Bu Oyun Hakkında

The year is 2051. Location: SATAZIUS, a long-abandoned planet.
The cruiser Agano was on patrol when it was attacked and stricken by a confederacy of space pirates that had established a base on SATAZIUS. The pirates attacked the Agano intending to steal the assault ship ‘Trafalgar’ that was stowed aboard the Agano, but the Trafalgar made a successful emergency escape.
The crew of the Trafalgar calculated the probability of successfully escaping the pirate overrun planet at 0.02%; the probability of charging into and successfully destroying the pirate base was 1%. Taking the higher probability escape plan, the crew of the Trafalgar turned their ship toward the pirate horde and began their charge into the heart of SATAZIUS.
SATAZIUS is an awesome old school side-scrolling arcade shooter by accomplished indie developer ASTRO PORT (Gigantic Army, Armed Seven, Supercharged Robot Vulkaiser), featuring an arsenal of 13 types of upgradeable weapons, power-ups, obstacles and boss encounters that arcade veterans will enjoying getting to grips with. Customize your ship by selecting two side weapons which can be cycled and deployed at any time during the action, and a charge attack to unleash massive destruction.
There is a plethora of enemy ships to shoot down, tight spaces to navigate, power ups to grab, and bonuses to acquire. Featuring great stage design, a thumping techno soundtrack, fast and outstanding action, old school graphics and giant bosses, SATAZIUS is a true throwback to old-school arcade shoot ‘em ups, replete with homages which will be instantly recognizable to fans of arcade shooters.

Key features:

  • 13 upgradeable weapons to choose from
  • 4 difficult levels allowing accessibility for new players while challenging veterans as well
  • Varied and exciting stage design
  • Massive bosses
  • Winner of the August 2008 Jikkyo Play Contents Award

I have been playing a few shmups of late mostly on my megadrive, Gynoug,Thunderforce 4, Rtype 3 on the GBA and also Gradius rebirth on the WII. Thunderforce being my favoirate shmup. This although not as good as Thunderforce is still a pretty good shmup for only a couple of quid probably on par with Gradius Rebirth in quality however is more playable due to the lower difficulty. Powerful feeling weopens, plenty of onscreen action with a tirade of bullets and enemies barely allowing you to escape by the skin of your teeth. Should tide me over until I buy hellfire or Musha (probably a repro at these prices) on the megadrive.

I'm a huge fan of Gradius, and I mean a really huge fan, when I saw this game,. I wasn't expecting much, but I'll admit this is a good tribute to the series. This is a good Gradius clone with some mechanics added. For one thing you can alter your weapons in each of it's six stages. There's a good variety, especially the homing weapon which are the hunters from Thunder Force. The stages themselves are nice, but will challenge you as you progress, and it doesn't get easy on the higher difficulties. Graphica are good, and the music is good, especially the boss theme.

This game has some of the Gradius features in them. It has bosses with cores you have to destrou, even a boss rush with those Zubs that appear and hone in on you, especially a secret boss on the boss rush on hard diffiuclt like Heaven's Gate from Gradius Gaiden. It even has a damn speed section that I always struggle on, as well as a walker on the last stage like in Gradius II. If you're a fan of Gradius, you'll love this.

If you go in looking for a 'Gradius' style game 'SATAZIUS' fits the bill very well. However, cribbing off an aged format keeps 'SATAZIUS' from moving the genre forward and including more modern features.

The graphics while off-putting hides an extremely competent shooter. I was surprised by how tight the control was as well as the usefulness of the upgrades. I made it to the 2nd phase of the 1st boss fight before I realized that steam link isn’t the way to play this.

As hard as R-type and just as fun. Will be finishing this one for sure

Pretty good shmup. Lot's of stuff to shoot and dodge. Even with all the things on screen at once, no slow down at all.

Biggest gripe would be probably be the weird configuration when using the steam controller. Can't seem to configure properly and right now, the B button is set as the exit or quit button. You can imagine how irritating this can be when you're doing really well and you accidentally hit that button.

Highly recommended - one of the best horizontal/(with vertical movement of screen sometimes also!) scrolling shoot 'em ups I've played on Steam. Your ship wil become very powerful very fast - with really nice enemies and explosions. Love the graphics and gameplay on this. Now with Steam Achievements also. High recommended especially at sale price. Works well with xbox 360 controller. I'd imagine Steam Controller works welll also although haven't tried it.

It's a well-made traditional STG (as in a non bullet hell) unlike Astro Port's other STG Super Robot Vulkaiser (which is bullet hell).

It's enough like Gradius that I would certainly recommend it if you are a fan of that series. It features a very simalar aesthetic and shares some of the retro design philosophies (I.E being in the right place at the right time) that made the earlier games irritating, but it's nowhere near as unforgiving. You choose your weapons as you would in Gradius, a primary, two switchable sub-weapons and powerful charge weapon.

Your weapons are pretty much ripped straight from other STGs. Gradius, mainly, but you even have the Hunter from Thunder Force.

The powerups work differently. Intead of collecting cores from enemies to highlight a bar you collect them from stationary boxes and each core has a letter on it. S for sheild, and a P for power which powers up either you main, your equipped Sub, or your charge.

Bosses are also exteremely easy. You won't need to aim for the core and a few of them will even go down with a single hit from your charge weapon.

When people said this was similar to Gradius they weren't kidding. There are numerous instances of deja vu for fans of shooters such as Gradius, Darius, R-Type, and Axelay. That's not a bad thing and it still manages to be a great shooter on its own. There are better shooters out there, but considering the scarcity of shooters in this vein nowadays, it's still a worthwhile expierience.

If you want a new shoot 'em up specifically in the vein of Gradius, you'll find it here. While the graphics and music might be a little cheesy or off-putting, the weapons, stages, and bosses will literally blow you away, and you'll love every second of it. I've started a new run maybe thirty times and only recently beat it, so expect plenty of deaths and game overs, but pushing yourself a little harder to reach the next insane boss or stage is totally worth it.

The weapons are pretty standard, but the power-up system is just different enough to catch you off guard when you finally bite it and lose a few points and your weapons power down. Thankfully, while the game is pretty hardcore and the bosses are totally nuts, there are several checkpoints and mid-points during stages and boss fights that give you a few upgrades so you're not totally ruined when you twitched into a ceiling or missile just seconds from a victory.

Graphics are good. Music is decent. Good level design. Lots of different weapons, most of which are pretty cool and effective. Big boss battles. All in all, very reminiscent of Gradius games.

So why do I not recommend it?

Because if you can't play it properly, then the rest means nothing.

This game forces you to use the analog stick with no option of using the Dpad. I've been a huge fan of shoot 'em ups since the NES days, and while I'm no expert, I am pretty darn good at them. In this game, however, I was dying from the simplest of things (things that the developers probably hadn't even intended to be a threat) merely because the analog stick makes it too difficult to maneuver your ship with precision. I see no reason to limit the directional controls in a 2D game to the analog stick.

If a patch comes out that allows the directional controls to be changed to the Dpad, I will instantly change my rating to a thumbs up.

Side-scrolling shooter in the vein of Gradius and R-Type. May be a decent shooter, but I wouldn't know because I'm sick and ♥♥♥♥ing tired of games that force analog control instead of allowing the use of the d-pad.

A tough damn good horizontal scrolling shoot em up in the best traditions of Gradius/R-type etc. Thumping amazing soundtrack, really good visuals and tight gameplay. Nice special weapons, the action is hectic but not completely bullet hell which I appreciate.

Feels so much like Gradius of the early 90s to me. Love it! Its hard, but once you have your piloting skills down, missing walls, caves and other obstacles down its pretty fun, die die die until you get your movements down. Somewhat of an RPG style upgrade and choice of weapons. Controller support for my XInput controller is pretty decent, fullscreen 2560x1080 is also properly displayed, kudos to Nyu Media!

This is the best side scrolling old-school shooter I've ever played! Very enjoyable, first choose your loadout based on the enemies in the level. Then kill everything on the screen, pick up power ups to help you defeat the very challenging but satisfying boss fights! Highly Reccomended!

Niv score : 90

P.S, it also appears Capcom is experimenting with trading cards using this game, you'll notice this game is not marked it has cards but it does! C'mon Capcom cards for everything!

An excellent, traditional shoot-'em-up from Astro Port.

From the colourful, weighty visual work and sound direction to some of the strongest '80s/90s-style' shooter game design I've seen in a while, nearly every aspect of Satazius comes together to make for a thrilling game all around. Pad controls generally feel good, the action is exciting, the game is suitably twitch-based and the whole thing is just a joy to play.

Recommedend to all shoot-'em-up fans. In fact, I'm sure even a few with little experience in the genre will have a good time, considering how slick a of a production this is.

But mainly, it's just good fun. You do like fun, right? No? How about millions of explosions then?

Satazius is HARD, There's no getting away from that fact, this game will make you want to pull hair off parts of your body you did not even know you had hair on. Satazius features an arsenal of 13 types of upgradeable weapons, power-ups, obstacles and boss encounters that arcade veterans will enjoy getting to grips with. Customize your ship by selecting two side weapons which can be selected at any time during and a charge attack to unleash massive destruction.

This game is not for the casual gamer as even i struggle to get to grips with its seemingly bipolar difficulty curve, good luck guys i highly recommend this game to the bullet hell "vet" out there. The sound track is great, its a metal retro mix of high speed loops and fast guitar riffs that really set the mood and get your blood pumping.

At first navigating the menus can be a hassle as the game does not tell you what button is mapped to Enter is Z if your wondering, apart from that the menus are simple and easy enough to navigate and the game even supports gamepad support, however i have not tried to use it myself so that's a mystery i shall leave to you guys.

I was actually fairly impressed with the graphics in this game, granted there nothing spectacular however if this game was released alongside with r-type HD it would defiantly have given it a run for its money, as this games has a much higher pixel density and the animations are so fluid they look almost as good as another game called intrusion 2 witch features one of the best animated boss's i have ever seen

So the bottom line this game has great features and a great soundtracks but does not do anything new and fresh to this genre and missed out on a mark here, however with that said if your feeling a little bit sadistic then go on put your patience to the test, this game for me gets.....

Even though "Shoot 'em Up", is not my favourite genre, I had a good time playing Satazius.

There's nothing special about the gameplay, other then that it feels nice to play. Like all shooters you have to destroy as many enemies as you can and try not to get it. The game is very difficult (well at least for me it was) and the graphics look neat.

Recommended for Shoot 'Em Up fans.

Good ole shmup fun. I am still working on Normal mode at this time, and I am loving every moment of it. The weapon upgrade system gives you some learning curve/fun making you figure out which works best for each level/enemy. There are moments where you have to quickly navigate through small areas while avoiding smashing into stuff/getting blasted into scraps. \m/ (=_=) \m/ The Music gets me pumped, and the SFX are choice. The game isn't that long, but the harder difficulties give it decent replayability. I love this game. Classic Game Room Sent me. SATAAAZIUUUUUS!

Yeah!.......another old school retro side-scrolling shooter with loads of weapons to choose from, upgrades to choose from, boss battles to fight, and reasonably challenging levels to play through; (not too easy, not too hard). This is an ideal starter for newcomers to the genre; it's cheap, (only a measly £4.49 {approx $6.50}), and it's dead easy to play. You can even use your joystick or controller' if you've got one;. (I used my Saitek joystick as i'd just been playing HAWX 2 and it was a joy to play with rather than have to use the keyboard controls). You can customise your ship and include several weapons that can be cycled through to take advantage of different in game situations.

The graphics are colorful and any one familiar with the games of old (circa 1980's - 90's) this will bring back memories of the time spent in the arcades competing against your friends (money well spent), then playing them on the first console back in the mid to late 80's

Satazius is a horizontal shoot em up in which the environments are far more dangerous than the enemies you will be fighting. You have multiple weapons to choose from and unlock more the further you progress. It is not a bullet hell as enemies fire reasonable amounts of projectiles, at least in the first two unlocked difficulties. You have a basic fire and two alt fires which you can switch between, all which can be switched for different unique weapons to make your ship like one of a kind. One shot will kill you if you don't pick up a shield power up but scraping into the environment will kill you regardless. One thing to be noted is that the game worked perfectly fine from the get go with my 360 pad even though it doesn't say that it has controller compatibility on the Steam page

The one thing that was weird with the controller was that you can not bind the pause button to it which can be problematic. No dpad support either which is not too great considering the environments require pixel perfect navigation. On top of your already massive fire power you have a special rechargeable move which is really helpful against bosses. There is also powerups scattered around the level to further increase your damage and speed. All this makes you sound overpowered as heck, and you are actually pretty overpowered and the devs know it. They will constantly sucker punch you with things you had no way to see coming instead of offering a fair challenge.

You are offered 9 continues each which grants you three lives a pop. Most of my deaths felt pretty cheap and made it into a trail and error type of game until you memorize the level. If you don't enjoy flying through very narrow insta-kill environments with little time to react this is not the game for you. Being only 7 levels long means having a high difficulty is kind of necessary but knowing that doesn't make it any less annoying when you have to traverse a ton of hazards, get sucker punched and have to repeat that section again. Each time you die you are thrown back into a previous checkpoint instead of simply respawning. It does lengthen the game and it does feel like an arcade game for better or worse.

Graphics are nice and have a decent amount of detail to them. The explosions and debris flying around after you shoot down enemies look great as well. It runs at 60fps which is another point in it's favor. Even the music is pretty catchy. Outside of the main mode you have a “practice” mode where you can choose any level to play but you don't have any continues which makes it harder than playing through the actual game. Do not press the escape key or you will shut down the game. The key to pause the game is “Q” for some reason. This game does feature cool looking giant bosses but most get absolutely devastated when you use your special move making them kind of a pushover.

Satazius is by no means a bad game. It's just that if you are expecting some fun shooting there is very little of that here. You will just be holding down the fire button and trying to navigate the environments which pose a far greater threat to you. And having to control your ship with the analog stick or keyboard makes it far more difficult than it should be. It is difficult and unfair but it is still fun to mix and match your weapons to blast through levels. Overall this is a solid title if you are in to arcade like shoot em ups and is recommended to those that can deal without a dpad.

I was looking through some random forums for decent old school space ship shooters on Steam, and Satazius was mentioned "A LOT", I thought "Satazius huh? Kinda sounds like Gradius, I'll give it a whirl".... And my god, if sounding like Gradius is one thing, looking and playing like Gradius is another.

Satazius is an exceptional game that has CAPCOM's seal of approval, and it's one of the better inde shooters I've played. Basically take Gradius, and take away all of it's medication, force feed it a diet of protein shakes and suffering, then you'll have something that doesn't even come close to Satazius, this game is hard as hell!!! The beautiful thing about Satazius is that the similarities are all there, but it's not a shameless rip-off. For a starts it's way harder, and it's a lot prettier.

I find it difficult to write about shooters like this, well because they're pretty much the same. But the moral of the story here is "Why fix what is not ultimately broken." If CAPCOM put its stamp on it, then it's got to be good right? That's Satazius, an old school side scrolling space shooter, that get's everything right, no complaints from me. Take it from someone who plays these games non-stop.

... And seriously... Good luck with this one, it's well hard!
