail ends and hopefully the truth can be found.

'Classic'. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥T!

HL was a brilliant game and has become a treasure for humanity. Chaser is a terribly dull mess of a story, with dreadfully repetitive gameplay and the WORST map layouts imaginable. It falls into every gamecrafting pitfall imaginable, and then decided to dream up some new ones.

Just don't get it, spar yourself!

Excellent game way ahead of its time could not recommend enough especially for fans of Half-life or the original red faction, very lengthy with alot of different enviroments and weapons. only 1.24 euro on the steam sale atm great price.

This game is definitely worth playing for the right price. The graphics are very outdated but the plot and gameplay are decent. It doesn't have very much replay value as the campaign is very linear.

I rate it 7/10. If you manage to pick it up during a sale for cheap, it's an satisfactory experience overall.

honestly, i would have been on-board with this game if the late-game levels were similar to the early levels, or if the late levels were simply cut from the game. the later levels are just awful. massive stretches of flat, boring copy+paste levels with no enemies in them half the time. it feels like they just made these levels huge and empty to pad the playtime, which doesn't make sense because it's a reasonably long game without them. but they're bad enough for me to not recommend this game at all. it leaves a good first impression but falls apart by the end.

One of the bigger problems I noticed was when I booted it up for the first time it turns out this is a port from CD and not a very good one at that as it asked me for a CD key so I just booted it again than when I first got into the campain mode of this game it started with a cut scene which than went on for about 3-5 minutes well now that I have listed all negitives that I founed in my time playing let's list some of the positives the games defult controle setup is fairly well done only needs a few changes,the A.I is rather good but my favorite thing about it would be how balanced it is the hit boxes on the A.I maybe some of the best I have scene from a game of this period and it's got a Halo esc style to it although in some ways maybe a bit to much.

8/10 Good if you want a decent halo like shooter.

I played through the entire game.
Thought it would be a nice retro-thingy 'cause I grew up with these kinda games.
Glad I missed out on this one...oops .. there is my opinion in a nutshell.

Gameplay :

Responsive and great for what it wants to be.
The jump is a bit crap, but there is crouch-jumping to get you over most obstacles.
Found it a bit to easy to get stuck on level geometry, especially with slanted/pointy bits.

Combat :
Nice veriaty of guns. There is a gun design for each environment.
Kept me wondering what the next new gun would look like.
Some of them felt very weak compaired to whenever an AI was using one.
Hitdetection is amazingly accurate. You can shoot through missing pixels if your good enuff.

Puzzles :
Well, MAZE..... thats kind of it.
Ther were a few that needed a bit of memory, but mostly just maze.
Objectives could sometimes have been better worded though.
"find the missing part to fix the truck" ... that is great, but what part am I looking for?

Take an entire clip of OP gun-vaporize-everything, but I cant survive a single shotgun bullet?
Maybe because my character is'nt wearing a helmet... I dunno.
It's probably balanced with the aiming skill of the AI.
That sometimes cant seem hit a freak'n planet, even it there on that same planet.

With the limited stuff they got, they did allot. Lots of veriety, combined with changing gameplay.
I was generaly impressed....untill the later levels.

When the levels where starting to get bigger, and more confusing, getting lost is way to easy.
Repeating textures dont work in your favour either when trying to find where to go next.
There is a logic to making levels like: a prison, railsystem, or an underwater level.
I found myself inside one of the bigger levels just getting bored stupid.
I know the scale of the world is a big thing of this game, but damn.

Consistancy with level boundaries would have been nice aswell.
Invisible wall here, but a solid walk into death there?
And in the next level that does'nt kill me? *facepalm*

Also the hitboxes of some environmental object can really mess up your day.

The acting in the cutscenes was for a 2003 game very nice.
And then my character started to talk.
Like the voice-actor was in a differend studio, another timezone, not located in this universe.
I kinda expecting my character to somewhere go : "Yes my fellow hU-mAns. You want to go skateboards?".
The rest of the cast was fine. They sounded inversted in what was going on.
I liked that. Made me feel invested in wat was going on.

The game sets out to be something, and 80% of the time it get that thing right.
Even though I might be disappointed with it, I cannot say its a bad game.
Every game has high and low points, and we mostly remember the low points.
Like getting lost for 20 min, or waiting for a train your riding to finaly get wherever.
Looking back I had fun with this game, but lacked a few vital points that could have made it great.
I just had a way to many : OMG why?!!?! - moments in this game.
Lot of potential wasted, in my opinion.

„Betonová nostalgie.“

Tuto sci-fi střílečku vytvořilo slovenské studio Cauldron a vyšla v roce 2003. Před lety jsem ji už jednou hrál a byl to velice silný zážitek. Dostal jsem proto chuť zapnout ji znovu, abych si ověřil, že mě paměť jen milosrdně neklame. Po proběhnutí tutoriálu, ve kterém se ujišťuji že bez přikrčení ve výskoku se daleko nedostanu, jsem se tak znovu pustil do hraní.

Probouzíte se na orbitální stanici, nevíte kdo jste a co tu děláte. Jedno je ale jisté, ti ozbrojenci kteří sem zrovna vtrhli vás chtějí znovu uspat, tentokrát nadobro. Dáváte se tedy na útěk a marně si snažíte vzpomenout alespoň na něco z vaší minulosti... Jak už asi tušíte, příběh hry není nic úchvatného. Ale díky překvapivě dlouhým předělovým scénám, které vás uvedou do děje před každou misí, si vaši pozornost udrží.

Při pátrání po vaší minulosti, vás hra zavede na několik různých míst, nehrozí proto že se vám jednotlivé lokace okoukají. Autoři se toho nebáli, takže se nejedná jen o různé kouty světa a již zmiňovanou orbitální stanici, ale podíváte se i mnohem dál. Tím se dostáváme k věci, která mě na této hře fascinuje, ale zároveň chápu že spoustě lidem může vadit.

Jedná se o velkou rozlehlost většiny lokací, ve kterých se budete pohybovat. Často sice eliminujete všechny nepřátele v dané oblasti, ale ten nejtěžší úkol vás teprve čeká – najít cestu dál. Bloudíte liduprázdnými interiéry obřích rozměrů, ale nalézáte jen chladné betonové stěny a ozvěnu vašich kroků. Jste sami a ztraceni.

O to větší máte radost, když úspěšně postoupíte dál a kolem hlavy vám zase létají kulky. Přestřelky jsou zábavné, a to hlavně díky skvěle zpracovaným zbraním. Do rukou se vám jich dostane mnoho a většina z nich vypadá dobře i z dnešního pohledu. Velice povedené jsou animace výměny zásobníků, je vidět že s tímhle si někdo opravdu vyhrál. Hra nezapomíná ani na zpětný ráz, což jen umocňuje dobrý pocit ze střelby.

Jedná se o hru ze staré školy, takže se můžete těšit na hledání lékárniček a zapomenout na systém krytí. Lze využívat také krátkodobého zpomalení času, jeho zpracování ale působí velice rušivě. Za zmínku stojí též zajímavá hudba, která pomáhá vytvářet jedinečnou atmosféru po celou dobu hraní, v mém případě to znamenalo sedmnáct hodin.

Pokud tedy rádi vzpomínáte na doby, kdy vás hry nevodily za ruku a ve střílečkách bylo možné i zabloudit, pak máte mé doporučení. V opačném případě ale koupi dobře zvažte, tahle hra rozhodně nesedne každému.

PS: Jestli na vás při prvním spuštění vyskočí výzva k zadání CD klíče, tak nepanikařte. Stačí jen prázdné okno potvrdit a hru poté spustíte bez problémů.

Malokto asi tusi, ze Chaser bola poctiva sci-fi futuristicka akcia vytvorena nasim Slovenskym vyvojarskym tymom Cauldron

Kym sa nerozhodli spravit dieru do sveta s konceptom Chasera, mali na svojom konte dve hardcore strategie a jednu logicku zalezitost. Uznanie im teda patri o to viac, ze islo o ich uplne prvy pokus v ramci FPS zanru. Aj ked boli na tomto poli v podstate novacikmi, tak dokazali vytvorit naozaj kvalitnu a konkurencie schopnu FPS. To ostatne dokazuju aj vysoke hodnotenia, ktore pri vydani zbierala. Hardcorovejsi pristup k hram nezostal len u predchadzajucich titulov, ale bol nim poznamenany aj samotny Chaser.

Hra vas nebude vodit za rucicku, neukaze vam sipkou cel pol obrazovky, kde sa mate dostavit, neoznaci vam objekty s ktorymi mate interagovat a uz vobec sa nebude starat o to, kolko jednotiek zdravia si prenesiete do dalsej a narocnejsej urovne. Vsetko je to len na vas a plati tu pravidlo, ako si sami povediete, tak sa vam bude aj darit. Nastastie lekarniciek a zbroje je tak akurat a system quick save/load funguje rychlo a spolahlivo, takze ani ziadna frustracia nehrozi. Hlavne teda ku koncu vie ukazat Chaser svoje hardcore korene, kde aj pri plnom zdravi a zbroji vam dokazu dvaja bezny vojaci zatopit tak, ze z prestrelky vyviaznete s tretinovou hodnotou oboch a to aj napriek tomu, ze ich odpravite behom dvoch sekund.

To je zaroven aj neduh tejto hry, pretoze protivnici vedia byt niekedy vazne az neuveritelne rychly a smrtonosny a neni som si uplne isty, ci to autori takto zamyslali, alebo ide o jeden z bugov, ktorymi obcas hra trpi. Nastastie vsak trpi aj takymi chybami, ktore nepriatelov obcas zaseknu a vy im tak v klude mozete dopriat odpocinok. Horsie je, ked sa zasekavate vy o kdejake prekazky a najviac to dokaze nastvat, ked ide o take, na ktore musite povyskakovat. Niekedy si uz hovorite, ci ta cesta naozaj ma viest tadialto, alebo sa tu snazite skakat tych 10 minut uplne zbytocne. Tym sa dostavame do dalsieho hardcorovejsie ladeneho prvku hry, ktory si pozicali asi z tej logickej zalezitosti. Uplne bezne sa tu stava, ze zabludite a budete presvedceny o tom, ze z tejto urovne zdanlivo ziadny vychod nevedie. Verte, ze vzdy vedie a spravidla to je ta najnenapadnejsia a zaroven ta najkomplikovanejsia cesta akou by ste sa mohli vydat. Okrem teda precvicenia reflexov vam Chaser vie trochu potrapit aj sedu koru mozgovu.

Slovensky pocin pri vydani nezaostaval ani v grafickom spracovani, ci zvukoch, prave naopak, vsetko toto bolo na vysokej urovni a aj dnes vas prekvapi, ako sa nato stale dobre pozera. Rovnako pozitivny pocit budete mat aj zo strelby solidneho mnozstva rozneho arzenalu. Autori neponechali nic nahode a okolo svojej hry vystavali aj kvalitny pribeh plny zvratov, ktory bol na tu dobu urcite viac nez len beznou zalezitostou v FPS zanre. Takisto aj dlzka kampane bola, dokonca aj na svoju dobu, neobvykle dlha. Ked zacnete nadobudat pocit, ze uz sa pomaly blizite ku koncu, tak o chvilu zistite, ze sa to cele vlastne este len rozbieha. Urovni je skutocne velke mnozstvo a aby sa predislo monotonnosti, tak okrem casteho striedania prostredia, sa bude striedat aj rozmanitost uloh.

Chaser je taka typicka old-school FPS, ktora nakoniec sice ziadnu dieru do sveta nespravila, ale navzdy zostane v srdciach hracov, ktori mali tu cest v nej stravit chvilu zo svojej mladosti.

Túto hru vrelo odporúčam je fakt super a hlavne veeelmy dlhááá.. Po graficej stránke celkom dobrá hra kedže je z roku 2003.. A MIMOCHODOM JE TO SLOVENSKÁ HRA takže respect... :D

+: efekty, príbeh, herná doba a počet úrovní, zbrane, atmosféra, zábava, rôznorodé a rozsiahle lokácie, reálna streľba, využitie adrenalínu, dĺžka príbehových sekvencií, spomienky, hudba, multiplayer, DVD obal

Verdikt: Najprv bolestivé prebudenie, dezorientácia a postupne hromadiaca sa smršť otázok, na ktoré niet času odpovedať pre streľbu zo zbraní. Následný presun z orbity na Zem taktiež nepomohol, pretože všade kde sa zjavím som už očakávaný. Najhoršie na tom je to, že si nič nepamätám. Dokonca ani vlastnú identitu! Presne o tom je hra Chaser. Hlavná postava to asi prehnala na párty vo Vegas... Cesta za spomienkami po vzore Total Recall vedie z planéty Zem na Mars. Miestami sa treba vysporiadať s občasnými bugmi, slabšou grafikou a podivnou umelou inteligenciou nepriateľov, ktorí vidia a počujú naozaj všetko. Našťastie je poruke brokovnica, ktorá ich účinne likviduje aj na tridsať metrov. Atmosféra hry je napriek tomu skvelá. Príbeh je v podstate klasický, ale zaujímavý. Lokácie sú rôznorodé, čo dokazuje aj fakt, že dej sa nebude odohrávať len na povrchu alebo nad hladinou. Nadštandardnú hernú dobu singleplayeru ešte predlžuje multiplayer. Chaser je dôkazom, že aj na Slovensku máme šikovných programátorov so sľubným potenciálom do budúcna.

Pokud hledáte střílečku a máte slabší počítač, tak je tahle hra ta pravá. Ano je to pomalu z roku XXX, ale grafika je podle mě koukatelná a dá se na ni zvyknout. Je tam i pokus o příběh, ale pokud neumíte hodně angličky tak budete vědět stejnak kulové... Doporučuji!

Po delší době hraní se mapy zdají být velice zmatené, nepřátelé vás vidí i zezadu
