Play for free, keep your stuff! No resets at the end of Beta!

All purchases and unlocks are permanent. We call it Beta because we're still adding some pretty big features, but so far we have:

- Training and Solo play - for learning how to play, or casual fun
- Coop and PvP Matchmaking - quickly get matched against others
- Custom games and rules - when you want total control
- Player driven economy - didn't need that drop? Sell it to other players!
- Quests with ingame rewards - like Achievements, but better
- Leveling, progression, unlocks - level yourself, your AirMechs, expand your army
- NOT "pay2win" at all - check our reviews or ask players ingame
- Global chat, Factions, parties - integrated directly into the core UI
- Crafting system - added due to player demands
- VIP/Premium for LIFE with any purchase - because we're cool like that

Name Your Own Price Bundle!

Not just a random update! We're doing something extremely special to celebrate Carbon's birthday (oh, and America's too) by creating the FREEDOM BUNDLE--a very special chance for everyone to get a ton of Diamonds just for being with us during this special week!

Presenting the....

Normally, 10,000 Diamonds cost $20, but we're letting you type in any price you want, as long as it's at least $1. And if you beat the average price (currently around $5) you get the Ultimate Helix and Eagle Head as bonus items! We really wanted the bundle to be something for everyone, so no matter if you want Power (Ultimate Helix) or Pretty (Eagle Head) or any number of things you might find in the shop (Diamonds have you covered) you simply cannot afford to miss this Bundle!

The FREEDOM BUNDLE will be retired on Friday, meaning you should think of Thursday as the final day to buy it! This is not just a typical marketing blurb, what you get is really blow your mind amazing:

What can you get with 10,000 Diamonds? A skin costs between 600 and 1600 Diamonds, so you could get a ton of them. You can buy XP and Kudos Boosts, or Diamond Rolls to give back to the players! Fancy buying and selling for profit? That's a huge stash to fund your adventures in the Player Market, where players can buy and sell for Diamonds.

ULTIMATE HELIX (when you beat the average)
This is the debut of the Ultimate Helix, with greatly improved missile firing bays able to unleash swarms of heat seeking death on anything in it's path. Ultimates are for Solo and Coop play, but that doesn't mean they aren't a ton of fun. Sure you can buy an XP Boost, but just smashing stuff fast is just as efficient, and more fun!

EAGLE HEAD (when you beat the average)
What's more patriotic than wearing an Eagle Head with your Liberty Paladin? Absolutely nothing! Nothing says freedom and liberty have landed like the magestic Eagle Head atop whatever mech you choose. (just remember the Liberty Paladin is available in the Shop right now for a limited time, and you'll easily be able to pick it up with all the Diamonds you just got)

  • whatever you spend on the Freedom Bundle will contribute to your total spent. Silver VIP is automatically awarded when approximately $10 USD is spent over the lifetime of an account.
  • double check the current average price before purchase to make sure it doesn't go up by a few pennies right before you complete your purchase
  • if you have any problems, please email and we'll help you out. We've never done this before, so there might be some unexpected issues. Let us know right away if you find anything strange!
  • tell your friends! We may do this next year, or we may not! It's an experiment for sure to see if people will spend even $1 when we give them and overwhelmingly amazing deal--Diamonds, an Ultimate, and a brand new Cosmetic, something for everyone.

Update #212 - Inventory overhaul and Generator rework

We have some nice improvements to the Inventory UI that should make it a lot easier to sort and find things. A more traditional drop-down list for categories has been added, and rarity filters can be applied at any time along with a new Duplicates selector that only affects the current set you are looking at. Great for figuring out what you can sell or scrap!

Speaking of Scrap, there is a new Basecamp structure available--the Scrapyard! Now you can simply drag things out of your inventory and into the giant whirling machine to tear things into little bits. Be careful though, once you press that "Scrap" button it will shred it super fast! There is no undo, so no messing around with this heavy machinery. You'll also get a nice preview of how much Scrap something will generate.

What about Generators? This change has been a long time coming, on the list of "things to do before we exit beta". It started to feel like Generators became a "must have" unit, which can be frustrating when you just have 8 slots. The solution to this we feel is to actually decrease or remove the Generator's ability to increase upkeep, and instead increase upkeep overall. So instead of giving you more upkeep, they will do what you expect them to do since they look like power generators--they will increase the Energy capacity of structures you have them attached to (via the Sockets). We might have some balance work to do, but we think this will be a good chance allowing everyone to build more units and not absolutely need to take Generators to do it.

For those playing around with the alpha version of the map editor (for Prime owners) Dan has continued to make improvements and add features. Find more details in the notes below. We're probably a patch away from being able to reliably play your maps online with others! We're still deciding how all that will work, and what will be available for free players compared to VIP and Prime. Maybe free players can join rooms created by others, but can't select custom maps on their own? Leave us suggestions in the forums!

General Updates:
  • Inventory UI upgraded
  • new basecamp structure - the Scrapyard!
  • 6 new, rare, crate types - keep an eye out for new crates!

  • allow players to change the game mode and boundaries in the Map Editor
  • hold Alt + middle mouse button to rotate camera in Map Editor, Shift + Space to reset

Steam Exclusive Offer

Two Portal themed items are now available to all Steam players:

Companion Cube - Found in the ruins of a long abandoned facility, there's something about this utilitarian cube that compels you to keep it at your side. It follows your AirMech in battle acting as a faithful companion Pet until the end! Can be equipped in a Flair slot on any AirMech.

Sentry Turret - Blueprints for this turret were found in a large underground facility in use before the War. They seem to have been designed for use against humans, so this version is equipped with armor piercing rounds to make it more viable against the robot armies used in battle today. They are light and cheap, only effective against weaker units, but you can build a lot quickly to make them useful.

Hey you, Yeah you!
Do you like mobas?
How about RTS games?
Giant Transforming Robots?

If you said yes to any of the above, then you should try out Airmech. If you didn't, it is still a free game and you have nothing to lose.

Now you may be asking: "What is Airmech?" Airmech is moba style Games with some Real Time Strategy elements mixed in for a fresh spin on the classic moba gamestyle.

Players control Airmechs, giant mechs that are able to transform into various planes and helicopters at the will of the pilot. There are currently nine different airmechs(as of me typing this) that players can choose from, and more designs are planned to be added in the future! Each of the nine different airmechs play differently, each are equiped with different kinds of guns, missiles, and melee weapons along with 8 preset upgrades that will be unlocked as the mech levels up each match.

Each mech also has 8 slots for the many buildable tanks, soldiers, turrets, and other things that the player uses to help the team advance or defend an area. These eight units are picked by the player before the start of any match. In addition to the player built units, each teams fortress automatically spawns basic soldiers to help capture outposts and attack the enemy.

In the base gamemode, two teams of atmost 3 Mech pilots(Players) fight each other to gain control of the outposts around the map while trying to advance to the enemy team's fortress and destroy it. The Outposts around the map work as unit builders, where players can pick up the various units they want to spawn during the match. Not a big PvP(Player versus Player) enthusiast? Don't worry! this gamemode is available in co-op mode(One team of players vs one team of AI controled Airmechs) and solo mode(one player and two AI vs an AI team).

The other big gamemode is called Survival. This gamemode pits four players against an endless onslaught of enemy units, whose soul purpose is to destroy the team's fotress.

Now you might be thinking: "This all sounds really fun, but how pay to win is this game? Whats the catch?" And thats just it, there is no catch. Anything that can alter competitive gameplay in any way is bought with "Kudos", the currency in this game that is earned at the end of every match. This stuff piles up quickly and is only earnable through playing the game, but don't worry, once you start playing you will never run out of kudos!

So what costs actual money in this game? There is also another form of currency called diamonds. This currency is the "premium currency" of airmech. This premium currency is used to buy cosmetic items and Ultimate items, aswell as being the currency of the player market.

Cosmetic items are things that make your Airmech look cool. these range from Airmech skins, unit skins, different laser and exhaust colors, helmets for your airmechs, and pets that fly around you. None of these have any effect on gameplay.

Ultimate items are... well, Ultimate! These items are stronger versions of the buildable units and Airmechs that are normally usable.
"But you said that paid items won't alter gameplay!"
I said competitive gameplay. Ultimates are only usable in cooperative gamemodes, so if anyone is using them, they will always be on your team. Ultimate units are really just used when you want to dominate the AI team without as much effort.

Lastly there is the player market, where players can sell various cosmetics and items that are no longer sold in the shop for diamonds.

Is it worth putting some money into this game? I certainly believe so. But whether or not you want to is up to you. I strongly suggest playing airmech for a couple of days before deciding to throw all of your money at the screen. If you don't want to put any money into the game, don't worry, we won't judge!

Thank you for reading this review, I know it was a long one.

I hope you give this game a try, and enjoy it as much as I do!

I have played this game for literally 8 hours, but I can already tell this game can go far.

The Good

Very friendly to low tier pc's.
This game can run smooth on almost any pc, lowering the settings doesn't really take that much away from the visual appearance, so you don't exactly need a hardcore gaming pc to play this game.
Very fun and fast paced.
Not really much I can say about this, only that it's super fast paced and the tide of the battle can change within seconds.
Not too heavy on purchasing items.
You don't feel too pressured to buy stuff or diamonds from the shop, all the classes and most of the items can be unlocked and purchased with points you get for playing the game, the only stuff you can purchase is cosmetic items that look cool, and "Ultimates" which have buffed up stats, but you can't actually use these ultimates in ranked matches, so it's not pay to win.
Each class of mech is different and comes with different abilities and stats, so there isn't that one class that's super buffed up like Chuck Norris on sterriods. The extra items you can buy to put on your mech come with downsides, one of the legendary weapon parts came with a huge debuff and made me think twice before wanting it.
MOBA? Maybe?
This feels nothing like your average MOBA, such as DotA or LoL, Carbon Games definetly took the average MOBA and added their own saucy twist.

The Bad
It can be a bit confusing at times to figure out how to buy and equip units or how to use skills, so they could have made the tutorial a bit more detailed in some areas.
You have to be online to play.
Now, I'm not sure if there's a setting to keep you logged into the game, but you have to log into your AirMech account every time you launch the game, so you basically require internet connection to play. I don't know if this affects too many people but I thought I should make note of it.
I live in America, US West, and I would be matched up with people that are extreme distances away, so if the devs can change it to Area Based, it would fix a lot of lag problems.

Anyway, that's really all I have.
