Update #226 - Build 44314

We've got a big patch to catch you up on the latest updates and fixes. There have been a ton of performance optimizations and improvements to the game engine since our last patch. Among these improvements are some fixes to the net code which we'll be monitoring for a while. Please don't hesitate to let us know how things feel in online matches. The forums are the best place to communicate with us.

We've also got another round of AI fixes with some tweaks to the lower difficulty settings. Veteran players may even be surprised by how much they've improved. Give it a try and look for the daily Quests to earn some extra rewards by playing with friends. With all these bug fixes the AI becomes more powerful in ways that are hard to foresee. It's good to hear back from players that find it too difficult.

Speaking of feedback, we noticed some complaints about the XP grind for leveling up your AirMechs for better parts. We've made to changes to address this. The first is that the XP you gain at the end of a match is increased by 50% before it's applied to the AirMech you used. This change went into effect about a month ago. The other half was to decrease the amount of XP needed to reach each level. Since this part required a patch to go live, some of your AirMechs may have already increased in level!

General Updates:

  • reduced the amount of XP required for persistent AirMech levels 10-20
  • new sound effects added for some AirMechs
  • added a sound effect for the unit deploy arm
  • units will no longer be deployed over sockets or door pads
  • added a taunt animation for Saucer
  • allow Saucer's Deathray to damage destructible scenery objects
  • updated BlackOps Saucer's transport model
  • added Luck (fun stat) to Lucky Clover
  • AirMech AI will now build infantry at the nearest base to their capture target
  • AirMech AI optimizations for AutoDeployV2
  • AirMech AI will no longer attempt to harass an outpost which already has an enemy AirMech near it
  • AirMech AI will now move in closer when missing shots in air mode
  • limited AirMech AI unit building in Survival maps to better allow human players to control upkeep
  • improving the AI's logic to detect paths generated under bridges
  • improving the AI's ground strafing logic to reduce cases of getting stuck overlapping an enemy in tight spaces
  • greatly increased the AI's chase range for base defense when there are no enemy units nearby
  • improving the AI's logic for escaping when health is low
  • reduced AI's ability to escape on lower difficulties
  • made the AI avoid areas with turrets when dropping units near the fortress
  • improved the AI's ability to use blocker units at the fort
  • improved the AI's usage of Warthog's Power Shield ability
  • improved the AI's unit dropping logic to better handle infantry
  • infantry units will now deploy towards the fortress when there is no enemy fortress
  • allow multiple bases to have an AutoDeploy path
  • Alt+F4 will now close the application
  • improved Jetpack Cat and Husky Pup animations
  • applied the map force boxes to non-neutral units to keep them in bounds
  • added missing art for new parts
  • allow the mouse wheel to scroll the map load dialog in the Editor
  • added page numbers to the map load dialog in the Editor
  • allow the 'b' box select Editor tool to select everything
  • added new Collections sets for AirMech parts
  • performance optimizations for animations

  • fixed common name on a few Mk4 parts to allow proper linking in chat
  • fixed autotag on a few newly released items to allow linking in chat
  • fix for Helmet Armor Mk2 image not appearing
  • fix for AirMech level affecting carry speed calculations
  • fix for matches not ending when the enemy team leaves or is disconnected
  • fixed an issue with AI AirMechs continuously picking up and dropping a unit
  • fixed some bugs with AI AirMechs finding a place to transform to ground mode
  • fix for AirMech AI detecting whether infantry are in a Bear Trap and won't get stuck trying to pick them up
  • fixed a bug with the Bomber AI thrashing state when trying to attack a fortress
  • several fixes for Bomber AI landing far from where it could actually attack enemies
  • fix for AirMech AI's ground strafing pathing so it it avoids cases of being stuck overlapping an AirMech target
  • fixed an issue with AI tracking units as allies after they were abducted

Balance Changes:
  • carry speed changes for all AirMechs
  • carry speed is no longer affected by in-game AirMech level
  • stat changes for Jared, Jason, and Gabe pilots
  • increased XP award for destroying Bombs and Booster
  • increased XP award for destroying Ultimate Units by 10%
  • all units will consume upkeep while socketed
  • buffed some Ultimate parts to fit in with the new Mk4s
  • reduced negative stats on a few parts to be more PvE friendly
  • adjusted Rapid Missile Loader series of parts to be like the old stats (3x fire rate with reduced DPS)
  • allow the Osprey's Heal Beam to target air units
  • allow Tesla Tower to damage the enemy fortress

Update #225 - Pregame Tweaks and New Parts!

We've made some adjustments to the pregame phase that should fit better with the new unit deployment rules. The neutral units can no longer be damaged before the timer expires. This gives players more time to setup without worrying about getting behind on clearing neutrals for maps such as Twin Peaks. We've also enabled XP awards for building units in pregame. We didn't want to open doors for XP farming in pregame, so we've also reduced recycling returns down to 75% of the unit's value.

There are a ton of new parts and a few new items with this patch. The new items are available in the Shop, while the new parts have been added to the endgame drops. Still looking for some of the old parts? We're going to allow all parts that are not sold in the Shop to be sold on the Player Market instead. Since we're adding in Mk4 versions of our Helmet, Knee, and Chest Armor parts, we're going to be renaming the Heavy versions to include Mk2. This change won't be noticeable at first, since it will require some server-side updates to complete the renaming process.

There are a few more improvements worth mentioning. We've always had complaints about the bridges in front of the forts on maps like Thar and Dust. Units will now move in much closer to the enemy fortress while on the Attack order. This should prevent the units in the back of a push from being blocked, and allow them to move within range. As requested on the forums, we've also increased the limit on custom paths allowed. You can now have up to 6 paths drawn at a time! For more details, be sure to check out the details below.

General Updates:
  • Super Helix added to the Shop
  • added five new Items to the Shop: Holdout Pistol, Stim Kit, Survival Knife, Fuzzy Dice, and Pilot's Buckle
  • units on the Attack order will move in closer to the fortress to reduce issues with blocking other units
  • disabled unit damage in the pregame phase
  • allow XP to be granted for building units in pregame
  • recycling now returns 75% of the unit's value
  • neutral units can no longer damage neutral outposts
  • AirMech AI will now detect cases where it cannot walk to a location and will fly there instead
  • increased custom path limit per player from 3 to 6
  • made units set to the hold order when abducted
  • many new AirMech parts added to the drop tables
  • Heavy Helmet Armor, Heavy Knee Armor, and Heavy Chest Armor are being renamed with 'Mk2'
  • made the Lunchbox repair sound play for outposts as well
  • made outposts and forts use the map center as the default deploy direction when there is no enemy fort
  • non-AA and non-artillery turrets will deploy to the outer row
  • player-built units can no longer be latched to neutral sockets
  • giving orders to Boxer will pass them down to units they carry
  • Comms Mk1 structure now enables Market chat rather than the entire chat window
  • fixed Google login button

Bug Fixes:
  • fixed an issue with units not targeting the roadblocks on Sandrim
  • fixed a case where the AI could get stuck being unable to pickup a unit due to proximity to a fortress
  • fixed a case where the AI could get stuck trying to attack an enemy AirMech while overlapping it
  • fixed a case where Bomber AI wouldn't switch to air mode when out of reach of an enemy AirMech
  • fixed an issue where the AI would continually pickup and drop a unit
  • fixed an issue with the AI getting stuck repeatedly transforming while trying to attack an outpost
  • fixed AI logic for maneuvering around obstacles in air when stuck
  • fixed a case where AI could get stuck trying to drop a unit too close to a base
  • fixed an issue that caused Grinder to backtrack when switching away from the capture order
  • fixed Finished button not responding in a Tryout session
  • fixed some Saucer models that didn't have an underside
  • fixed an issue with the deploy arm clipping through Factories and Outposts
  • fixed an issue with units attached to the deploy arm not counting towards upkeep and allowing the limit to be exceeded
  • fixed another issue with being able to queue over the upkeep limit in multiplayer games
  • fixed an issue where returning players would be stuck in the Basecamp tutorial if they didn't have enough Kudos to build a structure

Balance Changes:
  • Warthog hit points increased from 1350 to 1450
  • Warthog DPS increased from 295 to 305
  • Hero will only target AirMechs for repair
  • Hero movement speed increased from 10 to 15
  • Hero repair rate for AirMechs increased from 33 to 100
  • Hero heal beam range increased from 5 to 10
  • Hero vision range increased from 16 to 23

Companion Cube - Found in the ruins of a long abandoned facility, there's something about this utilitarian cube that compels you to keep it at your side. It follows your AirMech in battle acting as a faithful companion Pet until the end! Can be equipped in a Flair slot on any AirMech.

Sentry Turret - Blueprints for this turret were found in a large underground facility in use before the War. They seem to have been designed for use against humans, so this version is equipped with armor piercing rounds to make it more viable against the robot armies used in battle today. They are light and cheap, only effective against weaker units, but you can build a lot quickly to make them useful.

Very fun game but it crashes when I have found a match with other people. I can play solo and I used to be able to play multiplayer but after one of the updates I was not able to. I meet the recommended hardware, is there something that I can do to fix this?

If your looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your looking for an outstanding cheese cake recipe you've come to the right place.

Ingredients:
1 cup digestive plain sweet biscuit crumbs
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons melted butter
40 ounces softened cream cheese
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
4 eggs

Directions:
For The base:.
If you're using a dark pan, preheat the oven to 350. If you are using a shiny pan, 375.
Combine the crumbs, melted butter and 3 tbsp sugar well and pat onto the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan. I also like to very very lightly butter the sides of the pan so that the cheesecake will not stick later on.
Bake for 10 mins in your preheated oven and remove. Let it cool while you prepare your batter.
For the batter:.
Make sure everything is at room temperature.
Combine sugar, cheese, flour and vanilla in a big bowl and mix on medium speed till well combined. Don't forget to scrape the bowl as you're doing this.
Mix in the sour cream till its incorporated well. Then, add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
Pour the batter into the springform and let it bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes After the baking time, turn off the oven and leave the door ajar. Let the cake cool in there for about 1 1/2 hours.
Remove the cake and let it cool thoroughly. Refrigerate overnight.
Release the sides of the springform.
Eat.

This is my opinion on the game:
Pros:
-Really fun
-Has an "Global Chat" where You can organize Your own tournaments
-Fun minigames in the chat (ofc they are paid by other players but still)
-Isn't fully Pay2Play
-Really fast loadscreen
-My pc(core i3 1.4GHz, dual core)can handle this on low graphics with 60fps stable
-Cartoonish art style
-You can make Your own strategies to win games
-Easy to learn an AirMech
Cons:
-Isn't populated enough
-Have to be VIP of some kind to be able to build some needed structures
-A very little PvP map pool
-sounds are copied
-Can't find a PvP match for 15mins+

For my 10ish hours experience I recommend this game! But it's more interesting when You play with friends :)

This is my opinion and my opinion only and definetly not a copy of that noob foxwarriors123' opinion. This is the pros and cons for this kind of good game(?).

Pros:
+Good Name
+Good Dice Rolls
+Good Babyface Characters
+Good Community(Not really just noobs)
+No crtashing
+No Russians

Cons:
-Bad Name
-Foxwarriors plays it
-Lady Gaga is in it
-MICROTRASHSACTIONS
-Prussians

Overall this is a very good game and i like playing it but foxwarriors123 plays it too so it kind of sucks.

Really awsome game! Really deserves a lot more players and support most defenitly! Its a nice touch of tacktics but doesnt lack of action (*and eventual addiction...*(-_-) what so ever. I truely recommand this game!

new (since 2015) patches are ruining game

the other negative reviews got most of the points. most of the details about:
1. new deployment system: unintuitive
2. microtransactions, pvp matchmaking system: hints of pay to win, which was not an issue until mid-2015+
3. nerfing items, units paid with premium currency (real cash) by older players
4. 'farmville'-implementations forced onto players: hinders what i want to do in the game - playing
5. not implementing better, more easily browsable custom lobby system: matchmaking takes forever
6. low playerbase: hard to find games
7. terrible pvp balance: devs do not listen to their pvp players on how to balance pvp aspects
8. servers are okayish-bad: often have to play on further servers too due to small playerbase
9. campaign has been promised for many years, included in a package that costs 20, 30 dollars.

devs if u see this, fix the issues. your steamcharts population is decreasing. i was bored, made this review, please do not approach me to clarify any of these issues.

i have 2000 hours, including non-steam version.

The game is dying down, what was once a decently sustained community is now something else. Global chat used to be full of life, almost all the time, now it's even more stagnant than the in-game settings menu. Once-active chat moderators no longer log on as often, allowing way for newer players to take advantage. A reasonable discussion of the game can't go down, as the vast majority of chat occupants are players whom have only recently joined.

Put simply, there isn't enough people to make the game fun. CoOp is a lagfest, Bots are predictable, and uninteresting to play against, and PvP is dominated by pubstompers who run a virtually uncounterable loadout set. Spamming Hard-to-kill tanks and utilizing a Mech that can overheal thier units faster than any other mech or unit can damage them. The lack of veriety, A larger population would help against immensly, but i'm far too tried of waiting for nothing to happen there. This game was taken off of the list of F2P games by the developers for unknown reasons, making it hidden in a maze of other niche indie games. Unit and Mech balance is a marginally organized mess, with several units being necessary to equip, while others, an inherent detriment to. Ideas regarding the balance of 2v2 or 3v3 balance have been essentially forgone due to the severe lack of people playing in them.
Focus of the game is around CoOp, the most populated game mode. With unintelectual bots that administer predictable strategies and uninteretsing gameplay (all with might i add, artificial difficulty modifiers) make PvE gamemodes stale and tiresome to play. The same exact strategy is viable for each game, and others are differed and discouraged by the bots' omnipresense and unrestricted loadout access.

Balance discussions and idea suggestions have become extremely stagnant on the official forums, and the Balance council has as much transperency of thier current ideas (if they have any on the table at all) as a concrete bunker. Anything that they're doing they rarely discuss unless directly confronted. All the agreement on an interesting suggestion seems to go nowhere to the point that it seems to be without viable substance to make threads anymore. Long-beloved veterans have withdrawn from the game's community, and it's no coincidence that they have.
Major changes to the game's core, particuarlly the Arm system, while I am personally indifferent about it, seems to have driven off several veteran players. The addition of some Cash gimmicks such as parts and Ultimate Units for Unranked PvP give a strong impression of the Pay-to-win style of game that pluages the game market today. While this "pay-to'win" percieved aspect really isn't entierly true, it makes the game much less comforable to open up to, especially by those who dislike the style of game.
Balance updates are becoming further far inbetween as well.




I'm getting far too tired waiting for something interesting to happen.

This is my opinion on the game:
Pros:
-Really fun
-Has an "Global Chat" where You can organize Your own tournaments
-Fun minigames in the chat (ofc they are paid by other players but still)
-Isn't fully Pay2Play
-Really fast loadscreen
-My pc(core i3 1.4GHz, dual core)can handle this on low graphics with 60fps stable
-Cartoonish art style
-You can make Your own strategies to win games
-Easy to learn an AirMech
Cons:
-Isn't populated enough
-Have to be VIP of some kind to be able to build some needed structures
-A very little PvP map pool
-sounds are copied
-Can't find a PvP match for 15mins+

For my 10ish hours experience I recommend this game! But it's more interesting when You play with friends :)

This game used to be such an awesome game. Played it for days when i first got it and even bought some of the in-game currency. Which for me is nothing short of a miracle.
Got tons of the in-game currency for free, thanks to the amount of generous players doing tons of diamond rolls. And had a huge amount of fun playing the game. And it was a fantastic game. Bought almost every unit available, unlocked pretty much everything and then.......nothing. Very few new updates, not even a handful of new units and no new Airmech. The new map has been in beta since forever and basically nothing was ever released so the game rapidly got boring. Which is a massive shame, as it has huge potential. With regular updates and new units...etc, this game could be epic.

So i stopped going on it, except every once in a while to relive what could be such a super game.....Until today.... Whoever thought of that silly, annoying grabby arm thing that drops off your units has just completely ruined the game for me. Now when i build things, i lose them, they all get built in the same place and it just completely destroys the game.

I recommend the game in the begining, as starting it is ace! But once you've unlocked everything, you'll rapidly get bored of it. And as you won't have played it without the ridiculous grabby arm, then it might not bother you so much, but otherwise i cannot recommend it at all.

This game is awesome, as long as you remember that it is in Beta...
There have been several updates (eg: Auto Deploy Arm) that have caused the playerbase to fall from time to time, but these changes - even those you may not like - are a part of playing a Beta state game.

Some Great things about the game itself:
- Dota meets RTS (with prebuilt buildings to capture/deploy from).
- Massive Unit list to fully customise your loadout (from Infantry to Tanks to Artillery/Turrets and Support).
- Increasing list of Parts to customise your AirMech performance with.
- Pilots and Items to enhance your play style.
- CO-OP & PVP Leaderboards for weekly prizes.
- Simply an insane amout of purely "cosmetic" flair and pets to show off your personal Style (obtainable with premium "Diamonds" currency, generally bought with real cash).
- Seasonal Promotions in the Shop.
- Player Market.
- A Basecamp to build, with crops to generate free "Kudos" - also earnt just by playing (free ingame currency).
- Nanoforge (the crafting craze continues in AirMech...).
- All critical gameplay Units & AirMechs obtainable with Kudos.

Some Great things about the Community in AirMech:
- Helpful & Friendly.
- MODS keep faction chat in check (Plus the ingame Swear Filter option helps).
- Diamond Rolls (sponsored by players) share Diamonds via a Chat minigame - Click those Dice! Highest and lowest numbers win Diamonds!
- Factions help newer ones to learn the game

Some Factions also have Joining requirements, something to strive for.
- For those that sign up to the Forums, there are Giveaways hosted by Generous AirMech Members and Players.

Some things new players confront when just starting:
- Diamonds! As said, these are the Premium currency obtainable with real money (generally).
- Market. There are Distinctive benefits (like reduced Tax) for those that are at least Silver VIP ($5USD) over those that are unable to (or choose not to). This makes selling on the Market (and earning those precious Diamonds) harder for those F2P'ers (however this isn't necassary to play or be good at the game itself).
- Kudos. Even though you will gradually earn Kudos, some players find it takes too long to buy everything they need to play (but please don't spend your early Diamonds on these things, you may regret it later).
- PVP. Ranked PVP doesnt allow Parts or Ultimates but Unranked PVP does. This has led to some believing AirMech is now P2W as Ultimates are only available with Diamonds. However Ultimates were 'nerfed' a few patches back and are not as OP as they used to be, they now only give an advantage. As an incentive, "Honor" was released for those who play PVP Without Ultimates against those that Do - earn enough Honor and you'll unlock some exclusive stuff...

Overall, I love Airmech. Between playing CO-OP, learning PVP, playing the Market, "ChatMech", "FarmMech", Diamond Rolls (or the Ever OP "Black Diamond Roll") there is enough content here to have kept me entertained for years! Just remember its a Beta state game and so will you!

This used to be so much fun for me, the creep deployment change made things harder. I used to be decent at coop and now I'm suckier than a vacuum. Its a fun moba-style game. You like transformers (more a bunch of starscream and other plane-like transformers), you like moba-style stuff, you'll like this game.

This game is great.If you play starcraft, this is like that but with transformers.It also has different types of vehicles like a helicopter or a jet. you can play multiplayer or singleplayer with bots.

This Game is JUST GREAT!
The Game has many elements that are very cool:
- Its defenitly not P2W you get enough money from just playing to get al the cool units you want
- Smooth and cool Gameplay
- Great Idea even better made
- Multiplayer works fantastic

- Its for everybody who likes it fast and with a boom
- So many things to do, so many classes, abilities Units, this game will never get boring
