There is one rule in the game. And it needs to be broken.
There is one goal. And when you attain it, you die.

Six sisters live in an apartment in the city. One by one their mother sends them on an errand to their grandmother, who is sick and bedridden. The teenagers are instructed to go to grandmother's house deep in the forest and, by all means, to stay on the path! Wolves are hiding in the woods, just waiting for little girls to stray.
But young women are not exactly known for their obedience, are they? Will they be able to resist the temptations of the forest? Will they stay clear of danger? Can they prevent the ancient tale from being retold?
The Path is a game about growing, about changing, about making choices, about accepting the consequences of these choices. A game about playing, and failing, about embracing life, perhaps by accepting death.

Key Features:
The Path is a short horror game inspired by older versions of Little Red Riding hood, set in modern day. The Path offers an atmospheric experience of exploration, discovery and introspection through a unique form of gameplay, designed to immerse you deeply into its dark themes. Every interaction in the game expresses an aspect of the narrative. The six protagonists each have their own age and personality and allow the player to live through the tale in different ways. Most of the story, however, relies on your active imagination.
The Path is designed with accessibility in mind. There are no ticking clocks or monsters to defeat. No hard puzzles will ever halt your progress. Most activities in the game are entirely optional and voluntary. The player has all the freedom in the world to explore and experience. The Path is a Slow Game.
While The Path does not contain any graphic violence or sexuality, it does allude to these themes. The overall melancholy mood of the game and the potentially unsettling course of events, make The Path unsuitable for children. Despite of its origins in fairy tales, The Path is decidedly a game for the mature mind.
The Path is an independently created video game. It was developed with digital distribution in mind. But despite the small file size of the installer, the game features a complete realtime 3D environment that can be explored through third person navigation. The characters in this virtual world, including the player's avatars, are governed by a form of artificial intelligence that gives them some autonomy. As a result, nobody knows exactly what you will encounter on your journeys.
Next to the multi-layered stylized graphics, The Path features a continuous soundtrack composed by goth rock diva Jarboe (ex-Swans). In fact, there are hardly any sound effects in the game. Instead the music is continuously changing according to what is happening in the game. Like the behaviours of the characters, the music too is never exactly the same twice.
For a satisfying experience, it takes about 6 hours to complete the game.

This was my very first steam game and I've never regretted the purchase. The music, scenery and underlying message in each character's journey was something that I honestly didn't expect from what was supposed to be some kind of "gothic Red Riding Hood" game. I'll admit, at first I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing but after a quick run-through I got the hang of it. This game is more relaxed than most and I guess that's what caught me off guard. It's a game where the more things you discover the more warped the world turns out to be. It's a tale of innocence, destruction, pain, and discovery. Not something for everyone, but it's still one hell of a fun ride!

!No spoilers, just my honest review!
I honestly dont think this should be classified as a horror game. But yolo whatever.
ANYWAY,
If you expect: A good story, pretty music, solid characters, spooky settings and something that keeps you guessing, this is the game.
If you expect: Jump scares, ghosts, a straight foward story, a challenge and being a wolf and eating little girls, this is NOT the game.
I love The Path and support it with all of my heart. But this should not of been a video game.It should of been more of maybe an interactive comic, or even a book. Even so, this is great all around. Not great as a video game but great as a story. It is very powerful. There is a lot of different ways you could take the story and it still make sense and be…well, a good story. So if you haven’t noticed by now,
ITS A REALLY GOOD STORY. There is still a spooky atmosphere and sometimes you might catch yourself sitting there for a moment and thinking, “That is creepy wow okay” but never should you feel threatened or scared by anything that happens. Each girl (there is 6) experiences life in a different light. Which is beautiful. Now something that I want to say about the description of the game:

"There is one rule in the game. And it needs to be broken.”
This rule is; stay on the path. For new comers, my suggestion is (If you have the time) play your first round of the game staying on the path right to grandmothers house. And think about the things you see there as each sister. Then, after you have went to grandmothers house as every girl, replay the game and immediately leave the path to then find your own way around.

Each girls ‘death' is not as straight forward as the other. For me, some of the girls ‘deaths’ don’t seem like dying at all, but more of realizing something important in their life. (Some are obvious deaths though) Also, You do not get to see the girls die, you get to see what happens right before their deaths, if they die at all.

Thats all I really have to say, but by all means, I love this game and it is wonderful.
Some tips and fun things to try out:
The flowers you find show you the map once in a while, so when lost, look for flowers.
The path disappears if you stay off it too long.
The “girl in white”s intentions are different with each girl.
There is only one way to die so do not be afraid.
Dont base the game on the demo.
All of the sisters names are a type of red which I thought was cool.
There is a saving option in the pause menu, (Its not obvious and I kinda didn’t figure it out until my 4th play through so I thought this tip would help.)

I feel like this game was made specifically for gamers like me. I can understand how it's not for everyone, but given some time and patience this game is very rewarding.

Tale of Tales...well what can I say? The Graveyard is still my all time most hated product I've played on Steam. Fatale ranks pretty low as well. I was certain that this one was going to be a flop, but no! The Path acually showcases some creative thought and is quite a pleasant exploration piece. I guess 1 out of 3 isn't a strikeout.

Um jogo estranho e muito peculiar...

Uma recriação artística para um dos clássicos dos contos infantis. Uma recriação inspirada em suas versões mais antigas. The Path não é um terror propriamente dito, nem mesmo uma aventura propriamente dito. Tale of Tales pretende misturar jogo e arte, procuram criar no jogador o estranhamento próprio da arte e de fato conseguem.

Praticamente, o que é este jogo? O que você faz nele? Isso é simples: Como eu disse no parágrafo anterior, você se perde na floresta. Bem como Dear Esther tudo o que você faz é andar e só. O objetivo do jogo é encontrar e entregar as meninas para o Lobo Mau, mas fazer isso apenas é desvantajos, pois acaba com a imersão.

O lance do jogo é simplesmente deixar-se perder na floresta. Andando aleatoriamente você encontrará alguns itens com os quais as garotas vão interagir, através desses itens você vai entendendo a história e a psicologia que cada garota por traz esconde. Junto com isso vem a imersão.

Você pode se sentir irritado, talvez, por não saber onde ir. Bem... é isso que os desenvolvidores querem. Não é te deixar irritado, te deixar sem saber para onde ir, afinal você está perdido em uma floresta.

Mas eles te dão uma ajuda, uma ajuda sutil. Vou dizer o que é, mas marco como spoiler (apesar de não ser) para que você possa ter a opção de descobrir por si mesmo, assim como eu fiz. O jogo não tem um HUD convencional, mas tem marcações nas bordas da tela que parecem apenas tato artístico, ajudam você a se encontrar alguns pontos importantes na floresta. A medida leva as meninas a salvo na casa da vovó, ou que encontra flores douradas suficientes, as informações na borda da tela vão sendo aprimoradas

A trilha sonora de Jarboe e Kris Force é perfeita.

Traz uma melodia repetitiva como uma cantiga de ninar e vozes infantis propositalmente desafinadas, que nos evidencia que o jogo se trata de um conto de fada. Mas ao mesmo, a medida que mergulha-se na floresta, a mesma melodia vai se mostrando densa e sombria como a própria floresta, nos evidenciando a violencia que os mesmos contos-de-fadas tem em suas raízes. Assim a trilha sonora é infantil, suave, sombria, pavorosa e imersiva.

Mas não é possível analisar esse jogo apenas praticamente, pois antes de ser um jogo de aventura ou de terror, The Path é um jogo artístico e deve ser jogado com isso em mente para fins de apreciassão. Para desfrutar bem deste jogo você deve desnudar-se dos antolhos que e buscar enxergá-lo com um olhar mais liberto. Deve dedicar-se à contemplação do jogo como se contempla a Sinfonia Pastoral de Beethoven ou O Violeiro de Almeida Júnior.

Com uma simples premissa, seis irmãs são levadas uma a uma de seu lar na cidade para ver a vovó que está doente e vive próximo a um bosque. Elas são deixadas em um caminho cercado por um bosque e ao fim deste se encontra a casa da avó. O jogador irá perder-se diversas vezes em busca do Lobo Mau, mas o que é o lobo mau se não uma metáfora?
