New location "Fort Muerto"

20 Agosto 2014

Border sector FX-1 has become a haven for pirates of all sorts, who freely call it ‘New Tortuga’. Since the beginning of the Invasion, renegades have organized a complex black market of artifacts and experimental alien technology. And for those who have the money and connections, pirate engineers may well help equip the ship with alien technology.

The last pirate recruitment operation to recruit was successful — in exchange for an official amnesty and a significant amount of credits, the Pirates agreed to steal artifacts and alien technology from their base of operations.

Informazioni sul gioco

Star Conflict is an action-packed, massively multiplayer space simulation game that puts players in the role of elite pilots engaging in a widespread interplanetary skirmish.

Three thousand years have passed since the first colonists left Earth. Now the galaxy is divided between the militant star empires and independent mercenary groups. In a remote corner of the galaxy — Sector 1337, the area of the dead — a world has been left behind. Here, the ruins of a great civilization of Precursors have recently been discovered. Huge factories and sprawling cities are falling into decay. Fragments of ships lie on the fields where massive battles were once fought. But there is not a living soul. Everything has been destroyed by a mysterious Cataclysm — a pulsing anomaly that burned out all life within this sector.

This doesn’t stop mankind, the new «owner» of the Universe. Mercenaries and adventurers have flocked to the sector to sift through the ruins and loot its abandoned artifacts, without consideration of the danger. Many have disappeared — including members of well-armed expeditions — but those who have managed to return have uncovered unprecedented riches. So looters continue to come here, to find the Precursors’ lost treasures — and to fight for them.

Key Features:

  • A Fleet at Your Fingertips - Take command of varied battleships, from nimble scouting ships to heavy frigates loaded with guns and rockets. In due time, you can command your own fleet.

  • Choose Your Path - Each ship can be used for strategic missions—investigate the area, hunt enemies from the shadows, or gain support from allies. The impressive arsenal of weapons and gadgets available will help with your success.

  • If You’re Not With Us, You’re Against Us! - Form an alliance with friends to create a deadly squadron of elite pilots. Enter your name in the annals of Universe history. Send enemies scrambling when they see your ship approach!

  • Gain Experience and Skill - However strong and dexterous you are as a pilot, there’s always room to improve. Develop your abilities, establish specialized skills, and perfect your tactics. You could rush into battle full-force, operate stealthily from a distance, or sneak around your enemies and strike a crushing blow from behind — the strategy is up to you!

Alright, so I am re-writing this review and I am unfortunately no longer recommending this game. Star Conflict is one of my favorite games of all time, but after the past few months the game has actually gotten worse. Every single update we’ve received has simply made the game less and less fun. They have made it a pain in the ♥♥♥ to continue playing. As of now I've clocked in more hours into Star Conflict than any other Steam game I own and it kills me to be writing a negative review for this game, but understand I am not writing a negative review because I don’t think it is a good game, but I am writing this because I do not like what they are doing with the game. The game has become a Pay-To-Win; they keep on adding ways to spend your money in-game. With “Sales” and more Premium Ships and “Ship Bundles” and all these “Specials Weekends”. Don't waste your money on them. However if you really want some Premium credits, wait for the DLC Packs to go on sale. Not worth it at full price. I understand that it is a free game and Stargem needs to make money, but it is just driving me crazy because They are spending more time on adding ways to get players to spend money on the game than they are actually developing the game! Also note you should never get too comfortable with the updates; expect change. However it is still a very fun and addicting game. It is still a good game. (With maybe a little too much grinding involved...) But Stargem just needs to stop trying so hard to get people to spend money on the game. I would give the actual game itself an 8/10 :]

I've been putting a lot of hours into this game. It's generally good game in terms of gameplay, variety and battles but I'll list out the major cons:

-Extremely grindy

-Despite being called "free to play", people can just pay and advance to higher tiers/ranks. Lets call them Wallet players

-Wallet players who reach higher tiers will get all implants (implants are like the point system tree in borderlands, payday 2 etc)

-Wallet players who have all these implants can go back to lower tiers, are pretty much invincible and have the upper hand in every battle. YOU WILL GET YOUR ♥♥♥ HANDED TO YOU.

Now you may ask Oh my, why would they come back to lower tier games and spoil our fun?. I'll tell you why...
People think this game is really free to play and come into the lower tiers which are the only popluated matches available for instant battles. So the wallet players will just come into lower ranked games because nobody wants to wait 5 minutes for match. This is unsportive behaviour.

-The game developers only seem to update the game in a way that favours wallet players.

-Extra synergy (synergy is experience, you need this to access higher rank ships and higher tiers) cannot be transferred to ships which dont have full synergy. If you want to, you need to pay a lot of money.

-Upgrading weapons to the max requires loyalty points (these can be done by doing special challenges like 'kill 3 ships in one battle'. These challenges are called contracts) And this requires another longg rinding process because contracts can only be done certain times. Some contracts can only be done once per day. Or you can just pay money and upgrade your weapons.

-The game has an option to enable the profanity filter to filter explicit words for the faint hearted man-children. Despite this, uttering an explicit word in a moment of frustration will get you chat muted. This has happened to me countless times.

Now you might say "Oh you're just talking out of your behind, there's no such thing as paying to get an advantge in this game!"

You are either blind and didn't read all the above

OR

You already spent a ♥♥♥♥ton of money on the game and are comfortable knowing that you spent $$$ on digital flying machines.

ANY game that offers you the chance to pay money and progress in any way that puts you in a place that is unreachable to the common player without tremendous grinding is known as "Pay to win". And this game is a shining example of it.

The game itself is a very nice-looking space shooter with the balance between realism and fun tipping towards the fun part for an overall good experience.

A nr of things made me finally uninstall it though:

- Yes theoretically you can progress through the game without buying credits, but in practice the long grind needed to play that way quickly kills the fun factor.

- All game modes require queueing to get a certain minimum of players added to the matches. Unfortunately the current matching process means you'll spend more time waiting than playing.

- There is a prominent 'Customization' button center bottom of the UI. This button leads to a menu where credits can be spent for paintjobs and decals for your ships. You get a tiny amount of such credits through tutorial and as some rewards, but for any real customizing you will have to spend actual cash. I get it, they have to make money, but why for the love of Pixels and Bits does that button have to keep flashing every 3 seconds?? It keeps drawing attention even knowing what it is, because in every other UI such a flashing means THERE IS SOMETHING IMPORTANT HERE YOU NEED TO LOOK AT! This single thing finally ended up irritating me enough to uninstall the entire game. Sorry dudes, but intentionally badgering me to spend credits, in this game or anywhere else, will ALWAYS make me do exactly the opposite.

This game had everything working for it. It had the graphics, core gameplay, balance, game modes and fair F2P experience. Then came along the 'Dev's vision' where they told all the beta testers that they will revamp the game. Overhaul what was nearly a F2P gem?? It needed more polish/content and that's all. My corporation (ingame clan) was #1 for so long and we had the best 100 players from around the globe. We all protested the new 'vision' because it would crush the fun of the game. The patch got downloaded and the corp dissolved within 1 week. The game isn't worth your time now. All they care about is squeezing money from your wallets. Not recommended unless they rollback the new 'vision'.
