SpellForce 3 Update 1.37 - Big AI & Campaign improvements, Bugfixes + New Skirmish map


After a long silence we are back with a quite huge update. We have added one new skirmish map, fixed dozens of bugs, re-balanced the abilities and improved the AI in the campaign and did quite a lot of other improvements.
As always we are glad for any feedback as we will continue improving our baby!

- Savegame file size reduced by ~90%
- Some minor UI changes to improve coop experience
- General rendering performance improvements
- General localization improvements
- General game stability improvements

- Fixed certain achievements not being triggered although all conditions are met. Players should now be able to get all achievements.
- Added savegame compatibility for missing artefact part in Windwall Foothills
- Added savegame compatibility for missing portal in Unknown Islands
- Fixed Earth Rune buff moving with Isgrimm
- Fixed Arcane Archery working with melee weapons
- Fixed Focus regeneration on Knowledge of the Xarlonthep, changed to 0.1/s
- Fixed multiple issues regarding sidequests in Aonir's Blade, as well as main quest compatibility for old savegames
- Fixed issues in Old-Haalayash that would not allow players to continue the main quest, including savegame compatibility
- Fixed some icons and descriptions on mobs and items
- Potion of fresh start now works properly in multiplayer
- The godstone in the Orc Camp of Farlorn's Hope now works properly
- Upgraded elven towers now retain the capacity of 3 workers
- Fixed sometimes stuck at 100% loading screen when playing coop multiplayer and changing levels
- Fixed sometimes stuck at 100% loading screen after multiplayer host migration
- Fixed player color when playing multiplayer coop campaign after skirmish
- Fixed multiplayer lobby showing up when migrating, changing levels in coop campaign or loading multiplayer levels

- Significantly increased the potency of most trees' basic skills
- Alchemist's Blood L3 now grants more Armor and Debuff Immuninty for 4s
- Increased healing when attacking creatures affected by Judgement
- Tiara's Shield L3 now grants immunity against Purge & Interrupt
- Reduced frequency of Clarity L3 pulses to once every 5s
- Decreased radius of Fireball by 20%
- Decreased bonuses granted by Pyromancy, Cryomancy and Hierophany to 20%
- Decreased cast range of Earthquake
- Earthquake and Day of Reckoning now scale with Constitution
- Increased radius of Epidemic by 20%
- Elen's Champion now works with any weapon
- Entangling Shot now casts faster and additionally decreases movement speed
- Doubled the duration and cooldown of Encourage
- Reduced cooldown of Nor's Breath to 180s
- Throwing Knife can now hit up to two adjacent targets
- Reduced cost and cooldown of Solar Plexus Strike, now also applies Impaired
- Added chance of brief knockdown to Headsplitter and increased Bleeding
- Increased stun chance on Niethalf's Shield
- Transcendence now also adds some White and Black damage to attacks
- Reduced Focus cost of wolf and bear form Shapeshifting spells to 10
- Gor is now briefly immune to damage while shapeshifting back to Orc form
- Increased damage bonus of Zarach's Might to 25%
- Reduced Life Leech on vampiric weapons to 25%
- Increased Focus regeneration granted by robes

- Enemy armies in the campaign now behave more like the skirmish AI to offer a more challenging and fun experience. This includes:
- Smarter usage of units, including using catapults more situationally
- More varied attack and retreat patterns, especially on harder difficulties
- Less reliance on resource advantages, allowing for more interesting dynamics
- RTS scenarios have been reworked to better fit the new style of AI behaviour
- Some key encounters have been balanced in accordance to player progress level on all difficulty levels

SpellForce 3 Update 1.32, 1.33 & 1.34 - Huge Balancing Update & Bugfixes

- Hero leveling speed decreased by about 30%
- The unit AI will now ignore targets that are currently invulnerable
- Units and heroes will no longer be slowed during combat to encourage more active fights

To give you more options to specialise your heroes and define your playstyle, but also making your choices more significant, we added new defensive item options, increased the cost and effectiveness of specialized gear and placed more items all around.

- Shields added
- One-Handed weapon options added
- Additional armors added

We are adjusting the overall power levels of all heroes to enable more different playstyles and hero combinations.

- Heroes will no longer be slowed down in combat to improve their micro potential
- Occultist / Bloodcaller
-- Assassinate irresistible damage when target is bleeding reduced by 50%
-- Shadowstep cooldown on Lv2+ increased from 2 to 5
- Renegade / Berserker
-- Tear Down on Lv2+ will now deal damage in an area around the target
- Elite Ranger / Bowmaster
-- First Aid reworked to be primarily an out-of-combat healing ability:
--- Cooldown increase from 15 to 30
--- Cast time increase from 1 to 2
--- Level 1 heal is reduced to 25%
--- Level 2 adds 10 seconds of strong health regeneration
--- Level 3 adds an immunity against debuffs
- Shaman / Spiritualist
-- Totems reworked to be more situational
--- All cooldowns increased from 10 to 20
--- Protection totem: resistance increase reduced by 33%
--- Protection totem: Level 2 healing effect reduced by 50%
--- Fire totem: Now damages every 4 seconds instead of 2, while dealing 12 damage instead of 6, including Level 3
- Commander / Guardian
-- Kiss Of Tiara: Level 3 no longer heals
-- Kiss Of Tiara: Level 3 Shield increased from 30 to 60
-- Kiss Of Tiara: Cooldown increased from 10 to 20
- Hierophant / Priest of Tiara
-- Judgement: No longer is a damage-over-time ability, instead deals moderate damage at once and applies impaired for 3 seconds
-- Judgement: Is now cast instantly
- Necromancer / Defiler
-- AI will now ignore spawning zombies while they are still invulnerable

As with the heroes we are also adjusting the powerlevels of the RTS units to make them more significant in combat.

- Units will no longer be slowed down in combat to improve their micro potential
- Decreased the Elven movement speed bonus in enemy and neutral territories reduced from 30% to 10%
- Human Helbardier: Upgraded range reduced from 28 to 24
- Human Helbardier: Health reduced from 384 to 322
- Human Soldier: Upgraded health regeneration per hit increased from 4 to 8

While Elves are a very strong faction at Tech Level 1, their economic power falls off in the later stages of the game. The following changes are adressed to giving Elves a more active economy.

- [All] Capital II upgrade time increased from 30 to 45
- [All] Capital III upgrade time increased from 75 to 120
- Elves now have stoneworks on Tech Level 1 again
- Elven Defensive Outposts no longer increase population cap
- Elven Economic Outposts now increase population cap: 15/25/45
- Elven Capital upgrade population cap increase reduced by 20/30 respectively
- Elven Outpost I new cost: 10 Planks
- Elven Outpost II new cost: 20 Planks / 10 Brick
- Elven Outpost III new cost: 20 Planks / 20 Brick / 15 Food
- Elven Capital II new cost: 22 Planks / 10 Brick / 10 Food
- Elven Barracks cost reduced from 30 to 20 Planks

These changes as well as your feedback will be closely monitored by us and we will make further improvements to the multiplayer in the future.
