Proteus in the Humble Indie Re-Bundle 8, 1.2.1 patch

Hi!
From now until just under 21 hours time (until 11am PST 17 May 2014) Proteus is available as part of the 24-hour re-issue of Humble Indie Bundle 8. Go here to grab it: https://www.humblebundle.com/

We've also just uploaded patch 1.2.1 which is mostly a stability fix for OSX (but required a deceptively large amount of work, porting to SDL2)

Played in first-person, the primary means of interaction is simply your presence in the world and how you observe it. The procedurally generated islands are home to creatures natural and imagined, tranquil valleys and ruins with magical properties.

又是一款奇葩的文艺向游戏!

这游戏模式非常简单,程序随机生成一个岛屿,然后玩家以第一人称视角在岛上随便逛,嗯,完了,真的就这么简单。没有剧情,没有背景,没有文字,没有游戏性,但Metacritic的媒体竟然会给出如此高分,说实话我也感到很意外,毕竟比起游戏,本作更接近追求艺术性的实验作品,至少可以肯定的是它从娱乐角度上评价是相当失败的,因为缺乏固定的游戏目标和奖励机制,如果不能静下心来欣赏其意境的话,十有八九会感到无聊吧

不过从另一方面,本作确实可以给大家带来一些极其独特的体验~首先在视觉上本作就非常有特色,虽然岛屿显然是用3D引擎制作的,但作者却用纯色块来代替常规贴图,而且没有任何阴影效果,导致了视觉上的平面化,仅通过最基本的透视和远景迷雾来体现距离感,同时充满锯齿的粗犷画面有着极强的复古像素风,这种逆行倒施废除3D感回归像素的作法还是相当少见的

当然不光是让人眼前一亮的画面,动态岛屿其实也是一个非常有意思的设计,玩家在岛上看日出日落,看阴晴雨雪,经历春夏秋冬,在不同时间又有不同的植被和动物,岛上的一天(默认)是现实中的15分钟,每次玩家看到的都是一个熟悉而又有所不同的岛屿,通过不断在这个岛屿上探索,不断去寻找新的经历新的景色,辅以独特的画面风格,确实能找到不少惊艳的美景,同时作者也在岛上藏了不少彩蛋,有意无意地发掘这些彩蛋也让新的探索变得更加有意义

每个岛屿上都有固定的几个人造物作为地标,其中最为重要的地标是石圈,晚上在石圈中会有飞舞的光点,接近这些光点可以让时间快速流逝,而站在石圈中央会直接跳到下一个季度——游戏刚开始时是春天,通过石圈的时间跳跃三次直到冬天,而在冬天夜里玩家操控的视点会逐渐飘向空中,穿越云层,最终再也看不见岛屿,游戏到此结束,返回主菜单。如果不在一个季度停留多日看风景的话,一般走一遍流程大概也就一小时不到

总之这主要就是一款用来放松身心的“游戏”,如果比较急躁静不下心来欣赏的话还是远离这个作品比较好,对于大部分玩家也不值得推荐,因为真的没什么好玩的地方,倒是那些喜欢文艺作品、艺术性独立游戏的玩家非常推荐试试这款作品,在这个梦幻般恬静的小岛上散步,兴许会有不少心灵上的净化和感悟

一个很文艺的游戏,或者说就是步行模拟。风景真的很漂亮,带着一点点的现实与虚幻,就像在梦里一样。冲这个艺术风格也要点个赞。

Proteus is a first-person exploration simulator. In it, you play as an individual who comes across an island, free of any other people but with plenty of wildlife. You explore it through both day and night of each of the seasons, enjoying the ambient music, changing weather, and various randomly generated locations on the island. As you explore, some of the wildlife will react to you, and the music/surroundings will change depending on the season, weather, time of day, and what's near.

This is a recommendation only based on whether or not that sounds interesting to the player. It's well done, and entertaining for what it is. It is, however, a style of game which likely has limited appeal.

(7/10) Interesting little interactive design. Its not exactly a game on its own but it is an interesting place to explore for a while and expirament with. Not particularly deep or long but it doesn't really need to be to share its mood and tone with you.

Proteus isn't a game for everyone- or most people honestly. It's one of those things you'll either love or hate, perhaps similar to how people view Animal Crossing. Simply put, you walk around, see the sights and witness how things change through the seasons on a randomly generated island. Really it's about how you see it. There's no "plot" or objectives except what you make of it, there are little events and landmarks that you can find however. I'd recommend this game to people who just want to relax or do something calming. Honestly, whenever I play it invokes this sense of wanderlust and strange homesickness I'm not sure how to describe, but I personally keep coming back to now and again.

excellent piece of art and game soundtrack is awesome, like Shelter, Flowers on Playstation, but I feel like this game has some dark elements to the game added by the devs, lots of 'symbolism'.....especially that dark mod or whatever, it furthers this notion......that why I only played it for 13 minutes because of those 'symbolism'
