Wozu Early Access?

“Early Access plays a key role in allowing us to remain independent. We are currently self-funding Holdfast: Nations At War to avoid any sort of outside influence to the development of the game and remain community oriented. We also want to create the game without the need for accepting donations or loans largely as part of our overall motivation and dedication to this project.

Shaping the game together with the players has played a major role in ensuring it’s success. We have been gathering feedback since the very early stages of the game’s development and we will continue to do so. Early Access will enable all of our followers with a direct opportunity to provide us with feedback while we continue to improve, iterate as well as well as include new content within the game.

Be sure to join us on our forum if you wish to share any suggestions. There are boards which are solely dedicated to gathering your feedback whilst allowing the rest of our community to voice their opinion on the matter. Go to our forum here.”

Wie lange wird dieses Spiel ungefähr den Early Access-Status haben?

“Creating a multiplayer title with a small team is a very challenging process. We want to make sure that the product is polished and most importantly satisfactory before the full release. We expect the full release of the game to be ready somewhere within 12 months after the start of Early Access. In game development, it is very difficult to accurately guess how long work will take. For this reason, we are not yet ready to give a definitive date.

We will be able to gather feedback on a much larger scale during the Early Access period. This will better help us with shifting our priorities on the improvements, new features or content that the community wants most before going for the final release.”

Wie soll sich die Vollversion von der Early Access-Version unterscheiden?

“We have chosen the Napoleonic Era specifically because it offers us with almost endless possibilities for content. Holdfast: Nations At War is not just a single release for Anvil Game Studios. We have plans both for the game directly in terms of performance optimisations and additional content in patches but also for a Holdfast franchise.

We wish to build a community around this release, support it and keep new content coming so that it grows. This covers bug fixing in patches and later additions of planned content before then moving forwards into new regions, ships, factions, gameplay features and maybe even exploring new conflicts!”

Was ist der derzeitige Stand der Early Access-Version?

“Holdfast: Nations At War is still under active development.

This Alpha state means that some of its features and content are more polished than others. Improvements are ongoing for the core mechanics of the game such as the melee and naval combat along with player count optimisations. On that base, we also plan on the inclusion of new features such as cavalry, new factions and maps. We know what the community wants and we’re working on it!”

“There is a possibility that the price may change after Early Access but this has not been decided yet. Pricing for the final launch version of the game will be announced at a later stage.”

“We truly believe and understand that the community’s involvement in our development process is of the utmost importance for the competitive element of the game to strive and prosper. It also plays a crucial role in ensuring the overall success of the game.

The development roadmap details a list of new features for all of the theatres of combat within the game as well as improvements to existing systems. We will be releasing this at the same time we release Holdfast: Nations At War on the 21st of September.

Game Update. Engine Upgrade



Holdfast: Nations At War has been updated! During the previous week, we set our sights on upgrading the game’s engine and in this update, we’ll be doing just that. There’ll also be various bug fixes and quality of life additions being added.

    Core Development
  • Holdfast: NaW's underlying game engine has been updated to the latest stable release. We’ve done this in an effort to improve both server and client-side stability.

    Features
  • A dedicated ‘Recruitment’ chat channel that regiments (game clans) can use to advertise their own group has been added into the game.
    » Player’s advertising their regiment in the chat channel will be displayed in a different colour to help distinguish them from the rest gathering greater visibility.
    » If you aren’t too keen on seeing recruitment messages, we’ve also included an option that allows you to disable the channel through the ‘Game’ options.

    Quality of Life Additions
  • The ‘Round’ chat has been renamed to ‘All’ chat.
  • You will now always find chat channels in the same order irrespective of the class you are playing.

    Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug which caused all players to become invisible forcing everyone in the match to re-join the server.

Game Update. New Map! Ernest Ridge



Holdfast: Nations At War has been updated. We have a new map for everyone to check out in this week’s update! Ernest Ridge.

Ernest Ridge
Situated atop a hill lies a small village where we expect a lot of mayhem to ensue as both teams push one another back and forth for control over the position. If you’re not looking forward to a frontal assault, there’s plenty of natural cover that will allow for flanking manoeuvres.

Have a go at the map yourself by joining one of the Army Front official servers! Ernest Ridge is playable on the Army Battlefield and Army Conquest game modes.







Do you have any ideas for maps that you’d like to share with us? You’re more than welcome to do so. Post in the thread below and we’ll get back to you. We’ve taken inspiration from a community-designed game level for one of our upcoming maps.

Optimisation. Client Stability
Once again, we’ve spent a good majority of this update’s development time on plugging leaks that degraded client-side performance over long periods of play time. Here are a few more details on what we’ve been up to.

List of Optimisations
  • Optimised various instances which were causing framerate to plummet when a lot of players spawn at the same time.
  • Optimised client-side VoIP performance.
  • Optimised an instance that occurred when a player switches their weapon.
  • Optimised the scoreboard.
  • Optimised player name tags.
  • Optimised the terrain shaders.



Optimisations targeted toward improving frame-rate will be ongoing throughout Holdfast’s full release.

Kommandiere und operiere historisch-inspirierte Segelschiffe in beeindruckenden Duellen oder in Geschwader-Operationen, bei denen die Kooperation zwischen den Schiffen der Schlüssel zum Erfolg bringt. Der Krieg zur See ist ein einzigartiges Erlebnis und diese Schlachten finden an ausgewählten Küsten in bildschönen Arenas statt.

Nimm’ des Königs Schilling oder kämpfe für den Kaiser in ruhmreichen Napoleonischen Landschlachten. Stehe in Reih und Glied in Formation oder unterstütze die Front von hinten mit Kanonenfeuer, während Du über die Vorherrschaft auf dem Schlachtfeld kämpfst.










Trete der Marine bei
Erlebe wie es ist, Teil der Besatzung eines militärischen Segelschiffes zu sein. Setze die Segel, feuere die Kanonen, prüfe die Wassertiefe und kooperiere, um Dein Schiff flott zu halten!

Werde Teil der Armee
Arbeite zusammen mit Deinen Kameraden, um feindliche Festungen zu stürmen oder unterstütze die Front mit Artilleriefeuer. Halte die Formation in Schlachten auf offenem Feld und führe Deine Männer zum Sieg!










Spiele als Kapitän, Matrose, Linieninfanterist und mehr! Jede Klasse hat ihre eigenen Merkmale und spielt eine wichtige Rolle für das Überleben Deines Teams.

Das Befehlssystem in Holdfast: NaW erlaubt intuitives kooperatives Spielen, bei dem Deine Teamfähigkeit genauso entscheidend für den Sieg ist wie Dein eigenes Können.












Egal, ob Du eine Kanone bemannst, eine Muskete feuerst oder ein Schwert schwingst, das Kampfsystem in Holdfast: NaW ist einfach zu lernen aber schwierig zu meistern. Das Spiel belohnt das Können der Spieler mit einem präzisen, timing-basierten direktionalen Nahkampf-System.










Es wird viele Möglichkeiten für Dich und Deine Freunde geben, gegen andere Gruppen in Wettbewerben und anderen kompetitiven Events anzutreten. Arbeite an Deinen Fähigkeiten, denn Du kannst Dir sicher sein, dass auch Deine Gegner dies tun werden!
