Springfield Line: Springfield – New Haven Out Now

25/08/2016

http://store.steampowered.com/app/325992

The Virtual New Haven Railroad Springfield Line brings to life the 1950s glory days of the famed New Haven (NYNH&H) Railroad – and glorious it is!

Extending from Springfield, Massachusetts to New Haven, Connecticut, this highly authentic Train Simulator route represents 62 miles of multiple-track, densely-packed mainline railroading bustling with a mix of New Haven passenger, through freight, local freight, and switching activity. In the 1950s, the NYNH&H’s Springfield-Hartford-New Haven corridor was a busy center of New England manufacturing, and the line offers countless opportunities for serving those industries with local and switching operations. Plus, the route’s many beautiful lineside stations (including large stations at Springfield, Hartford, and New Haven) provide for classic-era passenger railroading at its best.

In addition to re-creating New Haven’s Springfield main line, the route includes a variety of adjoining branch lines and spurs, such as New Haven’s branch to Suffield and Windsor Locks, its Bloomfield/Griffin branch, the quarry line at Meriden, extensive industrial trackage around Hartford, and New Haven’s Mill River branch. Major freight yard and terminal facilities exist at Springfield, Hartford, and New Haven, keynoted by New Haven’s famously massive, 880-acre Cedar Hill Yard, which was the largest terminal complex in New England.

The Virtual New Haven Railroad Springfield Line features a trio of locomotives from America’s three dominant diesel builders – the versatile GP9 from Electro-Motive; Alco’s 1,000-horsepower S-2 switcher; and General Electric’s diminutive 44-tonner. Together, the locomotives are perfectly suited for a variety of duties and are provided in a total of seven livery variations.

The route includes an extraordinary selection of 1950s freight and passenger rolling stock including more than a dozen freight car types (many in multiple liveries and with various loads) ranging from boxcars to gondolas to tank cars to TOFC flats. New Haven’s distinctive NE-5 class caboose is included in three liveries, and three passenger car types (heavyweight baggage and coach and distinctive Osgood-Bradley lightweight coaches, all in multiple liveries) are included with the route.

The Virtual New Haven Railroad’s Springfield Line route captures all the appeal that made the New York, New Haven & Hartford an iconic favorite of railroad enthusiasts and, in taking you back to the 1950s, will provide countless captivating and challenging railroading experiences!

Over dit spel

Enjoy three fantastic real-world routes including Sherman Hill (USA), Riviera Line: Exeter to Kingswear (UK) and West Rhine: Cologne to Koblenz (Germany). Train Simulator 2016 is the biggest package of exclusive content we have ever delivered in a Train Simulator!

EXCLUSIVE Steam Edition includes the additional route, Norfolk Southern Coal District route.

Feel the pressure of steam as you travel back to the time of Green and Gold, from the powerful Kings to the romantic Castles, the heavy working Halls, the goods-carrying Granges and the famous Pannier Tanks across the Riviera Line set in the nostalgic 1950s. Relive the time when steam reigned on all services from local freight to coastline express, whether you perform perfectly alone or need some assistance to get to your destination. The 40 Mile Riviera Line in the 1950s comes with GWR Pannier Tank, Castle, Hall, King and Grange Class all with Driver Assist incorporated, Mk1, Collett and Centenary coaches and freight wagons. Keep an eye on those signals, they can be easy to lose in the cold western fog.

Experience the power of the fuel-hungry Big Blows across the challenging Sherman Hill as you haul hundreds upon hundreds of tons, putting that 8500 horsepower turbine through its paces, or opt for some conventional traction in the form of ES44ACs, drive in more comfortable conditions in the wide cab of the SD70M, or maybe in the classic SD40-2s. The 60 Mile Sherman Hill route comes with UP Gas Turbine, ES44AC, SD70, SD40 and SW10 locomotives and freight wagons. Watch out though, winter can be brutal even for the most powerful of locos.

Control the Genesis of modern Electro-motive traction as you haul heavy freight across the stunning West Rhine Railway in the DB BR 155 ‘Electric Container’, take passengers on their scenic commute with the DB BR 146 or shunt together a train to be taken far away with the DB BR 294. The 60 Mile West Rhine Railway from Cologne to Koblenz comes with DB BR 155, 146.0, 146.2, 101 and 294, with regional and InterCity coaches and a variety of freight wagons. Be mindful of the weather, heavy rain can take even the best drivers by surprise.

Struggle through the beautifully scenic Mon Line as you haul mile long coal trains through the winding curves and streets of Pennsylvania. Collect coal as you drive your ES44AC slowly under the loading facilities and prepare for the run to the other end of the line. While being relatively level, the sharp river-side turns and the slow speeds as you cut right through a town will not be mastered easily. The 50 Mile Norfolk Southern Coal District route comes with Norfolk Southern ES44AC and Dash 9 (AI Only) locomotives with NS coal hoppers. (Only available with Steam Edition)

Capture the perfect scenes in the all new Railfan mode
Enjoy the power and finesse of the railway away from the drivers cab with railfan mode, watch from the platform, track side or stand on a bridge and take in the excitement without worrying about the journey, just make sure you’re ready to take some shots, you never know what you might see out on the tracks!

Learn to drive different trains at the TS Academy and qualify as a train driver
New to driving trains? Not to worry! With the newly updated TS Academy you can learn all that you need to beat the extreme, from basic passenger operations to freight terminals that require pin-point accuracy or nailing those complex and unique signalling systems. TS academy is the best way to learn or remember how to control every type of train

Have you mastered driving diesel and electric locos, but struggled to control steam? Found it too complicated to drive or understand? Now you can master these delicate engines with our all new driving assist! Driver assist will provide you with real time information based on the locomotives performance and handling, it will guide you through driving a steam loco by highlighting the controls in cab and telling you how to move them to get the best out of the engine. Driver Assist is featured on all the steam locomotives included with the Riviera Line in the Fifties route and can be turned on and off at will.

I would like to say that I do recommend some routes, but most routes, nope I wouldn't recommend, eventhough I like playing this game. First: many routes, like the eastcoast mainline london-peterborough are not finished at all, they lack scenery around the track. Besides that sometimes the emergency breaks gets triggered without any warning (on that route)! Besides that the trains don't seem to have much more then a revers (which you can set to forward/backwards) and a throttle and breaks, thats all, it doesn't feel like a real train. besides that it likes to shut down at random times, meaning when you're making a scenario for a route the ganme shuts down and says: railworks.exe has stopped working. Emailing the (RCS/game developer) support about this has resulted in getting standard emails like: verify local game files, is your pc fast enough (yes it is.. 8GB ram and 4 ghz)..., are your drivers up to date (yes they are...), etc. In the end sometimes I find the answer myself, like when I don't see a platform it's just because of the scenery density level which isn't set to 10, and support doesn't seem to know this simple answer.
Besides that IMPORTANT: they are doing something on facebook that most people don't like, they REMOVE the negative comments, even if they have feedback, I'm even afraid that they will remove this comment, because of the negative things in this, I hope they can't remove this comment. Anyway, on facebook they remove negative comments, on engine-driver they remove negative comments, etc. it seems like they don't want to get better. Most games want to get better by reading the comments from other users on the forums, but this game seems to get worser with each of their new releases. Sure there are a few nice routes, like the west coast mainline north, but just a few, most routes I bought were not finsihed, or had big issues. Donner pass for example has wheelslip at the most weird moments, even if you have the sander on and the throttle down at 20% or so. the SiFa warning system on their new released taurus doesn't work... The berlin wittenberg route has sudden speed changes without warnings, RCS (railsimulator/dovetails (dovetails is the new name)) released this route from a third party developer, but RCS didn't update the route, and I thought reading somewhere that the third party did release an update to fix this... But RCS somehow doesn't release this update, for some reason...
Besides that the price is way too high, even on sale. Most routes just have 3-5 scenario's and cost about 30 euro's, a price for a full game (which would need to come with 10-30 scenario's instead of only 3). And if you buy a loco (around 14 euro's) that loco also comes with only 3 scenario's, where one or sometimes even 2 are a tutorial of 10 minutes... so that means you only have 1 scenario left to play... Of course there is quick drive and you can create your own scenario's, but that doesn't really weigh up against the pricing... Even on sale (mostly 40% off) the price is still 10 euro's for a loco, meaning it's way too high for what you get.
If you think about getting the game, you could buy TS2014 standard edition, but I would recommend you buy it on sale, and only that edition.
One more thing, on the london-faversham there is a unfinished part, only no scenery placed around, it's called the sheerness branche, it seems like they want to get even more money out of the game, because you can buy the London-faversham for around 30 euro's and the sheerness branch for 15 euro's (it's only around 10 miles long and they only placed scenery, because the railway already existed), so actually they are asking 45 euro's for 1 route. It seems they want to do the same for the ECMl london-peterborough, there is a unfinished part, again only no scenery around, no platforms, but the railway is already layed down, its from alexandra palace to stevenage (via hertford). It seems like they want to make more money out of that route as well. the ECML has just been published and I have it... which I regret now. I also promised myself that I won't buy anything from trainsimulator until they really become better and not only make promises without keeping to them...

Conclusion:
I'm a disappointed customer, they remove negative comments (from facebook, steam forum, engine-driver, etc.), they don't offer good support. Once they decided to whipe the WHOLE forum and every comment on it... Then after that they made new rules, so they could delete the negative comments. It now really feels like a game that wants to grab all the money that there is and that doesn't pay any attention to the customers and service level, I would say the service level is 0%-10%. The gameplay is allright, besides the shutting down for no reason, the loco's are too simple, even on "expert mode", it doesn't really bring anything expert to the loco... Too many routes that I bought aren't finished (and I own many routes). I could go on, but you will have to make the decision for yourself. You could buy the standard edition of the game and see if you like it, I would recommend you buy it on sale.

They now even want to make it also multiplayer, I would like to see that, but not before they finish the routes...

Hallo,
Tofffe simulator,alles werkt prima.
Ik vraag mij juist af of er geen Belgische spoorwegen en treinen komen op de Train Simulator.
Belgie heeft een zeer dicht spoorwegnet, prachtige treinen,en ook veel Train Simulator liefhebbers.

This simulator does not feel like it is made with passion and love for trains:(. The graphics are fine for me, but the feeling of a real train isnt there. The only stuff made with love and passion for trains is made by The Armstrongpowerhouse and Virtual Railroads and The armstrongpowerhouse exist because Dovetailgames is making bad quality trains, that isnt good right? I cant even manualy open the doors. There isnt a startup procedure. The poeple are walking right through obstacles. But why? some simulator are so much further than TS2014. I have also very low fps on a high end pc system. Even when i set the graphics settings on low. It should be something with the game engine that is very unefficient ive hard that TS2014 uses only 1 CPU CORE. And if Dovetailgames wants there routes to be even more realistic in the future, they will have to fix that by editing or creating the game engine. I hope they will do that on the next Train simulator because its ruining the whole game i dont have the feeling of smooth driving if it laggs so much and then i have also screen tearing with it :(. They can also wait until train simulator is unplayable for me and everyone. If there is not gonna change something in TS15 im gonna change to Trainz: The new era. Because they are gonna make a game engine thats supports multi threading that means that the game can make use of more than 1 core. And so i can get much more out of my pc system.
