O que os desenvolvedores têm a dizer:

Porquê Acesso Antecipado?

“I believe that the best game will be created together with the people who are playing the game. I also believe that the time is right. Over the past year the development have shifted more and more from engine and graphics programming to gameplay mechanics and content. Now is a fun time for you to play the game and take part in the development.”

Durante quanto tempo vai este jogo estar em Acesso Antecipado?

“A year is a good guess. After that development will go on as usual and I will continue to do regular updates and DLCs.”

Qual vai ser a diferença entre a versão final e a versão de Acesso Antecipado?

“There are many ways to play but the main game is the "start with nothing and build an empire". This is already possible in the Early access version. The full version will add challenge in the form of hostile mobs that will try to stop you. It will also add more content like better/more building tools, block types, materials, biomes, mobs and items.”

Qual é o estado atual da versão de Acesso Antecipado?

“In its current state the game offers countless of hours of fun and has infinite replay value. You can play the game or build whatever you want in the "Just Build" mode. The game is very stable. Current savegames will be compatible with future versions.”

O jogo vai ter preços diferentes durante e depois do Acesso Antecipado?

“The full game will be priced a bit higher then the Early Access version.”

Como estão a planear incluir a comunidade durante o desenvolvimento?

“The development process has been very open for years. I release new updates at a steady rate. I often ask questions to the community and take part in discussions and the feedback I get is of high value for me.”

This engine(not really a game yet) has had its' ups and downs.
You can make good looking stuff and having 3 different size blocks
helps out a lot. I bought this a long time ago and it does take quite a bit of time
between updates but it has always been updated at say a 1 to 2 month interval.
Should you buy it? I can't say. I'm happy to have it since I've had it for such a long time
and get some fun out of mucking around with it. If you want to play a game
right away then no. Wait and see. Keep it on the backburner cuz there is potential here
for something very good. But we all know how things can go north or south either one.

This is not only the most buggy game I have ever played it is also the most buggy early access game I have ever played. It was so buggy it was unplayable. I was shaking up and down in what looked like an amiga game.

I thought I saw a castle ruin but it was in fact, after some extensive loading, just a normal castle. If you play this and you feel the need to minimize the game all of the above will multiply all over the place. The map will look like a warzone of bugginess.

With that said, hope that this game will become playable one day as it looks promising.

Long ago, I bought an early alpha license to this game, which was very pretty but quite basic. So I forgot about it.
Now it's come to Steam, and it's changed rather dramatically. The view distance is phenomenal, the rendering is gorgeous eye-candy landcapes, and buildings work. Mountains are a realistic height, lakes and forests and ruins dot the landscape. It's an eye-opening experience wandering through their procedural generation.

Cons: It's slow to travel, rendering gets glitchy as you move (I have my settings maxxed, so taxing it a bit), and sometimes parts of trees, or whole forests, seem to fade in-and-out. It's a bit slow building, but probably because the smallest block size is itty bitty so a high level of detail is possible. The people are hideously ugly plastic atomatons. No mobs except bugs. Needs a world-edit type function for creative.

Still needs work, but well worth seeing. You can already build some impressive stuff, and get delicious screenshots.

And I haven't even tried multiplayer yet.

I haven't been able to play much of the game due to my computer being on the minimum end of requirments, and the fact that this game is heavy on CPU usage, but what i have been able to play i liked a lot. There are od course still some things that need smoothing out in the game but given that its still on early release those things will prob get adressed before full release. I think the realism sets it apart from Mincraft along with having more options of materials and block size to build with. I have 2 concerns though; Firstly, Its been a few months since the games last update and their are definatly still problems to fix so I hope updates will happend again soon; Secondly, I read on the blockscape website that the developer is going to change the game world by making it less realistic and more blocky like Minecraft. I think this is a big mistake since the realism is what i believe a lot of people are attracted to about this game. Minecraft already exists as well as a slew of others just like it. The reason i didn’t like Minecraft was because of the overly blocking graphics, it’s just not my thing. This game seemed perfect , but if Blockscape turns into Minescraft, I'll be very disappointed.

I actually played the demo to this several years back in really really early beta... Since its been on steam it seems to have stayed there to my disappointment. Its kind of like seeing an old friend on the street peddling drugs for money or sex. Its just sad... I really hope the devs get it together and work hard on the game to make it better. As of now it feels so empty and like the games been shelved.

This game is generally a really good game.

Clearly, the developers are on the right path because the game does pretty well in most perspectives, content, gameplay, graphics, and a bunch more.

The game has a lot of content to chose from to build with and good gameplay and absolutely beautiful graphics to hook anyone onto it.

And this game is voxelbased (obviously), just like minecraft, except the terrain is smooth and much more realistic, but it is still voxel based for a better building environment.

It is a game I really look forward to what it will become.

However, this game is an early access game, and it is a little buggy, but this doesn't mean broken features buggy, heck, I still haven't found anything broken, maybe some features buggy here and there, but not severe at all and the bugs don't really break the game much.

One of the bugs I experience is some bugs in the physics, such has getting my head stuck in half-bricks/slabs, y'know, little bugs like that.
But just give em' a little fix, and it's all better anyways.

Before I forget, the building system is a little bit complex so at times it gets to the point where building takes forever when building with the tinier bricks (blocks can come in different shapes and sizes), but hopefully the developers will realize that and fix it. But don't let that turn you down about this game. If it does, try and save this game's page and come back and check what progress the devs have made, because remember, this game is early access.

So to conclude this review, I totally recommend this.
I give this a 10/10, although I almost gave 9/10 because of the little bugs and the slow building, but the game is very new, and who knows, those issues may change, and the game is looking really good so far.

Finally, I can stop typing.
Hopefully this convinced you to help support the developers in the making of this really awesome game (if you found this game looking for a building game that fits your needs).

EDIT: The reviews saying the developer is done with this game or saying the developer is bad because of the inactivity as far as I can tell are wrong.
I have just looked at the site, and under "news" the latest post (on 10/1/2014) the developer states that they are not inactive, and he said that a new lighting solution is in the works, and working on coding to handle mods (his english wasn't that good, the developer's native language probably isn't english, so some parts I may have misunderstood, but I hope that means modding, which probably it does.

Also, for the post, just go to the website from the link above, or here:

Considering it seems like development so far has mainly focused on the aesthetics of the game, and the actual survival mode isn't very functional right now, Blockscape seems very promising as it currently is. People complain about the developer not answering them posting questions in the forums but it's still at the stage where that is only one person, and I guess you should keep that in mind deciding whether to buy it now or not.

It's currently pretty much all about the build mode, but there's already the possibility of making custom tools to build with, up to the size of 8x8x8M I think, which add a lot to that part of the game.

NPC crafting is also pretty interesting and not something I've seen in other games, currently they build roofs if you lay out a "roof zone" for them and put nice trimmings on doors and windows for you, and you can make them craft blocks. The crafting system seems kind of unbalanced right now in terms of how long things take but I think the idea is that the finished game will involve a kind of strategy element with the NPCs speeding up crafting.. basically, the game is still in really early development but it's very pretty and has some specific things about it which set it apart from similar things.

Blockscape is the most complex and beautiful voxel game ever created, even in its unfinished state. The landscapes are wide and idyllic, offering a great exploration and building area, and the game also has no vertical space limitations (z-axis). The combination of those caracteristics and the fact that the game is not restricted only to cubes, like in many other games of the same genre, gives you almost endless building possibilities. The game is very intuitive and straightforward, and many times you only need to learn how to combine different tools and materials.
If you ever wanted to build virtual monuments like pyramids, temples and castles that resembles those of real world, then definitely this game is for you!

I played this game a few years ago back when I was at Uni and the game blew me away then. However there wasn't enough to hold me other than the building possibilities. But that wasn't enough for me. But since then the game has developed further and it is starting to take shape. I am really impressed with the graphical fidelity of the game now, it just needs better gameplay mechanics, bug fixes and more content. The game is still alpha , early access, but it is already a fairly solid game and is only going to get better. I just hope the game continues to grow, the modding community expands and we start seeing the community getting more involved, more videos, more guides and perhaps some community builds!

I would couldn't rate this game at the moment because it is complete however if you want to support the developers then you should purchase the game, play around in the game, report bugs and suggest ideas.

Amazing game. In almost every way. The texture bugs are annoying but does not ruin the game experience completely. But there is room for improvments thought. If only the developer would get the updates comming more freqeuntly, I would be more than pleased.
If you like sandbox building games, you should buy blockscape sooner or later.

I only got this game like 20 minutes ago and im impressed with the amount of content squeezed in and quite stunned by the scenery.... but... the high quality is making my computer lagg which SUCKS, i am willing to put up with lower quality graphics for this game as it is quite entertaining! and would like the devs to consider it for us with crappy laptops!!!! :/ other than that AMAZING...Cannot compare minecraft to this the attention to detail in the crafting system trumps minecrafts anyday.

Even though I've only played Blockscape for 3 hours, that is enough to have experienced all it has to offer. Blockscape is reminiscent of Minecraft, there is no denying that. Does that make it a Minecraft clone? No, not yet. Will it be? That remains to be seen, but from what I've seen so far, I don't think so.

What I like

The graphics. It's a very beautiful looking *ahem* game.

The building. Blockscape offers many different shapes and sizes of blocks, so it's possible to build some very nice-looking structures. Likewise, because you can also carve so many different sizes of blocks from the landscape, it is possible to sculpt many nice-looking things.

The bugs. The only bugs I've found in Blockscape so far are crawling around on the ground. The programming seems very solid, and the developer seems to have spent a great deal of time making sure everything works as opposed to simply cramming new content into something that is a buggy, unplayable mess.

What I don't like

Well.... it would be unfair to list what I don't like here because what I don't like actually falls into the next category...

What I would like to see

More options.
  • Key binding. I'm left handed, and I can't stand using WASD.
  • Volume control. The music is loud enough to drown out my friends on TeamSpeak.
  • Mouse sensitivity. I would like to turn this down. My mouse jumps all over the place.
  • Intuitive UI. I spent much of my 3 hours poking around the keyboard just to see what was what.

At the moment, this is a game that I would play merely as a casual game. Something I can go to when I've got a few minutes to kill at a time, not something I would devote hours of game time to. If you can pick it up for $5, go for it, but I cannot recommend it at $19.99 at this time.

I thought it was going to be a fun game, little like Minecraft. But no it isn't its so buggy as hell I couldn't even place any blocks/remove them. After playing for a while parts of my world started to vanish then I was suddenly falling through the world then before I knew it I was back standing there.
I wouldn't buy it (in my opinion) its a good idea but way to damn buggy.

Little or no options in game, lots of missing stuff, so so world generator, clipping problems when tree leaves touch hillsides.
I would say this is very early access, if not labeled, it should say alpha version. Very dissapointed so far, I feel I have wasted my money buying this game....
wait for more updates till you buy....not worth buying as of right now, stick with Minecraft!
wish I could have my money back.

Game looks fantastic and is good and catches the eye, at first... Then the bugs start making themselves apparent. This game is awesome don't get me wrong but where is the dev? It had 3 updates in under a week or so after it hit steam then nothing, just nothing. No bug fixes means I can't play this game with confidence and I'm aware its in it's early access but carging $5 rather than the $20 seems like it would ease the buyers remorse that runs rampant with games like these. In short I suggest you follow this game if your interested, not buy it.

Load time is very slow even with everyting is on low put it this way i can run do something and 5 mins later its not done loading...

So come on DEV. step up and fix it and start patching the game.

As much potential as it may have, I found it impossible to do anything but break stuff... the crafting is very non-intuitive and despite being able to make a few basic parts, combining them continued to elude me. Until this game gets a stronger interface, I would NOT recommend it.

Great idea if not fully realized yet. Looks fantastic....and thats about it. Save game bug that doesn't save your structures. The people that spawn when you build a bed just walk around the bed and won't do anything else. Building is clunky and a pain. Tons of potential but the end is going to be way off.
