"Like a loveletter to Gradius, Satazius brings slower paced, power-up oriented gameplay for cheap. It's still challenging, but also strangely cozy."

This is a really fun space shooter that feels a lot like Gradius. The music is nice. The enemies and backgrounds look great. Just like in Gradius you can have many different weapon configurations. After each stage you earn a new weapon. This is not a hardcore bullet hell shooter. It feels a lot more releaxed and the difficulty is not that punishing because you have many continues and don't need to play all of the stage again if you die. Worth your time.

This is the best side scrolling old-school shooter I've ever played! Very enjoyable, first choose your loadout based on the enemies in the level. Then kill everything on the screen, pick up power ups to help you defeat the very challenging but satisfying boss fights! Highly Reccomended!

Niv score : 90

P.S, it also appears Capcom is experimenting with trading cards using this game, you'll notice this game is not marked it has cards but it does! C'mon Capcom cards for everything!

An excellent, traditional shoot-'em-up from Astro Port.

From the colourful, weighty visual work and sound direction to some of the strongest '80s/90s-style' shooter game design I've seen in a while, nearly every aspect of Satazius comes together to make for a thrilling game all around. Pad controls generally feel good, the action is exciting, the game is suitably twitch-based and the whole thing is just a joy to play.

Recommedend to all shoot-'em-up fans. In fact, I'm sure even a few with little experience in the genre will have a good time, considering how slick a of a production this is.

But mainly, it's just good fun. You do like fun, right? No? How about millions of explosions then?

Satazius is HARD, There's no getting away from that fact, this game will make you want to pull hair off parts of your body you did not even know you had hair on. Satazius features an arsenal of 13 types of upgradeable weapons, power-ups, obstacles and boss encounters that arcade veterans will enjoy getting to grips with. Customize your ship by selecting two side weapons which can be selected at any time during and a charge attack to unleash massive destruction.

This game is not for the casual gamer as even i struggle to get to grips with its seemingly bipolar difficulty curve, good luck guys i highly recommend this game to the bullet hell "vet" out there. The sound track is great, its a metal retro mix of high speed loops and fast guitar riffs that really set the mood and get your blood pumping.

At first navigating the menus can be a hassle as the game does not tell you what button is mapped to Enter is Z if your wondering, apart from that the menus are simple and easy enough to navigate and the game even supports gamepad support, however i have not tried to use it myself so that's a mystery i shall leave to you guys.

I was actually fairly impressed with the graphics in this game, granted there nothing spectacular however if this game was released alongside with r-type HD it would defiantly have given it a run for its money, as this games has a much higher pixel density and the animations are so fluid they look almost as good as another game called intrusion 2 witch features one of the best animated boss's i have ever seen

So the bottom line this game has great features and a great soundtracks but does not do anything new and fresh to this genre and missed out on a mark here, however with that said if your feeling a little bit sadistic then go on put your patience to the test, this game for me gets.....

Good ole shmup bad assery. I am still working on Normal mode at this time, and I am loving every moment of it. The weapon upgrade system gives you some learning curve/fun making you figure out which works best for each level/enemy. There are moments where you have to quickly navigate through small areas while avoiding smashing into stuff/getting blasted into scraps. \m/ (=_=) \m/ The Music gets me pumped, and the SFX are choice. The game isn't that long, but the harder difficulties give it decent replayability. I love this game. Classic Game Room Sent me. SATAAAZIUUUUUS!

This game could be called Salamander and it still wouldn't remind me of Gradius more than it already does. To me, that's a good thing. I'm enjoying it a lot.

I like horizontal shooters, but I've never really been a huge fan of how punishing the bullet-hell genre can be.

This game is a nice solution to that tiny problem. Easy mode would be perfect for younger kids, normal mode is a good introduction to the game for the average player, and the higher unlockable difficulties are where the real challenge starts. If you are a pro of this genre, it might be a little annoying to play through normal mode before you get to the hard stuff, but don't worry, it's a fairly quick playthrough, and it's certainly entertaining in the mean time.

There is a nice variety of weapons, allowing you to choose whether you want hyper-focused high-damage attacks, spread-attacks, or even homing shots. Weapon powerups are nicely spread throughout the level, and they can be hidden slightly off-screen, requiring you to explore a bit once the levels open up.

The graphics are old-school and fantastically-done, and the music fits the game like a glove.

If you like the sidescrolling shooter genre (Raptor, Stargunner, Gradius, Radirgy, ThunderForce, etc), then you owe it to yourself to pick this game up.

Yeah!.......another old school retro side-scrolling shooter with loads of weapons to choose from, upgrades to choose from, boss battles to fight, and reasonably challenging levels to play through; (not too easy, not too hard). This is an ideal starter for newcomers to the genre; it's cheap, (only a measly £4.49 {approx $6.50}), and it's dead easy to play. You can even use your joystick or controller' if you've got one;. (I used my Saitek joystick as i'd just been playing HAWX 2 and it was a joy to play with rather than have to use the keyboard controls). You can customise your ship and include several weapons that can be cycled through to take advantage of different in game situations.

The graphics are colorful and any one familiar with the games of old (circa 1980's - 90's) this will bring back memories of the time spent in the arcades competing against your friends (money well spent), then playing them on the first console back in the mid to late 80's

A classic-style 16 bit era-like horizontal shooter.
Various primary and secondary weapon systems to pick from the get go.
Fast paced and hard to beat levels and bosses.
It's like time traveling into an alternative past where Gradius got turned into one of the big shot games for the SNES.
Controller recommended. Play this.

I was looking through some random forums for decent old school space ship shooters on Steam, and Satazius was mentioned "A LOT", I thought "Satazius huh? Kinda sounds like Gradius, I'll give it a whirl".... And my god, if sounding like Gradius is one thing, looking and playing like Gradius is another.

Satazius is an exceptional game that has CAPCOM's seal of approval, and it's one of the better inde shooters I've played. Basically take Gradius, and take away all of it's medication, force feed it a diet of protein shakes and suffering, then you'll have something that doesn't even come close to Satazius, this game is hard as hell!!! The beautiful thing about Satazius is that the similarities are all there, but it's not a shameless rip-off. For a starts it's way harder, and it's a lot prettier.

I find it difficult to write about shooters like this, well because they're pretty much the same. But the moral of the story here is "Why fix what is not ultimately broken." If CAPCOM put its stamp on it, then it's got to be good right? That's Satazius, an old school side scrolling space shooter, that get's everything right, no complaints from me. Take it from someone who plays these games non-stop.

... And seriously... Good luck with this one, it's well hard!

Like Gradius? Like shooting every single thing that comes on the screen and smiling in satisfaction as they easily go "boom"?

Then get this game. For $6, it's a pretty solid and fun Shmup game that keeps me coming back. Although not nearly as punishing as Gradius, it's more of an introductory-type thing for someone who isn't a huge fan of how teeth-grinding other shmups are. Don't be fooled by my playtime on here, on my old steam account I had 13+ hours on this damn game. Lots of weapons and customization, great replay value, and some REALLY fun bosses. Graphics, however, are pretty decent- but it's always satisfying to see things explode.

My only complaints? You can almost instantly kill the majority of the bosses with your 'charge' power (especially on easy mode) and the level designs really aren't that great. Also, a more engaging soundtrack wouldn't hurt, as I find myself getting bored with it after a while. Don't get me wrong- it's chill, but a bit too chill for my tastes.

It's great fun for people who like casual shmups and are looking for a pretty easy and chill one. If you're looking for a hard, punishing game that'll hand your ♥♥♥ back to you on a decor silver platter with fancy raspberry sauce and a cherry ontop, skip this one.

Very solid Shmup. Uses elements from major other games like R-Type, Gradius or Salamander, and uses them very well. The difficulty is suited for everyone. and the level design is quite close to Gradius V, but adds a little something to it. I loved the boss fights.
