Patch Notes 3.20.13

This is a follow-up, fix-it build to the last patch. We've also made some significant changes to the drop rates in the Equinox event zone.

Improvements

  • Equinox Changes
    • The chance of finding wings from a Pharaoh's chest: 1% -> 6%
    • The chance of finding wings from a Caliph's chest: 0.4% -> 7%
    • The chance of finding a Djinn Fairy Lamp in a Sand Darrig's chest: 0.5% -> 1.5%
    • The chance of finding relic shards in a Darrig chest has remained the same, but when you do find them, you find more.
    • Important note: We have heard and read lots of feedback about Equinox. Players do not like pure random luck! Let it be heard, let it be done! Spooky Town (and future event zones) will not rely on these luck mechanics (there may still be little luck mechanics here and there, but it won't be in this quantity or severity).
  • Warrior Feat Icons: Phoenix Strike and Whirlwind were updated to better convey their meanings

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug that was causing bountiful watering pitchers to be sold for 1c. After this patch goes live, bountiful watering pitchers that were obtained via this bug will be deleted from player inventories.
  • Fixed: when using a ranged feat to target and attack an enemy, character would run towards the enemy. Character now only runs to get into range required by the feat, no closer.
    • Note that fixing this required reverting another fix, where using a feat with no spirit left would turn off auto-attack.
  • Fixed: doors would snap closed the moment they were opened.
  • Fixed: jumping with Gnomish Jumping Boots stopped playing a flip animation due to a bug.
  • Fixed: issues with chat tabs and party pane becoming messed up.
  • Some players reported an error with the boss Zagreb. Turns out all these years he has been bugged, making him very easy. This recent patch actually fixed this bug, so he suddenly is very hard (as he was always intended to be). However since he is no longer a main elder boss, we lowered some of the mechanics that are now making him slightly too powerful.
  • Fixed a bug where common level 1 gathering items could be found in the event zone.
  • Fixed a bug where NPCs in the event zone were saying incorrect things about the outfits they were wearing.

Patchnotes 3.20

Patch 3.20.10

What is that strange sound? Could it be...the whinny of a horse? It is!!!

Mounts have, at long last, galloped into Villagers & Heroes! And they brought Equinox with them! And countless bug fixes! And a slew of other exciting new features and improvements to the game!

Happy Last Days of Summer, Everyone! We hope you will all enjoy this hefty build. :)

Improvements
  • New players now move 20% faster on foot.
  • We have finally added Mounts! Players will now have the ability to access ride-able mounts. Mounts are special animals that can be ridden as a form of incredibly fast transportation, not to mention they look rather cool and are just plain fun to ride!
    • All mounts come with a default move speed of 165%. This will set a players move speed to 165%, it cannot be boosted by any current in game effects.
    • All mounts are permanent unlocks. The mount 'item' is a consumable, that once used will add that mount to your collection which will make it accessible forever.
    • Mounts are character bound. Once unlocked, only that specific character will have access to the mount.
    • Mounts can only be ridden while not in combat.
    • The Golden Bridle: This is a new shop item that will boost mounted speed to 185%. This item is a consumable, that once used will be character bound, lasts forever, and increases the speed on any mount you choose to ride. The Golden Bridle will be priced at 500 crowns.
    • There are five unique mounts:
      • The Grey Steed: 175 crowns
      • The Bay Horse: 225 crowns
      • The Nightmare: 350 crowns
      • The Grey Wolf: 350 crowns
      • The White Stallion: Can be found in Chests of the Red Darrig.
  • Equinox Has Arrived! The blazing sands of The Oases of Anuk ' Amon, a special event zone for players of any level where delicious challenges, fantastic rewards, and much camaraderie abound, has descended upon The Seven Realms!
    • All players have the opportunity to earn a special Equinox mount - 'The Sand Stallion!'
    • All players have the opportunity to earn the exotic new outfit, 'Arabian Knight!'
    • All players have the opportunity to earn six new Equinox-only outfit accessories!
  • We have made some exciting new changes to Gilly's Tunnel and Summer's Hollow -- A new combat hot spot! A completely re-designed portion of the zone! Less talk, more action, and a much smoother flow to the starter quests in general!
    • Dialogue has been shortened, some npc's have been re-located or removed altogether, and some quest goals have also been removed.
    • The 'backstage area' of the theater has had a cosmetic makeover, and you'll also find some lively new action there! (Beware of Crazed Actors.)
  • We have added a new version of gardening water to the item shop: 'The Ancient Zharim Pitcher!' This very special magical item will water your entire garden in a single action at the rate of Zharim water. There is also the "Bountiful Watering Pitcher" which waters the entire garden at the normal watering rate. It can be found from lucky cards, daily login bonuses, or Red Darrig Chests.
  • We've added new versions of Elixirs of Nurturing that have a 15 minute duration instead of 1 hour.
  • We fixed some issues with lucky potions, and lucky finds in general. There was some confusion in how the information was displayed to the player regarding the stat of "Mega Loot" which was not fully accurate. We have cleaned this up so it is accurate, as well as made a few other improvements. Players may notice their Mega Loot chance appearing to drop in the stat window, but it in fact is now just being displayed correctly, whereas before it was not.
  • In addition to the changes in the system, we have also boosted the effectiveness of the item store item, "Elixir of Luck" by about 2.3x.
  • We have added new 'Social Boosters.' These items will boost you, and every single player within range of you, whether that be 2 people, or 100. There is both a hero version, and a villager version. Each type gives a variety of bonuses, including XP gains, armor, damage, lucky find, supply find, and more. Each item can be used one time, will last for 20 minutes, and cost 60 crowns.
  • We removed rare supplies from Gambling chests. We have added: Crystal of the Benevolent Hero, Crystal of the Benevolent Villager, Bountiful Watering Pitcher, and Ancient Zharim Pitcher.
  • We have made it so the quantity of Red Doubloons found is much greater if you find them in a chest.
  • If the game detects severe internet problems (for example, extremely long latencies or high packet loss rates), an icon will be shown prompting the player to check their connection.
  • Improved Sounds:
    • Improved sounds for humans in the game, including male and female, player and not player.
    • Made it so that during combat, the grunts and pains don't play quite as often.
    • We made it so enemy alerts play on target player only. This will make it so players hear the sound when they are suppose to, and know when they are under attack.
    • Monsters who are NPCs now play a sound matching their race
    • Vendors now verbally greet the player
  • Special offers for new characters are now supported on PC! (Class Upgrade offers which contain a variety of boosts and unique outfits)

Bug Fixes
  • Numerous tweaks were made to make tutorial popups better.
  • Fixed: "Your kennel is full" message was changed to, "You cannot have more than 20 animals" to be more clear.

  • Fixed an issue where players could use water gauntlets to move NPCs around.
  • Fixed the oddly moving guard in Lady's Lake
  • Fixed it so bug nodes in Mino Labs and Lair drop all kinds of bugs.
  • Fixed underground mob in Badlands
  • Fixed a dead spot in Undercroft.
  • Gonzo is backed to his old self, and no longer a bounty.
  • Fixed Typo: a letter her from Rhyming Rowena
  • Fixed it so players can't fall beneath the dock near Dermot in Bearhold.
  • Made Maiden a little less bright.
  • Fixed the gathering area in Priest's Chambers to not be really dark.
  • Fixed: tags show instead of bullets
  • Fixed a stuck rock in Marigold.
  • Fixed a stuck location in Sapphira's Lament
  • Fixed a typo, Nuala, Fortunately.
  • Fixed a case where the quest, "A Cure for Chaos" could get stuck if somehow you broke dialogue from Samuel after giving him the wings.
  • Fixed an issue that made Steelforged Torc and Spellweavers Tailoring boost read "50%%"
  • Because of the recent changes with COG distributors, we have made a few balancing tweaks to supply rates. Mostly, this is a slightly lowered amount of free daily supplies. The chance to find rare supplies while gathering has been very slightly tweaked as well.
  • Fixed the "Meeting COG quest" to work again
  • Removed mention of chicken zogs
  • Fixed an issue where some hobgoblins wouldn't die.
  • Fixed a case where a wilted gallyfern frond kept from a previous rebirth could bug out the next play through.
  • Fixed a weird terrain glitch that could get players stuck in Addicts Ascent.
  • We cleaned up some slightly misleading text concerning move speeds. Some effects and talents listed the movement bonus as a percent, when it was in fact a point boost. These have all been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue that made the uncommon and rare supply distributors not have names or a marker over their head.
  • We fixed a few typos and misleading texts concerning Chests of the Red Darrig
  • Fixed some outfits that made accidental mention of Flynn McRufus in their description.
  • Fixed: small area of dead space just above center bar (couldn't click through it, drag under it, etc.).
  • "Spirit Essence" option is no longer shown in options (since it no longer does anything).
  • Fixed: getting stuck while loading to character select. This has the side-effect of making two stats in Character Details become Unknown again.
  • Fixed it so some low level elder bosses are now listed as elder bosses in the bounty journal.
  • Fixed foretelling robe with Rickardi and only one cloth
  • Fixed it so gathering water doesn't tick down Cornucopia charges.
  • Made Contagion's skeletal hands a bit smaller.
  • Fixed: using a feat when you do not have enough spirit no longer turns off auto-attack.
  • Fixed: typo in tool tip
  • Improved the goblin noises in Gilly Tunnel.
  • Chauncey and Hugo both grew hair. Chauncey and Rhoda both got a tan.
  • Minor: fixed small character oscillations when strafing.
  • Moved some skitters away from the portal in Cronk.
  • Moved some skitters away from Rosemunda.
  • Fixed an issue with the quest "Fairy Ecology". Any player who was bugged with this quest may need to kill a few more of each monster to make sure they are done with all of the goals.
  • Fixed an issue where Tufts of Boar fur for Nadia would keep dropping after the quest was over.
  • Fixed: Item expiration not working correctly - this was sometimes causing feats to disappear
  • Minor: show a popup explaining the Grace of Celestia boost when players receive it from Mayor Gummel.
  • Fixed: animations would got stuck in certain cases such as petting sheep.
  • Fixed it so Rhoda only does the salsa dance.
  • Fixed: enemies would sometimes not give normal (non-bounty) XP.
  • Fixed: items sellable for Red Darrig coins would stack with ones that weren't, increasing or losing the coin value.
  • Fixed a few issues with the Liches in Maldwyn's tomb: We removed the phylactery mechanic. While interesting, the mechanic had several bugs and caused some weirdness. Liches now just cast fire spells and die when you kill them. We also fixed some animation glitches that made the liches look funny, as well as a floating sword hovering beneath them. All of these fixes combine should make it so Liches don't go Aegis all the time.
  • We made damage over time effects (from Spider and Rat poisons) do less damage in the tutorial zones.
  • Fixed some issues in Dagmar fields that might increase FPS for lower end systems.
  • We updated several spell, feat, and talent icons across all classes (updating older icons and removing a few of the more graphic icons).
  • We made some changes to a few movement speed modifiers to balance with mounts:
    • Elixirs of Speed (Item Shop): removed from the shop, lucky cards, daily login bonus, and Chests of the Red Darrig. Players will still keep whatever they have however the item will remain unchanged.
    • Fleetindra: Movement bonus was reduced to 15% (from 30%), but now also affects mounted speed. Now only works outside of combat.
    • Light Footed (House Buff): Now only works outside of combat. Now also boosts mounted speed.
    • Celestia's Swiftness (Spirit Essence): Reduced from 15% to 10%. Now also affects mounted speed.
    • Vengeful Dash (Wobbles Remedy): Reduced from 25% to 15%. Now also affects mounted speed. Only works outside of combat.

“There are 10 different gathering professions: mining, fishing, bug lore, plant lore, smithing, cooking, tailoring, woodcrafting, gardening and ranching. The coolest part is that one character can become an expert at all of them. So Villagers and Heroes is a class-based, sandbox-crafter's paradise with nicely interactive housing.”

This unique feature is at the heart of the deep yet elegantly simple player choice system in Villagers & Heroes. The weapons and armor that a player equips not only grant a versatile assortment of heroic feats and spells, but also a large array of proficiencies and augmented abilities. The process of Gnogmenting gives the players the ability to mix, match, swap, replace, customize and design gear exactly how they want! Gnogmenting is a completely free-form, sandbox system that is unmatched by any other game in its depth, and lets players test every tactic and indulge every creative whim.

Bounty Runs!

Bounties are powerful adversaries and monsters that roam every corner of the world. When a player defeats a bounty monster, they earn a large reward, regardless of the size of their party! Solo the beasties by yourself, or rampage across the countryside with a group of friends. Bounty rewards are instantaneous and do not require activation. This feature encourages teamwork and strategy.

Live in a Real Home in a Real Village.

You are the architect, the farmer, and the rancher. With a wide range of building styles to choose from, players can design and decorate their own houses, as well as choose which crops to plant in their garden, or select the type of animals they'd most like to raise.
