At first its development wasn't taken seriously but after extensive computer simulations, it became obvious that the project had promise. It is said that the constructor in charge of the ship development, was inspired by a weapon, used by the Emperor's guard.

Story

Three thousand years have passed since the first colonists left Earth. Now the galaxy is divided between the militant star empires and independent mercenary groups. In a remote corner of the galaxy — Sector 1337, the area of the dead — a world has been left behind. Here, the ruins of a great civilization of Aliens have recently been discovered. Huge factories and sprawling cities are falling into decay. Fragments of ships lie on the fields where massive battles were once fought. But there is not a living soul. Everything has been destroyed by a mysterious Cataclysm — a pulsing anomaly that burned out all life within this sector.

This doesn’t stop mankind, the new «owner» of the Universe. Mercenaries and adventurers have flocked to the sector to sift through the ruins and loot its abandoned artifacts, without consideration of the danger. Many have disappeared — including members of well-armed expeditions — but those who have managed to return have uncovered unprecedented riches. So looters continue to come here, to find the Aliens’ lost treasures — and to fight for them.

Abusive Admins. WARNING!!!!!

I want to give a positive review, I really do, but it feels dishonest to do so.

This game is plagued by its own development team. Unless you are a member of the Russian Master Race your problems and concerns are of no interest to them. The Devs do not want to support a non-Russian community, provide materials for the non-Russian Wiki, collect feedback from non-Russian players or even give complete patch notes to the non-Russian player base. They don't want to fix glaring issues with the game, they don't want to know about what you find fun, and they sure as hell don't want to provide a quality experience - that might get in the way of monetising you!

The core mechanics of the game are good, but used to be better. Much of the game's content is burdened by insane amounts of grind to coax money out of you, and other elements of the game are sealed behind paywalls to ensure proper Pay to Win behaviour is enforced.

Play it by all means - you can have fun providing you don't go beyond Tier 3 - but don't invest any money in it.

2)stupid russians servers that will take 5 mins to get in a match when half of the team are bots
3)if you see admin dont have different opinion than him or he will ban you
4)pay 2 win

At the start the game was very good now it just nothing

Once upon a time -
this was a fun game where you could do space dogfighting as though there was air. The factions were pretty starkly contrasted in their attributes and special abilities on ships making for some interessting choices. It had an OK progression for a FTP game - the premium content was actually more powerful than what could be gained from grinding but it wasn't gamebreaking.

Then came the evil wiz-----a patch.
Aaaand suddenly it doesn't suffice to grind enough "standing" - now you have to grind synergy to unlock new ships that might or might not have a similar ability to the one you currently grind. Abilities got spread around more and some ships received things that are completely pointless on that hull and should've stayed where they once were. Then they switched around the weaponsystems, removing the cool ones and limiting the selection for ships even more than it was before (where at least you could find cool weaponsystems for all classes of hulls). Once you actually grinded enough synergy you hopefully have an astronomic amount of currency to actually buy that new ship as well. Did I mention volunteer secondary missions that lock the ships you select for them out for up to AN ENTIRE WEEK? Yeah - very fun gameplay element that. The premium content is basically mandatory if you ever want to get anywhere.

Now it's a shipwreck (literally) of what it could've been, heck of what it WAS.

Its a fun/good space combat game, at least for the first few ranks, stuff is cheap level upping goes fast and the opponents aren't op yet. then the reality/moneygrabbing kicks in... I'd advice to play the first few ranks, and don't go ranking like a normal person would, instead stay in the low ranks and have fun. otherwise you'll get wooped by people who have paid.
in multiplayer you can get screwed over by teammates who don't know what they are doing.
It feels increb pay2win, I know thats a cheesy critique but thats the way it feels.
I had fun for a couple of hours, now ill delete it.

Used to be a great game but fell apart as everything dumbed down. Don't get me wrong, I loved this game with a passion, but as each update passed. It became worse. Simpler *the bad kind* and a pay to win. Its sad. But its the ultimate truth.

Do not bother.

The grind is massive. The gameplay is repetetive. Ballance is horrible. Low tiers are full of squads who have been playing this game for a long time, but come to low levels to kill new players in their fully equiped and upgraded ships.

Horrible expirience.

Awesome concept and solid gameplay
Horrible balancing and community
Fun when you aren't getting smurfed or teamstomped, but that's very rare

I had also purchased a DLC pack less than 2 weeks before a patch that made premium ships almost pointless, felt very much like bait and switch

Pay 2 win game,

The game is fun with friends, but when you must queue by yourself (because no one plays the god damn game) at higher tier you're screwed.

What's even worse is leveling ships, a horrible cancerous grind because starting with the worst modules and you'll lose most of the time (against paid ships and purple level modules/weapons), and since it's based on performance you'll get little to nothing and spend hours doing PvE instead.

There's free roam which takes hours getting place to place for a daily mission
There's PvP with leveling ships vs paid ships (not really balanced at all then since lower ships vs higher ships)
There's PvE which is the only thing worth doing, but you must wait for the "good ones" since some take forever or difficult.

And that's all there is, I never cared for this game, i only feel the developers tugging at my wallet.
If you like mindlessly grinding for hours, this is your game.

There is no controller support for Mac. And there isn't any customer support to speak of. Don't download this game if you want to use a joystick made for Mac/PC or Xbox alike, simply won't work and support will just refer you to the forums without putting a thought into whether your issue is legitimate or not.

I really love the gameplay, it's fantastic and the graphics are breathtaking. If you like using a mouse and keyboard for a simulator, download this game, because it is wonderful for that. The draw of a simulator for me is being able to use controllers to more fully immerse myself in the world. I was really hoping this would be the case for Star Conflict, but it's not.

It's a shame I have to go back and find it going to hell.
Do yourself a favor and go play something else.

My guess is the community has been forgotten, or admins are simply in an advantageous position over the actual head ups.
The game stopped being a game and now it's just like some country with a heavy civil war and dictatorship

Pros
- Game combat can be enjoyable, not always though, in fact mostly not enjoyable unless you're fully decked out with equipment.
- Open space mode can have really nice battles between corporations, but not often enough.
- Graphics and effects are nice, could use a optional graphic pack for 4k texture.

Cons
- A lot of ping issues, which is the reason for your ship wobbling on its own. The admins just tell you to read over a connection issue forum post, but new players shouldn't have to do that, and instead the servers should be good enough, and setup well enough. Like good hosts that have the best location for the players on the game with good networking.

- The game is really really grindy, not as bad as some other games, but could be more focused on having fun.

- Once you reach Tier 3 pvp, it becomes really difficult for new pilots to adapt, and have any chance. Usually the reason why people quit the game. They enjoy it until T3, which is when they meet fully equipped, mk4 premiums that are almost impossible for new pilots to do anything.

- Not enough population on the game, all bad factors contribute to this, and its only getting worse.

- A few ships feel like they are pay-to-win, not saying they are, but having bonuses they are seen as p2w, such as the Spark, a lot of veterans use it because of the advantages over the Lightbringer. Mauler has advantages over Inquisitor AE. Dessert Eagle and Nukem I are a clear advantage over any of gunships in T3.

- Isn't really enjoyable playing alone, in order to enjoy the game fully, being in a team is needed, which is hard to play as a team.

- People have the image that are non-US corps cheat, which would probably be something to do with ping. Most of the Russian corps in game always seem to kill you faster then what anyone else would be able to do, again, probably because of ping.

- Teamwork isn't encouraged by the game, being in a squad will take forever to get a match. Which is ridiculous, but thats the game for you.

- Developers released dreadnoughts, and basically said "Hey, here are 3 dreadnoughts, you can't change them after you chose one, and here is no information about each of them. Chose wisely." They don't give us information we need to make good choices in game.

- There is a story about a corp, I will not speak of the corp or the user who got banned, but the user had an argument with a moderator, not a terrible argument, and this was on the forums. The user got banned from both the forums and in game for around 45 years. The corp he was a part of were going to speak up against the issue, but decided to quit instead, a medium/large size corp mostly quit together because of a moderators action. The corp leader even put tons of money into the game to help it.

I do not recommend as there is to many problems with a game that has so much potential.
If people think the game is so good, then people shouldn't be leaving. Being blind to the reasons the game is bad will waste your time and money.

First I was very happy to find this game. Its a Shooter not a Simulation.
Was telling an interested friend "wow - i can totaly personalize my ship (modules, weapons, crew, ...)".
But i kind of wrong: The Game was cool until Tier III. But then you will have to pay or accept it as your new 8h-Job and forget about real life.
So its more a DEMO than F2P!
Like some others said, its big fun in the beginning, but if you dont want to pay it becomes boring very fast, because of the need to level up and so the need to do lame PvE-Missions or endless PvP-Matches (waiting to start: 2-6 minutes, around 4 players and 2 stupid bots). First i didn't think "lame PvE-Missions" and "stupid bots" but if you have to do them 20-30 times just to level up and get a ship which is worse than your actual one, because its fresh and not leveled, you begin to forget very or less fast that this is/was a fun game and not your boring job.

It's no really P2W (for example you can't upgrade your weapons and modules for money) but you got to pay to have fun playing it over Tier 3 or 4.
If they would call it a Demo my review would be positive.

I find this game fun. Though its my opinion.

Progression: You progress very quickly through the first two tiers, and maybe tier 3 as well. For some people things slow down at tier 4, for some people they say it grinds to a halt. Solution to that, get synergy levels with lower tier ship to increase fleet strength. 30% fleet strength=+30% synergy. You can also buy a premium account but you don't have to, to progress. You may have a problem earning credits, if you do its probably because you are buying or upgrading everything you can. While upgrading stuff does help, it doesn't do that much, a ships with Mk4 modules will have a slight advantage compared to a ship with Mk3, Mk2 or Mk1 modules, but that can easily be made up for with just a little more skill. I stay very competitive while having mostly Mk1 and Mk2 modules. I only really upgrade modules when i have a kit for it or if i use the certain ship alot. For instance the only ships that I have all Mk4 or M3 stuff for is some Tier 1 or 2 things, as well as the ships I use for tournaments. And because I don't do that at the moment of writing this I have (slightly over) 25 million credits. And keep in mind that module upgrades don't do that much per upgrade and can be made up for with just a little more skill.

Pay2win?: I don't really know where people get this from, (if you would like to tell me i would be more then happy to see why you think its pay to win.) Premium ships when you compare it to similar ships of its tier, for instance compare the Blood Tormentor to the Crus S, the blood tormentor seems to have better stats right? Well that's because you are comparing a ship with max synergy and a ship with lvl0 synergy. I don't know why the developers show the ships this way, maybe its to try and persuade the buyer into think that he/she is buying something that is better the nits counterpart when it really isn't. It probably worked on some people though... Also upgrading modules with gold gives you extra synergy but doesn't enhance the module or weapon by any more then just upgrading it with vouchers or credits or a kit or whatever other ways you can upgrade them.

Admin Abuse?: I haven't experienced this but from what I have heard you will get instantly banned by Russian admins if you have a different opinion about something(or them, probably them.) So I guess I will have to take their word for it since I can't prove the opposite.

Ridiculously hard PvE missions?: Maybe for some people, But the point of the PvE missions is they are supposed to be more difficult, and that's why you get such a greater reward for completing one. And no they are not impossible if you have lower rank ships, and if you get people that constantly don't know what they are doing (which is kinda unlikely to constantly get those types of players) then just ask some friends to squad up and do some PvE with you. It makes it alot easier. My corporation always has members online and there is always someone that will want to squad up for PvP or PvE. Me and 3 other corp members have beaten Rank 10-15 PvE missions using Rank 11 and Rank 12 ships. (though its easier when you do have higher rank ships)

Balance issues?: Its your opinion, the only thing that i think can get unbalanced is when there are two many of one type of ship, ships have roles that counter other ships,(fighters have tacklers which take down interceptors effectivly, Command ships which are very helpful for the team and can sort of do whatever, gunships are very good for dealing high damage in a short ammount of time to make them effective at taking down whatever. Also another balance issue i have is Tier 5 interceptors can get a little bit to durable(depending on how you build or setup your ship) and make them really hard to kill.

So my conclusion, fun game which is normally balanced, the grind wont be to hard if you follow the advice (some of my friends have around 60% fleet strength which means +60% synergy for battles. and yes you can go over 100%) While the admins dont have the best record you probably won't run into many problems with the admins (if you argue with me then your probably just that kind of person) try it out and you dont need to spend any money

just so you guys know i have a friend with a premium account and he makes around 650K per Tier4-Tier5 PvE battles that he finishes

Thanks to Pyrosaur, I've been playing this a bit, and have to commend the producers for a good space flight simulator and combat game with a fair amount of variety. My only complaints are the long wait times to play the short skirmishes, and the unfairness experienced occassionaly upon encountering others who have elected to pay to win. I'm surprised that during the long waits we are not bombed by advertisements yet, as there must be an established captive audience. I would give this a solid 3 out of 5 stars.

Love it, only downside being that ships progress into better versions of themselves, not sidegrades, and you can end up fighting someone with a better version of your ship, i.e. is not a balanced playing field.

There is a definate pay to win streak, but you get a great into to the game playing free and the cost is less then other MMOs.

lots of fun, like wot but in space and lot less pay 2win. I would also love if the game had a larger player base, my biggest and only problem really is the fact that it takes from 0 seconds-3 minutes to get me in a match. Now it is usually less than a minute which is awesome and heck its even better than League of Legends but sometimes it can span over 4 minutes in periods of downtime. I really enjoy the player base they are fun and cannot stress how much I would recommend the game. It is 3rd person which i would love to be fixed a.k.a FPSSSSSS style but yolo. Spaceships are really great. If u cant buy elite dangerous right now and jsut want to shoot stuff up? Star conflict is ur man!

There are a lot of people who dislike this game. Before you believe what they say, go and look at how long they have played. If it is less than 100 hours, I guarantee they are still learning how this game works. I have TONS of time invested in this game, and I can honestly say this is the best game I have ever played. Why? Well, it's free for starters, and that's a huge plus.

Many free games favor premium players—the ones who actually pay for in-game content—so that the incentive becomes to pay for content to gain the upper-hand. While there is premium content in this game, it is not at all overpowered. In fact, there are many veteran players like myself who choose regular ships over premium ships because we know the real difference between them and can make the right decision. The truth is, while there are plenty of people who Pay to Win in this game, they do not win because of their money. They win because of their time spent learning this complex game and growing from each battle—every win, every defeat.

There is plenty wrong with this game, however, but I see it more as a challenge than a hinderance. First, the developers are Russian, so it is difficult to be in contact with them. This might seem minor, but it has grown to become one of the biggest issues in the community. However, much of the community is active on the forums, so we do have some contact, but mostly with moderators and game masters. Secondly, the game is hardly advertised. Obviously, this is a problem. But the BIGGEST problem in the game is the lack of players, which kind of comes from the aforementioned issues. I do not believe this issue will last, however; many are coming to the game because it is exciting, and it is growing...albeit slowly.

I really do love this game; it's a wondrous space-fighter with plenty of action and ships to choose from. The grind in this game is very long, but it's worth it. To be honest, it has to be this long because of how complex it is. Too many people simply buy their way into T5 (the highest rank) and end up really bad. Why? Because they did not play their way to the top like most others. This might be the longest way, and it might well be the most annoying way, but it is by far the best way to become good at this game.

So, if you are on the fence about whether or not to try this game, please, trust me—it is definitely worth a try. What have you got to lose besides time? It's well worth the time if you enjoy blowing things up, that's for sure. Also, if you love space fighters, this is a game to check out and keep at it.

Do not give up in the beginning. It is hard. It is REALLY hard, especially when all the ships in T1 (the lowest rank) are all terrible. When you get into T3 (basically the mid-game), you will see the game's beauty. The epic fights, the ferocious clashes, the immense strategy.

Play this game, you will not regret it unless you give up.
