評論

“Analogue is a sit-up-and-take-notice achievement in storytelling, in interface, in research, in mechanics and in moral ambiguity.”
Alec Meer, Rock Paper Shotgun
“It was like watching a horror movie, knowing what was about to happen and curious only how awful the director’s willing to get. Love is not gratuitous but doesn’t disappoint – the fate of the Mugunghwa, and the event that precipitated it, is as valid as it is appalling.”
Matt Sakey, Tap-Repeatedly

Novel contains explicit adult contents, and the plot is deep and dark. Therefore it is not suitable for children and early-teens.

There are 2 distinctive AIs that plays the role of narrating and advancing the plot for you. These 2 AIs have totally opposite personality, and such they reveals 2 different plot-lines for you to read and understand the history and mystery of the "apocalyptic" event that happened. This "unreliable narrator" mechanic is what makes a visual novel so much more interesting and entertaining than conventional book novel.

The first few entries aren't that exciting, but as I uncover more story along the way, they gives me the urge to continue on. The logs are so carefully crafted, that almost every entry contains a mystery that tickle my curiosity to find out what happens next. The plot are mostly dark and sad, full of love and hate. The few happy moments in the game helps to further contrast the rest of the sadness.

There are a lot of waifu moments in the game. I am not a big fan of waifu games, but I do find them quite entertaining in this game. They serve as great timeouts in-between reading, helps me clear my mind and combat read-exhaustion.

There are a few occassions that you need to type some unix-like commands into the ship's console. There is also a timed-puzzle event in the game, which is very easy to solve if you're a gamer. In my opinion, these puzzle elements are completely unnecessary and breaks the mood for novel reading, but they do enhance the unreliable-narrator mechanic and further establish the 2-distinct personality of the AIs.

The background music is very nice, a mix of Korean-Asian styled theme played with clean modern-futuristic digital music. The music also blends nicely with the mood of the logs you are currently reading, as well as the personality of the current active AI you are interacting with.

There is one thing that I struggle in this game: I find it very difficult to remember Korean names. I had to re-read many logs to fully understand what's going on sometimes.

If you do not hate reading, this novel is definitely worth a try.

For achievement hunters
A minimum of 4 play-thrus are needed to 100% this game. All the achievements are very easy to obtain, just read the description or refer to a guide.

My score: 8/10

A fun Visual Novel to read through.

Pros
  • Simplistic UI.
  • Good writing.

Cons
  • One instance that can stop your progression with either characters (but can still get an ending).

Well that was fun.

Quite short, reading all those reviews of people nagging that this game is too long and has just text I was expecting a behemoth of Umineko proportions. But nope. I've played it less than 6 hours and I already 100% it (which requires almost 3 playthroughts) so you can tell it's really short.

Interesting premise that could have been awesome if not for the dating sim/moe waifu/anime tropes galore.

Won it for free so I can't complain either way.

Laughing at all the confused people crying in hopeless despair "is this feminist?", "is this an sjw thing?", "let's talk about the elephant in the room, this game is feminist" in the forums. I'm gonna go to all eroge/anime pages here on steam and start asking "is this misogynist?", "is this a dude-bro thing?", "let's talk about the elephant in the room, this game is woman-hating at it's worst". What a delightfully silly way to spend one's time.

Laughing even more because this "review" won me a hater that actually went to all of my reviews in order to vote them down...and also ironicaly vote them as funny. What a way to spend your time. So much fury, yet so little brain. I love y'all!

This is a game I highly recommend. It's a little different from your usual visual novel formula. There's no dating, no romance, well... per se.

You are a space explorer who was hired to investigate the wreckage of a long lost ship whose disappearance has been a mystery for the ages. The ship is silent, it's crew long dead, the only remnants of life are the two AI programs Hyun-ae and Mute. Together you dig through the archives and records trying to piece together what went wrong.

This game is it's own prequel in a way, you already know how it ends you just need to take the journey to find out how it got there. If you're a fan of visual novels I definitely recommend you give this melancholy story a read, it'll be well worth your time.
