What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Shadow Stalker is fully playable today, and the core gameplay loop is functional, intense, and already supports full multiplayer sessions.
But this is an ambitious solo project, and Early Access gives me the runway to expand it with you while keeping it stable and fun.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • More Hunter Classes - Trackers, Occultists, scanner bots, possibilities are endless..
  • Monster Variety - Currently in the works for more "singleplayer" aimed monsters that can be enjoyed without a group of players or full lobby.
  • Hunter/Monster Bots - Currently indev for smaller/empty lobbies.
  • Workshop support - Want to make and share your own map? Or maybe you have a weapon a weapon/gadget idea that is simply TOO good to NOT implement.
  • Hunter customization - holiday cosmetics, player/clan decals, and monster/hunter skins are in the works.
  • Matchmaking(maybe) - For those who just want to play without having to worry being in a group or becoming a part of a server community.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable and semi-dynamic map, round-based combat, loadouts, bots, 4 fully fleshed out classes.
Since the current aim is party-play, There is a lobby search system so you can join games. Sadly there is no proper matchmaking implemented, as it is meant to be a more casual game (joining on friends, dedicated servers, ect..). If players want a matchmaking system then that is something that can be worked towards at a later date.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

"Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game" - Guybrush Threepwood

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback will be taken to heart, when the workshop is added, player skins, weapons, monsters, and maps will hopefully also be up for vote.

While modding Unreal Engine games is a lot more intensive than other game engines, the possibility for an SDK/mapbuilder of some sort is always on the table, especially if it is desired by the players.

I'm currently trying to keep the game within a certain storage budget, but I can't wait to see the reception and feedback that releasing the game in this early state will entail, the good and the bad.”

About This Game

The Game

Shadow Stalker is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror experience. One player takes on the role of “The Hunted,” a near-invisible monstrosity armed with supernatural abilities, while 2–8 other players team up as “The Hunters,” a well-equipped elite task force.

...Over here...

The Hunted thrives in the shadows, barely perceptible to the naked eye. Despite the number of Hunters outnumbering The Hunted, The Hunted’s unique powers can even the odds:

  • Wall Climbing – Scale walls, crawl along ceilings, and strike from impossible angles.

  • Raise the Dead – Reanimate defeated NPCs and players to create a shambling horde that slows your pursuers.

  • And more.

Hunt or Be Hunted

Step into the boots of a Hunter—a member of an elite squad tasked with bringing down The Hunted. Work as a team, keep your eyes peeled, and use advanced tactics to corner your prey. Armed with high-tech weapons and gadgets, you’ll need to stay alert; or you might just find yourself on the receiving end of the hunt.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

General themes of death/gore, online interactions not rated.
